Opis:
The active substance of new herbicide generation is N-(2-pirydyloamino) methylenobisphosphonic acid. Two strains Fusarium culmorum CB3 and Fusarium oxysporum XVI, isolated from soil treated with examined substance, were chosen to investigation of using it as a sole source of phosphorus, nitrogen or carbon in the concentrations at 1.0 mM. Interactions between the dominating strains of fungi and N-(2-pirydyloamino) methylenobisphosphonic acid, mycelium growth rate, the spore germinate index, the level chemical changes of N-(2-pirydyloamino) methylenobisphosphonic acid and pH were investigated after cultivation in mineral medium and its modifications. The results of growth kinetics of the studied Fusarium fungi in the presence of N-(2-pirydyloamino) methylenobisphosphonic acid, were expressed by dry weight [g·dm-3]. Only Fusarium oxysporum XVI has been capable to grow in acidic medium (pH 4.0) using N-(2-pirydylamino) methylene-bisphosphonic acid as an alternative source of phosphorus. In these conditions the N-(2-pirydylamino) methylenebisphosphonic acid degradation was carried out to utilize phosphorus compounds as a source of nutrient components for this strain. The presence of N-(2-pirydylamino) methylenebisphosphonic acid receded a growth rate of mycelium but did not have an effect on spores of the tested fungi.

Proponowane badania prowadzone będą między innymi we współpracy z Zakładem Hematologii Eksperymentalnej Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego w Krakowie. W zakładzie tym prowadzone będą badania dotyczące hodowli chondrocytów i badań histologicznych, natomiast pozostałe badania mikro- i nanotribologiczne wykonane będą w laboratoriach tribologicznych.
Vitreous cartilage is an important element of the human skeleton, because it makes bone growth possible and forms joint surfaces. The vitreous cartilage consists of cartilage cells and chondrocytes which produce an extra-cell matrix. The commonly applied and effective method of therapy of developed degenerative changes in joints of human lower limbs (mainly of knee and hip joints) is mechanical reconstruction of a used joint by replacing it with a complete endoprosthesis. Despite its unquestionable advantages, the alloplastics are not free of many shortcomings. An artificial joint does not precisely model the joint’s surfaces and detrimentally changes biomechanical processes in the part of pelvis in which the joint's sleeve is located, as well as in the root closer to thigh bone. From clinical observations, it results in the "lifetimes" of endoprostheses range from 10 to 13-15 years after a correctly performed operation and the correct use of the implant. For this reason, more effective methods for the treatment of joint cartilage decrements are still being researched. One method is to investigate cartilage and chondrocytes in an incubator of CO2.This paper presents a current view concerning the study process of cartilage and chondrocytes in an incubator, and it is presented from the side of mechanics, especially hydromechanics methods. The research determined flow velocity fields of viscous, non-Newtonian biological nutrition liquid as well as friction forces generated within the boundary layer around surfaces of investigated cartilage or tissues. Additionally, were considered potential flows from the joint cavity of joint fluid which nourish joint cartilage after its implantation.

Opis:
In this paper are presented the possibilities to attain the artificial intelligence features of slide micro-bearings taking into account: 1.           Cooperation between super thin boundary lubricant layer and thin superficial layer lying on the micro-bearing shaft and sleeve with various shapes. 2.           Application of a novel method of depositing thin organic and inorganic layer (superficial layer) onto a metal substrate utilizing electro-spraying (electrostatic atomization) method. The new achievements presented in this paper are aimed at application of this technology to functional layer deposition in micro-bearings. Electro-spraying is a low-energy process of liquid atomisation by means of electrical forces. Electro-spraying device consists of a capillary nozzle connected to a high electric potential whereas the substrate is grounded. The liquid flowing out the nozzle is subjected to an electrical stress, and fine droplets are generated from the meniscus or the jet formedat the nozzle outlet. Depending on physical properties of the liquid to be spraye dań d spraying conditions, the size of the droplets can be in the submicron size range. In the electro-spraying process, a solution or a suspension of a material to be deposited is atomised into droplets, which can be targeted onto a substrate to form a condensed product, for example a thin layer after solvent evaporation. The deposition efficiency of charged droplets on a target is much higher than for uncharged ones due to electric forces, which drive the droplets along the electric filed lines towards the substrate.

Opis:
Adenomyosis is defined as the presence of glandular foci external to the endometrium of the uterus, either in the myometrium or/and perimetrium, depending on the progress of this dysfunction. To date, we showed that steroids secretion and prolactin expression and proliferative processes are disturbed during uterine adenomyosis in cows. During endometriosis in eutopic endometrium in women, gap junctions are down regulated. The transmembrane gap junction protein, connexin (Cx43) is necessary for endometrial morphological, biochemical and angiogenic functions. The aim of this study is recognition of adenomyosis etiology by determination of the role of Cx43 in this process. Immunolocalization and comparison of Cx43 mRNA and protein expression in healthy (N=9) and adenomyotic uterine tissue (N=9), and Cx43 mRNA expression (real time PCR) in uterine stromal – myometrium co-culture under 24-hour stimulation with 17-beta estradiol (10−7M) isolated from healthy (N=5) and adenomyotic (N=5) cows were determined. Cx43 was localized in healthy and adenomyotic uteri. mRNA and protein expression was down-regulated in uterine tissue in adenomyotic compared with healthy cows (p<0.05). Estradiol stimulated Cx43 mRNA expression in myometrial cell culture and co-culture of stromal and myometrial cells in adenomyotic compared with healthy cows (p<0.05). In summary, down-regulation of Cx43 expression in the junction zone might play an important role in pathogenesis of adenomyosis. Estradiol modulates gap junctions during adenomyosis.

Opis:
Adenomyosis is defined as the presence of glandular foci beside the endometrium of uterus: in the myometrium and/or perimetrium depending on the progress of the disorder. So far, adenomyosis has been diagnosed in women and rodents, and studies conducted on cows have been rare. In this review we: (1) summarize the knowledge regarding adenomyosis, (2) compare the symptoms and aetiopathology between women and cows, (3) describe angiogenic uterine processes related to adenomyosis development and (4) outline the influence of adenomyosis on proper fertility processes in cattle (conception and fertility rates).

Opis:
This paper assesses the impact of creosote and low-molecular-weight organic acids (LMWOAs) on the activity of acid phosphomonoesterase, alkaline phosphomonoesterase, phosphotriesterase, and inorganic pyrophosphatase in soil. The experiment was carried out on loamy sand samples with organic carbon content of 8.71 g·kg⁻¹, with the following variable factors: dosages of creosote: 0, 0.5%, and 2.5%; type of LMWOAs: oxalic acid, tartaric acid, and citric acid in the amount of 50 mmol·kg⁻¹ of soil; days of experiment: 1, 7, 14, 28, 56, 112. Obtained results showed that contamination with creosote caused decrease in the activity of soil phosphatases. The observed effect did not always increase with increase in the dosage of the pollutant. Among the assayed phosphatases, the biggest changes were noted in the activity of phosphomonoesterases. Application of LMWOAs to contaminated soil mainly effected the inhibition of phosphatase, especially the activity of acid phosphomonoesterase. Comparison of the effects of LMWOAs showed that the citric acid was the least toxic to soil phosphatases.
