Szczególną uwagę poświęcono zawartym w systemie SZYK2 nowoczesnym narzędziom dla menedżerów, w tym analiz i raportów opartych o hurtownię danych oraz metod natychmiastowego dostępu do bieżących informacji zarządczych z wykorzystaniem portali i kokpitów menedżerskich.
The article presents the mechanisms for systemic management of production assets and material inventory and discusses a number of important aspects of the SZYK2 IT system supporting management of a mining enterprise and its functionality for financial management and multi-factor analysis of economic and financial parameters of an enterprise. Particular attention was paid to modern tools for managers included in the SZYK2 system, including analyzes and reports based on data warehouse and methods of immediate access to current management information using managerial portals and dashboards.

Jednym z najgroźniejszych zjawisk towarzyszących wydobyciu węgla kamiennego jest występowanie w jego pokładach metanu. Pomimo ogromnego postępu w rozpoznaniu i zwalczaniu zagrożenia metanowego, obserwuje się jego narastanie w wielu obszarach górniczych kopalń co ma silny związek ze zwiększaniem głębokości prowadzonej eksploatacji, coraz większą metanonośnością pokładów oraz ciśnieniem złożowym gazów. Dla potrzeb skutecznego przeciwdziałania niebezpiecznym zjawiskom związanym z zagrożeniem metanowym, ukierunkowanym na poprawę bezpieczeństwa i higieny pracy w górnictwie, nieodzowne jest współdziałanie wszystkich środowisk z branżą górniczą w tym szczególnie z naukowcami oraz jednostkami badawczo-rozwojowymi. W niniejszym artykule przeprowadzono analizę dostępnej literatury w tym zakresie oraz przedstawiono rozwój metod i środków rozpoznania i prognozowania zagrożenia metanowego.
One of the most dangerous phenomena associated with the extraction of hard coal is the occurrence of methane in its seams. Despite enormous progress in identifying and combating the methane hazard, its growth is observed in many mining areas of mines, which is strongly related to the increase in the depth of exploitation, the increasingly methane-free nature of deposits and the gas reservoir pressure. For the purpose of effectively counteracting dangerous phenomena related to methane hazard, aimed at improving occupational safety and health in mining, it is indispensable to cooperate with all mining industry, in particular with scientists and R & D units. This article analyzes the available literature in this area and presents the development of methods and means for the diagnosis and forecasting of methane hazard.

Since the beginning of the 1990s, there has been an intensive restructuring of hard coal sector in Poland. In this process, successive mines are being decommissioned, most of which are characterized by considerable methane content. The vast majority of hard coal mines in Poland, including all the mines belonging to Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. are highly methane mines. This means that the air flowing out of the mine shafts contains a certain concentration of methane, the size of which depends on the amount of air and the amount of methane-filled air, which is emitted into the mine excavations. In 2019 alone, nearly 807 million m3 of methane was released from the rock mass affected by mining, out of which only 195.6 million m3 were used economically. This publication presents and characterizes projects involving the extraction and economic use of methane from both active and decommissioned mines. The paper also points out the legal and administrative conditions in which projects related to methane extraction and utilization can be implemented. The paper presents measurable benefits from demethylation not only in terms of improving the safety of coal extraction, but mainly economic and ecological aspects. Above all, attention was paid to the fact that the vast majority of methane was irreversibly emitted to the atmosphere to the detriment of the natural environment.

The release of methane into the mine atmosphere poses a threat to the miners. Methane is an explosive gas at concentrations of 5-15% in air by volume and throughout the history of coal mining has been the cause of devastating explosions in mines around the world. For these reasons, in methane coal mines, the concentration of methane emitted from the coal face and the entire mine is controlled by means of a well-designed ventilation system, a system controlling the concentration of methane in the mine atmosphere and a system for methane drainage of the rock mass and goafs. The presented article concerns the forecast of the average concentration of methane on a given day, in the places of sensors located in the longwall roadways of discharge air exhausted from the longwall: up to 10 m in front of the wall and at the outlet of the roadway. Both forecasts were made using the prognostic equations on the basis of measurement data concerning the ventilation roadways of one of the longwalls at JSW SA.

Introduction/Background: The knowledge-based economy in Poland and the United States (USA) requires highly trained engineering professionals to stay competitive and to secure economic development. In recent years, some initiatives have been undertaken to better prepare high school graduates for engineering and technology-related programs. One of these initiatives has been the creation of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) high schools in Rybnik, Poland, and Hazleton, Pennsylvania (PA), USA. Aim of the Paper: The comparative analysis of the curriculum was conducted by selecting two similar high schools, one in Hazleton, PA, USA, and one in Rybnik, Poland. The purpose of this research project was to identify the similarities and differences in the curricula at both high schools. Materials and Methods: The authors of this article have firsthand experience with the curricula at both high schools. Both curricula are available in their respective catalogs. A comparative analysis of the curricula was done by identifying the best practices in both countries. Dual enrollment opportunities available to high school students in PA, is also discussed. Results and Conclusions: This paper describes the different methods used for promoting interest in engineering and technology among high school students. These initiatives are necessary to provide a highly qualified workforce to meet the demands of the knowledge-based economy. This paper includes a comparative analysis of the STEM-oriented high school curricula in Poland and the USA.

In hard coal mines with methane, there is often a need to apply demethylation in order to keep the methane concentration not exceeding 2% in the ventilation air. The basic demethylation method in longwall areas is through drainage boreholes made in the roof rocks of the coal bed, from top gate, in front of the longwall. The drainage boreholes are usually made in bundles, in a fan-shaped arrangement, with several boreholes in each bundle. The paper presents the results of measurements and tests of the efficiency of a bundle of four drainage boreholes drilled approximately 100 m in front of the longwall face. The efficiency of individual boreholes was analyzed in time and depending on the distance of borehole outlets from the longwall face. It was found that there is a large variation in the extraction of air-methane mixture by individual drainage boreholes, as well as large differences in the efficiency of individual drainage boreholes during the longwall extraction process.

The paper presents formation of the amount of methane released from a coal deposit during coal mining. The total amount of released methane is composed of the amount separated directly into the ventilation air in mines (ventilation methane) and included in the demethanation system, isolated from the ventilation air. Methane from the demethanation system is only partially utilized. The unused part of methane is discharged into the atmosphere. The paper presents how the amount of methane released in individual mines of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. was shaped, with a division into methane released to the ventilation system and included in the demethanation system, taking into account the part used for economic purposes and the part discharged to atmosphere. The research material covers the years 2017-2019.

Purpose: The goals of the paper was a comparative analysis of educational systems as well as educational standards and funding in Poland and the United States. This was done for the purpose of identifying the best practices in both systems. Design/methodology approach: Two educational systems, Hazleton (PA-USA) and Rybnik (Poland) were analyzed from the perspective of the structure of education, educational standards and funding. The sources of information included, but not limited to the Polish Ministry of Education, Hazleton Area School District, Pennsylvania Department of Education and the United States Department of Education. Findings: The educational systems in Poland and the United States have more similarities than differences. The subjects being taught as well as the educational standards are similar. The educational system is more uniform throughout Poland because it is centrally administered by the Ministry of Education. The Performance scores of students are slightly higher in Poland. This is true in Mathematics, Reading and Science. The educational system in the United States is neither uniform throughout the country nor throughout the state of Pennsylvania. It may also vary from one school district to another school district. Research Limitations: The research limitation was the comparison of one school district Hazleton, PA (USA) with the school district in Rybnik (Poland). No competency testing was done by the authors in either of the school districts. Student competency comparison was done by using the standardized testing data obtained from the Ministry of Education (Poland) and the Department of Education (Pennsylvania). Practical Implications: A comparative analysis of the educational systems in Poland and the United States may allow for identifying the best and most effective practices which could be implemented in both countries. Social Implications: The educational system in the United States allows for dual enrollment (high school and university at the same time). Piloting a similar model in Poland would have significant social implications. Originality/value: Identifying the best and most effective educational practices in Poland and the United States is critical for planning improvements and developing a best practices model.

The purpose of the study is presentation of the method of increasing the competitiveness of the mining industry through the demonstration of the possibility and potential in closing the loop of supply chains through waste management. A critical analysis of the source literature and an arithmetic analysis of statistical data in static and dynamic perspectives were accepted to be the research method. It has been found that the structure of the level of mining wastes and the level of their recovery rates demonstrate a large potential of closing the loop of chains in this industry and, at the same time, a potential to extend the chains through directing the material from recovery to various sectors. This constitutes an example of the direction of activities that are in line with the EU strategies for the economies of other states which possess this type wastes.

This paper presents the technology of production of synthetic fibrous materials from PET-row by vertical blowing method. The formation of fibers from the melt of thermoplastics by vertical blowing method is accompanied by complex and specific phenomena, so creation of new progressive technologies, high-performance machines and units for producing such materials is impossible without process modeling, which can significantly reduce the number of natural tests, cost and development time and choose optimal operating modes. The motion of the molten material in the melting unit of the hydrostatic type is determined from the Poiseuille formula. Also in the article proved that the greatest impact on process productivity is made by the melting unit, exactly by outlet radius and the pressure change of compressed air, acting on the molten material surface. The increase in the height of the molten material column in the main cylindrical chamber of melting unit also leads to increase of process productivity.
