Opis:
In the paper, the subspace iteration method is used to solve quadratic eigenproblems written for structures with viscoelastic dampers. This allows a certain previously assumed number of eigenvalues and corresponding eigenvectors to be determined. A shear frame with mass lumped on the storey level with built-in dampers is considered. Dampers are modelled with the classical Zener model. Equations of motion are written in the matrix form and include the internal variables resulting from built-in dampers. The subspace iteration method starts from adopting the number of sought solution for the quadratic eigenproblem, then the starting point of the iteration is determined and the iterative procedure is initiated. In each iterative loop the reduced quadratic eigenproblem with Hermitian matrices is solved by rearranging it into a state space form.

Opis:
This paper discusses the different methods used for calculating first- and second-order sensitivity: the direct differentiation method, the adjoint variables method, and the hybrid method. The solutions obtained allow determining the sensitivity of dynamic characteristics such as eigenvalues and eigenvectors, natural frequencies, and nondimensional damping ratios. The methods were applied for analyzing systems with viscoelastic damping elements, whose behavior can be described by classical and fractional rheological models. However, the derived formulas are general and can also be applied to systems with damping elements described by other models. Their advantage is a compact and easy to code form. The paper also presents a comparison of the computational costs of the discussed methods. The correctness of all the proposed methods has been illustrated with numerical examples.

Opis:
In the paper dynamics of a free-form Timoshenko curved beam is investigated. The considered problem is solved using isogeometric analysis. Non-uniform rational B-spline (NURBS) basis functions are applied to describe both geometry and displacement field of the considered beam. The Timoshenko beam theory is used to derive the element stiffness and mass matrices. The application of the presented method is shown in numerical examples. The correctness of the presented approach is proved by comparing the obtained results to those available in the literature and calculated by the finite element method. Analysis of convergence is presented for different orders of NURBS basis functions.

Opis:
The paper presents arch structures modeled by finite elements in which the nodes can be flexibly connected. Two-node curved elements with three degrees of freedom at each node were used. Exact shape functions were adopted to obtain stiffness and consistent mass matrices but they were modified by introducing rotational flexibility in the boundary nodes. Calculations of statics and dynamics of arches with different positions of flexible joints and different values of rotational stiffness of the joints were carried out.
