    Szybki rozwój Systemów Geoinformacyjnych w Internecie ukierunkowany jest na udostępnianie w sieci jak największej liczby funkcji, które byłyby dostępne dla Klientów poprzez zwykłą przeglądarkę internetową, bez konieczności zakupu drogiego oprogramowania. Problem stanowią jednak wszelkie funkcje analityczne, które w klasycznych systemach GIS („Offline”) wymagają dużych zasobów pamięci operacyjnej komputera. Wyniki badań prowadzonych przez pracowników Uniwersytetu Bundeswery w Monachium pozwalają na przegląd dostępnych w tej dziedzinie rozwiązań. Możliwości Internetu pozwoliły na rozwinięcie się Wirtualnego GIS-u. Trójwymiarowe modele miast, odtworzone zgodnie z rzeczywistością i udostępnione w globalnej sieci mogą stać się alternatywnym sposobem zwiedzania dla osób, które niechętnie podróżują lub zwyczajnie nie mają na to środków.

    In this report, the problem of testing for a difference between conditional variance fnuctions (or volatilites) of two independent nonlinear time series is investigated by means of an extensive simulation study. Empirical results on the properties of the test proposed confirm the test's validity, at least for some types of heteroscedasticity as contrasted with homnoscedastic erroos as well as for some types of differences in heteooscedasticity. Moreover, interesting properties of several estimators of conditional mean, variance and fourth moment functions are empirically found too.

    Specific heat measurements have been performed on the polycrystalline $TbNi_2, LaNi_2$ and their solid solutions $Tb_{1-x}La_xNi_2$ (x=0.2, 0.3). The Debye temperatures, phonon and conduction electron contributions as well as the magnetic part of the heat capacity were determined and discussed. The magnetocaloric effect was estimated from measurements performed in a magnetic field of 0.42 T for $TbNi_2,$ $Tb_{0.8}La_{0.2}Ni_2$ and $Tb_{0.7}La_{0.3}Ni_2$.

    Magnetic and specific heat measurements have been performed on polycrystalline $TbNi_2,$ $ScNi_2$ and their solid solutions $Tb_{1-x}Sc_{x}Ni_2$ (x = 0.1, 0.2). These compounds were synthesized using high-purity rare-earth metals. It has been found that the magnetic susceptibility of the nonmagnetic ScNi_2 compound exhibits a very weak temperature dependence characteristic of the Pauli paramagnets. $TbNi_2,$ $Tb_{0.9}Sc_{0.1}Ni_2$ and $Tb_{0.8}Sc_{0.2}Ni_2$ are typical Curie-Weiss paramagnets and are ferromagnetically ordered below 36 K. As revealed by room-temperature X-ray powder diffraction all the $Tb_{1-x}Sc_{x}Ni_2$ solid solutions have the cubic Laves C15-type superstructure. The Debye temperature, phonon and conduction electron contributions as well as the magnetic part of heat capacity were determined. The magnetocaloric effect has been studied by means of specific heat measurements in magnetic fields of 0.42 and 1 T. The effect of rare-earth substitution in $ScNi_2$ on the magnetic and magnetocaloric properties will be discussed.

    The uncertain flow-shop is considered. It is assumed that processing times are not given a priori, but they belong to intervals of known bounds. The absolute regret (regret) is used to evaluate a solution (a schedule) which gives the minmax regret binary optimization problem. The evolutionary heuristic solution algorithm is experimentally compared with a simple middle interval heuristic algorithm for three machines instances. The conducted simulations confirmed the several percent advantage of the evolutionary approach.

    W strukturze zapewnienia Siłom Zbrojnym RP zdolności do działań istotne znaczenie posiadają specjalistyczne jednostki logistyczne - wojskowe oddziały gospodarcze (WOG), których zadaniem jest odciążanie jednostek przeznaczanych do realizacji zadań szkoleniowych/bojowych w zakresie zabezpieczenia logistycznego. Realizacja trudnych zadań merytorycznych wymaga profesjonalizmu kadry WOG i powinna być oceniana pod względem efektywności funkcjonowania, poprzez analizę uzyskiwanych wyników, również w aspekcie ekonomicznym. W pracy przedstawiono zastosowanie funkcji rentowności zarządczej jako formy oceny działalności WOG obejmującej zróżnicowane uwarunkowania realizacyjne w zdeterminowanych okresach czasowych.
    Specialised logistic entities hereby named as Military Economic Units (MEU) have a significant meaning in the structure providing operational capabilities for the Polish Armed Forces through relieving the military units involved in drilling/combat operations in the logistic tasks. The performance of difficult objective tasks demands a presence of professional staff in the MEU and its efficiency of operation has to be evaluated by an analysis of received results, also in a financial aspect. The paper describes an application of a managerial profitability function as a form of assessment for the MEU activities which includes different conditions for execution in determined time frames.

    Despite urbanization of contemporary society and limitation on the environmental areas, the threat of animal attacks on people is still an important social and medical problem. Although they usually do not have serious consequences, they are nevertheless disturbing and alarming enough to make people seek professional, medical help. The aim of this study was to estimate the epidemiology and the risk rate of animal related injuries in the urban and rural population, as well as to select the characteristics of such injuries, which are distinguishable from injuries caused by other factors. The work presents a retrospective analysis of the medical records of 1,872 patients treated at the Department of Trauma and Emergency Department between 2001-2004, who suffered from animal related injuries. Our analysis led to the following conclusions: Most animal related injuries, reported to doctors, are mild injuries. The threat of animal attack is similar in urban and in rural areas, and concerns mostly men between the ages of 22-40. Injuries caused by large animals, such as a horse or a cow, require hospitalization and should be considered as high-energy injuries. The vast majority were patients who after the treatment could return to their social and occupational activities; the mortality rate in hospitalized patients with animal related injuries was higher then in other injuries, but the difference was statistically irrelevant.

    Opis:
    Wind constitutes one of the major environmental factors affecting the design and performance of built environment. Each country has its unique climatic wind conditions, and the way in which these are considered and implemented in the structural design, is important. An implementation or adoption of any new engineering design stipulations introduces a formidable challenge to the developers of the standards and the design profession. This has been experienced in some of the countries (e.g. the UK, Australia and the USA), where processes of modernising the outdated codification took place in the past. Although both Poland and South Africa are currently at the early implementation stage of the new wind loading design stipulations, there is a major difference between the circumstances of the two countries. Poland, as an EU member state, has a compulsory obligation to adopt the new uniform standarisation requirements, within a stipulated time-frame. The South African code developers, after a thorough investigation process which will be highlighted in the paper, decided voluntarily to adopt the Eurocode as the primary model document.
