The aim of this study was to examine the effect of heat treatment and pulse plasma treatment on surface properties of AISI 1050 steel used in this work. Firstly, the heat treatment was applied to samples for 2 h at 860°C. The quenching media were selected as water and oil and air cooling was applied. The tempering process was applied at different temperatures like 600°C, 500°C, 400°C and 100°C. Having completed the heat treatment, the pulse plasma process was applied to all samples. The surfaces were investigated with optic microscope, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction analyses. The hardness testing was done for all samples from surface to center. The mechanical properties were improved after pulse plasma treatment.

In this study, microstructure and surface properties of low carbon steels (St52) treated by pulse plasma were investigated. The surfaces of samples were modified by pulse plasma technique. Four different plasma gun nozzle distances as 50 mm, 60 mm, 70 mm, and 80 mm and one battery capacity were chosen for surface modification. Cross-section microstructures of samples were investigated and modified layer thicknesses were measured by optical microscope. The thickness values of modified layer were obtained in a range from 10 μm to 41 μm. The samples were immersed into liquid nitrogen and then breaked in a Charpy machine. The fractured surfaces were exposed to scanning electron microscopy analyses. At the end of the study, thin grains and small tungsten grains coming from tungsten electrode were detected. After pulse plasma treatment, new structures and new phases and high hardness values were obtained.

The aim of this research was to investigate microstructural and mechanical properties of the WC-Co-Cr coatings by high velocity oxygen fuel spraying. Woka 3653 (WC10Co4Cr) powder was used as coating material. This powder is widely used as a tribological coating material providing a combination of high toughness, high hardness, and good strength. The coatings were produced for the different high velocity oxygen fuel spraying parameters. The treated samples were characterized by using scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry and X-ray diffractometry. Microhardness measurements were executed to evaluate the mechanical properties of the coatings. Also the wear performance of the coatings was investigated. The scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry analyses were applied to worn surfaces. The results indicated that the coating shows slightly higher microhardness and better abrasive wear resistance than the conventional counterpart.

In this work, the Woka 5810 powders (88% tungsten carbide-12% cobalt) were used to produce coating by high velocity oxy-fuel spraying. WC-Co is widely used as a tribological coating material providing a combination of high toughness, high hardness, and good strength. The treated samples were characterized by using optical micrograph, stereo microscope and scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, and microhardness tests. Also the wear performance of the coatings was investigated. The results indicated that the coating shows slight higher microhardness and better abrasive wear resistance than the conventional counterpart. The friction coefficient of coating was low. The scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy analyses were applied to worn surfaces.

The microstructure and wear properties of pulse plasma treated AISI 4140 steel was investigated. The surface properties of the materials have been improved by modifying the surfaces of the DIN 1.2210 steel with pulse plasma technique. The sample surfaces have been modified by pulse plasma with C₃H₈, nitrogen and O₂ gases. Two different distances between the sample and nozzle and three different numbers of pulse were determined for modification process and the surface process was implemented by using tungsten electrode with 800 µF battery capacity. The optical images were taken of the materials which the surfaces were improved by using pulse plasma technique. The surface modified samples were subjected to X-ray diffraction analysis. Wear tests were performed in a linear wear test machine with 0.15 m/s constant sliding speed under 5 N loads for 200 m sliding distance. The wear rate was changed in accordance with process parameters. The wear resistance increased in the surface modified specimens was compared to that of non-modified ones. Worn surfaces of specimens were studied by scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive spectroscopy analyses techniques. It is determined that the thickness of modification layer changes regarding to the amount of new phases and sample-nozzle distance. It is approved the increase on wear resistance related to wolfram diffusion.

Hydroxyapatite (HAp) exhibits excellent biocompatibility but the low mechanical strength of normal HAp ceramics generally restricts its use to low load-bearing applications. Magnesium is an attractive material for use in biodegradable implants due to its low density, non-toxicity and mechanical properties similar to those of human tissue such as bone. Its biocompatibility makes it amenable for use in a wide range of applications from bone to cardiovascular implants. The aim of this work was to produce hydroxyapatite powder with chemical precipitation method and supplement Mg and investigate the effect of magnesium on structure of HAp powders. The Mg content ranged between 1 and 2 mol.%. The Mg+HAp powders were examined for morphology. The scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy were used to characterize the specimen powders.

Virtual laboratories have a very important place for distant education which has real applications of laboratory tests and experiment applications. It is fact that virtual laboratories necessity is inevitable because of the requirements of materials, place, staff and above all, time and financial requirements for establishment of real laboratories. The main concept of virtual laboratory is to replace real machines with their virtual simulations. Real investigative equipment is not often available for students, researchers, and practitioners as users in addition to their expensive costs in usage. Virtual laboratories are cheap and safe in use because all mistakes can be easily erased by web-based application or simulation reset without any consequences. Furthermore users can easily make many tests regardless of place in any time on the web. In this study AISI 4140 steel was used, since AISI 4140 steel is the most well-known type of steel used in industries. Tensile test of the steel was examined regarding to different tensile speeds. The study aimed to design the web-based virtual tensile test laboratory. The uniqueness of this study is generating an artificial neural network model by using the values of the material which is stressed in different speeds. Thanks to this model, intermediate speed values were predicted. Besides that, this model was used to design web-based virtual tensile test laboratory application. With the help of this application, users can easily realize the yield strength, ultimate strength and fracture strength on stress-strain diagram.

In today's world where intensive competition exists between enterprises, it is of great importance to work in cooperation with the right suppliers. Selection of the right suppliers is a significant factor in the success of enterprises. In the selection of the best supplier (s), the strengths and weaknesses of potential suppliers should be taken into consideration. Many qualitative and quantitative criteria are included in this selection process as well as the decision-maker. One of the issues that leaves the decision maker in a difficult position is selecting the most appropriate one from the alternatives available, as traditional methods may not produce a realistic solution in this process. However, multicriteria decision making methods facilitate the process of finding a solution and enable decision makers to reach the right decisions. In this study, the fuzzy TOPSIS method, which is one of the multi-criteria decision making methods, is used in this problem area to select the most appropriate supplier of garment 'X' operating in Turkey. It is detected through analyses conducted in line with the results obtained. The ranking of the three supplier firms determined by firm X are as follows in terms of closeness index values: supplier 1, supplier 3 and supplier 2.
Dla uzyskania powodzenia w prowadzeniu przedsiębiorstw bardzo ważna jest współpraca z odpowiednimi dostawcami. Decyduje o tym szereg kryteriów, które powinny być wzięte pod uwagę. Wybór oparty na tradycyjnych metodach analizy może być trudny i zawodny, dletego też zaproponowano nową multikryterialną metodę doboru opartą na analizie zbiorów rozmytych. Analizę porównawczą przeprowadzono porównując trzech zróżnicowanych dostawców.
