Opis:
The radiation of sound waves from partially lined duct is treated by using the mode-matching method in conjunction with the Wiener-Hopf technique. The solution is obtained by modification of the Wiener-Hopf technique and involves an infinite series of unknowns which are determined from an infinite system of linear algebraic equations. Numerical solution of this system is obtained for various values of the problem parameters, whereby the effects of these parameters on the sound diffraction are studied. A perfect agreement is observed when the results of radiated field are compared numerically with a similar work existing in the literature.

This paper discusses problems of estimating the net long-wave radiation flux at the sea surface on the basis of easily measurable meteorological quantities (air and sea surface temperatures, near-surface water vapour pressure, cloudiness). Empirical data and existing formulae are compared. Additionally, an improved formula for the southern Baltic region is introduced, with a systematic error of less than 1 W m−2 and a statistical error of less than 20 W m−2.

The radiation exchange drives the plant ecosystems energy balance and provides the energy for photosynthesis, transpiration and plant growth. The investigation on net radiation and its component during vegetation season in relation to the clearness index and sun elevation in a cultivated 31-year-old mountain spruce [Picea abies (L.) Karst.] stand is presented. Downward short-wave radiation – Sd (incident on the spruce stand was the main part of the short-wave radiation balance during the whole growing season (April–October) 2008. The Sd a mount i s seasonally variable factor determined by the duration of solar shine and the atmosphere transmissivity. Obtained value of net radiation (Rn) and downward short-wave radiation (Sd) ratio amounts to 0.61 on average during the growing season 2008 documenting the importance of the downward short-wave radiation in the net radiation of investigated spruce stand.

Opis:
The flux of momentum generated by an incident wave field, commonly known as the radiation stress, plays an important role in near-shore water circulation. Many researchers use the concept of radiation stress in the calculation of cross-shore and long-shore circulation. In this paper, the traditional concept is extended to the case of vertical variation of radiation stress, and analitycal expressions for the vertical profile of radiation stress are derived. The distributions of the wave-induced radiation stress tensor with depth are studied by linear wave theory. The application of radiation stress with vertical variation is expected to play an important role in further studies of the near-shore system. Information regarding the vertical distribution of the radiation stress components ( and ) resulting from obliquely incident, shoaling waves is provided. The results show that the vertical variations of the wave-induced radiation stress tensor are significant as regards of wave propagation.

This work contains information concerning long-wave atmospheric radiation. Artificial neural networks were developed to forecast total mean hourly irradiance based on long-wave atmospheric radiation as cloudiness indicator. It was proved that using this variable in models for forecasting irradiance is wellgrounded. The proof was based on the neural networks sensitivity analysis. It was proved that neural network model is capable to utilize information carried by long wave atmospheric radiation only when the air temperature is provided as additional explanatory variable.

The main parameters of these elements were discussed taking into account a data link operation. It also provides to determine a data range for various weather conditions related to scattering and scintillation. The results of numerical analyses defined the properties of currently available FSO technologies working in the near infrared or in the short infrared range of spectrum versus the performances of the developed system. The operation of this system was verified in three different test environments. The obtained results may also contain important issues related to the practical application of any FSO system.

Opis:
The availability of light is one of the most important environmental factors influencing the floristic diversity of spring niches, especially in the specific conditions of deep, karst valleys occurring in the Ojców National Park (southern Poland). The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of solar radiation reaching the karst spring niches, on selected physiological parameters of the spring mosses: Cratoneuron filicinum (Hedw.) Spruce (obligatory krenophyte) and Brachythecium rivulare Schimp. (facultative krenophyte). The five karst spring niches (4 in the Prądnik Valley, 1 in the Sąspowska Valley) were selected for the plant material collection, in which two of the moss species tested occurred simultaneously. On sunny days, measurements of total and reflected radiation as well as the radiation balance in the full spectrum range over the vegetation were made. The temperature was measured for air, water, and on the surface and inside the plants. The collected biological material was subjected to laboratory analysis. Fresh mass of moss gametophytes was significantly the highest from plants growing on stand 5 (intermediate values of light and temperature parameters), and the lowest from mosses on stands 1 and 2 (including lowest air temperatures). Dry mass varied depending on the species and stand. The percentage of water in B. rivulare was highest in plants from  stand 4 (highest air and water temperature), and in C. filicinum from stand 5. Significantly the lowest values of this parameter were found for plants growing in stand 2 (lowest temperature of water). The electrolytes leakage from moss cells was specific and depended on the species. The greatest destabilisation of cell membranes was demonstrated in plants harvested from stands 1 and 2, where it was the coldest. The fluorescence of chlorophyll a varied depending on the moss species and the habitat of spring niches. This paper, presenting of preliminary results, is a kind of introduction to wider research in this topic.
Spruce (krenofit obligatoryjny) i Brachythecium rivulare Schimp. (krenofit fakultatywny). Do zbioru materiału roślinnego wytypowano 5 krasowych nisz źródliskowych (4 w dolinie Prądnika, 1 w dolinie Sąspowskiej), w których występowały jednocześnie obydwa gatunki mchów.

Measurements of radiation balance (Q*) were carried out in the Kaffioyra region (NW Spitsbergen) between 16 July and 31 August 2010 at three stations with different surfaces: KH on the glacial moraine of the Aavatsmark (11.5 m a.s.l.), LW1 - on the terminal moraine of the Waldemar Glacier (130 m a.s.l.), and LW2 - on the firn field of the Waldemar Glacier (375 m a.s.l.) - Fig. 1. A Kipp&Zonen CNR 4 Net Radiometer was used to register - minute by minute - the short wave radiation balance (K*), which is the difference between incoming solar radiation K? and reflected solar radiation (K?), and the long wave radiation balance (L*), which is the difference between downward long wave atmospheric radiation (L?) and upward long wave radiation (L?) - Table 1. In the studied period the maximum intensity of incoming solar radiation reached 709.4 W.m-2 at KH, 882.1 W.m-2 at LW1 and 836.2 W.m-2 at LW2. The mean diurnal sums of incoming solar radiation ranged from 11.04 MJ.m-2 at KH to 10.46 MJ.m-2 at LW1 and 10.60 MJ.m-2 at LW2 (Table 2, Fig. 2). The surface albedo varied, reaching between 13% (LW1) and 15% (KH) on the moraines, and up to 61% (LW2) on the firn field (Table 2, Fig. 3). Thus the lowest value of short wave radiation balance, +4.31 MJ.m-2, was registered at LW2, whereas it was doubled on the moraines: KH +9.50 MJ.m-2 and LW1 +9.09 MJ.m-2 (Table 4, Fig. 4). The flux of downward long wave atmospheric radiation coming from the atmosphere does not reveal any significant differences between individual stations: KH: 27.26 MJ.m-2, LW1: 27.47 MJ.m-2 and LW2 - 27.37 MJ.m-2 in 24h (Table 3). The Earth's surface (upward long wave radiation) was losing, on average: 30.31 MJ.m-2, 29.88 MJ.m-2 and 30.10 MJ.m-2, respectively, and the mean daily values of long wave radiation balance were negative: KH -3.05 MJ.m-2, LW1 -2.42 MJ.m-2 and LW2 -2.73 MJ.m-2. The surface radiation balance (Q*) was the most favourable on moraine bases: LW1 +6.67 MJ.m-2, KH +6.45 MJ.m-2, whereas the snow-covered firn field received the smallest amount of energy: LW2 +1.58 MJ.m-2 (Table 4, Fig. 5). In spite of the polar day, the diurnal cycle of the radiation balance components appears symmetrical with regard to the solar noon, related to the elevation of the sun over the horizon and the temperature of the surface and of the atmosphere. The flux of incoming solar radiation reached its peaks during midday hours with the following mean values: KH: 278.7 W.m-2, LW1: 275.9 W.m-2, and LW2: 295.2 W.m-2 (Fig. 6). At the time of lower culmination of the sun the values of K* were falling to zero. The balance of long wave radiation was negative and reached its highest values around midday hours (KH -50.0 MJ.m-2, LW1 -40.1 MJ.m-2 and LW2 -47.5 MJ.m-2). Q* was the highest in midday hours, when it was 2.5 times higher for moraine bases (KH +194.8 MJ.m-2 and LW1 +201.5 MJ.m-2) than for snow and glacial surfaces (LW2 +79.1 MJ.m-2). At low elevation of the sun Q* became negative: KH -6.8 MJ.m-2, LW1 -5.4 MJ.m-2 and LW2 -19.4 MJ.m-2. On individual days the diurnal cycle of the components of Q* was affected not only by the elevation of the sun, but also by the atmospheric state and the presence of clouds, in particular. For example, on 27 and 28 July 2010 a different weather types occurred (Table 5, Fig. 7). On the first day the sky was completely overcast with St and Sc clouds and no sunshine was observed. On the following day it cleared up with partial cloudiness (Cu, Ac, Ci), and the sunshine duration reached 16.2 h. On 27 July a slight influx of incoming solar radiation was registered (mean intensity 68.6 W.m-2, diurnal sum 5.92 MJ.m-2), K* was 5.14 MJ.m-2, and L* -0.84 MJ.m-2 due to the total cloudiness, which supported substantial downward atmospheric radiation (downward long wave atmospheric radiation 339.3 W.m-2). On the other hand, on 28 July, when the amount of cloudi-ness was moderate, the maximum intensity of incoming solar radiation was 668.7 W.m-2. In 24 hours the total radiation that reached the surface amounted to 22.04 MJ.m-2, and K* increased to 18.90 MJ.m-2. L* was negative (-5.26 MJ.m-2) due to substantial radial emittance of the ground (upward long wave radiation 352,0 W.m-2) and some downward atmospheric radiation (downward long wave atmospheric radiation 291.1 W.m-2). However, the overall radiation balance was three times higher than on 27 July and amounted to 13.65 MJ.m-2. In the studied period, the individual components of Q* were decreasing in value, as a result of the lower and lower elevation of the sun over the horizon and the ending of the polar day.

The net longwave radiation flux LW↑↓ in the Baltic Sea in 2001 has been subjected to spatial and temporal analysis. Maps of the mean monthly LW↑↓ over the Baltic were drawn using the new semi-empirical formula for the Baltic Sea (Zapadka et al. 2007). The input data for the formula, such as sea surface and air temperatures, and cloud cover, were obtained from the Tiros N/NOAA and METEOSAT 7 satellites and from the UMPLfo recast model (see http://meteo.icm.edu.pl). The mean annual LW↑↓ for 2001 was estimated at 63 W m−2 and compared with available data from other sources. The monthly maps of the net flux LW↑↓ over the Baltic show that the total values reach a minimum (LW↑↓≈50 W m−2) in April, September, October and a maximum (LW↑↓≈80 W m−2) in November. The statistical error of daily maps, on which the monthly maps were based, is no more than 18 W m−2.

Simulated fluxes were calculated from prescribed atmospheric forcing provided from the SMHI meteorological database and modelled sea surface temperatures. The comparison of these fluxes with observations demonstrates a strong correlation, even though mean differences in sensible heat fluxes range from 4 to 12 W m−2 in winter and −25 W m−2 in the June experiment. Differences in latent heat fluxes range from −10 to 23 W m−2. The short-wave radiation flux used as model forcing is on average 15 W m−2 less than the corresponding observations for the winter experiments and 40 W m−2 for the June experiment. Differences in net long-wave radiation fluxes range from −5 to 12W m−2 in winter and −62W m−2 for the June experiment. The correspondence between measured and calculated momentum fluxes is very high, which confirms the usability of our model component for calculating surface winds and wind stresses from the atmospheric surface pressure.

The experiment on Zea mays L. cv. Landmark (F1) plants was performed in a greenhouse with UV-B (305–315 nm). The pots with plants were divided into four groups: the first and the second groups were grown, respectively, at low (1.0 kJ m -2 d -1 ) and high (3.0 kJ m -2 d -1 ) biological effective dose of UV-B radiation. Half of the pots of each group were sprayed with 0.1% solution of Asahi SL (the third and fourth groups). The intensity of photosynthe- sis and transpiration, chlorophyll fluorescence, the content of UV-absorbing compounds and radical scavenging activity were measured using DPPH after four and six weeks of UV-B radiation. After six weeks of irradiation with a higher UV-B dose both flavonoid content and antioxidant activity increased by 112% and by 44%, respectively, compared to the plants grown at the lower dose. The plants treated with Asahi SL and exposed to the high dose of UV-B had the content of flavonoids 80% higher than the control ones. Asahi SL decreased scavenging activity in both groups of plants by 17% and 32%, respectively, in comparison with the untreated plants. The intensity of net photosynthesis, the transpiration rate and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters (Fv/Fo, ETR, Rfd) did not differ in most of variants.

Opis:
The stability of micropolar fluid flow in a channel under the influence of heat function, magnetic field and radiation was investigated. Using the similarity solution and non-dimensionalizing, the governing partial differential equations (PDEs) where transformed to a set of non-linear differential equations (ODEs). We therefore perturbed the system and determined the stability of the system. Wolfram 9 software (Mathematica) was used to analyze the various stability effect of the material parameters on the fluid flow. The graphical results reflects the expected physical behavior of the flow configuration under consideration. The study reveals that the Prandtl (Pr), wave (a), Radiation (R) and heat function parameters at a certain critical value of the wave number hastens the onset of stability. While the Electroconductivity (σ), Magnetic field (M), Micropolar (K) and Microrotational (λ) parameters delays the onset of stability. The result are in agreement with the works of other literature sited.

Opis:
This article is intended to show that from the standpoint of non-equilibrium thermodynamics the radiation law may be approached without resort to the thermal equilibrium conditions, quantum-mechanical considerations and Planck’s constant. In this case the radiation appears to be a process of ambient medium modulation with the oscillation frequencies intrinsic in the radiator with subsequent transfer of this excitation through the medium. In this case the excited wave, but not the particle named as photon, becomes the real quantum of radiation. The intensity of this quantum is found and the possibility is shown to thus overcome a number of the existing difficulties in comprehending and explaining the optical phenomena observed.

A design of microwave installation for energy concentration on a surface of a heated object is proposed. In the installation a dipole lattice on the basis of a single-wire transmission line is used which is located inside of reflector in a form of specular parabolic conducting cylinder. The heated object is placed in the area of microwave energy concentration. In the article a waveguide field of a surface wave in a reradiation mode is explored. The surface wave is reradiated by a group of vibrators coaxial with the waveguide wire. Results of experimental studies of field distribution along the waveguide operating in various modes are presented. The possibility of efficiency increase in reradiated field and its adjustment by contactless movement of reflector is shown.

Opis:
The radio antenna may be defined as the structure associated with the region of transition between a guided wave and free-space wave, or vice versa. Antennas convert electrons to photon, or vice versa. All involve the same basic principle that the radiation is produced by accelerated or decelerated charge. In order to enhance the reading and measurement, forward scattering technique is used to acquire more data. The aim of this paper is to highlight the theory part of radiation pattern and the analysis of this parameter. From the results, the radiation pattern of the antenna with a range of 700 MHz with the range of -11.0 dB till 10.6 dB. The results show that the maximum front lobe value is 14.4 dB. The back lobe value is 3.32 dBi and the side lobe is -18 dBi. As the gain of a directional antenna increases, the coverage distance increases, but the effective coverage angle decreases due to the lobes being pushed in a certain direction because there is a little energy on the back side of the antenna. The SWR is high in the range of 1-100 MHz with 106 but suddenly decreased to 10 at 100 MHz. The patterns are very dynamics and it less that 10 from 530 MHz to 1000 MHz. We conclude that The simulation results of this antenna structure are quite good as this antenna structure can work in particular frequency bands with a good amount of gain of 14.4 dBi, the SWR of below 10dBi, and impedance matching around 100 ohm.

Opis:
The possibility has been validated to adjust fundamental differences between classical mechanics and quantum mechanics from the position of the wave theory of matter structure. A derivation of the Planck radiation law has been offered proceeding from the assumption the wave is a true quantum of radiation. The principles of photoeffect have been explained from the positions of classical phisycs and supplemented with consideration of the photoelectric yield. The law of forming spectral series has been obtained with no involvement of quantum numbers and no assumption of electron orbit-to-orbit transition. A deterministic derivation of the Schrödinger stationary wave equation has been given as excluding the necessity of its probability interpretation. The possibility has been shown to construct in unified manner mechanics of macro- and microprocesses considering discretness of wave processes.
