- In this paper we have discussed in general terms a number of problems concerning one of the most fundamental questions of the new philosophy of technology. Valuational operations as such a question is analysed in several contexts entitled as follows: importance of this issue; science, technics, technology; philosophy of science and philosophy of technology; value theory or axiology and some oppositions characteristic for this branch of philosophy; values in science and technology; technology as an application field for ethics and morality. We defend the view that science and technology are interconnected activities which have different aims, and different patterns of progress and valuation. The connection between scientific, and technical or technological valuation is also discussed.
