Opis:
This paper presents the results of continual 17-week ADCP measurements applied to investigate the migratory behaviour of the Baltic animals. The velocities of vertical migration are determined in different ways and the results are compared. Strict correlation of the moments when downward or upward migration starts with sunrise and sunset times, is confirmed. Additionally, vertical and horizontal movements of water content are examined. Even though quite slow in comparison with horizontal flow, vertical migration exists independently of other factors.

Opis:
Reliable, rapid and non-invasive techniques are important for the monitoring of the ecosystem of the semi-enclosed Black Sea, especially sensitive to the human impact. Hydroacoustic techniques meet these requirements. In the study, the ADCP data (volume backscattering strength and water velocities), collected in the north-east part of the Black Sea in October 2014, were used to understand some biotic and abiotic processes in the environment. The study was motivated by the fact that the used ADCP mounted on the autonomous (moving vertically) platform provided measurements with significantly higher spatial resolution that it was in the previous hydroacoustical studies of Black Sea ecosystem. The main objective of the analysis was to determine the velocity of zooplankton diel vertical migration and understand the processes responsible for the variability of the volume backscattering strength.

Opis:
Acoustic measurements were conducted at different seasons in the last five years at a fixed point of the Baltic Sea at a frequency 30 kHzcon currently with temperature and salinity sampling. Echosounding records were used to determine the seasonal and diurnal migration patterns of scattering layers in accordance with thermohaline conditions. Different seasonal patterns of nocturnal aggregations of organisms dependent on the temperature gradient in the thermocline were found. This paper illustrates the diurnal distributions of sound scattering layers and analyses the way they are linked to the physical structure of the water.

Opis:
In the Radlin Rotliegend gas field (southwestern Polish Lowlands, Fore-Sudetic Region, Poznań Depression), modelling and reinterpretation of seismic data combined with surface gas surveys (free gas method) help identify "gas chimneys" and locate pathways of vertical migration. An almost impermeable Zechstein evaporite cover reduces the stream of vertical gas migration so that a dry surface geochemical zone occurs at the surface and no seismic disturbances are observed directly above the pay zone of the gas field. The surface gas anomalies form a halo-type pattern surrounding the gas field. The majority of surface hydrocarbon microseepages from the subsurface agrees with the seismically visualised geological structure. The belts of surface gas anomalies and the dry zones separating them run along the strike of Permian structures and faults. Vertical pathways of gas migration are recognisable as zones of seismic discontinuity and chaotic distribution of distinct reflections and diffracted waves. Seismic "gas chimney" effects coincide with surface hydrocarbon gas anomalies. Particularly, they appear above the upper terminations of faults disturbing the Zechstein deposits. The faults create the main a venues for secondary vertical migration of gas from the reservoir to the surface. "Gas chimneys" are observable in a shallow zone above the Muschelkalk (Tm) where higher gas saturation of more porous rocks produces a seismically traceable velocity effect.

Opis:
The most common chemical’s spills in typical transportation accidents are those with petroleum products such as diesel fuel, the consequence of which is an extensive pollution of the soil. In order to plan properly fuel recovery from the soil, it is important to gain information about the soil depth which may be affected by pollutant and to predict the pollutant concentration in different soil layers. This study deals with the impact of basic atmospheric conditions, i.e. air temperature and humidity on the diesel fuel migration through the soil. The diesel fuel was spilled into columns (L = 30 cm; D = 4.6 cm) filled with sandy and clay soil samples, and its concentrations at various depths were measured after 11 days under various air temperature (20 and 40°C) and relative humidity (30–100%) conditions. The effects observed were explained by understanding physical processes, such as fuel evaporation, diffusion and adsorption on soil grains. The increase in temperature results in higher fuel evaporation loss and its faster vertical migration. The relative humidity effect is less pronounced but more complex, and it depends much on the soil type.

Opis:
We examine the influence of groundwater flow patterns and denitrification on nitrate migration in a regional recharge zone. It has been shown that nitrate contamination has a different behaviour in regions where groundwater is exploited (where deep percolation of nitrate takes place) than where natural gradients exist (with no deep aquifer zone contamination). Multicomponent chemical tracers and isotopic methods were used in the investigation. A contaminant plume was discovered in shallow parts of the aquifer which percolated into deeper parts of the flow system in those regions with a downwards gradient induced by groundwater withdrawal, where the influence of denitrification was limited. Local conditions leading to intense denitrification, i.e., local changes in geological conditions (low-permeability silt intercalations), were also documented. Therefore, vertical changes in groundwater chemistry should be examined to ensure groundwater resource management and protection, as these are extremely important in regional recharge zones with a downwards gradient.

Opis:
Vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) is a remote bariatric restrictive procedure, more common in 1980s and initial 1990s. Many patients still possess this anatomy with its inherent complications. The reoperation rate for failure/complications reported in long-term studies is approximately 56 %, sometimes the surgical revision is technical complex and invasiveness. Sleeve gastrectomy (SG) has been at first used to revise failed restrictive procedures. This study takes in vision a patient which was operated of VBG 15 years ago. This patient underwent a Roux-n-Y Gastric Bypass because of total intra luminal mesh migration. In this case the mesh migration caused a gastric lumen stenosis, it was necessary a complex revision surgical operation to remove the tight ring.

Labour migration is discussed here in the context of the transformation of the Russian labour market. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of changes in the labour market and to the way these changes affect the structure of employment for migrant workers, their inclusion in local labour markets, and the prevalence of illegal and informal employment. Of central importance is the analysis of migrants’ vertical occupational mobility. It is concluded that the education, qualifications, and professional knowledge of migrants are not in demand in the Russian labour market; the typical path of migrants in the labour market is downward labour mobility – occupying a position that is worse than the one they previously held in their home country. Upward labour mobility is extremely rare and characteristic almost exclusively of unskilled workers.

19 poz.
One of the side effects of activities of industrial plants is pollution of water soil environment. Pollutants penetrating to soil react soil skeleton and with underground waters, and are transported together with the stream of underground waters and supply superficial waters. Ability of assessment of pollutants spreading in underground waters principles is essential especially from the point of view of monitoring of quality and protection of waters, both underground and superficial, destined to be intaken, especially as drinking or industrial water. Vertical drainage realised as barrier of wells is most often used, among many ways of the limitation of the transportation of pollutants in underground waters. On the ground in direction along with the flow of underground waters stream barrier of pumping wells is built. By pumping underground waters containing pollutants flowing from the source of contaminations, eg. from under landfill, pollutants can not flow out of the area enclosed with the barrier. Realization of such barrier has to take into account hydrological conditions on the given area. Waters pumped out from wells, in dependence on size of pollutants loading, may be turned back to the technological process, treated or pumped back to the landfill. The paper presents numerical analysis of the pumping wells barrier efficiency for limitation of pollutants migration in ground waters. The numerical assessment is based on measurement results carried out at a certain production plant. For this purpose two groups of representative pollutants were selected with a special focus on pollutants deriving from the industrial waste lagoon and from sludge drying beds of the sewage station. The numerical simulations were carried out using hydrogeological model of the production plant area elaborated in form of digital maps for the further application in the Visual Modflow Software. As a first step of the numerical modelling of the ground water flow was its verifying. It was assumed that the difference between assessed ground water table and the real taken from the measurements ground water table be less than š1.0 m. The pollutants migration analyses were divided into two phases: the first one dealt with a development of the pollution areas within a period of 2,600 days when the infiltration from the industrial waste lagoon and sewage station were as an input according to the envelope of the measurements results. The next simulation period covered the subsequent 5 years when the barrier of pumping wells was put into operation. Under the given hydrogeological circumstances the numerical assessment showed a very low efficiency of the drainage barrier of vertical pumping wells.
