Opis:
Hereby paper was dedicated to Illus Isaurian’s part played in events connected with Basiliscus’ usurpation in years of 475-476. At the stage of preparations to Basilicus’ usurpation, Illus acted as an intermediary between Basiliscus and Armatos and Verina. Zeno’s debar from posts of authority went on without bloodshed, without armed lighting, with the main part played by Verina and Basiliscus. In those circumstances most of sources take no account of Illus’ participation in those events. Under the reign of Basiliscus, Illus, who was charged with a task of Zeno’s removal, proved his abilities as an efficient politician. He was able to notice,’that Basiliscus is unable to stabilize his reign. Having estimated the state of affairs Illus decided to go over Zeno’s side and he supported Zeno in his return to authority, which enabled him to obtain the strong position at the Emperor’s side. It doesn’t seem that Zeno and Illus have ever had friendly relations with each other. Their relations were merely based on common political interest, at given moment.

Opis:
This article analyses the attitude of patriarch of Constantinople, Acacius, towards the usurpation of Basiliscus (475-476). Basiliscus took the power over in result of the palace plot iniciated by empress Verina, Leo I’s widow. At the first stage of Basiliscus’ reign the patriarch took the expectant attitude toward the new ruler. The change of Basiliscus' religious policy expressed by favouring monophysites, by ordering such monophysitic bishops like Timothy the Cat and Peter the Fuller bade from exile, by publication of encyclical disapproving the assignations of the oecumenical council in Chalcedon which Acacius didn’t want to sign, resulted in provoked the aggravation of attitude between the emperor and the patriarch. The assignation at the council in Ephesus on which Timothy the Cat led to deprivation of Constantinople patriarch out of his rights in relation to the exarchate of Asia were the turning - point. Acacius indignat at the reduction of the his rights went into unhesitating actions. He promoted riots among inhabitans of the capital and monks against the emperor, he brought St. Daniel the Slylite and that, together with disloyalty of Basiliscus’ collaborators caused his fall even so that he called off his earlier instructions conncctod with religious problems. Acacius, whom Zeno owed his return to the throne to great extent, gained a strong position keeping close to the emperor.

Opis:
Many countries have had people in power who were mower-mad and hungry for money as their representatives. In the case of Poland, there is quiet acquiescence to unethical actions by the authorities for the sake of one's own benefits, and a commonly accepted aversion to politicians (Zalec, 2022). of all kinds, which may be linked to the country's history. Those in power have become usurpers who do not care about the rules, the constitution or EU law, nor are they afraid of any punishment. Those who oppose these precedents become enemies, murderers or are accused of spreading propaganda. The country is divided into two camps - those who support the current government and those who are against it. The consequences do not only affect individuals, they are sometimes extended to entire municipalities where the current ruling party has lost the election. Ignorance or lack of civic knowledge can cause some voters to ignore the fact/not realise that their passivity is nevertheless supporting the current government. Crucial to combating this phenomenon is reliable informal citizenship education, carried out in an ongoing, emotionally charged way, appealing to the positive sides of informed citizenship and not discouraging to politics. The value of democracy should be taught. People should become open to discussing democracy, and the media should also repeat such positive messages. It is also important to remember what has happened by now.

Opis:
Modern democracy in the Polish State, as well as respect for minorities of all kinds and women themselves, is collapsing in favour of a particularly close affiliation between the State and the Church. The separation of these two institutions is becoming negligible, if it still exists, and the state and the church have become allies of each other with any educated and/or intelligent element that does not support such a practice. The medieval practices, the stigmatisation of individual groups, patriarchy and the lack of respect for the constitution oppress societies, oppress the rights of citizens and show their place in the ranks. More and more rights are granted only to privileged groups, while others, such as women, LGBTQA+, migrants, the disabled, political opponents, or anyone else who does not support the current actions of the most influential institutions, remain ignored or muddled, vis-à-vis potential voters of the ruling party. Meanwhile, influential citizens can afford to do almost anything. At present, the lord and master decides the fate of all his subjects irrespective of how many protests and on what issues take place in the state, the utter shamelessness of the official can be observed here. Those who invoke God do not seem to believe in Him and, moreover, they act contrary to His principles. What stands out most in their actions is their total ignorance, their hatred of anyone who is against them and their lack of thought for the consequences that will come to them once they lose their power. The only hope seems to be for future voters with full civic awareness.

The aristocratic titles, which the partitioning monarchies granted to some of their Polish noble subjects in the long nineteenth century, did not play a decisive role in the development and formation of the modern Polish noble elite. The foreign titles could only sanction the internal noble hierarchy, which was apparently much more determined by specific noble traditions and the cult of the pre-partition past. This argument is evidenced by the cases of families which did not need formal title grants to be recognized as truly aristocratic in that period.

Opis:
This article is inspired by Georg Simmel’s formal sociology and written in his characteristic essay style. The article is about the representation relation viewed as a form of social interaction. Contrary to approaches which are dominant in the literature, the author argues that representation is a trilateral relation: the representative always represents the representee before an audience, even if this audience is not always easy to define. The same, paradoxically, can be said about the representee. In its pure forms, the object of representation may be the very presence of the representee, the representee’s will or his/her interest and mutual expectations among the three parties will vary depending on what is being represented. Many representation relations only become such relations ex post; they are initiated not in the act of authorization but in the act of usurpation which is legalized and institutionalized not only by the representee but also by the audience. For this reason, the difference between representation and usurpation is often fluid and fuzzy. The representation relation, as it is understood in this article, is one of the main forms of social interaction because thanks to this relation people who cannot appear personally in the public sphere for various reasons can nevertheless make an appearance.

Opis:
Middle Egypt is the most fertile region in the country and its provincial governors were the richest and most powerful. Intermarriages between members of neighbouring nomarchic families created a strong power base, resulting in most governors gradually representing themselves in such forms and using formulae which are strictly royal. While there is no evidence that any of the governors actually challenged the authority of the king, it seems doubtful if the latter would have been pleased with the grand claims made by some of his top administrators and the royal prerogatives they attributed to themselves. The almost simultaneous end of Middle Kingdom nobility in different provinces, under Senwosret III, even though presumably not everywhere at exactly the same time, appears to have been the result of a planned central policy, although each province was dealt with differently and as the opportunity presented itself.

Opis:
In the paper, the author draws attention to the way in which the allegorical sense may increase the scope of text interpretation. She begins from the ambiguity of allegory in the modern literary studies connected with the relations between the process of analogy and identity. She then uses the role which allegory played in the transformation of the love image in the social conscience. Subsequently, in the interpretational material, the author points out the complications and the fatalistic stigma of love, both the love characterised by the  absolutism of connection (Dziady Part Four), and the love in which the bonds have disintegrated (On the Tower of Babel). As a result, the article indicates that on the one hand, the allegory has contributed to the absolutisation of love, and on the other, it unveils the fragility of love and consequently, its usurpation of durability.

Opis:
The article brings up issues of the removing V. Janukovych from power by Ukrainian parliament in February 2014. For that reason resolutions from that period passed by Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (concerning divesting V. Janukovych of president’s power) were discussed, particularly Resolution on February 22nd, 2014 on Self-Removal of the president of Ukraine from his Constitutional Authority and Early Elections of the president of Ukraine. Thorough analysis of Ukrainian parliament’s resolutions mentioned above in the light of legally binding Ukrainian Constitution at that time, judicial decisions of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and literature, leads to conclusion, that the divesting V. Janukovych of power by Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine occurred with violation of the Fundamental Law of Ukraine, first of all, principles of: people’s sovereignty, state power division, rule of law and supremacy of Constitution, legality of acting of bodies of state power, ban of state power usurpation, too. This analysis proves an assumption made in the article that Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine divested the Ukrainian president of power unlawfully.
