    In the face of challenges faced by today’s managers, such as unreliability of processes conducted within the company, low quality of materials, too long time of fulfilling the customer orders and missing the deadlines of their implementation, the role of dynamic parameters of the warehousing as the source of competitive advantage of a modern enterprise is growing. The aim of the study is to identify and analyze the factors determining the effective implementation of the warehousing in the Distribution Center. In the research there has been adopted the following hypothesis: with the increase in the number of customer orders, which is characterized by an increasingly smaller number of assortment items, the importance of managing constraints limiting the material flow within the warehousing is increasing. The above-mentioned hypothesis is verified in accordance with the test procedure including literature research and a case study. The research results show that the Theory of Constraints is an excellent tool supporting the transformation of the warehouse management method. With the help of the Theory of Constraints it is possible to determine precisely the places in the material flow, where the adaptation actions undertaken bring down the greatest effects.

    The article indicates that in the presence of various crises of foster care, there is a confusion of the district family support center, institutions not seeing and not hearing the needs of foster families and orphanages. It is emphasized that the reconstruction of the ability to hear problems and see the complex issues of foster care, for the district aid institution to go beyond the horizon of foster care, crises requires the dialogue and the courage to act in the field of social matters. Then, in the conditions of a local community, where the dialogue is practised, the district family support center regains the ability to see and hear the matters of the wounded world. As a result, the district family support center shapes the capacity of communication activities accompanied with the development of the local community. At the same time, this shift towards district local communities inhabitants’ everyday life is expressed in active care for foster care within the framework of dialogue workshops and educational activities. Such an orientation, in a trialectic perspective, in the weave of three dimensions of space  the internal micro-space of the institution, the meso-space of foster care and the macro-social space of the local community – allows the district family support center to transform its activities in the field of social affairs, and experience the recognition of the inhabitants of local communities.

    Analizując współczesne tendencje przekształceń miast, można zauważyć wyróżniające się dwie grupy projektów. Jedna z nich opiera się na realizowaniu postulatów zrównoważonego rozwoju w budowie miast, stawiając sobie za cel istotne dla miasta priorytety, natomiast druga zakłada realizacje dużych zadań infrastrukturalnych, polepszających funkcjonowanie wybranych obszarów miast. Wielość tych koncepcji powoduje, ze Philip Jodido postrzega lata 90. ubiegłego wieku właśnie przez pryzmat rozwoju komunikacji i systemów komunikacji, które stały się istotnym czynnikiem rozwoju, wspieranym przez administracje rządowe i samorządowe w większości państw europejskich. Konsekwencją tego był wzrost znaczenia i jakości projektów urbanistyczno-architektonicznych dotyczących tej kategorii. W tej drugiej grupie obok projektu Euralille, autorstwa Rema Koolhaasa, łączącego Paryż i Londyn trasą TGV, można wymienić koncepcje Nowego Centrum Łodzi realizowana w okolicach dworca kolejowego Łódź Fabryczna oraz Elektrociepłowni I jako centrum przesiadkowe i kulturalne miasta. Celem artykułu jest analiza funkcji oraz kompozycji koncepcji rewitalizacji tego obszaru, począwszy od masterplanu Roba Kriera z 2007 r. po projekt miejscowego planu zagospodarowania przestrzennego dla tej części miasta Lodzi opracowany przez Miejska Pracownie Urbanistyczna z Łodzi z roku 2014.
    Analyzing contemporary tendencies of cities transformations, it is possible to notice two groups of projects standing out: one of them is based on carrying out demands of the sustainable development of cities under construction, setting their priorities as an important goal, whereas the other one assumes the accomplishment of great infrastructural tasks which are designed to improve functioning of chosen areas of cities. The multitude of these concepts caused Philip Jodido to perceive the 1990s through the prism of development of transport and communication systems, which became a significant factor in the development at all, supported by administrations of central and local governments of most European countries. As a consequence, there was a growth in the importance and quality of urban-architectural projects concerning this category. In the second group, beside Rem Koolhaas’s Euralille project, linking Paris and London with TGV route, it is possible to mention the concept of Lódz’s New Centre, carried out in the environs of Lódz Fabryczna railway station and Elektrocieplownia I, as a transfer point and a cultural centre of the city. The main purpose of the article is to analyze the functional and compositional solutions used in revitalization of this area, starting with Rob Krier’s masterplan of 2007 and ending with the zoning project drawn up for this part of Lódz by the Municipal Urban Planning Studio of Lódz in 2014.

    W artykule przedstawiono trudności związane z realizacją procesu inwestycyjnego na przykładzie remontu i adaptacji secesyjnej kamienicy zmodernizowanej w 1907 roku przez olsztyńskiego przedsiębiorcę Ottona Naujacka, która w 1989 roku została wpisana do rejestru zabytków województwa warmińsko-mazurskiego. Z uwagi na znaczącą wartość historyczną budynku podstawową zasadą we wszystkich pracach było maksymalne zachowanie istniejącej substancji zabytkowej.
    The article presents the difficulties related to implementation of the investment process, within a case study covering the restoration and adaptation works pertaining to a Art Nouveau tenement house, modernized in 1907 by an Olsztynia entrepreneur, Otton Naujack. The building has been entered, in 1989, into the register of objects of cultural heritage of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Due to the high historical value of the building, the basic principle implemented within all of the undertaken work, was to retain the historical substance of the building to the largest possible extent.

    Celem niniejszego opracowania jest przedstawienie współczesnych problemów zagospodarowania i funkcjonowania historycznych, pierwotnych centrów miejskich w małych i średnich miastach na Mazowszu. Analizowane miasta podzielono na historyczne, o rodowodzie lokacyjnym i przedlokacyjnym oraz na miasta nowe, XIX i XX-wieczne. Centra miast historycznych mają w większości z nich swoją ugruntowaną pozycję i zachowują w większym lub mniejszym stopniu swoją tożsamość. W części tych miast centra utraciły po części swoje znaczenie, głównie z powodu zaniku bądź relokacji funkcji handlowych, bądź z powodu prowadzenia ruchu tranzytowego przez dawną strefę centralną. Czasem przyczyną dodatkową jest degradacja zabudowy, jak i zagospodarowania głównych przestrzeni publicznych. Artykuł zawiera ogólne sugestie proponowanych działań wzmacniających przede wszystkim znaczenie ogólnomiejskie centrum miejskiego, zwłaszcza w miastach starych. Dla miast nowych zawarto wskazówki możliwych działań wzmacniających proces kształtowania się centrum.
    The aim of this study is to present contemporary problems of development and functioning of historical centers in small and medium-sized cities in Mazovia. Analyzed cities divided into historical (location and pre-location pedigree) as well as new (XIX and XX century cities). Historic city centers have mostly their established position and retain their identity to a greater or lesser extent. In some of these cities, the centers lost their significance in part because of the disappearance or relocation of commercial functions or because of transit traffic through the former central zone. Sometimes the additional reason is the degradation of the buildings as well as the space of the main public spaces. In new cities, centers often continue to shape. Cities like Otwock usually have a vision of this development and have the courage to decide on a significant scale of transformation in order to exploit the potential of the center-creating railway station. It happens, however, as in Piastów, that not everyone is ready to make bold decisions in this regard. The article contains general suggestions of proposed actions that strengthen the importance of the city center in general, especially in old towns. For new cities, there is a hint of possible measures to strengthen the process of shaping the center.
