From the Web of Science Core Collection, 198 articles have been included which have been examined in detail according to their distribution throughout the years, types, focused subjects, writers, institutions, publishing houses and countries. This study is critical as it analyzes the subject of BGs / international new ventures (INVs) with their ever-mounting number, and the effects in the global market during the past three decades by reviewing related research under a systemized thematic umbrella and its importance in regards to significant contributions by defining four thematic top-groups (organizational, sustainability, internationalization, research) with detailed subgroups.

Analiza tematyczna artykułów pozwoliła wyszczególnić cztery kategorie analityczne: widzialności i produktywności naukowej, normatywizacji polityki naukowej, kapitału komunikacyjnego i anomii dyskursywnej.
This paper relates to the scientific study and is a summary of one of the chapters from my own PhD thesis. The aim of the paper is to present my own interpretations of the content of Polish scientific journals devoted to the issues of science and higher education. The thematic analysis gives a distinction into four analytical categories of visibility and productivity in science, the normativisation of scientific policy, communication capital and discoursive anomie.

The purpose of this paper was to identify common themes from archival records related to innovation in the Australian Public Service (APS). A thematic analysis was conducted to review and evaluate archival records which consisted of transcripts from senior manager presentations at Innovation Month seminars from 2014 to 2018 and other related official documents. This empirical study addressed innovation from the leaders’ perspective, reflecting upon their experience. Analysing themes within archival records helped to gain insights from various perspectives of leaders on how they regard an innovation agenda for the APS. Three themes emerged from archival records: (1) innovation characteristics; (2) drivers of innovation; and (3) barriers to innovation. Synthesis of these drivers and barriers can provide important insights for senior APS managers on how they can enhance their organisations’ ability to innovate in order to respond to digital disruption challenges and opportunities. Variety of perspectives with leader’s perceptions informs about authors’ selection of the research question among consistent patterns and legitimates the salient themes as input for QSR NVivo 11.

When analyzing Rôzewicz's works — using the category of motif and that of theme as a set of motifs materialized in an object — one can state that the author is preoccupied with two successive themes: that of Deluge and that of Inferno. The former is to be regarded as a literary transformation of the war experience and at the same time as an attempt at a rebuilding of thę post-apocalyptic world (the motifs of: death arid deformation of the body, world devoid of values, purifying function of the material and bodily elements — a kind of catharsis). As in the myths about the Flood a coexistence of the motifs belonging both to the tragic and the optimistic visions can be noticed. The latter theme — which is a literary picture of the present life — seems to be a materialization of two motifs only: 1) wbrld devoid of values, and 2) grotesque deformation of the body. The shift of the Deluge theme to the Inferno theme finds its expression in the materialization of the optimistic motif in the tragic vision, as well as in a change of viewpoint of the speaking subject: formerly he was seeking to identify himself with the world, now he feels compelled to accept the identity. The material and bodily element, which originally was considered beneficial, now becomes grotesque and evil.

Economic and political stability in Southeast Asia has led to a surge in Mekong dam development and construction in the 2010s. But, not only has the logistics of dam construction changed dramatically in the 35 years since Mekong hydroelectric development began; the public discourse surrounding hydroelectric development in the region has also expanded and diversified. The Mekong, while still seen by some throughout the region as a source of untapped economic opportunity, is also a source of growing concern for states who are losing control of the dams’ ecological impact. Both of these visions of the river are framed in the public imagination of various states by their respective media's chosen depiction of the issue of dam development. Through an examination of the discourse surrounding Mekong hydro development in the four Mekong River Commission (MRC) states, this paper explores the divergent interests of states currently engaged in a complex water diplomacy. Themes drawn from the English-language press coverage in Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam are compared to determine how the unique geographic and economic positioning of each state shapes their media's depiction of Mekong dam development. Shared concerns about environmental damage, MRC weakness, and economic futures are also explored.
Ekonomiczna i polityczna stabilizacja w południowo-wschodniej Azji doprowadziła po 2010 r. do podjęcia decyzji o budowie zapór na rzece Mekong. Od czasu, gdy 35 lat temu rozpoczął się rozwój energetyki wodnej na rzece Mekong wiele się zmieniło i to nie tylko od strony logistycznej, także dyskusja publiczna odnosząca się do przyszłości hydroenergetyki w regionie uległa rozszerzeniu. Rzeka nadal postrzegana jest przez wielu jako potencjalne źródło ekonomicznego wzrostu, zarazem jest przedmiotem rosnących obaw dla krajów, które wydają się nie być w stanie utrzymać pod kontrolą ekologicznych konsekwencji budowy zapór. Oba podejścia trafiają do obiegu publicznego w poszczególnych krajach dzięki doniesieniom medialnym. W niniejszym artykule dokonano przeglądu dyskursu wokół rozwoju hydroenergetyki na rzece Mekong w czterech krajach należących do Komisji ds. rzeki Mekong (Mekong River Commission. MRC), ukazano rozbieżności w preferencjach poszczególnych krajów, zaangażowanych w skomplikowaną dyplomacje wodną. Porównano treści publikowane w anglojęzycznej w Laosie, w Tajlandii, Kambodży i Wietnamie, w celu ustalenia, w jaki sposób unikalne położenie geograficzne i gospodarcze każdego państwa kształtuje obraz ich mediów w kontekście budowy kolejnych zapór na rzece Mekong. Omówiono również wspólne obawy dotyczące szkód wyrządzonych środowisku naturalnemu, słabości komisji MRC i konsekwencji tego stanu dla przyszłości ekonomicznej regionu.

Purpose – With pay transparency (PT) as an emerging trend in organizations around the world and the European Union promoting open pay regulations, PT is of increasing interest to scientists, managers and policymakers. However, it is still unclear what people think about PT and what theoretical perspectives might explain people’s views on transparent pay. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore and systematize opinions about PT and to propose theoretical frameworks to understand different reactions to it. Design/methodology/approach – Qualitative reflexive thematic analysis of the Internet debate that emerged in Poland in 2019 in response to the proposition of new law regulations aimed to improve PT by introducing obligatory pay ranges in job offers. Findings – The author’s analysis revealed a set of 41 specific and often opposite opinions about PT, which allow for the systematization of hopes and concerns related to PT around the 7 favorable and 6 unfavorable higher-order themes. Social implications – The author’s results might inform policymakers and managers about the possible risks and benefits of PT implementation. Revealed opposite opinions about PT raise awareness that PT policies, while solving some social problems, might simultaneously create others. Originality/value – The author provides new insights into opinions that people hold about transparent pay based on real-world data. The author suggests theoretical perspectives for understanding and predicting reactions to PT, such as Hobfoll’s Conservation of Resources Theory and Adam's Equity Theory. Based on this, the authors propose that opposite opinions about PT might be explained by (a) perceived pay dispersion fairness and (b) perceived PT costs-benefits ratio.

This study delves into the narratives employed by Belarusian propaganda during the Russo-Ukrainian War, examining 1,750 news items from Belarusian state media sources and the progovernment Telegram channels from September 1st to November 30th, 2022. The research employs the Looqme methodology, a robust content analysis approach that involves systematically coding and categorizing textual data to identify key thematic blocks and subthemes. The findings reveal a carefully crafted narrative aimed at demonizing Ukraine, promoting alternative realities, and glorifying military service. By portraying the West as a source of instability and danger, the propaganda fosters public support for Belarus’s stance on the conflict. Additionally, the study exposes the use of historical manipulation and reinforcement of negative portrayals through quoting Russian authorities. The study highlights the role of language manipulation and selective presentation of events in shaping public opinion, providing valuable insights for countering disinformation and fostering objective reporting in times of conflict.

The aim of this study is to present the results of analyses of PhD dissertations defended abroad and in the Czech Republic in the years 2006–2012 in the field of foreign language didactics. Building on a body of previous work, methodological background for a meta-analysis of the topics of PhD dissertations defended in selected countries abroad as well as for an analysis of PhD dissertations defended in the Czech Republic is presented. The results are then discussed and compared. We conclude that the range of topics addressed in the Czech dissertations does not significantly differ from the state of art abroad, although some areas, such as language learners, seem to be under-researched in the Czech Republic.

Femicide—the killing of a female because of her gender—is becoming an increased object of sociological enquiry, rectifying years of invisibility. The article presents results from ethnographic interviews with three migrant women who survived “failed femicides.” A “failed femicide” is defined as an attempted femicide where the medical examination of the victim confirmed a life-threatening event, the victim had been hospitalized in emergency, and she or the perpetrator had described the event as an attempted murder. It is argued that failed femicides should be added to the growing literature on domestic violence, on the one hand, and femicide, on the other. The article presents narratives from three survivors of failed femicide attempts among Ethiopian female migrants in Israel. They present an interesting contrast to large-scale, quantitative, ethnocentric, male-oriented studies of femicide focusing on Western women. Since few women actually survive femicide attempts, the nature of the small sample should not deter the scholar from the depth of migrant women’s plights. The survivor narratives were analyzed by means of thematic analysis. The analysis produced five key categories: village society in Ethiopia; cycle of domestic violence; motive; weapon; and recourse to authorities. The themes provided understanding into these migrant women’s subjective experiences and the ways they understood events. While no generalizations can be made, the article may encourage comparisons with other failed femicide survivor narratives from other migrant women originating and residing in different settings. With the increase of migrants the world over, non-Western survivor narratives may become an increasingly important tool for policy-makers and for academics to understand how femicides occur, how migrant women perceive them, and how they can be combated.

Doubts about vaccination in spite of the availability of vaccines are called “vaccine hesitancy”. In the digital age vaccine hesitancy is significantly influenced by information from the Internet, online communication and discussions on social media. The research of the language of such discussion is very important for understanding attitudes of people towards vaccination. The vaccine hesitancy discourse varies from country to country due to its social context, but also has many similarities. The aim of the research was to describe the thematic structure of the online discourse of vaccine hesitancy in social media. We analyzed Russian language social media discussions around COVID-19 vaccination. Comments were selected from four most active discussion groups. Thematic analysis was implemented for data organization and interpretation. Main themes identified are as follows: doubts about the safety of vaccination; doubts about the effectiveness of vaccination; doubts about the need for vaccination; doubts about the fairness of vaccination. The study of discourses of vaccine hesitancy in different languages makes a significant contribution to understanding the general patterns of functioning of discourse in the field of health, in particular, discourse about vaccination. This qualitative exploration is a follow-up study to the quantitative research published in a peer-reviewed international journal in 2023. Generally, the study delved into the transition experiences and preferences of 20 Filipino education supervisors in relation to their supervisory practices in over 80 Philippine public schools. Through validated open-ended interview questions, the responses were gathered and subsequently subjected to thematic analysis, which resulted in the emergence of the following themes: (1) the adjustments and challenges of the supervisors as they switched back from technology-assisted to in-person supervision; and (2) their preferred mode of supervision in the new normal of education.

In times of violent conflicts, societies tend to promote narratives that enable successful coping with the situation. Official collective memory can thus provide foundation for a group’s belonging, mobilization, persistence. On the other hand, it often perpetuates the animosity by, for example, delegitimizing (and often dehumanizing) the other side. In this article, we explore whether unofficial personal memories of a violent conflict could mitigate the damage in intergroup relations done by the dominating narratives. We conducted a secondary thematic analysis of 38 interviews with civilians and soldiers in the Post-Yugoslav wars (1991–1995). The themes we report here offer deeply personal and humanizing accounts of the war experience, which have largely remained outside traditional historiography.

This article regards written autobiographical narratives of people who stutter. The collected material was analysed using both the quantitative and the qualitative method. The aim of the research was to determine whether the issue of stuttering is touched upon in autobiographical narratives of people who stutter. If so, what portion of the narrative is dedicated to the theme of non-fluency of speech. The conducted analyses permitted the verification of the hypotheses posed. It was concluded that the ones including the theme of stuttering were predominant among the narratives collected. Stuttering is present both as a separate thread and as part of other thematic threads. Threads where the issue of non-fluency of speech was taken up most frequently can be distinguished in the analysed narratives.

National anthems, along with the national flag, stamps and monuments, are important features of a state's identity. The lyrics and music instill patriotism and nationalism on holidays, at sporting events, and in children at school. This study examines the lyrics of 42 Caribbean, Pacific, African, Asian and European island state anthems to identify patterns and themes. While word frequencies difer between the regions, dominant themes reflect unity, hope, a spiritual/divine heritage, home and homeland, and pleasant environmental settings. Themes reflecting times of strife, struggles and conflict are also evident.

The novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that is currently causing challenges and opportunities in all sectors worldwide. The logistic industry plays an enormous role in keeping the countries functional, and it accounts for 13.4 % of the total GDP in Thailand. This article aims to identify and justify critical success factors for the Logistic Industries experiencing success and failure during the pandemic. The research was conducted using semi-structured interviews with top managers of three companies from March to September 2021, which is phase 4 of the pandemic. The findings we analysed using thematic analysis to understand the critical factors within the industry. Logistics companies of different sizes were selected for this purpose as case studies aimed to identify the resemblance of the effects and find the relationship with company resilience. Five key supporting factors were identified for the logistics firms to be resilient during the pandemic, including flexibility, Business Continuity Plan, market diversification, IT systems, and leadership.
