Opis:
The work presents the research results of the silumin coat structure applied on the carbidic alloy ductile iron with the metal matrix: pearlitic, bainitic and martensitic. The coats were made in the AlSi5 silumin bath at the temperature tk = 750±5ºC. The holding time of cast iron element in the bath was \tau = 180s. Irrespective of the kind of tested ductile iron the obtained coat consisted of three layers with a different phase composition. The first layer from the cast iron ground “g1” is built from Fe4CSi carbide which contains selected alloy additives of the cast iron. On it the second layer “g1” crystallizes. It consists of the AlFeSi inter-metallic phase which can appear in its pure form or contain a small quantity of the alloy additives of the cast iron. The last external part of the layer “g2” mainly consists of the hypo-eutectic phases of silumin. The AlFeSi inter-metallic phases in the form of free precipitations with a lamellar or faceted morphology can also appear there. These phases also can contain a small quantity of the alloy additives of the cast iron. More than that, in all the layers of the coat there are graphite precipitations. The phenomenon of graphite movement to the coat is caused by intensive dissolving of the cast iron element surface by the aluminum of the silumin bath.

Opis:
The paper presents results of preliminary examinations on possibility of determining binder content in traditional moulding sands with the microwave method. The presented measurements were carried-out using a special stand, the so-called slot line. Binder content in the sandmix was determined by measurements of absorption damping Ad and insertion losses IL of electromagnetic wave. One of main advantages of the suggested new method of binder content measurement is short measuring time.

Opis:
The work presents the analysis results of the structure of the coat obtained by dipping in silumin AlSi5 of two grades of alloy cast steel: GX6CrNiTi18-10 (LH18N9T) and GX39Cr13 (LH14). The temperature of the silumin bath was 750-5 C, and the hold-up time of the cast steel element [...] = 180 s. The absolute thickness of the coat obtained in the given conditions was g = 104 [...] on cast steel GX6CrNiTi18-10 and g = 132 [...] on GX39Cr13. The obtained coat consisted of three layers of different phase structure. The first layer from the base [...] was constructed of the phase AlFe including Si and alloy additives of the tested cast steel grades: Cr and Ni (GX6CrNiTi18-10) and Cr (GX39Cr13). The second layer [...] of intermetallic phases AlFe which also contains Si and Cr crystallizes on it. The last, external layer 'g2' of the coat consists of the silumin containing the intermetallic phases AlFeSi which additionally can contain alloy additives of the cast steel. It was shown that there were no carbides on the coat of the tested cast steels which are the component of their microstructure, as it took place in the case of the coat on the high speed steels.

Opis:
More and more strict regulations, concerning the environment protection, force the producers of materials for foundry industry to develop new products, more friendly for the environment. One of such products are furfuryl resins, which currently have the largest share within the group of no-bake moulding sands. Regulations introduced in the last years in the European Union concerning limitations of a free furfuryl alcohol content (< 25%) in resins as well as pressures to reduce SO2, formaldehyde, phenol, benzene, toluene and compounds from the PAHs group emissions, especially at work stands, caused an appearance of the new generation of furfuryl resins and catalysts (of a decreased sulphur content or even sulphur-free). The analysis of the influence of these new products, applied in the moulding sands with furfuryl resins technology, on the environment and work conditions was performed in the hereby paper.

Opis:
This article presents the preparation of composite casts made using the technology of precise casting by the method of melted models. The composite was reinforced with the ceramic sinter from Al2O3 particle shaped in a printed polystyrene female mould, which was fired together with precured ceramics. The resulting ceramic preform, after being saturated with paraffin and after the filling system is installed, was filled with liquid moulding sand and fired together with the mould. The reinforcement was saturated by means of the counter-pressure exerting action on the metal column, being a resultant of pressures inside and outside the chamber. The preliminary assessment showed no apparent defects in the shape of the cast. The casting was measured and the figures were compared with the dimensions of the matrix in which the reinforcing preform was made, the preform after firing and after saturation with paraffin. The results were presented in a table and dimensional deviations were determined. The composite casting was subjected to metallographic tests, which excluded any porous defects or damage to the reinforcement. It can therefore be said that, according to the predictions resulting from the previous calculations, the pressure values used allowed for complete filling of the reinforcement capillaries. The proposed method is therefore suitable for the preparation of precision composite castings with complex shapes.

Opis:
In the paper, presented are measurements of permittivity (εr) and dielectric loss factor (tgδ) of high-silica moulding sand, determined at 2.45 GHz by perturbation method on a stand of waveguide resonance cavity. Determined were electrical properties of the main component of moulding sands, i.e. high-silica base, critical for their heating kinetics. The measurements were carried-out for six kinds of high-silica sand with diverse grain size distribution. Analysis of the results indicates that both permittivity and loss tangent values are similar for all kinds of high-silica moulding sand. Irrespective of their grain size analysis, neither of the examined sandmixes shows susceptibility to action of 2.45 GHz microwave field. The presented results make a ground for developing a mathematical model of microwave heating of technological systems composed of moulding sand and foundry tooling.

Opis:
The casting processes using mechanical stirring of composite suspension are considered for the most economical methods for manufacturing of metal matrix composites in the application and industrial practice. The most common problems during the composite suspensions production include: weak wetting between liquid Al alloy and ceramic particles and gassing of composite mixtures resulting with introducing the particles into aluminium alloy and long-term stirring process. The agglomerates and clusters of particles created among others as an effect of gas blisters absorption on the surface of ceramics causes discontinuity of composite structure and thereby they reduce properties of final products. The porosity has disadvantageous effect on mechanical properties of products, it reduces the corrosion and wear resistance, particularly under technically dry friction conditions. Therefore, to produced the casts composite possessed optimal properties, it is necessary their minimal porosity. To obtaining a good high-quality castings, the proper selection of components, particularly the chemical composition of the Al matrix and the kind of reinforcement are necessary. In this paper, the effect of chemical composition of the matrix on AlSi/SiCp+Cp composite structure were presented.

Prototypes were developed as part of the student formula project, where several parts originally produced by machining were replaced by castings. The techniques of topological optimization and the combination with the tools of the numerical simulation were used to optimise the virtual prototype before a real production of the first prototype. 3D printing of wax pattern ensured direct and fast assembly of the cluster without any additional operations and troubles during dewaxing. The shell was manufactured in 6 hours thanks to a system of quick-drying of individual layers of ceramic shell. It has been verified that the right combination of individual virtual tools with the rapid prototyping can shorten the development time and delivery of the first prototypes from a few months to a few weeks.

Opis:
The paper presents a research on abrasion resistance of selected construction materials designed for foundry tooling applied in the innovative microwave heating process of moulding and core sands. One of the main selection criteria of the materials for foundry tooling, in particular for models, moulding boards, moulding boxes and core boxes, is their good abrasive wear resistance. Usability of the selected polymeric materials, designed for foundry tooling used in electromagnetic field, is decided also by other evaluation criteria determined in the examinations, like thermal resistance and electrical properties. Abrasion resistance of the selected materials was determined for three grades of the moulding sand matrixes. Combined analysis of the determined abrasion resistance, considering also electrical properties and thermal resistance of the foundry tooling materials, characterising their usability for microwave heating of moulding and core sands, will make possible their systemising with respect to effectiveness and efficiency of the heating process, taking under consideration durability of such foundry tooling to be used in industrial conditions.
W pracy zaprezentowano wyniki badań odporności na ścieranie wybranych materiałów konstrukcyjnych przeznaczonych do budowy oprzyrządowania odlewniczego przewidywanego do zastosowania w innowacyjnym procesie nagrzewania mikrofalowego mas formierskich i rdzeniowych.
