In the work of a dentist there are many factors that affect the occupational risk. They cover the area of the human factor, work organization and technical area. The latter often determines the safety and ergonomics of the workplace. The purpose of this article is to identify occupational hazards in the work of a dentist, with particular emphasis on the technical area. The method used in the article is a survey supported by observation with elements of a direct interview. The research tool used in the article is a questionnaire in the form of a checklist.

Opis:
The main causes of damage to wooden structures in historic buildings are the effects of weather conditions and related aging processes. In the case of the roof truss of a 16thcentury church in Lubów, the technical condition is additionally affected by leaking roof covering, damaged gutters, downpipes and flashings. Some elements of the wooden structure underwent biological corrosion, which lost its strength values. The roof truss of a 16th-century church in Lubów comes from the period of construction of the building. Due to the historic values of the structure of the truss, the renovation works do not intervene when the works would change its form, shape and type. The truss renovation is based on the assumption of maintaining original construction solutions, location of elements and cross-sections.

The high-pressure water jet comminution of coal is presents in the paper. For such procedure a special prototype of hydrojetting apparatus have been developed. Three different types of coal were examined: hard-, brown-, and charcoal. Obtained results point out that high-pressure water jet usage for such a purpose is very effective. Brown coal is slightly for charcoal. Such micronization effect gives even over 100,000 times increase Moreover charcoal susceptibility for intensive hydro-comminution causes that one can get the most comminuted structure what is a good prognosis for its modification into bio-fuels.

Recent years have shown increased interest in the use of glass structures in the construction industry. Investors value qualities such as aesthetics and the good environmental resistance of glass. It has become commonplace to use glass not only to construct façades, but also in horizontal partitions (floors, building coverings ) and in such elements as protective canopies, passageway screens or fire barriers. Such extensive use of this building material has been made possible by the development of technology for manufacturing glass with improved strength properties, in particular, toughened and laminated glass. However, glass has some disadvantages as a building material – first of all, low tensile strength, impact strength and point load compressive strength. The use of glass with improved strength properties minimises these defects to a considerable extent. Nevertheless, it sometimes happens that glass structures crack or lose their aesthetic value. This results from errors made during the design stage as well as during the construction work on the structure. Based on an “in situ” study and the literature on the subject, the article identifies risks associated with the use of glass elements, in addition to analysing their causes and possible effects. Examples of real elements in the course of their use are provided in order to illustrate the factors under analysis. Moreover, the article includes recommendations linked to the safe usage of glass in the structure when discussed against the background of assembly errors.

Geothermal resources have been used in Poland since the 90s of the last century. Since then, several geothermal heating plants, recreation and balneological centers have been operated. Accessing geothermal resources is possible due to deep boreholes that are either brand-new wells or old but revitalized petroleum and/or exploratory wells. In this case, the construction of production and injection wells is of significant importance. The utilization of deep geothermal energy resources is strongly dependent on the binding domestic law regulations - primarily in case of acquiring the concession enabling an execution of geological and drilling works, and subsequently a proper exploitation. The paper presents the current state of development of the geothermal energy sector in Poland, indicating examples of exploitation systems based on deep boreholes. Furthermore, the constructions of existing wells are discussed extensively. The existing examples of old but reconstructed wells in Poland, are characterized. The importance of national law and its influence on the development of a geothermal investment is highlighted, as well.

In the paper, selected visualization methods are described such as: surface rendering, volume rendering and the simplest approach basing on texture mapping. This work, however, does not aim at a detailed description of those methods but at a friendly presentation of possible ways of visualization and their features which can be of importance for a physician who has some expectations or needs, such as gaining insight into a 3-D object. Those expectations can be satisfied for example by making incisions or using surface transparency option which significantly improves visualization effect and can be of use in diagnostic process.

In the article the problem of preserving geometric design conditions by devices of sluices is presented. The problem was illustrated by alignment of the shaft flap of the sluice on the Gliwicki Channel. Within changing the flap drive it was necessary also to perform the realignment of the flap. From the geodetic point of view, the problem was to perform coaxial setting of the two mutually invisible shafts flap within an accuracy not exceeding 0.5 mm. Thanks to first — class measuring equipment and aiding equipments (author’s patents) it was possible to achieve this goal.
W artykule przedstawiono problem zachowania projektowych warunków geometrycznych przez urządzenia śluz, co zilustrowano osiowaniem klapy śluzy na Kanale Gliwickim. Przy okazji zmiany sposobu napędu klapy zaszła konieczność jej ponownego osiowania. Z geodezyjnego punktu widzenia problem polegał na współosiowym ustawieniu dwóch wzajemnie niewidocznych wałów klapy z dokładnością nieprzekraczającą 0,5 mm. Dzięki zastosowaniu sprzętu pomiarowego najwyższej klasy oraz urządzeń wspomagających (patentów autora) udało się osiągnąć zamierzony cel.

District heating networks are key components of efficient heat supply systems for municipal and industrial consumers. The purpose of the research presented in this article was to analyze the thermo-hydraulic parameters of the operation of a transmission main in a district heating network to improve the heat transfer efficiency. Based on a literature review of existing studies, the basic issues of the heat supply process were discussed, and selected methods and tools for simulating district heating networks were characterized. A detailed mathematical description of the phenomena occurring during heat transport in a district heating network pipeline was also presented. Then, analytical calculations and simulations were carried out for the selected district heating system using Termis software. Operational parameters collected in the actual district heating system were used as output data for analytical modeling. Pressure drops, power losses, and heat transfer efficiencies in the main buses at different outdoor temperatures during the heating season were determined. Selected results of the study were included, and possibilities for improving the efficiency of heat transfer in the studied district heating network were indicated.

Opis:
A test of the accuracy in transferring the virtual data into the surgical environment was carried out. Differences between the virtually planned and the actual position during surgery of the rapid prototyped guides and the bone plates were investigated. The accuracy of the method was evaluated in terms of the precision of cuts in the mandible, the final positions of the rami and condyles, and the sectioning precision of the fibula. The guide position presented a mean value dislocation of 0.6 mm in the right side and of 4.1 mm in the left side; the cut line of the mandible presented an angular deviation of 2.9° (right) and of 17.5° (left). The right condyle was positioned 2.5 ± 0.05 mm more medial than native position, and the left condyle 5.2 ± 0.05 mm medial. The total length was 0.3 ± 0.05 mm short of the virtually projected length at the inferior margin of the mandible and 1.9 ± 0.05 mm longer than projected at the superior margin. The Prosthetically Guided Maxillofacial Surgery (PGMS) is a viable way to improve the precision of mandibular reconstruction using a fibula free flap.

Modernization of the land and buildings cadastre is a set of actions aimed at improving the quality of data collected there. Application in the process of modernization of the sources of information from the land surveying, gives fully satisfactory results. On the other hand the use of photogrammetric measurements is the solution more economical in terms of financial and time. However, there is a danger of obtaining the results which do not meet the standards of accuracy of the border points position. The paper presents an example of the results of the influence of the process of modernizing the land and buildings cadastre for the areas where the source material are cadastral maps in the scale 1: 2000, created on the basis of photomaps or cadastral maps in the scale 1: 2880. An assessment of the suitability of these materials in the process of modernization and their impact on the current form of the land and building cadastre as a public register was made.

W artykule omówiono normy prawne regulujące czas pracy kierowców samochodów o nośności powyżej 3,5 tony oraz urządzenia stosowane do rejestracji czasu ich pracy. Okazuje się, że w praktyce regulacje te stwarzają dla kierowców wiele problemów. Powoduje to, że czasami podejmowane są próby omijania tych przepisów. W pracy przedstawiono przykłady działań związanych z tym procesem. Dotyczą one głównie ingerencji w pracę urządzeń rejestrujących parametry jazdy samochodem. Przykłady te dotyczą typowych działań podejmowanych w stosunku do tachometrów samochodowych. Należy podkreślić, że są one niezgodne z przepisami i podlegają stosownym karom. Nie mniej w praktyce zdarzają się dość często. Głównym celem pracy było przybliżenie zasad i unormowań obowiązujących w transporcie samochodowym oraz problemów technicznych związanych z ich stosowaniem.
In the article, there are presented the discussion of the legal standards governing the working time for car drivers with a capacity of over 3.5 tones and the equipment used to record of their work time. In practice, these regulations pose many problems for drivers. This makes that sometimes attempts are made to avoid these rules. The paper presents examples of activities related to this process. These actions mainly concern the interference in the operation of recording equipment the limits of driving the car. These examples illustrate the typical activities undertaken with respect to car tachometers. It is important to point out that they are illegal and subject to appropriate penalties. The aim of the article was to approximate the rules and regulations governing of car transport and the technical problems related to their use.

W artykule przedstawiono metodykę poboru próbek wód termalnych z trzech otworów eksploatacyjnych Bańska PGP-1, Bańska PGP-3, Bańska IG-1 oraz instalacji ciepłowni geotermalnej. Zaproponowano rozwiązania konstrukcyjne podłączeń wężyka używanego do poboru do króćców próbobiorczych znajdujących się w punktach pomiarowych, wykonane z łatwo dostępnych i tanich materiałów. Zaprezentowano również schemat chłodzenia wód termalnych bez kontaktu z powietrzem w celu wykonania pomiaru parametrów nietrwałych w systemie on-line za pomocą miernika z elektrodami dostosowanymi do niższego zakresu temperatur niż temperatura wód termalnych. Przedstawione rozwiązania zweryfikowano za pomocą eksperymentu pomiarowego oraz sprawdzono pod kątem obowiązujących norm i wytycznych.
This paper presents the methodology of sampling three exploiting wells (Bańska PGP-1, Bańska PGP-3, Bańska IG-1) and the element of the installation of the thermal heating station. The designed solutions were presented by connecting sampling tube to the sampling spigots located at the measurement points, made from commonly available and inexpensive materials. The scheme of cooling the geothermal waters without contact with the air in order to perform an on-line measurement of the instable parameters, using gauges with electrodes adapted to the lower temperature than the temperature of the thermal waters was also presented. The proposed solutions were verified by means of the measurement experiment and were checked according to the applicable and relevant standards and guidelines.

Ze względu na konieczność eksploatacji pokładów zalegających na coraz większych głębokościach istnieje konieczność rozwiązania problemu dostępu do tych złóż. Ograniczenia inwestycyjne w branży spowodowały, że wiele kopalń decyduje się na prowadzenie eksploatacji podpoziomowej. Zasadnym wydaje się jednak rozważenie możliwości tradycyjnego rozwiązania tego problemu, czyli budowy nowych szybów, lub/i pogłębiania już istniejących. Każde z wymienionych rozwiązań ma swoje zalety i wady. W artykule przedstawiono wybrane aspekty techniczne procesu głębienia i pogłębiania szybów. Założono bowiem, że rozwiązanie to w wielu przypadkach jest znacznie bardziej opłacalne niż eksploatacja podpoziomowa. Omówiono stosowane obecnie metody głębienia szybów, z uwzględnieniem nowoczesnych systemów urabiających, transportowych, obudowy szybowej oraz bezpieczeństwa tego procesu. Celem prezentowanego materiału jest przekonanie, że przy obecnym stanie techniki, budowa nowych szybów i pogłębianie już istniejących ma sens ekonomiczny i techniczny.
Due to a necessity of exploitation of seam laying at greater depths there is a need of resolving a problem of gaining access to those deposits. Limiting of investments in the industry has led many of the mines to conduct sublevel mining. However, it seems reasonable to consider a possibility of a traditional solution to this problem, which is sinking new shafts or deepening existing ones. All of the presented solutions have their pros and cons. The article presents chosen technical aspects of sinking and deepening mine shafts. It was assumed, that this solution is in many cases much more profitable than sublevel exploitation. Currently employed methods of shaft deepening, along with coal shearing and transport systems, shaft reinforcement and safety of this process were discussed. Aim of the presented work is to reason that in current state of technology sinking new shafts and deepening existing ones makes sense economically and technically.

Opis:
Elektroencefalografia jest techniką powszechnie stosowaną w diagnostyce medycznej oraz w badaniach. W artykule opisano zasadę pomiarów EEG i scharakteryzowano aparaturę pomiarową oraz metody rejestracji. Artykuł podzielony jest na dwie części. W pierwszej przedstawiono metody rejestracji sygnałów EEG oraz ich zastosowania kliniczne, a w drugiej narzędzia analizy widmowej. W pracy zostały użyte rzeczywiste sekwencje sygnałów EEG określone przez lekarza jako sygnały prawidłowe oraz wskazujące na chorobę (napadowe). Ich analiza została wykonana za pomocą szybkiej transformaty Fouriera oraz dyskretnej transformaty falkowej. Obliczano widmo mocy, a uzyskane średnie wartości mocy spektralnej stanowiły podstawę wskazania stanu patologicznego.
Electroencephalography, as an electrophysiological method to record electrical activity of the brain, is commonly used in medicine and research areas. This article presents theoretical basics of EEG measurement. This method is still being developed. The greatest emphasis is put on improvement of the measuring equipment and recording methods. The solutions to improve hardware and software are still sought. This article is divided into two main parts. The first part explains EEG recording and its clinical applications. Epilepsy is the most common neurological disorder. The future trends in the development of EEG are pointed out. In the second part spectral analysis tools are presented. The EEG signal has nonlinear and nonstationary properties In the paper, real EEG sequences described by a doctor as normal and epileptic (ictal) are used. The analysis is performed using fast Fourier transform and discrete wavelet transform. The power spectrum in each frequency band is calculated. The obtained average power spectral values allow to distinguish epileptic sequences. Spectral analysis is considered to be a potential tool that may aid in the diagnosis of neurological diseases.

Sustainable development means the shift towards the use of sustainable renewable Energy sources. The development of wind energy is certainly one of the most successful examples of how to do this. Wind power engineering is the fastest developing branch of the global Energy industry. In 2014, the world reached the highest level of new wind turbines installed, a capacity more than 51 GW. This means that the share of wind in total electricity production is increasing, reaching, in some countries, outstanding values (for example, 39% of total electricity consumption in Denmark in 2014). The total capacity of a new wind turbine is comparable with the biggest traditional electrical power plants and the total installed capacity of the energy system. However, it causes specific problems of interconnection, operation, and putting such installations in traditional energy systems with traditional energy sources. There are good chances that the Kaliningrad region energy system in the nearest future would have to go into isolate operation because of the disconnection of Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian energy systems from Russian networks. If that is the case, the development of wind energy in the Kaliningrad region could become one of the most attractive options for a sustainable future of power engineering.

Opis:
Mikoryzacja jest to symbioza między grzybami a korzeniami roślin uprawnych. Symbioza ta jest wzajemnie korzystna, ponieważ grzyb zyskuje siedlisko i dostęp do związków organicznych z korzeniami roślin, natomiast roślina udostępnia składniki mineralne z podłoża dzięki mineralizacji jak i znacznemu zwiększeniu pobierania składników pokarmowych poprzez pozakorzeniowe strzępki symbiotanta grzybowego. Na podstawie dotychczasowych badań laboratoryjnych określono optymalną liczbę propagul żywych w stosunku do czasu miksowania i rozcieńczenia. Wyniki badań umożliwiły dokonanie analizy matematycznej i opisanie tego modelem matematycznym oraz opisanie technologii mikoryzacji i nawożenia w różnych fazach wzrostu roślin.
On the basis of laboratory investigations the optimum number of live and dead particles of vegetative mycorrhiza mycelium in relation to mixing time and hydration rate were found. Results of the investigations gave possibility to carry out mathematical analyse, which cover process of growth of live mycelium particles and describe the growth by mathematical model. Effects of mycorrhiza process (using vegetative mycelium produced by Mycoflor firm) on overground and underground growth of plants (on an example of Th. occ. Szmaragd var.) were presented in some previous papers prepared by the Author.
