Opis:
The article outlines the transformation of educational experience of student teachers in solving educational situations into their pedagogical knowledge, using self-reflection. Self-reflection is not understood here only as a turn to the past (to what a student was doing) but mainly to the future. So it does not concern introspection, but active anticipation of new educational situations by a student and his/her practical behaviour. The author tried to determine basic moments of the process of transforming educational experience into knowledge: attempts of a student to act actively in an educational situation, feed-back from students (how their attention was attracted during microteaching), but also from observing colleagues, self-reflection, students searching for the dynamism of his/her behaviour (contrasts between what he/she already knows and what he/she still does not know, what he/she still lacks to manage the situation, which can lead to understanding this situation), the repetition of student attempts to act in another educational situation, the higher level of student self-reflection with the utilization of feedback.

Opis:
The paper seeks to bring home to theorists and practitioners of education one of the branches of pedagogical thought, namely existential pedagogy. The main line of thinking in pedagogy can be defined in the following way: the point is to help people to overcome their banal existence and help them to choose a way towards authentic existence. Thus formulated watchword of this trend opens a new perspective on pedagogical thinking of great importance both theoretical and practical. It is true that in the end of the 1960s the peculiar vogue for existentialism was in the wane. Nevertheless it brought about a vivid interest in philosophy, introduced a new approach in many domains of science, including pedagogy. Consequently, the reality of education and its planning could better be recognized. By opening to what is non-verifiable, existentialism made it possible to seek after the sense of existence and education (interest in the noetic dimension), and to quest after a climate in which one could adopt an attitude of openness and overcome abstract categories (V. Frankl). The very categories of existentialism are significant, starting with the category of „existence” (Lat. existere - take place, exist, appear, be outside, go towards). Owing to existentialism such categories as „freedom,” experience etc. have clearly received a dynamic dimension in pedagogy. The author points to existentialism as a branch of contemporary philosophical thought with which is connected its appearance in pedagogical thought. The author devotes much attention, within the framework of basic problems of existential pedagogy, to the tasks and objectives of education. He does this by turning our attention to the axiology of existential pedagogy, understanding of the educational relationship, the role of educator/teacher and pupil/student in the overall dynamism of the educational process. Then he goes on to outline an existential approach to the methodology of education and instruction. By showing the main aspects of the existentialist trend in pedagogical thought, the paper may become a help in understanding not only how to approach the reality of education in the future, but also how to understand many ideas that have been imported to pedagogical thought by existentialism. Undoubtedly, existentialism has contributed to the recognition of the role of human experiences and emotions in the formation of personality. This can also be seen as an important element in the formation of a society that is more capable of empathy, dialogue, reconciliation, and sensitivity. It is especially valuable of existentialism that it has directed pedagogical thinking towards planning (in relation with the be-project idea) and the carrying out of plans in the future. They call for the climate of empathy, agreement, dialogue, and collaboration with others. Existentialism has faced criticism, but has also won great popularity and recognition. At least some of these attitudes are illustrated in the paper. Generally, one can say that undoubtedly existentialism has had its role in stressing a living concrete anew in pedagogical thought. Among other things, it has contributed a lot to the issue of coming to terms between individualism and socialization, subjectivism and objectivism, solving these problems by way of compromise between the two kinds of opposition.

Opis:
This paper draws attention to the significance of implicit pedagogical knowledge in the educational process of future teaching staff. Implicit pedagogical knowledge is here understood to be the “hidden” knowledge of students of teaching, which originates on the basis of their prior experience, is derived from a student’s implicit theories of learning and teaching, is interlinked with their explicit knowledge – and which influences the behaviour of the student in a pedagogical situation. In the process of creating and developing implicit pedagogical knowledge, the author considers the following to be key elements: self-reflection and the publicising and sharing of pedagogical experience. He indicates that it is absolutely essential that the traditional understanding (such as has been handed down to-date in the literature) be enriched by a new dimension – and especially by the dimension of one’s personality. He offers a newly-coined term “pedagogical condition”, which is understood to describe the ability and flexibility of a student to behave proactively under a variety of pedagogical situations.

The paper presents the results of the research which was carried out as part of the project: Current controversies about human origins. Between anthropology and the Bible. This project focuses on the supposed conflict between natural sciences and some branches of the humanities (notably philosophy and theology) with regard to the origin of man. The research was aimed at finding out whether such a conflict really exits. For one thing, we cannot exclude the possibility that these would-be controversies have no factual ground and that their significance is inflated by American popular literature. If, on the other hand, we assume that the conflict is real, it should be worthwhile examining its sources. Such an approach may prove helpful in systematising the highly emotional debates about the origin of man. One of the ways of tackling the issue was the questionnaire which was distributed among students, teachers and university professors. Our respondents represented three disciplines: theology, philosophy and the natural sciences, the paper will present selected results of the questionnaire which was addressed to a group of school teachers, whereas the responses of the students are given less attention in order to emphasise the teachers’ point of view, the teachers of religion and the natural sciences (biology, chemistry and physics) and the students of theology, philosophy and the natural sciences (specialising in biology and environment protection) were asked to fill in the form consisting of eleven questions, these questions concerned the following issues: the existence of the conflict between evolutionism and creationism, the definitions of creation and evolution, the existence of the spiritual element in man, ways of interpreting the Bible (esp. the first chapters of the Book of Genesis). Out of 1000 questionnaires sent out, we received 449, which should be considered a satisfactory number, given the fact that it was the first time this type of research was carried out in Poland.

The paper explores some aspects of the minimal student education. What attracts one's attention are: the dyad encompassing the academic teacher and the minimal student; and the triad encompassing the academic teacher, the minimal student and the educational institution. The hypothesis orchestrating this study, preliminary as it is, contains the assumption that the minimal learner profile disturbs both relations, bringing about the violation of the educational process. As a result, the methodological verification of the teaching procedures, as well as the psycholinguistic awareness raising process, have to be introduced if the minimal student education is to be continued.

The book underlines the teacher’s undisputable role, and in particular the underlying cognitive force in the human capacity to seek, to see and to understand. Further the book focuses on the intersubjective classroom, i.e. teacher and students working in a common frame of cognition. The main challenge for school in the coming centuries should not be teaching about peace, but caring for peace. Further, enlightenment for life should be the school subject in front, and school should meet the individual pupil as a unique and irreplaceable individual, a school where care more than career becomes a prerequisite for learning.

The article concentrates on the attitudes of the future teachers toward their profession. We were interested in what kind of information about their future profession (together with prejudice, stereotypes etc.) the students have and how they feel about it from their personal perspective. We used a questionnaire with 69 items Likert scale. 34 men and 104 women, all of them university students of teacher training, represented the respondents. They live in villages, small and big cities; their parents are (are not) teachers, they have (have not) a certain teacher as a model. Female students, who have a model and parents who are teachers, have more realistic attitudes towards their profession, but altogether we have obtained the results of positive attitudes of the respondents towards the job from the whole group, which is a good ground for them.

Over the past decades, corpus linguistics has become widespread in studies dealing with applied linguistics. Teachers have become acquainted with corpus lingustic methods and are using computer technology in their professional practice. A well-known example is the learner corpora with which researchers managed to attain invaluable results concerning various aspects of learner language. This article, however, presents a new field within corpus linguistics: the teacher corpus. A corpus on teacher language (instead of learner language) has a lot to offer in terms of methodology and pedagogy.

The article presents different forms of students’ passivity according to the theory of the transactional analysis. The essence of passivity phenomenon is that students do not get enough positive sign recognition – strokes, which come as a result of unawareness and it does not supply student’s requirements as a consequence. The author emphasizes changes in educational system which cause didactic aspect to become more important but the aspect of pedagogical process loses its significance which could be the source of growth of passive behavior among students.

The goal of the study is to give the teachers’ perspective on challenges and rewards of inclusive education for students with special needs. Participants (N=50) were teachers of four mainstream schools involved in inclusive education through a model demonstration project. The data were collected through a written questionnaire and a focus group. The results show that the participating teachers believe in the message of inclusive education and have embraced it. The challenges are related to (a) lack of adequate professional preparation to work with students with special needs in general and in inclusive settings, in particular; (b) lack of administrative support such as reduced class size and teaching load; (c) lack of support by other professionals and special education teachers; and (d) lack of any supportive resources such as special equipment and modified didactic materials.
