Opis:
W artykule przedstawiono opracowane wzorce filtracji służące do oceny powtarzalności wskazań aparatury pomiarowej stosowanej do wyznaczania penetracji aerozoli testowych przez materiały filtracyjne stosowane w sprzęcie ochrony układu oddechowego. Wzorce mogą być stosowane do oceny rezultatów z użyciem zarówno aerozolu chlorku sodu, jak i mgły oleju parafinowego.
This article presents developed standard filters that can be used for assessing the repeatability of tests stands for performing penetration tests of standard aerosols through filtering materials which are used in the manufacture of respiratory protective devices. Standard filters can be used for estimating test results obtained with the use of both sodium chloride and paraffin oil mist.

Opis:
In this paper an application of evolutionary algorithm to design minimal phase digital filters with non-standard amplitude characteristics and with finite bit word length is presented. Four digital filters with infinite impulse response were designed using the proposed method. These digital filters possess: linearly falling characteristics, linearly growing characteristics, nonlinearly falling characteristics, and nonlinearly growing characteristics, and they are designed using bit words with an assumed length. This bit word length is connected with a processing register size. This register size depends on hardware possibilities where digital filter is to be implemented. In this paper, a modification of the mutation operator is introduced too. Due to this modification, better results were obtained in relation to the results obtained using the evolutionary algorithm with other mutation operators. The digital filters designed using the proposed method can be directly implemented in the hardware (DSP system) without any additional modifications.

Opis:
In this paper it is shown that M class PMU (Phasor Measurement Unit) reference model for phasor estimation recommended by the IEEE Standard C37.118.1 with the Amendment 1 is not compliant with the Standard. The reference filter preserves only the limits for TVE (total vector error), and exceeds FE (frequency error) and RFE (rate of frequency error) limits. As a remedy we propose new filters for phasor estimation for M class PMU that are fully compliant with the Standard requirements. The proposed filters are designed: 1) by the window method; 2) as flat-top windows; or as 3) optimal min-max filters. The results for all Standard compliance tests are presented, confirming good performance of the proposed filters. The proposed filters are fixed at the nominal frequency, i.e. frequency tracking and adaptive filter tuning are not required, therefore they are well suited for application in lowcost popular PMUs.

Opis:
The article presents basic concepts related to accredited calibration laboratories in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025. It describes in detail one of the only few existing in Poland calibration laboratories which deals with instruments for sound measurements. This laboratory is an interesting case as it is the only one in Poland, located in a company developing new instruments, producing, selling them and conducting their service in all over the world. Thanks to this location, the laboratory is able to provide their services not only in Poland but also abroad, which could affect revenues. In the paper laboratory equipment is presented and the innovative ways to increase measurement throughput is discussed. The calibration and measurement capability developed on the basis of uncertainty budgets is given. The activities carried out during the calibration are presented as well as the contents of the first page of the certificate. In the conclusions the strengths of the laboratory are listed.

A new approach is needed to test particle filters for retrofitting Diesel engines. Considering the toxicity of the particles as also the physical and chemical attributes of particle filters, the optimal scheme is to test the components themselves independent of the deployment. That scheme ensures the highest effectiveness with least effort. It also enables evaluation of worst-case situations and assesses the hazards of secondary emissions. The Swiss standard SNR 277 205, which mandates the VERT test procedure, is a first step in that direction. Occupational health specialists have studied the toxicity of ultraflne particles for more than 100 years. Extremely toxic are the particles intruding into the lung. Larger particles, which are always naturally present, are intercepted in the upper respiratory paths. The body then expels these larger particles rapidly via the mucus and cilia. The new manmade particles less-than l mi m, however massively intrude into the fine pulmonary alveoli, which do not have the cleansing mechanism. The targeted efficiencies for evaluating modern filters are evident from the progress achieved. Many filters have filtration rates exceeding 99.9%, albeit the directives [4] only require 97%.

The solution is derived from the physics of the filter media. The filtration of fine particles essentially depends on the particle size and the space velocity. The attributes of the emitting engine are only insignificantly relevant. Hence the physics and chemistry of particle filters can be investigated independent of the engine and its deployment duty. This concept facilitates a very thorough investigation of the size-dependent filtration, aging susceptibility, secondary emissions and extreme situations. Filter systems, which pass this detailed test, perform equally well in every retrofit configuration. This filter test concept was implemented 1998 in the VERT project and is successful for assessing retrofltting [4]. VERT approved fllter systems are already deployed in the Low Emission Zones of Europe, North and South America.
