Opis:
When the machine is at high speed, serious problems occur, such as high frequency loss, difficult thermal management, and the rotor structural strength insufficiency. In this paper, the performances of two high-speed permanent magnet generators (HSPMGs) with different rotational speeds and the same torque are compared and analyzed. The two-dimensional finite element model (FEM) of the 117 kW, 60 000 rpm HSPMG is established. By comparing a calculation result and test data, the accuracy of the model is verified. On this basis, the 40 kW, 20 000 rpm HSPMG is designed and the FEM is established. The relationship between the voltage regulation sensitivity and power factor of the two HSPMGs is determined. The influence mechanism of the voltage regulation sensitivity is further revealed. In addition, the air-gap flux density is decomposed by the Fourier transform principle, and the influence degree of different harmonic orders on the HSPMG performance is determined. The method to reduce the harmonic content is further proposed. Finally, the method to improve the HSPMG overload capacity is obtained by studying the maximum power. The research showed that the HSPMG at low speed (20 000 rpm) has high sensitivity of the voltage regulation, while the HSPMG at high speed (60 000 rpm) is superior to the HSPMG at low speed in reducing the harmonic content and increasing the overload capacity.

Opis:
The uncontrolled rectifier and controlled rectifier which use fixed switching frequency control strategy are applied usually during the working of a high-power high- speed permanent magnet generator (HSPMG). Even for the controlled rectifier, it will generate harmonics. The electromagnetic performance of the HSPMG is also affected by these harmonics. In this paper, the influences of the fixed switching frequency control strategy on a HSPMG were studied. Based on the Fourier theory, the harmonic currents of the generator were analyzed, and the change of harmonic distribution range and current total harmonic distortion (THD) were obtained. By using an indirect field-circuit coupling method, the influences of the fixed switching frequency control strategy on the losses and torque of the generator were analyzed. The relations between the switching frequency and the losses and torque of the generator were obtained, and the change mechanism of the loss was revealed. The obtained conclusions can provide reference for the optimized choice of the switching frequency of the distributed generation system with the HSPMG. It can also provide support for the HSPMG electromagnetic structural optimization and the optimization of the loss and harmonic on the system level.

Opis:
Super high speed permanent magnet generators (SHSPMG) usually operate at high frequency. The external characteristic of the SHSPMG under condition of high frequency operation is quite different from that of conventional generators. Therefore, it is necessary to study the external characteristic of the SHSPMG. Based on the finite element method, this paper studied the factors that affect the external characteristic of the SHSPMG. Combining the vector method and the finite element method, the external characteristic of the SHSPMG with the inductive load and the resistance load was studied. The variation law of the generator terminal voltage with the change of the load and current was obtained, and the key factors affecting the external characteristic of the SHSPMG were determined. The influences of the armature resistance, power factor, frequency and permanent magnet performance on the external characteristic of the SHSPMG were studied. The influence mechanism of different parameters on the generator external characteristic was revealed. The influence degree of each factor on the voltage regulation was determined. The conclusions can provide reference for the design and research of the SHSPMG.

Opis:
The mathematical formulation and the algorithm for the calculation of the static characteristics of steady-state high-power generator with permanent magnet excitation is proposed. The study was carried out using the circuit theory methods, which are based on the nonlinear theory of electric machines of alternate current and an invariant theory of approximation of functions. The described mathematical model is butli based on the conventional assumptions. It allows you to analyze the magnetic state of the machine at the reference current and power factor, and also – to count an external characteristic over the entire range of possible loads. The novelty of the approach is in excluding a procedure of numerical integration of differential-algebraic equations systems from calculation algorithm. The main purpose of this model – voltage rating of generator under load at the prime design of the high-speed machines. Results of the calculation of regime values obtained by the proposed method and results, which were calculated on adequate field model of the same machine, which uses 2D to FEM-analysis are compared. Elements of the proposed methods of calculation of the magnetic state of high-speed machines with permanent magnet excitation can be used for calculation of the mechanical characteristics of the PMSM motors.
Ponadto w artykule przedstawiono porównanie wyników obliczeń z proponowanej metody z obliczeniami uzyskanymi z modelu matematycznego opartego na teorii polowej analizowanej maszyny.

Opis:
The Small Hydro Power Plants allow to increase the energy amount from renewable sources, especially from small rivers in mountainous areas. This paper presents a new concept of a energy conversion system for application in a Small Hydropower Plant (SHP) which is based on a permanent magnet generator (PM generator) with a propeller turbine integrated with the generator rotor. The PM generator can work at a variable speed and therefore energy produced by the PM generator has to be converted by means of a power electronic unit to fit to the three-phase power grid parameters. For this concept, dimensions and parameters of the PM generator were specially designed on account of integration with water turbine. The paper precisely describes elements of energy conversion system and also presents the results of numerical tests for chosen working conditions. An original algorithm of control strategy for power electronic unit was used to adjust generated energy to the required parameters of the three-phase grid.

Opis:
In this paper, an independent wind energy conversion system was studied with the control strategies used to provide power specifically to the areas far from the grid. In this research, three strategies are designed and used in order to stabilize the output. This system contains a directed rectifier which is responsible for maximum power point tracking. Additionally, a common DC bus and a fully controlled inverter were designed. An LC filter was also used in the system in order to eliminate switching harmonics to a considerable extent and provide a reliable noiseless source for load supply. Since the power demand and the produced power of the turbine are variable and indistinguishable in each moment, a depletion load is also placed in the system. In this study, it was observed that the designed strategies prove the output stability in different sections and under different conditions with resonators and non-linear PI and PID controllers. The designed strategies were also supported by the simulation results.
