Opis:
An approach to determine a scheduling policy for a sensor network monitoring some spatial domain in order to identify unknown parameters of a distributed system is discussed. Given a finite number of possible sites at which sensors are located, the activation schedule for scanning sensors is provided so as to maximize a criterion defined on the Fisher information matrix associated with the estimated parameters. The related combinatorial problem is relaxed through operating on the density of sensors in lieu of individual sensor positions. Then, based on the adaptation of pairwise communication algorithms and the idea of running consensus, a numerical scheme is developed which distributes the computational burden between the network nodes. As a result, a simple exchange algorithm is outlined to solve the design problem in a decentralized fashion.

Opis:
It is possible to make analyses within the field of GIS applying cellular automata. One of the purposes of socio-economic geography is indirect understanding of the phenomenon by analyzing spatial patterns and inferring spatio-temporal processes looking rather for local hotspots. The cellular automata are the tool both for spatio-temporal inferring based on local conditions and data visualization. The evidence is the case study of spatial simulation of Warsaw Urban Area (Poland). The author verifies the hypothesis that the present layout and extent of the Warsaw agglomeration determines further directions of the city's spatial development. To this end, he employs a method based on cellular automata theory.

Opis:
We perform simulations of time-resolved optical experiments of carrier-capture processes in a quantum wire-dot system. Scattering of charge carriers with optical phonons of the quantum wire can result in transitions from the continuum states of the quantum wire to discrete states of the quantum dot. We treat the scattering of carriers with optical phonons within a Lindblad single-particle approach. By considering the coupling of carriers to a light field we are able to simulate pump-probe experiments which are shown to be capable of measuring the captured populations. We further discuss the influence of the Coulomb interaction on the obtained spectra.

Opis:
Iterative Learning Control (ILC) is well established in control of linear and nonlinear dynamic systems, both as to underlying theory and experimental validation. This approach specifically aims at applications with the same operation repeated over finite time intervals and reset taking place between subsequent executions (the trials). The main principle behind ILC is to suitably use information from previous trials in selection of the input signal in the current trial with the objective of performance improvement from trial to trial. In this paper, new computationally efficient results are presented for an extension of the ILC approach to the uncertain 2D systems that arise from time and space discretization of partial differential equations. This type of application implies the need to use a spatio–temporal setting for the analysis of the control procedure. The resulting control laws can be computed using Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). An illustrative example is provided.
