The article highlights important issues of the resocialization of juvenile offenders under correctional colony. Formation of social competence is considered as the appropriate instrument to bring about successful resocialization. The emphasis is laid on the scientific interpretation of the results of the experimental work aimed at revealing the influence of the developed by the author model of social and educational work with juvenile convicts on the levels of formation of social competence. These influences include specific techniques and application of psychological and pedagogical study of personality peculiarities of the convicted, utilization of correctional, educational, informational and psychological-educational programs, means of social, educational and the psychosocial support to the juvenile prisoners.

Opis:
Social competence (SC) is one of the most important competences required for successful performance of the teaching profession. Strengthening students’ social and emotional competences provides aid and support for lifelong learning and social and emotional implementation of the teaching process. By triangulating the results of a questionnaire, sociometry and interviews with students of teacher study, a significant level of social competence was observed. Students’ sociometric status is not in full accordance with their self-assessment of SC, so more frequent are the allocations of popular students, but one rejected. SC is usually acquired in the family; college is placed in second place, which increases the importance of this issue in terms of intentional education.

Language skills provide preschoolers with the foundational skills needed to socially interact, but little is known about the relationship between specific language skills and broad constructs of social competence. Sixteen preschoolers between 3-5 years with varying language abilities were recruited. Descriptive and correlational analyses were conducted to examine the relationships between language and social competence. The main finding of this study showed that early literacy skills and word knowledge and retrieval were significantly correlated with Social Independence and Social Interaction respectively. These findings support the notion that the content of preschoolers’ conversations rather than the accuracy of their speech or syntax is associated with success in social interaction and social independence.

Social competences are one of the most important areas of an individual’s functioning in the surrounding environment. They are so important that, apart from knowledge and skills, they have become one of higher education’s outcomes. The level of social competence depends not only on the internal qualities of an individual but also on environmental factors. This article aims to present the findings of research concerning the level of social competences attained by students of tourism and recreation throughout their higher education and comprises quantitative and qualitative research methods. The results indicate that students show only average levels of social competence even though their academic teachers declare that education outcomes have been accomplished in this field.

Warunkiem zaistnienia autentycznej sytuacji dialogu jest Spotkanie człowieka w relacji Ja-Ty. Kompetencję społeczne warunkują efektywność funkcjonowania w sytuacjach społecznych. W prezentowanym opracowaniu dialog ujęto jako warunek rozwoju kompetencji społecznych. Indywidualne doświadczenia dialogu jest istotne dla empatycznego rozumienia innych. Dialogi wewnętrzne pełnią funkcje adaptacyjne i rozwojowe. Człowiek jest kreatorem znaczeń jakie nadaje doświadczeniom osobistym i społecznym. Dialog nadaje sens wartościom w międzypodmiotowej przestrzeni dialogicznej. Kreowanie dialogu i rozwój kompetencji stanowią wielowymiarową przestrzeń. Może być ona źródłem inspiracji do podejmowania nowych tematów badawczych.
Social competences in the space of experiencing dialogue constitute an important and current topic of the study undertaken. The condition for the existence of an authentic situation of dialogue is the Human Meeting in the I-You relationship. Social competence determines the efficiency of functioning in social situations. In the presented study, the dialogue was included as a condition for the development of social competences. Individual experiences of dialogue are essential for the empathic understanding of others. Internal dialogues have adaptive and developmental functions. Man is the creator of meanings, which he gives to personal and social experience. Dialogue gives meaning to values in the cross-subject dialogue space. The creation of dialogue and competence development constitute a multidimensional space. It can be a source of inspiration for new research topics.

Body memory is a relatively new philosophical notion, entangled in interiorization of the past – paradoxically this entanglement liberates the individual from the dictature of the present flow and enables her/his autonomy. The author intends to show that this apparent ensnarement, with all its difficult genesis, makes us responsible, active agents, influencing our environment. To achieve this objective, she chooses to describe the painful of ambiguous process of training and drill of the body, immersing us in social patterns, and thus in the living past. This path leads us – a paradox again – to the arduous and painstaking rediscovery of the issue of subject. There is still hope that we can recuperate this vanishing notion, reinterpreting the most essential classical themes of philosophy, such as time and transcendentality. But the subject matter remains opaque, and requires further reflection.

Autorka analizuje problem budowy relacji społecznych, skupiając się na szczegółowej analizie problemu w  trzech kategoriach: budowy kontaktów społecznych, problemu lęku w  tychże kontaktach oraz wsparcia społecznego. Analiza kontaktów społecznych skupia się na wyszczególnieniu prawidłowości i nieprawidłowości w budowie relacji społecznych. Autorka charakteryzuje tego typu relacje, podkreślając potrzebę przynależności do grupy społecznej, jakość kontaktów społecznych, szczegółowo opisuje czynniki istotne w nawiązywaniu relacji społecznych oraz podkreśla umiejętność ich podtrzymywania i  kształtowania. Autorka podkreśla wagę problemu zaburzeń w kontaktach społecznych i wynikającą z nich postawę lękową, opisując kształto- wanie się stylu lękowo-ambiwalentnego, zaburzenia lękowe i  depresyjne oraz objawy świadczące o postawie lękowej. W artykule zwrócono również uwagę na młodzież jako grupę szczególnie narażoną na doświadczanie zjawisk lękowych. Ostatnia część rozważań została poświęcona wsparciu społecznemu, które zdaniem psychologów najskuteczniej chroni jednostkę ludzką przed pojawieniem się lęku.
The author analyses the social contacts’ building problem. She focuses on three categories: the social contacts’ building process, the problem of fear and the social support issue. In the analyzing of social contacts she focuses on regularities and irregularities in this type of contacts. The author underlines the need of membership to social group, the quality of social contacts, the most important factors in establishing social relationship and ability of forming and supporting of this type of relationship. The authors stresses the problem of social contacts disorders and anxiety attitude. She describes the forming of anxiety and ambivalent style, anxiety and depressive disorders and manifestations of the anxiety attitude. She was attracted her attention to young people as the group peculiarly exposed for experiencing anxiety phenomena. The last part of deliberations was devoted to social reinforcements. According to psychologist this type of reinforcement is most effectively protecting the human individual from the appearance of fear.

The aim of this article is to present results of a study concerning the level of social competences displayed by students of tourism and recreation and how it relates to their work experience. The author hypothesized that the fact of being employed could help to differentiate between different levels of social competences in the student population. Factors such as the length of work experience, positions held, work abroad, internships, and voluntary work were analysed. The study was based on quantitative and qualitative data collected using such tools such as the Social Competence Questionnaire and the Questionnaire for Self-Assessment of Student’s Professional Achievements in order to identify forms of professional activity among the respondents. Full-time students of tourism and recreation were found to have an average level of social competences, and their work experience, considered as a form of social training, did not differentiate between different levels of social competence. No statistically significant correlations were found between the level of social competence and internships at secondary schools, internships at university, work experience in general and in tourism and recreation in particular, and voluntary work. Also, positions held did not differentiate the level of social competence. It could therefore be concluded that the respondents’ work experience was too short to have a measurable effect on the level of their social competences, which take much more time to develop and depend on personal and environmental factors.

The paper presents original study and its findings concerning the possibility of using personality traits and motivational traits as predictors of social competence. According to the findings, motivational traits, including social anxiety and managerial and organisational interests, correlate highly with social competence in situations of social exposure and requiring self-assertion. Hence, motivational traits are highly useful predictors of social competence in both types of social situations. Moreover empirical findings point out that in order to increase the accuracy of estimating social competence both personality traits and motivational traits should be considered. Measurement of both traits estimates the level of social competence more accurately than the measurement of personality traits. Implication for occupational selection is discussed.

Cel badań. Celem badań była analiza kompetencji społecznych fizjoterapeutów w ich samoocenie oraz w ocenie ich pacjentów z uwzględnieniem płci, wieku, poziomu wykształcenia oraz ( w wypadku fizjoterapeutów) miejsca i stażu pracy. Materiał i metoda. W badaniu wzięło udział 120 osób pracujących z regionu Podkarpacia, w tym 60 fizjoterapeutów oceniających samych siebie oraz 60 pacjentów oceniających swoich fizjoterapeutów. Do oceny kompetencji społecznych fizjoterapeutów wykorzystano standaryzowany Kwestionariusz Kompetencji Społecznych (KKS). W celu analizy statystycznej różnic wyników KKS pomiędzy samooceną fizjoterapeutów a oceną pacjentów zastosowano testy t-Studenta, U Manna-Whitneya i Kruskala-Wallisa. Wyniki uznano za istotne statystycznie dla p 0,05. Wyniki. Badane fizjoterapeutki w samoocenie KKS uzyskały przeciętne wyniki (sten 5), a fizjoterapeuci wysokie (sten 6). W ocenie fizjoterapeutów dokonanej przez ich pacjentów, zarówno kobiety, jak i mężczyźni uzyskali wysoki wynik w zakresie kompetencji społecznych (sten 6) świadczący o ich dużych kompetencjach społecznych. Stwierdzono również różnice w wynikach kompetencji społecznych w samoocenie fizjoterapeutów w zależności od płci. Wnioski. Kompetencje społeczne fizjoterapeutów są oceniane przez ich pacjentów niezależnie od płci, wieku i poziomu wykształcenia bardzo wysoko. Fizjoterapeuci, zwłaszcza kobiety, bardziej krytycznie oceniają swoje kompetencje. Samoocena dokonywana przez fizjoterapeutów jest niezależna od poziomu wykształcenia, wieku i stażu pracy.
Background. The aim of the study was to analyse the social competence of physiotherapists in their self-assessment and in their patients’ opinion with the consideration of gender, age, educational level, place of work, and seniority. Material and methods. The study involved 120 people working in Subcarpathia, including 60 physiotherapists evaluating themselves and 60 patients assessing their physiotherapists. The standardized Social Competence Questionnaire was used to assess the social competence of physiotherapists. For the statistical analysis of differences in the questionnaire results between the physiotherapists’ self-assessments and their evaluation made by their patients, the t-Student, U Mann-Whitney, and Kruskal-Wallis tests were applied. The results were considered statistically significant for p 0,05. Results. The female physiotherapists obtained average results in the self-assessment (sten 5), while the outcomes were high for males (sten 6). In the case of patients’ evaluation, both male and female physiotherapists achieved high social competence scores (sten 6). Conclusions. The social competence of physiotherapists in the assessment of their patients is very high regardless of gender, age, or education level of the patients. Physiotherapists, particularly women, evaluate their own competence more critically than their patients. Regardless of age, level of education, place of work, and seniority, male physiotherapists highly assess their competence. The level of physiotherapists’ social competence is high and patients are satisfied with their therapists’ work.
