Opis:
The signs of the times, as particular phenomena in human history, demand above all to be recognized in relation to revelation. Because this the Bible that creates the true background for their theological understanding and at the same time for their salvific character. The human interpretation of the meaning of a sign, including in terms of religious content, is characterized by a rather diverse perspective. Generally speaking, it can be reduced to positive and negative, but it undoubtedly contributes to the experience and development of a person. However, in a theological sense, the signs of the times leave a lasting feeling of both inaccessibility and cognitive inexhaustibility.

Opis:
Contemporary theologians apply the historic notion of loci theologici also to media and film. Films that show the Church in a critical way are also theologically significant. Therefore, one should be aware of the appearance of documentaries and feature films, which raise the issue of sexual abuse against the youngest (paedophilia) also in the Church. The article presents the most important films, produced since the end of the 20th century, whose authors present the crime of paedophilia, its victims, the mechanisms leading to its concealment and silence not only in the Church, but also in the media and society. Films about paedophilia, which are a recognisable voice of victims in the public space, a cry for truth and justice, can also be useful tools for media education.

Artykuł przedstawia zagadnienie rozeznawania i interpretacji znaków czasów w liturgicznym przepowiadaniu słowa Bożego. Zwraca uwagę, że w przygotowaniu homilii poza egzegezą biblijną i hermeneutyką liturgiczną ważna jest również analiza antropologiczna życia słuchaczy homilii. Jest to swoista egzegeza homilijna działania Ducha Świętego w Ludzie Bożym. W znakach czasów ujawnia się bowiem Jego inspiracja i działanie. Choć nie są one jakościowo równe z Pismem Świętym, są jednak specyficzną mową świata do Kościoła i swoistym głosem Bożym do Kościoła, wypowiadanym przez świat. Wyrażają potrzeby i oczekiwania aktualnego pokolenia wobec Boga. W związku z tym, postulując ewangeliczne rozeznawanie znaków czasów, zaproponowano paradygmat personalistyczno-chrystocentryczny, metodę i konkretne wyznaczniki tego procesu oraz wskazano wnioski wobec praktyki homilijnej i dydaktyki homiletycznej.
The article presents the issue of discernment and interpretation of the signs of the times in the liturgical proclamation of the word of God. He points out that in the preparation of the homily, apart from biblical exegesis and liturgical hermeneutics, it is also important to analyze the anthropological life of the homilies’ listeners. It is a homily exegesis of the Holy Spirit’s action in the People of God. The signs of the times reveal His inspiration and action. Although they are not qualitatively equal to the Scriptures, they are, however, a specific speech of the world to the Church and a specific God’s voice to the Church expressed by the world. They express the needs and expectations of the current generation for God. In connection with this, postulating the evangelical discernment of the signs of the times, a personalisticChristocentric paradigm, a method and concrete determinants of this process are proposed, and conclusions for homily practices and homiletic didactics are suggested.

Teologia znaków czasu stanowi istotny element duszpasterskiej strategii Kościoła oraz jedną z podstawowych kategorii teologicznych związanych z właściwym odczytaniem wzajemnych relacji Kościoła ze światem. Jej rozkwit nastąpił wraz z pontyfikatem Jana XXIII, który przywrócił do terminologii kościelnej wyrażenie „znaki czasu”, nadając mu nowe znaczenie. Idea znaków czasu znalazła także swoje odbicie w nauczaniu Vaticanum II. Artykuł jest próbą ukazania inspiracji dla teologii znaków czasu płynących z nauczania soborowej Konstytucji duszpasterskiej o Kościele w świecie współczesnym. W tym celu omówiono najpierw samo pojęcie „znaki czasu”, które nie doczekało się dotąd jednoznacznego zdefiniowania. Następnie zaprezentowano wskazania sformułowane przez Gaudium et spes dotyczące sposobów interpretacji znaków czasu. Na koniec ukazano cel rozpoznawania i badania znaków czasu przez Kościół.
The theology of signs of the times is an essential element of the pastoral strategy of the Church and is one of the basic theological categories related to properly discovering the mutual relations between the Church and the world. The development of that theology began during the pontificate of John XXIII, who brought back the expression “signs of the times” in ecclesial terminology and gave it new meaning. The idea of “the signs of the times” has made its imprint on the teachings of Vatican II. This article is an attempt to present the inspirations for the theology of the signs of the times contained in the Apostolic constitution On the Church in the Modern World. For that purpose the expression “signs of the times” was explained, which as of yet has no explicit definition. The article then presents the recommendations formulated by the Gaudium et spes on the ways of interpreting the signs of the times. At the end the objectives of recognition and study of the signs of the times by the Church were disclosed.

W artykule Autor analizuje koncepcję wiary zawartą w Porta fidei Benedykta XVI. Skupia się na poszukiwaniu tych elementów definicji wiary, które – z jednej strony – chrześcijanom pozwalają na jej intencjonalne wyznawanie, a z drugiej – pomagają w odnajdywaniu „ziarenek prawdy” u wyznawców innych religii i osób nieidentyfikujących się z żadnym systemem wierzeń. Autor dotyka kwestii relacji między wiarą, rozumianą jako dar, i tą realizowaną w formie uczynków miłości. Jako punkty wsparcia w budowaniu wiary, Autor ukazuje Kościół i znaki czasu. Takie syntetyczne ujęcie pozwala na budowanie podstaw pod szeroko pojętą teologię wiary.
Faith is closely linked with love. Acts of charity are what proves that we are believers and they can also serve as arguments for unconscious faith among the non-religious. If the Creator himself is the source of all such acts, in each act of charity we have to do with human consent and a manifestation of God's power. Through its various functions and dimensions, the Church is a signpost in the process of faith-building. Membership in the Church helps us open ourselves to this grace as it is a room for evaluative reflection on human deeds and thoughts, an environment in which hearts receive God's support in a special way, and aplace which gives us a chance to confront ourselves with other believers, whose testimony motivates us in times of spiritual dryness. Signs of the times are certain events in which man is able to see hints for his life more by asking about the reason for which they occur than about their nature.

The essay formulates four criteria for identifying the topos "signs of the times" and applies them for a specific Christian understanding of the ecological crisis. The aim of the argumentation is to decide why and in what way climate change, ecological degradation but also the new awareness of the value of nature is a theological issue. The second part of the essay deals with the question which competence the churches can contribute to the ecological discourse of a pluralistic, partly secular or atheistic society. I speak also about the encyclical Laudato si’.

The article presents the pastoral aspect of community discernment inspired by the principles of the Society of Jesus. It presents the basic assumptions of this process and describes his dialogical process. Indicates the need to recognize and interpret the signs of the times. Discernment, treated as a pastoral method, helps to sensitize the church community to God’s will and people’s experience, to make an evangelical review of life, and to recognize and realize God’s plan for the community.

The canonization of Pope John XXIII, which took place on the 27th of April 2014, caused many commentators of the Church and theologians to reconsider his life and work. The greatness of this Bishop of Rome shows particularly in his work on the renewal of the Church. Owing to the Good Pope, as he was often referred to, the Church opened itself to the contemporary world and started a dialogue with it, but also met with it and offered a clear answer to the problems of individual people and the whole of mankind. Throughout his short, nearly 5-year-long pontificate (1958-1963) the Bishop of Rome managed to transform the image of the Church and propose concrete projects of the new organization of the society. There are two characteristic and closely related elements of the ecclesial renewal in the papal teachings: the modernization of the Church and reading the signs of the times. Without permanent modernization the Church cannot effectively fulfil its mission of continuing Christ’s work and preaching the Good News of salvation. John XXIII looked optimistically on contemporary processes and perceived God’s intentions revealed through them – the signs of the times which are the characteristic features of an epoch transpiring in the course of history. Discerning the signs of the times is a necessary condition for the Church to understand the ever changing reality of the world to which it is sent. The most important event of John XXIII’s pontificate was the preparation and convention of the Second Vatican Council.

Posłannictwo Kościoła nie polega tylko na przekazywaniu ludziom ewangelicznego orędzia Chrystusa, ale na doskonaleniu duchem ewangelicznym całego porządku spraw doczesnych oraz właściwym odczytywaniu i rozumieniu znaków czasu. To przepajanie duchem Ewangelii wszystkich wydarzeń i dziedzin rzeczywistości stanowi właściwą specyfikę apostolstwa. Do chrześcijan należy świadczenie o tym, jak wiara chrześcijańska daje jedyną pełną odpowiedź na problemy i nadzieje, jakie życie stawia przed każdym człowiekiem i każdym społeczeństwem. Chrześcijanie muszą stawać się dla świata czytelnymi znakami innej rzeczywistości, rzeczywistości Bożego królestwa. W niniejszym artykule podjęto próbę wskazania pedagogiczno-katechetycznych aspektów dostrzegania, właściwego rozumienia i podejmowania przez chrześcijan znaków czasu we współczesnym świecie. Chrześcijanie realizują przez to zadanie consecratio mundi i dzięki temu mogą iść naprzód z nadzieją. Zostało to omówione przez uświadomienie faktu, że chrześcijanin nie ucieka, lecz żyje we współczesnym świecie, dla którego stara się być świadkiem królestwa Bożego oraz ukazuje mu drogę Ewangelii.

The pastoral care of the church needs a paradigm, on which it can build its practice. This paradigm must take signs of the contemporary times into account. The message of mercy was crucial for the pontificates of John XXIII, John Paul II and Benedict XVI. Mercy is also an essential theme of teaching for Pope Francis. The primary sign of the contemporary times is mercy. At times we are called to gaze even more attentively on mercy so that we may become a more effective sign of the Father’s action in our lives (Pope Francis). The main issue of the present article is mercy as  a paradigm of the missionary and pastoral care of the church. Three statements create the issues for this study: pastoral ministry in a missionary key, contemporary times as the times of mercy and principles and areas of the pastoral of the  mercy.

Z punktu widzenia biblijnego i nauczania kościelnego kategoria powołania jawi się jako kluczowa dla zrozumienia i określenia miejsca człowieka w świecie i nadania mu sensu. Wydaje się jednak, że obecnie ta kategoria znajduje się w kryzysie, o czym świadczy znikome odwoływanie się do niej w teologii i w życiu duchowym, a niejednokrotnie zastępuje się ją innymi kategoriami, wśród których na pierwsze miejsce wchodzi modna kategoria profesjonalizmu. Z drugiej jednak strony, człowiek odkrywa dzisiaj głód ducha rozumiany jako poszukiwanie głębszego sensu swojej misji w świecie. Jest on na pewno wzbudzany przez Ducha Świętego oraz same wydarzenia i zjawiska historyczne, które dzisiaj obserwujemy, potwierdzające, że chodzi o głód Ducha Świętego, który ukierunkowuje życie ludzkie na Boga. Odnowione odwołanie się więc do kategorii powołania może przyczynić się do wzbudzenia w człowieku nowego zapału duchowego i czynnego uczestniczenia w dziejach.
From the biblical point of view as well as for what the teachings of the Church state the notion of vocation appears to be a key category for the understanding and determining the place of man in the world and for making him meaningful. However, it seems that, currently this category is confronted with a period of crisis, which is reflected in a scarce number of references made to it in theology and spiritual life. It happens quite often that other categories are substituted for it like for instance “professionalism” which is one of the most fashionable categories of this sort these days. On the other hand, man discovers today a craving for the spirit understood as a search for a more profound meaning of his mission in the world. It is certainly inspired by the Holy Spirit and the very historical events and phenomena which we can observe today and which confirm the fact that it is about the craving for the Holy Spirit who turns people towards God. The renewed reference to the category of vocation may contribute to the stimulation of a new spiritual zeal in man and to an active participation in the course of history.

The article describes the characteristic features of Cyprian Kamil Norwid’s spirituality on the basis of selected Letters from this writer. Norwid is a unique figure of the 19th century for Polish history and culture. The example of his spiritual life can inspire contemporary Christians. The discussed Letters indicate Norwid’s close relationship with God, his trust in Providence in life’s hardships and adversities and the conviction with which he proclaimed Christ and His Gospel. Norwid’s spiritual example helps us to properly read the contemporary „signs of the times”. Especially during the crisis caused, among others, by the coronavirus pandemic and progressive secularization, Norwid’s thoughts are also relevant today.

Opis:
The article takes up the problem of understanding the religious education in the contemporary social and cultural context. It analyses the leading contemporary cultural attitudes, those of activism and autonomy in the perspective of building personal holiness of the believer, confronting them with the attitudes of submission to the will of God in a spirit of humility. The article addresses the issue of human subjectivity and its absolutist interpretation, in which freedom has no limits, which makes it difficult to adopt the Christian ideal of education, based on the active search for the will of God and obedience to it. The article also takes up the question of dogmas as a form of objectification of human religious experience, necessary for the proper development of religiosity and the way to holiness of life. The last issue discussed is a prayer as a tool for spiritual development and the obstacles and their consequences in the proper understanding and use of prayers, caused by mixing orders of spiritual and cultural myths.
Artykuł podejmuje problem rozumienia wychowania religijnego we współczesnym kontekście społeczno-kulturowym. Analizuje wiodące dla współczesnej kultury postawy aktywizmu i autonomii w perspektywie budowania osobistej świętości wierzącego, konfrontując je z postawami poddania się woli Bożej w duchu pokory. Ukazuje, w jaki sposób postawy te, połączone z subiektywizmem poznania, zaburzają rozwój religijny człowieka, stanowiąc przeszkodę w przyjmowaniu łaski Bożej. Artykuł podejmuje kwestię podmiotowości człowieka i jej absolutystyczną interpretację, w której wolność nie ma ograniczeń, co znacznie utrudnia przyjęcie chrześcijańskiego ideału wychowania, opartego na aktywnym poszukiwaniu woli Bożej i posłuszeństwie jej. Artykuł podejmuje też kwestię dogmatów jako formy obiektywizacji religijnego doświadczenia człowieka, koniecznej do prawidłowego rozwoju religijności i drodze ku świętości życia. Ostatnim, omawianym zagadnieniem jest modlitwa jako narzędzie rozwoju religijnego oraz przeszkody i ich skutki we właściwym rozumieniu i wykorzystaniu modlitwy, powstałe na skutek mieszania porządków duchowych i mitów kulturowych.

Trzecia sesja plenarna „Der Synodale Weg” i przyjęte podczas niej trzy dokumenty pozwalają na wstępną diagnozę rozpoczętego w 2019 roku procesu odnowy i reform w Kościele katolickim w Niemczech. Diagnoza ta pozwala zauważyć, że członkowie wspólnoty kościoła są zaniepokojeni coraz większą liczbą apostazji oraz trudnościami z  odzyskaniem zaufania i  wiarygodności spowodowanego nadużyciami autorytetu i władzy w wielu wymiarach życia duchowego i fizycznego (seksualnego). W uchwalonych dokumentach w  wymiarze teologicznym dokonano rewizji precedencji źródeł teologicznych, kładąc większy akcent na „znaki czasu” jako locus theologicus oraz uwypuklając większe znaczenie konferencji episkopatu danego kraju do rozstrzygnięć w obrębie autentycznego nauczania w Kościele powszechnym. Gremium „Der Synodaler Weg” oraz mające się ukonstytuować Rady synodalne na poziomie diecezji także powinny mieć nie tylko charakter doradczy, ale i rozstrzygający. Podobne reformy Kościoła katolickiego spotykają się z ruchami kontestującymi takie rozstrzygnięcia, wskazującymi na to, że uczestnicy tego gremium nie mają mandatu, aby zobowiązywać wierzących w Niemczech do ich przestrzegania. Stolica Apostolska wydała Deklarację, wskazując, że decyzje podejmowane przez „Der Synodale Weg” nie mają mocy wiążącej ani w przypadku propozycji nowych form kierowania Kościołem, ani w kwestiach wiary i moralności.
The Third Plenary Session of “Der Synodale Weg” and the three documents adopted during it allow for a preliminary diagnosis of the renewal and reform process in the Catholic Church in Germany started in 2019. This diagnosis shows that members of the Church community are concerned about the increasing number of apostasies and difficulties in regaining trust and credibility caused by the abuse of authority and power in many dimensions of spiritual and physical (sexual) life. Adopted documents in the theological dimension revise the precedence of theological sources, placing greater emphasis on the “signs of the times” as a locus theologicus and emphasising the greater importance of the Episcopal conference of a given country for decisions within authentic teaching in the Universal Church. Also the assembly of “Der Synodaler Weg” and the synodal councils to be constituted at the diocesan level should be not only advisory but also decisive. Such reforms of the Catholic Church meet with movements contesting such decisions, indicating that the participants of this assembly do not have the mandate to oblige believers in Germany to obey them. The Holy See issued a Declaration, pointing out that the decisions made by the assembly of “Der Synodale Weg” are not binding, neither in the case of proposed new forms of Church governance, nor in matters of faith and morals.

W artykule wskazane zostały pewne wątpliwości teologiczne, jakie nasuwają się podczas lektury książki ks. Dominika Chmielewskiego zatytułowanej Kecharitomene. Omawiana książka cieszy się zainteresowaniem wielu katolików w Polsce. Literatura religijna zajmuje ważne miejsce w formacji religijnej osób wierzących. Dobrze się dzieje, jeśli katoliccy autorzy dążą do wyjaśniania nauki Kościoła. Tymczasem treść prezentowanej publikacji nie jest wolna od pewnych kłopotliwych zwrotów i twierdzeń, które mogą ukierunkować czytelnika na meandry teologii.
The article points out some theological doubts that arise when reading the book of Fr. Dominic Chmielewski entitled Kecharitomene. Many Catholics in Poland became interested in this book. Religious literature takes an important place in the religious formation of believers. It is good, then, if Catholic authors tend to explain the teaching of the Church. Meanwhile, the content of the presented publication is not free from certain embarrassing phrases and statements that may direct the reader to the meanders of theology.
