Opis:
The probability that a system is capable to operate satisfactorily significantly depends on reliability and maintainability of a system. The disadvantage of classic methods of system availability determining is that the probability of realizing by system tasks with expected quality depends on history of operational states and does not take into consideration actual operational conditions that have strong influence on risk-degree of down-time occurring, while the probability of degradation failure in exploitation system is a function of operating time and actual exploitation conditions. The problem of failures prediction can be solved by applying in diagnostics methods the intelligent computational algorithms. The intelligence computational methods enable to create the diagnosis tools that allow to formulate the prognosis of operating time of a system and predict of failure occurring based on the past and actual information about system's operational state. The paper presents the fuzzy logic approach to forecast the prognoses of the operating time of the exploitation system or its equipments according to the specified exploitation conditions that characterize the system exploitation state at the current time. The fuzzy system was based on the Takagi-Sugeno-Kang type fuzzy implications with singletons specifies in conclusions of rules. The fuzzy inference system input variables are the assumed parameters according to which the current exploitation state of the considered system can be evaluated.

The problem considered in this article involves the construction of evaluation model, which could subsequently be used in the field of modeling and risk management. The research work is finalized by a construction of a new model on the basis of observations of the models used for risk management and knowledge of information theory, machine learning and artificial neural networks. The developed tools are trained online, using their ability for automatic deduction rules based on data, during model application for evaluation tasks. The model, consequently changes the data analysis stage, limits the scope of the necessary expertise in the area, where the assessment model can be used and, to some extent, the shape of the model becomes independent from the current range of available data. These features increase its ability to generalize and to cope with the data of previously undefined classes, as well as improve its resistance to gaps occurring in the data. Performance of the model presented in this paper is tested and verified on the basis of real-life data, which would resemble a potentially real practical application. Preliminary tests performed within the scope of this work indicate that the developed model can form a starting point for further research as some of the used mechanisms have a fairly high efficiency and flexibility.

The article presents the possibility of using self-learning control algorithms to manage subassemblies of an internal combustion engine in order to reduce exhaust emissions to the natural environment. In compression ignition (CI) engines, the issue of emissions mainly concerns two components: particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). The work focuses mainly on the possibility of reducing the emission of nitrogen oxides. It is assumed that the particularly problematic points when it comes to excessive emission of harmful substances are the dynamic states in which combustion engines operate constantly. In dynamically changing operating points, it is very difficult to choose the right setting of actuators such as the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve to ensure the correct operation of the unit and the minimum emission of these substances. In the light of the above, an attempt was made to develop a selflearning mathematical model, which can predict estimated emission levels of selected substance basing on current measurement signals (e.g. air, pressure, crankshaft rotational speed, etc.). The article presents the results of the estimation of nitrogen oxides by the trained neural network in comparison to the values measured with the use of a sensor installed in the exhaust system. The presented levels of estimated and measured results are very similar to each other and shifted over time in favour of neural networks, where the information about the emission level appears much earlier. On the basis of the estimated level, it shall be possible to make an appropriate decision about specific settings of recirculation system components, such as the EGR valve. It is estimated that by using the chosen control method it is possible significantly to reduce the emission of harmful substances into the natural environment while maintaining dynamic properties of the engine.

The study describes growing interest of self-directed learning (SDL) on the field of adult education. Looking at its origin the idea is complex and rich. There are many parallel ideas and theories within the phenomenon self-directed learning. As many related components are used in a similar way the idea of is fraught with confusion. In English language there is a strong need and some wide research had been undertaken to clarify the meanings of related concepts as well as the meaning of the idea of SDL. In order to avoid misunderstandings in implementation self-directed learning in Polish theory we have to clarify the independent concept that will describe the exact meaning meant by authors rather than to use already existing expressions which have their original meaning much different from the idea of self-directed learning. In the study the new expression in Polish language has been defined and explained.

The article presents research on students’ independent self-learning. The applied method was an analysis of intentionally prepared documents. While conducting the research, an attempt was made to recognise: the manner of the understanding the notion of “learning” by the students; the manner of learning which they apply as well as evaluation of their own effectiveness in this scope. The participants in the research identify learning mainly as mnemonic acquisition of new knowledge in the situations related to the process of studying. In the majority of cases, they work unsystematically, applying ineffective techniques of learning and express negative judgements on their own learning effectiveness.
