The paper deals with the identification of proverbs in a literary text, which is believed to be the initial stage in the analysis of paremias in literary context and part and parcel of any paremiostylitic analysis. Proverbs manifest themselves in what the author calls a paremic locus. Paremias are present in a text on the formal level, where a particular proverb is signalled by its structure, either canonical or modified. Proverbs can be identified as well on the semantic plane, although in this case their presence is impossible to ascertain in objective terms. The author analyses the ten novels by Salman Rushdie, which all provide ample evidence of paremic loci.

After a little theoretical and philosophical introduction to what tolerance means for our contemporary society, we are trying to analyse two ways of the tolerance of the contemporary novelist, Salman Rushdie, in his novel "The Shame". The first of them concerns the discursive tolerance, as a narrative organisation or structure, and the second is about the internal tolerance of the epic ideas. Drawing the conclusions, we can assert the following: for both ways of our examination: the faint and the marginal fight to occupy a central positon belonging to the strong. However, this never wins or if he wins, it is only temporarily. So, even the tolerance has to exist, in fact, it does not exist.

In the present study a commercially synthetic hydroxyapatite powders (CSHAp) were doped with lanthanum oxide (5 and 10 wt.% La₂O₃). The composite powders were well homogenized and pelleted in an uniaxial mould at 350 MPa. Pelleted green bodies were sintered at five different temperatures. Finally, the effect of La₂O₃ amount on the microstructural and mechanical properties of CSHA was investigated. Microstructural properties were detected by X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Mechanical properties of the sintered samples were determined by the density, hardness and compression strength measurements. Experimental results show that the mechanical properties of HA can be improved by the doping of La₂O₃

Writing is a complex skill that is hard to teach. Although the written product is what is often evaluated in the context of language teaching, the process of giving thought to linguistic form is fascinating. For almost forty years, language teachers have found it more effective to help learners in the writing process than in the written product; it is there that they could find sources of writing problems. Despite all controversy evoked by post-process approaches with respect to process writing, information technology has lately offered tools that can shed new light on how writing takes place. Software that can record keyboard, mouse, and screen activities is capable of unraveling mysteries of the writing process. Technology has given teachers and learners the option of examining the writing process as it unfolds, enabling them to diagnose strategy as well as wording problems, thus empowering teachers to guide learners individually in how to think about each of their trouble spots in the context of a specific product of writing. With these advances in information technology, metacognitive awareness and strategy training begin to acquire new dimensions of meaning. Technology lays open aspects of the writing process, offering unprecedented insight into creative text production as well. This paper attempts to explain how tracking software can influence writing instruction. It briefly examines the process and post-process approaches to assess their viability, explains the concept of tracking software, proposes methodology needed for the adoption of this technology, and then discusses the pedagogical implications of these issues.

The application of used glazed waste in concrete production can improve the performance of the structure of the building. Flexural and shear behavior and action of reinforced Hollow Glass Concrete Beams (HGCB) and Solid Glass Concrete Beams (SGCB) made with glass waste under a two-point load are studied in this paper. In this work, 6 reinforced concrete solid and hollow beams were tested under a four-point bending test to evaluate and calculate the flexural behavior of SGCB and HGCB. For that purpose, Beams were prepared with 1000 mm length, 230 mm height, and 120 mm. All beams were divided into groups and named according to the space stirrups steel bar. The experimental work investigates five main variables which are: first: the comparison between SGCB and HGCB with the concrete beams made with glass waste (Glass Concrete Beam GCB), second: comparison between Solid Concrete Beams for Normal Concrete Beams (NCB), and GCB, three: comparison between Hollow Concrete Beams for NCB and GCB, four: the comparison between HGCB and HCB, last: the comparison between SGCB and SCB. The test results indicated that GCB was offered higher strength than NCB, but the load-slip behavior of all specimens is similar for both types of concretes, and the bond strength is not influenced by steel specimens. Furthermore, the results of this study indicated that the contribution of GCB to the load is indicated to be considerable. The results indicate that the hollow opening affected the ultimate load capacity and deflection of HGCB.

Environmental problems are considered a serious situation in modern construction. Reusing and recycling glass wastes is the only method to decrease waste produced. There is growing environmental compression to decrease glass waste and to reprocess as much as possible. In this investigational work, the effect of partially substituting crushed waste glass in concrete is considered. The study investigates crushed waste glass used as a partial replacement of fine aggregate for new concrete. Recycled glass waste was partially replaced as 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30, 35, 40%, 45%, 45% and 50% and tested at 7, 14 and 28 days of curing at 20 for mechanical properties and compared with those of controlled mix. The compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and flexural forces and static elasticity modulus of specimens with 20% waste glass content was 30%, 19.41%, 9.13% and 10.12%, respectively, which is higher than the controlled mix at 28 days. The outcomes displayed that the maximum rise in strength of concrete occurred when 20% replacement with glass crush. It is found that crushed waste glass can be used as fine aggregate replacement material in concrete production.

This paper investigates the effect of text-messaging on Arab EFL learners’ English academic writing. It also investigates teachers’ attitudes and reactions to the presence of e-texting features in their students’ writing. Qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis were employed on data obtained from the following sources: (1) a sample of freshman students’ writing, (2) a survey investigating students’ use of e-chatting in Arabic and English, and (3) a questionnaire eliciting teachers’ reactions to students’ use of texting features in academic writing. The data were collected from a student sample of the Arab Open University (AOU). The research findings show that Arab EFL students’ writing does not reveal a heavy use of texting features, which suggests that this phenomenon neither poses a serious threat nor adversely impacts students’ written English.

The isotope of bromine, ⁷⁵Br ($T_{1/2}$ = 1.6 h), has a considerable interest in nuclear medicine. The radionuclide ⁷⁵Br is a positron emitter and is useful in positron emission tomography (PET) for fast metabolic processes. In this study the reaction cross sections were calculated for suggested various production mechanisms. The cross sections of charged particle-induced reactions, leading to ⁷⁵Br, were calculated for ⁷⁶Se(p,2n)⁷⁵Br, ⁷⁶Se(d,3n)⁷⁵Br, ⁷⁵As(³He,3n)⁷⁵Br and ⁷⁵As(⁴He,4n)⁷⁵Br using TALYS 1.6. The calculated results are compared with measurement data available in literature. The calculated results indicate that, ⁷⁶Se(p,2n)⁷⁵Br and ⁷⁶Se(d,3n)⁷⁵Br reaction channels have higher cross section values than that of ⁷⁵As(³He,3n)⁷⁵Br reaction channel. Moreover all these reaction channels are in the range of a medium-sized cyclotron.
