Opis:
We consider a nonlinear three-dimensional viscoelastic fiber jet that is generated during a forcespinning process. We provide a particular case for such a rotating jet at a high rotation rate. We use a viscoelastic constitutive model for the jet equations and then applying a new slender body approach, we continue with proper scaling and perturbation technique to develop a new model for such a jet system. We find that the profiles for jet quantities versus arc length are notably different from all those in related studies reported before for either high or low rotation rates. In particular, jet radius first rapidly decreases as the arc length decreases and then reaches its macro- or nano-scale size not far away from its exit section. The present model can predict a nano-fiber jet that is entirely based on proper scaling, perturbation technique and full fluid mechanics laws and equations.

Opis:
An observation of a solar eclipse that occurred on October 13, 443 BC during the reign of the Duke Ligong of Qin was recorded in the Twenty-Four Histories (China’s dynastic histories from remote antiquity till the Ming Dynasty). With modern astronomical planetary ephemeris, the observation records were studied. The results showed that the eclipse probably occurred around sunset in Yongcheng, the capital of Qin, where the sunset time was exactly between the first contact stage (partial eclipse begins) and the fourth contact stage (partial eclipse ends) of the eclipse. Furthermore, secular change of the earth’s rotation rate at that time is investigated in this work.

Opis:
Preliminary results of laboratory and field tests of fibre optic rotational seismographs designed for rotational seismology are presented. In order to meet new directions of the research in this field, there is clearly a great need for suitable and extremely sensitive wideband sensors. The presented rotational seismographs based on the fibre optic gyroscopes show significant advantages over other sensor technologies when used in the seismological applications. Although the presented results are prepared for systems designed to record strong events expected by the so-called “engineering seismology”, the described system modification shows that it is possible to construct a device suitable for weak events monitoring expected by basic seismological research. The presented sensors are characterized, first and foremost, by a wide measuring range. They detect signals with amplitudes ranging from several dozen nrad/s up to even few rad/s and frequencies from 0.01 Hz to 100 Hz. The performed Allan variance analysis indicates the sensors main parameters: angle random walk in the range of 3 ∙ 10−8–2 ∙ 10−7 rad/s and bias instability in the range of 2 ∙ 10−9–2 ∙ 10−8 rad/s depending on the device. The results concerning the registration of rotational seismic events by the systems located in Książ Castle, Poland, as well as in the coalmine “Ignacy” in Rybnik, Poland were also presented and analysed.

Opis:
The article presents selected results of the analytical work carried out in the Air Force Institute of Technology and the Polish Air Force Academy by means of a computer simulation of noncommutativity phenomena submitting aircraft turnover on high-manoeuvrability flights. The results of these simulations allowed to define the guidelines for the method of “production” of noncommutativity phenomenon in specialized rotating positions for strapdown inertial navigation systems (to evaluate the errors of determining spatial orientation). Also, it analysed the possibility of “production” noncommutativity rotational movement in mobile flight simulator used for testing pilots and candidates for pilots (to test the sensitivity of the pilot’s vestibular system in terms of feeling the impact of this phenomenon). The results of the assessment of “greatness” noncommutativity angular velocity vector, occurring in some parts of the high-manoeuvrability flight of aircraft on the example of a fighter-bomber airplane Su-22 were discussed as well.
