    The topic of reflection included in the paper is Czapski’s essays and diaries, mostly concerning art matters. The contents of the article is defined by a formula of reflectiveness, seen as the most appropriate to the character of thoughts on art of the author of Patrząc (Looking). Reflectiveness presumes inclination to theorisation, “casting glimpses at oneself”, conceptual follow of the experience, and it is related with revealing everything that may include human and artistic conscience as a cognitive task. The phenomena of aesthetic reflectiveness, bound to Czapski’s both painting and writing, I refer mainly to creatively comprehended mimetic activity, to experience connected with senses and connected with the questions of permanence and origins of an artistic process as well as following phenomena: sensitivity to sensual nature of existence, questions of seeing and a painter’s aesthetic choices, e.g. directing towards Post-Impressionist aesthetics. Besides, reflectiveness of Czapski’s artistic experience is foremost reflectiveness of an artist and his responsible turning to intellectual effort of a thorough explanation of his own creative experience. Art in view of Czapski’s reflectiveness becomes a conscious aesthetic attitude, fundament for a conscious life; it makes a base, allows to see and know who we are, and it also builds up a bridge to moral space from where we know what is to be done.

    Przedmiotem rozważań w prezentowanych badaniach była refleksyjność studentów pedagogiki na różnych poziomach edukacji akademickiej. Badania miały charakter studiów porównawczych.Pomiar myślenia refleksyjnego studentów został dokonany za pomocą zaadaptowanego do warunków polskich Kwestionariusza do Mierzenia Poziomów Myślenia Refleksyjnego (Questionnaire to Measure the Level of Reflective Thinking) autorstwa Kember i in. (2000). W narzędziu tym jest mowa o czterech poziomach funkcjonowania poznawczego w ramach refleksyjności, mianowicie o: „działaniach rutynowych”, „rozumieniu”, „refleksji” i „krytycznej refleksji”. Wyniki badań potwierdziły założenie, że trzy grupy studentów z różnych poziomów studiów różnią się w zakresie refleksyjnego myślenia.
    What was the subject of considerations in this study was the reflectiveness of pedagogy students at different levels of academic education. The research had a comparative nature.The measurement of students’ reflective thinking was made by the Polish adaptation of Questionnaire to Measure the Level of Reflective Thinking by Kember et al. (2000). The reflective thinking may be categorised into four distinct stages: “habitual action”, “understanding”, “reflection” and “critical reflection”. The results confirmed the assumption that three groups of students at a different level of studies differ in their reflective thinking.

    Cognition is the basic human activity. Human cognition differs from analogical activities in nature. Reflectiveness is inherent in human cognition and it produces meaning in the human consciousness, which allows individuals to discover correlations that exist in the world and allows them to experience themselves as active agents. Nature is at the same time the subject and the object of human cognition. It initiates and shapes human reflectiveness. By getting to know reality and discussing it in interpersonal dialogue, the individual opens up to the truth and obtains knowledge about the world. Truth is nothing but the adjustment of human cognition to objective external reality. Science is born in this dialogue of the individual with reality and with other individuals. Science as universal knowledge about the world shapes human reflectiveness by introducing it into a broader circle of truth. Scientific cognition makes individual s more responsible for their existence in the world. The truths which we know thanks to science mobilize people to update the good contained in matter - to the responsible engineering. Cognitive relativism is a modern day dilemma. Contemporary people don’t read reality, but create it. Their cognition has become pseudoscientific — detached from the truth of being, it has resulted in the catastrophic effects of engineering. Contemporary people have subordinated their reflectiveness and will to pragmatic truth and in this way make their activities in the world irresponsible.

    W artykule przedstawiono wybrane fragmenty wyników badań jakościowych na temat sytuacji psychologiczno-społecznej, w jakiej znaleźli się ludzie w czasie pandemii COVID-19 w opinii studentów pedagogiki. Próba ograniczenia transmisji wirusa poprzez wprowadzenie lockdownu zamknęła w domach miliony ludzi, ograniczyła ich wolność i kontakty międzyludzkie. Czas ten dla wielu osób stał się impulsem do pogłębionej refleksji egzystencjalnej. Badacze, zainteresowani zagadnieniem refleksyjności studentów, poprosili ich grupę o przygotowanie krótkich esejów gromadzących refleksje z czasu pierwszej fazy pandemii. Badaniem objęto 36 studentów z Akademii Pedagogiki Specjalnej, w dwóch grupach wiekowych – zaczynających studia i zbliżających się do ich końca. Zgromadzone teksty poddano analizie zgodnej z metodologią teorii ugruntowanej w badaniu. Analiza dyskursu, prowadzona w perspektywie interpretatywnej, pozwoliła na wyłonienie w wypowiedziach studentów 4 kluczowych kategorii, a następnie na wskazanie różnic pomiędzy grupami w podejściu do poruszanych kwestii. Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań obejmujące dwie kategorie: refleksję badanych na temat własnej podmiotowości oraz przemyślenia dotyczące ich tożsamości ekologicznej. Młodsi badani wykazywali większą koncentrację na perspektywie osobistej, a ich wypowiedzi cechowała większa emocjonalność i optymizm. Starsi, bardziej zdystansowani wobec rzeczywistości, poddawali ją częściej gorzkiej refleksji ukierunkowanej na kwestie polityki społecznej, konsumpcjonizmu i egoizmu współczesnych społeczeństw, częściej traktując kwestię pandemii nie jako cel sam w sobie, ale jako punkt wyjścia dla szerszej krytyki społecznej i ekologicznej.
    The article presents selected extracts of qualitative research results on the psychological and social situation experienced by people during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic in the opinion of pedagogy students. An attempt to prevent the virus from spreading by introducing lockdown confined millions of people in their homes, limited their freedom and interpersonal contacts. For many, this time was an impulse for a more profound existential reflection. The researchers, interested in the issue of students’ reflectiveness, asked a group of them to prepare short essays collecting reflections dating back to the first wave of the pandemic. The research involved 36 students of the Academy of Special Education, in two age groups – those beginning their studies and those heading towards the end. The gathered texts were subject to an analysis complying with the methodology of the grounded theory. The discourse analysis performed from the interpretative perspective allowed for selecting 4 key categories in the students’ comments, and then for pointing to differences between the groups as far as the issues discussed were concerned. This article presents the results of the research encompassing two categories: reflections of the subjects on their own subjectivity and reflections concerning their ecological identity. The younger subjects demonstrated a bigger concentration on the personal perspective and their comments were more emotional and optimistic. The older ones, more distanced towards reality, more often reflected bitterly on social policy, consumerism and egotism of modern societies, more frequently treating the pandemic not as a goal on its own but as a starting point for broader social and ecological criticism.

    A narrative play is a strategy which was used while creating educational situations for children aged 6 to 9, in the Narrative Environments for Play and Learning research project. The process of build-ing the strategy and implementing it in practice was monitored in order to answer the question of the strategy’s meaning for creating a teaching environment. The observation of children and teachers, the interviews with teachers and the analysis of the collected empirical material in the form of audio and video recordings lead to a conclusion that a narrative play supports developing self-regulation in students (see: Arends 1994: 488–499; Filipiak 2012: 70–79). Some specific properties and the role of a teacher who is a facilitator genuinely engaged in its construction are characteristic qualities of a narrative play. It supports developing reflectiveness and reflection regarding such aspects as: educational problems, motives of one’s behavior, one’s own beliefs.

    Research objectives (aims) and problem(s): The article presents the results of research on the development of students’ reflective thinking. The purpose of the research was to determine the level of students’ reflexivity when they began participating in a tutoring project, and then to verify it after the project ended. Research methods: The first phase of research was conducted in October 2020. Two groups of students took part in the research: those undergoing tutoring (n = 70) and those not undergoing tutoring (n = 77). The tool used was the Polish adaptation of the Reflective Thinking Questionnaire. The four scales of the questionnaire are habitual action, understanding, reflection and critical reflection. The research – in the same groups – was repeated in 2023. Structure of the article: The article has a classic layout. First, the concepts of tutoring and reflectivity in education are presented. Then the research method and results are presented. Research findings and their impact on the development of educational sciences: The importance of the tutoring method for the development of reflexivity was recognised by analysing the results of both the tutored and non-tutored groups. The tutored group developed in terms of reflexivity and critical reflection, but also in habitual action. Students who did not participate in tutoring did not make such progress. The research also established relationships between other educational and sociocultural variables and students’ levels of reflexivity. Academic performance, knowledge of foreign languages and parents’ education were taken into account. Conclusions and/or recommendations: The research made it possible to better identify the attributes of the most talented students, and to further identify possible opportunities for their development. An additional added value of this study is that the participants will be better able to understand themselves in terms of development. Those from the tutoring group were especially interested in their individual results.

    This article presents my own research results. The research consists of the third-graders’ opinions about the textbook role and usefulness in the teaching process and the analysis of children’s experiences connected to the educational packets in the school practice. The qualitative data had been gathered trough focus interviews and enriched with the analysis of students’ works. As the research shows, the children’s negative perception of everyday school life seems to origin in the teachers’ admiration to go through the textbooks page by page and students’ subjection to the textbooks packets. Everyday work with the textbook forces children to make often anti-developmental tasks and to resign from divergent and creative thinking in favor of acting according to the designated algorithm. The modern school with the textbook on the pedestal is changing into a space with growing restrictions. The creation of independent subjects is giving place to the formation of other-directed individuals, lacking of the ability to think reflective, which is an important change catalyst.

    Celem badania było poznanie profilu społeczno-demograficznego oraz dominującego typu refleksyjności aktywnych nauczycieli działających w programie Centrum Nauki Kopernik (CNK), Klub Młodego Odkrywcy (KMO). Zastosowano sondaż diagnostyczny zrealizowany przy pomocy ankiety internetowej (CAWI) przygotowanej w narzędziu internetowym Google Forms. Jednym z elementów ankiety był kwestionariusz komunikacji wewnętrznej opracowany przez Margaret Archer: ICONI.Wbadaniu wzięło udział 88 nauczycieli prowadzących KMO w Polsce. Badanie wykazało, że opiekunowie klubów to typowi nauczyciele pod względem płci i wieku oraz wykształcenia. Przeważają kobiety w kohorcie wiekowej 41-50 lat z wykształceniem wyższym. Na kluczowe pytanie badawcze: Jaki typ refleksyjności charakteryzuje aktywnych nauczycieli w Polsce, na przykładzie edukatorów zaangażowanych w program klub Młodego Odkrywcy (KMO) uzyskano odpowiedź: autonomiczny.
    The study aimed to investigate the socio-demographic profile and the reflectiveness type of involved teachers involved in the Young Explorer Club program (KMO) of the Copernicus Science Centre (CNK). A diagnostic survey was conducted using an online questionnaire (CAWI) administered via Google Forms. An integral part of the survey was an internal communication questionnaire developed by Margaret Archer: ICONI. 88 teachers running a KMO in Poland took part in the survey. The results of the survey showed that Clubs are led by typical teachers in terms of gender, age and education. Most of them are women aged 41-50 holding a higher education degree. The answer to the key research question: What involved as exemplified by the educators involved in the Young Explorers Clubs (KMO), was: autonomous.

    Narcissism understood as a trait may be recognised either as a disorder or a symptom of health. Approached through this prism, the culture of narcissism doesn’t only carry risks but also opportunities for the evolving construction of the self. In the article they are discussed on the example of the vocational self-concept and contemporary cultural practices used in the work on the professional self. The latter may include: image building – an example of a threat, reinforcement of the negative form of narcissism; and personal branding – an example of the potential, a pretext to strengthen the healthy form of narcissism. However, the development of the vocational self-concept discussed in the article indicates yet another possible direction of research: people’s increased awareness in constructing their professional self. It is a result of self-conceptualising, a process which distinguishes two components within the self: ‘I’ and ‘me’. Can narcissistic attitudes produce similar results? The proposed analogy, examples and claims about reflectiveness raise questions about the current state of the culture of narcissism and its criticism.
