Opis:
The time evolution of the probability and current densities stemming from an initial tate of a particle in the form of a wave packet on the left hand side of a square barrier is studied. In particular, the space distribution at a given time of the above densities is given. Furthermore, the evolution in time at the entrance and exit of the barrier is given. The numerical results show repeated reversal in the current density at the barrier entrance, while being unidirectional at the exit. However, the probability entering the barrier over a long time equals the corresponding probability exiting the barrier. Owing to the fact that the wave packet expands on both of its sides, as time goes by, it is possible to have transmission even if the particle’s initial momentum points away from the barrier. The effect, in question, becomes evident in a diagram for the transmission coefficient in terms of the particle initial momentum, over a relatively small region.

To reflect the safety degree of marine traffic in real-time and intuitively, this paper put forward a concept of real-time safety index of marine traffic, established marine traffic real-time safety index system, and constructed a real-time safety index evaluation model by using vessel traffic and navigation environmental data provided by shore-based AIS base station network, and quantifying a variety of data which impacts the safety of marine traffic such as ships’ real-time dynamic data, weather changes and so on. A continuous real-time evaluation to a specific area was carried out in the form of real-time index curve, taking the Waigaoqiao Channel of Port Shanghai as an example, to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of marine traffic real-time safety index.

Opis:
One of the key elements of the real-time C 1 -continuous cubic spline interpolation of streaming data is an estimator of the first derivative of the interpolated function that is more accurate than those based on finite difference schemas. Two such greedy look-ahead heuristic estimators, based on the calculus of variations (denoted as MinBE and MinAJ2), are formally defined (in closed form), along with the corresponding cubic splines that they generate. They are then comparatively evaluated in a series of numerical experiments involving different types of performance measures. The presented results show that the cubic Hermite splines generated by heuristic MinAJ2 significantly outperformed those that were based on finite difference schemas in terms of all of the tested performance measures (including convergence). The proposed approach is quite general. It can be directly applied to streams of univariate functional data like time-series. Multi-dimensional curves that are defined parametrically (after splitting) can be handled as well. The streaming character of the algorithm means that it can also be useful in processing data sets that are too large to fit in the memory (e.g., edge computing devices, embedded time-series databases).

Opis:
This study suggests a new algorithm based on a combination of fuzzy logic and genetic algorithm (GA) to improve voltage profile in a microgrid. The considered microgrid includes control variables such as onload tap changer (OLTC), active power output from distributed generators (DG) and reactive power output from feeder switched capacitors that are controlled in a microgrid controller (MGC) by communication links. The proposed method was used to obtain the optimum value of control variables to establish voltage stabilization in varying load condition as online. For establishing voltage stabilization at the microgrid, an objective function is defined and is tried to minimize it by control variables. The control variables were changed based on fuzzy logic and the GA was employed for finding the optimum shape of membership functions. In order to verify the proposed method, a 34 buses microgrid in varying load condition was analyzed and was compared with previous works.

Providing the users in Poland with the ASG-EUPOS system in the mid-2008 has significantly influenced the popularization of satellite survey techniques, especially realtime surveys. Real-time satellite levelling has become a very effective way of determining normal heights of points. The paper discusses the problem of satellite levelling carried out for linear structures using, the most popular among the users, Real Time Network surveys referring to the ASG-EUPOS system, as well as RTK GPS surveys carried out in relation to a physical reference station. The conclusions regarding the possibility of applying satellite levelling in real time on railway areas were based on the surveys of several sections of a railway line, for which geodetic precise leveling was also conducted.

Obtaining a lateral S-parameter image scan from positrons implanted into semiconductor devices can be a helpful research tool both for localizing device structures and in diagnozing defect patterns that could help interpret function. S-parameter images can be obtained by electromagnetically rastering a variable energy positron beam of small spot size across the sample. Here we describe a general hardware and software architecture of relatively low cost that has recently been developed in our laboratory which allows the whole sub-surface S-parameter image of a sample or device to be obtained in real time. This system has the advantage over more conventional sequential scanning techniques of allowing the operator to terminate data collection once the quality of the image is deemed sufficient. As an example of the usefulness of this type of imaging architecture, S-parameter images of a representative sample are presented at two different positron implantation energies.

According to the microgenetic stance, each following instant of perception gradually grows out from the each preceding one and is essentially a continual part of it. It is difficult to exclusively differentiate past, present and future in perception, because in the currently experienced mental reality past, present and future overlap, with no very clear borders in between. However, in the practical domain these theoretical underpinnings remain useless unless we support them by specific experimental data about the more or less precise values of measurements characterizing the real-time constraints and ranges within which the microgenetic perception unfolds. Here, the general theoretical picture of perceptual microgenesis will be supplemented with some simple data on the quantitative aspects of actual microgenesis. I will review some experimental measurements of perceptual microgenesis such as the real-time values of microgenesis, typical orders with which different characteristics of the same object/event unfold, arbitrariness with which the objective order is transformed to a subjective order, the phenomenon of proactive facilitation. Microgenetic stance will be discussed also in light of the issue of neural correlates of consciousness.

A scheme for real-time optical demultiplexing is proposed by utilizing the time-broadened and linearly chirped pulses instead of the conventional mode-locked pulses. The copies of the optical-time-division-multiplexed signal are acquired through a dual-pump parametric gate and used as the parametric multicast block. Simulation results show that the demultiplexing from 160 Gb/s down to sixteen 10 Gb/s tributaries can be achieved only by using a sampling source of 10 GHz. The proposed scheme can effectively reduce the complexity of parallel processing, and find important applications in the high-speed all-optical signal processing.

The method of designing complex potential with respect to stationary elliptical obstacle and stationary goal is formally shown. Next, the planning motion problem is extended assuming that the goal is moving. Then results of motion planning is used in order to design closed-loop control algorithms which is based on decoupling technique. Theoretical considerations are supported by numerical simulations illustrating example results of motion planning and control.

Currently there is growing interest in unmanned shipping. In the case of unmanned ‘autonomous’ shipping, navigation is automated by on-board decision-making systems. Important motives for unmanned ships include the shortage of skilled mariners, the facilitation of slow steaming strategies, efficiency improvements in confined shipping areas, and increased safety. The aim of the present research is to simulate an unmanned ship through an Automatic Identification System (AIS) based traffic situation. In order to do this, the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN) will use the existing simulation technology Dolphin, implement a new tool to read AIS data, simulate a large amount of ships, and develop an auto-captain. The real-time dynamic risk index developed by MARIN will be integrated in Dolphin, to monitor nautical safety of all ships with focus on the unmanned ship. The simulated unmanned ship will navigate according to the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS). In more complex situations, the auto-captain may use a dedicated decision support tool to find a more efficient solution to pass safely. This approach will be analysed using the real-time dynamic risk index, which will be updated based on latest insights. This paper will discuss the latest development and plans in the unmanned ship simulation project.

The paper addresses the problem of real-time emission control in a given set of air pollution sources. The approach applied utilizes the optimal control technique for distributed parameter systems. A set of pointwise emission sources with a predefined location and emission characteristics is considered as the controlled object. The problem is formulated as on-line minimization of an environmental cost function, by the respective modification of emission level in the controlled sources, according to the changing meteorological conditions (e.g. wind direction and velocity). Dispersion of atmospheric pollution is governed by a multi-layer, dynamic model of SOχ transport, which is the main forecasting tool used in the optimization algorithm. The objective function includes the environmental damage related to air quality as well as the cost of the controlling action. The environmental cost index depends on the current level of SOχ concentration and on the sensitivity of the area to this type of air pollution. The adjoint variable; related to the main transport equation of the forecasting model, is applied to calculate the gradient of the objective function in the main optimization procedure. The test computations have been performed for a set of major power plants in the industrial region of Upper Silesia (Poland).

The paper presents an overview of methods for detecting the spoofing of GNSS open service code signals illustrated with the example of C/A GPS signals. GNSS signal spoofing is an attack method where a signal is transmitted that appears authentic but it induces the receiver under attack to compute an erroneous navigation solution, time, or both. Usage of commercially available satellite compasses and two antennas systems for the detection of such threat is described in detail.

Opis:
This paper presents a hardware architecture of the video quality assessment module. Two different metrics were implemented on FPGA using modern High Level Language for digital system design – Impulse C. FPGA resources consumption of the presented module is low, which enables module-level parallelization. Tests conducted for four modules working concurrently show that 1.96 GB/s throughput can be achieved. The module is capable of processing 8K video stream in a real-time manner i.e. 30 frames/second. Such high performance of the presented solution was achieved due to the series of architectural optimization introduced to the module, such as reduction of data precision and reuse of various module components.

Opis:
In this work, a mid infrared thermography was used to study thermal behavior of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) with a circular shape and a diameter of 90 mm. The emissivity of the anodic surface of the fuel cell was determined to be from 0.95 to 0.46 in the temperature range 550-1200 K and the profile and temperature distribution of the anodic surface of the unloaded cell was given. The surface temperature of the cell was determined during operation and the polarity changes from open circuit voltage (OCV) to 0.0 V. It was found that the cell self-heating effect decreases with increasing temperature of the cell.
