The article aims to diagnose how Polish political science is internationally recognized, and how this recognition has changed during the last period of research evaluation (2017–2021). For this purpose, several quantitative indicators from the 2013–2016 and 2017–2021 evaluations were analyzed: the number of publications, place of publication, the impact of both the journal and the article. The hypotheses assume that in 2017–2021, the numerical output of Polish political science works indexed in international databases increased significantly. Still, when it comes to the impact of the Polish academy on global political science, it remains weak. The data provided in the SciVal program was used for the analysis. Articles were selected from the Scopus database, specifically from the “Politics & International Studies” collection. The results of the conducted research confirm the assumptions formulated in the hypotheses.
Celem artykułu jest diagnoza tego, jak zmieniła się międzynarodowa rozpoznawalność polskiej politologii w trakcie ostatniego okresu ewaluacji nauki (2017–2021). W tym celu przeprowadzono analizę kilku wskaźników ilościowych z ewaluacji 2013–2016 oraz 2017–2021, dotyczących liczby publikacji, miejsca publikacji, prestiżu czasopisma i wpływu artykułu. W hipotezach założono, że w latach 2017–2021 dorobek liczbowy polskiej politologii obejmujący prace indeksowane w międzynarodowych bazach danych zwiększył się znacząco, jeżeli jednak idzie o wpływ polskiej akademii na nauki o polityce w skali globalnej, pozostaje on nieznaczny, sytuując nauki o polityce na peryferiach globalnego dyskursu. Do analizy wykorzystano dane udostępniane w programie SciVal. Wybrano artykuły, które były indeksowane w bazie Scopus w kolekcji „Politics & International Studies”, opublikowane z afiliacją co najmniej jednej z 34 uczelni, które w okresie 2017–2021 ewaluowały się w dyscyplinie nauki o polityce i administracji. Wyniki przeprowadzonej analizy potwierdzają założenia sformułowane w hipotezach.

The article aims to present a critical project of publishing the literary and artistic works by Bruno Schulz in a uniform edition. Few readers realize that Schulz’s fiction exists in two editorial versions: the anonymous Cracow edition (published several times since 1957) and the Wrocław edition (prepared by Jerzy Jarzębski for the National Library series in 1989). The differences between them are not essential, but they call for a critical intervention which is not an easy task. The choice of all Schulz’s editors are is in fact limited to the first editions from the 1930s since the manuscripts of the stories have been lost. No proper editorial basis makes it difficult to verify texts published in the book versions. In discussions about different variants, the frame of reference should be a corpus of texts of undisputed authenticity, including the surviving correspondence of the writer, edited and published by Jerzy Ficowski as The Book of Letters in 1975 (later editions in 2002 and 2008), although Ficowski’s edition must be amended by comparison with the available originals of the letters. A critical edition of Schulz’s fiction must also take into consideration the versions of stories published first in periodicals and restore the author’s version of the first editions combining the text with illustrations. In general, in a critical edition Schulz-the writer cannot be separated from Schulz-the artist. Therefore, the complete edition of Schulz’s works should include his art works, too. They have been subject to research many times, but still no reliable complete presentation is available. The previous editions contain some false information and dating; often the “museum” titles have been accepted as if they had been given by Schulz himself, one and the same work has been listed with different sizes, the colors of reproduction differ from those of the original, etc. The final result of new research must be a critical edition of Schulz’s works in several volumes: I. Cinnamon Shops; II. Sanatorium under the Sign of the Hourglass; III. Uncollected Works; IV. The Book of Letters; V. Critical Essays; VI. The Book of Idolatry; VII. Paintings and Drawings (in two or three volumes).

Jednym z obszarów, w których w ostatnich latach dokonuje się istotny postęp w publikacji źródeł, jest edytorstwo akt sejmikowych. Zasadniczym pytaniem, które staje przed wydawcami źródeł, jest kwestia zasad edycji. Wydawcy litewskich akt sejmikowych znajdują się w specyficznej sytuacji, ponieważ stają przed problemem wydania w jednym tomie źródeł w języku polskim i ruskim. Tymczasem w polskiej praktyce edytorskiej brak ściśle określonych zasad wydawania źródeł cyrylickich, a współczesne doświadczenia w tej materii są dość skromne. Z podobnym problemem zetknął się zespół przygotowujący edycję akt sejmikowych województwa wileńskiego z lat 1566–1655. W trakcie prac, w celu określenia zasad edycji tekstu, dokonano analizy istniejących modeli teoretycznych i rozwiązań przyjętych w praktyce wydawniczej oraz ich oceny pod kątem przydatności dla zadań, które przed sobą postawiliśmy. W niniejszym artykule przeanalizowane zostaną współczesne instrukcje wydawnicze i rekomendacje metodyczne dla publikacji źródeł cyrylickich sformułowane w edytorstwie rosyjskim, białoruskim i ukraińskim, a także wybrane publikacje źródłowe dokumentów cyrylickich z terenu Wielkiego Księstwa Litewskiego z XVI–XVII w. Wnioski z analizy posłużą do sformułowania propozycji konkretnych rozwiązań dla wydawców akt sejmikowych.
One area in which significant progress has been made in the publication of sources in recent years is the editing of sejmik records. The fundamental question facing publishers of sources is the issue of editing priniples. Publishers of Lithuanian sejmik records are in a peculiar situation, as they face the problem of publishing sources in Polish and Ruthenian in one volume. Meanwhile, in Polish editing practice, there are no strictly defined rules for publishing Cyrillic sources, and contemporary experience in this matter is quite modest. The team preparing the edition of the sejmik records of the Vilnius voivodship from 1566–1655 faced a similar problem. In the course of the work, in order to determine the principles of editing the text, the existing theoretical models and solutions adopted in publishing practice were analyzed and evaluated for their suitability for the tasks ahead. This article will analyze contemporary publishing instructions and methodological recommendations for the publication of Cyrillic sources formulated in Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian editing, as well as selected source publications of Cyrillic documents from the territory of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania from the 16th–17th centuries. The conclusions of the analysis will be used to formulate proposals for specific solutions for the publishers of sejmik records.

A proposal is advanced by the author to publ'ish a biographical dictionary of persons having merits fn the field of monument protection and conservation with a view in miind to preserve the memory of their contributions made for the sake of national culture. The publication of their biographies would offer an opportunity to perpetuate the latest history of monuments which have been subjected to conservation or, in several cases rebuilt quite anew after .the last war. Using questionnaries it is still possible today, the author says, to gather rich biographical material from personal information which can become not available after few years time.

Felieton przedstawia uwikłanie naukowców w różnorodne sieci urzędniczych (często bezsensownych) wytycznych. Demaskuje to, co ukrywa się w zawiłych procedurach parametrycznych, pseudonaukowych, mętnych tekstach. Autor upomina się, by pisarstwo naukowe było sztuką myśli i słowa, a nie grafomańskim bełkotem czy modną bzdurą.
The essay presents the entanglement of scientists in a diverse network of clerical (often meaningless) guidelines. The article exposes what is hidden in the intricate parametric, pseudoscientific procedures and vague texts. The author demands that the academic writing would be the art of thoughts and words, not graphomaniac gibberish or fashionable nonsense.

The author deliberates the phenomena of neo-nazism in the Internet in the perspective of postcolonial theory. Her aim is to present how neo-fascists construct the representation of “Other” and deconstruct it. Her field laboratory was ethnically and religiously diversed in the Podlasie region in Poland, where the number of racial and homophobic incidents has increased recently. Then, she present her ethnological dream: to publish “postcolonial theory and practice handbook for teachers”, the goal of which would be to struggle against bias and intolerance. As a result, the author perceives the goal of anthropology in general as applied, engaged in public discourses and an instrument to solve real social problems.

I am reviewing the monography elaborated by Anna Józefowicz Images of childhood in Polish children’s prose of the 21st century. In the search of educational contexts (2020). The publi-cation consists of an introduction, 12 chapters, the ending and the bibliography. The author made the latest children’s prose as the source of the analysis which was addressed to prima-ry school pupils at the 1st and 2nd stage of education. For the analysis and interpretation, the author selected over 140 publications. The research conducted by the author was qualita-tive and interdisciplinary.

This article is confrontational with the theses presented in the paper: O pewnym (chybionym) studium przypadku [About a (wrong) case study ] (Chybińska 2017), which is the answer to the issues presented in the article: Etyka w przekładzie specjalistycznym a kompetencje tłumacza tekstów specjalistycznych - studium przypadku [Ethics in specialized translation and competence of specialist translator: case study] (Boroch 2017). In this article (Boroch 2017), the methodological principles in the specialist translation and the substantive and ethical consequences of their violation have been presented. Exemplary material was the Polish translation of Henryk Hiż's article: Peirce's Influence on Logic in Poland (Hiż 1997, 264–270) published in ”Studia z Filozofii Polskiej” in 2015 (Hiż 2015, 21–29) along with a biographical section (Chybińska 2015, 29–33) which both constitute a coherent publication. The article has raised the following issues: (1) the lack of justification of the basis of translation, i.e. the primacy of the manuscript over the printed version, that is the last one controlled by the author; (2) inconsistency with regard to termination of translation; (3) unauthorized introduction of a Polish neologism “dylematyczny” derived from the (non-existent) English lexical unit “dylemmatic” (Sic!); (4) proposal of the notation of Peirce's law: (p, q, r ) (Sic!).

System umożliwia prezentację w Internecie dzieła oraz procesu jego powstawania połączonego z oceną w postaci dyskusji jego odbiorców. Wykorzystano wzorzec projektowy MVC dający dużą elastyczność modyfikacji i rozwoju zbudowanego systemu pilotowego.
The article presents a concept and elements of a design of an implemented system for disseminating literary works of art. The system enables a presentation of works of art on the Internet as well as the process of their creation together with the assessment in the form of discussions among the recipients. The MVC design pattern was used, which provides a substantial flexibility of modification and development of the pilot system.

This article discusses the challenges and problems caused by predatory journals in scholarly communication. By focusing on the editorial practices, I describe the case of Dr. Anna Fraud (Anna O. Szust in Polish): a bogus scientist created by four Polish scholars. Dr. Fraud became a member of editorial boards in over 40 scientific journals although she is a fake person and, obviously has no experience in journal editing. The present paper aims to show that scientist always have to care about a quality control and a peer review system. The article concludes with a presentation of the ‘Think. Check. Submit’ Initiative which provides useful and helpful tools for analysing journals by potential contributors.
