Our labour is intricately woven into our identity, extending beyond mere livelihood. It ought to facilitate personal growth, define our societal roles, and contribute to a common good within the confines of social and environmental sustainability. However, the contemporary work landscape is undergoing profound and global changes, disrupting traditional and conventional notions of work dynamics and its associated relationships. Amidst the diverse and country-specific alterations, a universal paradigm shift is reshaping nearly every sector of the economy. The pressing question emerges: How can we prevent the shift toward more flexible employment from translating into a life of perpetual instability? As job structures become more malleable and the boundaries between professional and personal life blur, the risks of self-exploitation and work-induced stress loom. In navigating these transformations, we must discern the evolving paradigms of work and consider their social and economic repercussions. What lessons are we being prompted to internalize as the European work landscape undergoes unprecedented changes? It becomes imperative to explore these shifts and their implications for a sustainable and equitable future. Exploring the existential insights of the Shabbàt and extracting valuable lessons from biblical wisdom prompts us to ponder the significance of rest in fostering healthy relationships and connectivity—with ourselves, others, our work, and our shared environment. The prevalent culture of constant availability and the obligation to stay connected could benefit from a biblical perspective, particularly in grasping the essence of Shabbàts wisdom.

In the opening remark of Nicomachean Ethics VIII 1 Aristotle notices that the next step would be a discussion of philia, since it is a certain aretē or is associated with aretē (NE VIII 1 1155a 1–2). This article is an attempt to determine how the real object of philia and aretē are related from Aristotle’s point of view. The author performs a study into two sections. The first section is focused on the analysis of aretē and its various types, in particular the human one. The second section is concentrated on the typology of philia, namely friendship and its particular kinds. The author shows that the relation between philia and aretē can be described in two ways: if both philia and aretē play the crucial role in leading a eudaimonic life, then philia is the aretological friendship and aretē—the human one, namely the whole consists of the aretē of character in the full sense and the practical wisdom on condition that the aretological friends equate eudaimonia with life focused on the political or practical activity, or even of the theoretical wisdom, providing that they identify it with the highest form of eudaimonic life, that is, the theoretical one. If, however, philia is to be a term said in many ways (pleonachōs legetai) and aretē is to be understood in a broad sense, that is, as “being good at something”, then philia can signify every kind of friendship, namely the aretological, the hedonistic and the utilitarian one, whereas aretē—qualification or skill that makes these friendships perform their functions well. The first possibility is that the relation between philia and aretē is limited to the aretological friendship at the expense of narrowing the meaning of aretē to the human one. The second possibility is that every kind of friendship is considered as the functional thing and, in consequence, defined by their proper function. From this point of view, all friendships are accompanied by appropriate aretai, namely by qualifications or skills that guarantee the perfect fulfillment of their proper function and, therefore, the achievement of the set goal by two persons in question.
W uwadze otwierającej Etykę nikomachejską VIII 1 Arystoteles stwierdza, że „philia jest określoną aretē lub jest nierozłączna z aretē” (EN VIII 1 1155a 1–2). Celem artykułu jest interpretacja tego stwierdzenia, z podziałem na dwie części. W pierwszej autor przeprowadza badanie dotyczące aretē i jej różnych typów, w szczególności aretē ludzkiej. W drugiej bada pojęcie philia, czyli przyjaźń i jej poszczególne typy. Autor wykazuje, że związek pomiędzy philia i aretē można rozumieć na dwa sposoby: a) jeśli philia oraz aretē są rozpatrywane z punktu widzenia możliwości prowadzenia eudaimonicznego życia, to philia oznacza przyjaźń aretologiczną, a aretē — aretē ludzką; b) jeśli philia jest rozpatrywana jako termin wielorako orzekany (pleonachōs legetai), a aretē jako termin względny, czyli „bycie dobrym w czymś”, to philia oznacza każdy typ przyjaźni, czyli przyjaźń aretologiczną, hedonistyczną i utylitarną, a aretē — konkretną umiejętność lub skuteczność w działaniu charakterystycznym dla każdej z wymienionych przyjaźni. Zgodnie z a) związek pomiędzy philia i aretē ogranicza się do przyjaźni aretologicznej, ale kosztem zredukowania aretē do aretē ludzkiej. Zgodnie z b) związek pomiędzy philia i aretē dotyczy każdego typu przyjaźni, jako że każdy typ przyjaźni pozostaje w związku z przynależną do niej aretē, której praktykowanie skutkuje doskonałym spełnieniem jej funkcji, czyli niezawodnym osiąganiem celu przez przyjaciół.

This qualitative exploration is a follow-up study to the quantitative research published in a peer-reviewed international journal in 2023. Generally, the study delved into the transition experiences and preferences of 20 Filipino education supervisors in relation to their supervisory practices in over 80 Philippine public schools. Through validated open-ended interview questions, the responses were gathered and subsequently subjected to thematic analysis, which resulted in the emergence of the following themes: (1) the adjustments and challenges of the supervisors as they switched back from technology-assisted to in-person supervision; and (2) their preferred mode of supervision in the new normal of education.

To aim for the unspeakable divine, nothing beats the via pulchritudinis musicalis, the path of beauty advocated by Christian tradition, from Augustine to Luther and the recent popes, which contains parables to make the “unheard of” of the Spirit heard and to reconcile the disagreements between humans. The article deploys twelve metaphors of musical spirituality, as so many different sounds available to seekers of meaning, singers and musicians of the infinite, playing on the numbers: the sound of silence; the three-tone Trinitarian chord; the seven notes of the divine scale; humanity and the believing community as a four-part choir; the five lines of the staff of existence; the righteousness (justice) of the six strings of the guitar; the transcendence of the Christ melody; the stereophony between heaven and earth; the novelty of the final biblical Maranatha; the two hands and ten fingers of the pianist; song and music for the spiritual journey and liturgy; the 144,000 voices of the hymns of Revelation. For nothing reaches the heart of God beyond words like perfect harmony when the final chord is sounded.

The paper attempts to answer the question: how could human individuality be a resource making it possible to cope with the experience of feeling uncertainty and risk? Jan Szczepański’s idea of individuality defines the structure and functions of that dimension of the human condition. It tries to explain the sense of man’s inner world and their reflexivity in struggling with the negative consequences due to the social organisation of collective life. An analytic view of individuality included in this concept allows for revealing the emergency nature of personal identity affected by dialogue between the inner world and the internalised outside world. The discussed concept might increase the attempt to synthesise it with the vision of mindfulness. The effect of it is a unique underlining role of loneliness in the individual process of human development and captures the moral character of individuality (hipo-egoic phenomena).
Tekst jest próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób indywidualność człowieka może stanowić zasób pozwalający na radzenie sobie z doświadczanym poczuciem niepewności i ryzyka w życiu codziennym. Wykorzystana w tym celu została koncepcja indywidualności Jana Szczepańskiego, która definiuje strukturę i funkcje tego wymiaru ludzkiej kondycji osobowej. Stara się wyjaśnić znaczenie świata wewnętrznego człowieka oraz jego refleksyjności w procesie zmagania się jednostki z negatywnymi konsekwencjami organizacji wspólnotowego życia. Analityczny ogląd indywidualności w przywołanej koncepcji pozwala także dostrzec emergentną naturę tożsamości osoby, będącą efektem prowadzonego dialogu między światem wewnętrznym i zinternalizowanym światem zewnętrznym człowieka. Możliwości poznawcze omawianej koncepcji pozwala poszerzyć próba jej syntezy z kategorią uważności, czego efektem jest podkreślenie szczególnej roli samotności w indywidualnym rozwoju człowieka oraz uchwycenie moralnego charakteru indywidualności (hipo-egoic phenomena).

Starting with such a provocative title, the essay aims to answer the question of whether jurisprudence can be considered as a source of law in the canonical judicial system. In order to achieve the objectives of the present work, it is proposed not to observe a traditional path followed by those who interpret the provision of canon 19 of the current Code of Canon Law, but rather to consider jurisprudential creativity which represents, in its various manifestations, an unavoidable feature of legal experience. This premise helps to reconsider the source concept of law and systematizes the role of jurisprudential doctrine in the hierarchy of sources in the canonical legal system.

The article has a scientific and research character. Its purpose is to discuss the protective proceedings against the perpetrator of domestic violence in the area of Polish civil procedure and to answer questions about the method of such security, its subject, purpose, course of the proceedings and the provision of security. The answers to these questions may have not only doctrinal but also practical value, especially since there are no scientific studies on this topic. Although the basic research method used in the article is a formal and dogmatic analysis, the practice of applying the law was also taken into account, using the analysis of the jurisprudence of common courts and the scientific discussion conducted on the basis of these judgments. This new method of securing non-monetary claims of a novation nature serves to protect people affected by domestic violence and to provide temporary legal protection by isolating the victim from the violence offender in situations where he poses a threat to the life or health of household members. Securing is subject to the prior issuing of an order or prohibition by the competent authority (Police, Military Police or court). If such an order or prohibition has been issued, the court may grant security on the terms set out in Articles 7552 to 7554 of the Civil Procedure Code; if there is no prior order, the security is granted on general terms (Article 755 of the Code).
Artykuł ma charakter naukowo-badawczy. Celem jest omówienie postępowania zabezpieczającego wobec sprawcy przemocy w rodzinie w obszarze polskiego postępowania cywilnego oraz udzielenie odpowiedzi na pytania o sposób tego zabezpieczenia, jego przedmiot, cel, przebieg postępowania i udzielenie zabezpieczenia. Odpowiedzi na te pytania mogą mieć nie tylko wartość dogmatyczną, lecz także praktyczną, zwłaszcza że brak jest naukowych opracowań dotyczących stricte tego tematu. Chociaż podstawową metodą badawczą zastosowaną w artykule jest analiza formalno-dogmatyczna, to uwzględniono również praktykę stosowania prawa, posługując się analizą orzecznictwa sądów powszechnych i dyskusji naukowej prowadzonej na podstawie tych judykatów. Ten nowy sposób zabezpieczenia roszczeń niepieniężnych o charakterze nowacyjnym służy ochronie osób dotkniętych przemocą w rodzinie i zapewnieniu tymczasowej ochrony prawnej poprzez odizolowanie ofiary od podmiotu stosującego przemoc w sytuacjach, gdy stwarza on zagrożenie dla życia lub zdrowia domowników. Zabezpieczenie jest uwarunkowane uprzednim wydaniem nakazu lub zakazu przez właściwy organ (Policję, Żandarmerię Wojskową lub sąd). Jeżeli taki nakaz lub zakaz został wydany, sąd może udzielić zabezpieczenia na zasadach określonych w art. 7552–7554 Kodeksu postępowania cywilnego; jeżeli brak jest wcześniejszego nakazu, wówczas udzielenie zabezpieczenia następuje na zasadach ogólnych (art. 755 Kodeksu).

Modern enterprises operate on the basis of the Industry 4.0 paradigm. Technology is becoming an inherent attribute of the economy, but at the same time, one should bear in mind the employees, who create enterprises, and the spiritual side, so as to maintain a balance between what is tangible and intangible. Religion and spirituality are intertwined and have an impact on business practice and corporate management. Research on a group of young people has shown that faith plays a vital role in running a business. Moreover, the sustainability and uninterrupted activity of the Church can be a model for many companies. Subordinating one’s own affairs and individual ambitions to the common good and higher values, is the direction which managers of modern institutions can follow. Such an enterprise needs a leader, a charismatic leader who, as an intangible asset, will primarily see the value of the employees entrusted to him, and only then, the material value of the company. The personnel function and the humanistic approach are the key aspects of a well-functioning enterprise. The article analyses the role of St. Peter in managing the Church, and indicates the possibility of managing modern enterprises based on Church experience.

The article presents a concept of research and its social application concerning the creation and modelling of theologically inspired and supported patriotic attitudes in the Polish historical and security-related context. Biorąc pod uwagę szybkie i trudno przewidywalne zmiany, które zachodzą we wszystkich obszarach aktywności ludzi, istnieje potrzeba zastanowienia się nad rolą edukacji w tak dynamicznym otoczeniu. Pojawia się konieczność znalezienia odpowiedzi na pytanie, jakich kompetencji potrzebują studenci i absolwenci uczelni, czego i jak nauczać, aby sprostać wymaganiom gospodarki 4.0. Odpowiedzią na wyzwania edukacji 4.0 wśród wielu innych jest podejście zindywidualizowane oparte na autentycznej relacji między nauczycielem a osobą uczącą się. W związku z powyższym autorki prezentują tutoring jako metodę spersonalizowanej edukacji opartej na relacji jako odpowiedź na wyzwania współczesnej edukacji. Część badawcza to analiza tematyczna wypowiedzi udzielonych podczas zogniskowanych wywiadów grupowych, których celem było zidentyfikowanie zmian, jakie zachodzą w odniesieniu do nauczycieli, studentów oraz na poziomie organizacji po wdrożeniu tutoringu na Uniwersytecie Ekonomicznym w Poznaniu. Uzyskane w toku analizy wyniki z jednej strony wzbogacają teoretyczny aspekt edukacji 4.0, a z drugiej mają walor praktyczny, gdyż pokazują rozwiązania edukacyjne, których zastosowanie wzmacnia budowanie takiego środowiska, w którym poprzez tutoring rozwijane są kompetencje przyszłości i kształtowana jest kultura uczenia się.
Given the rapid and unpredictable changes taking place in all areas of human activity, there is a need to rethink the role of education in such a dynamic environment, and searching for answers to the question of what kind of competence and skills are needed by students and university alumni is of high importance. It is crucial to consider what and how to teach in order to meet the requirements of the 4.0 economy. An answer to the challenges of education 4.0 would appear to be an individualised approach based on an authentic relationship between the teacher and the learner. The authors of this paper present tutoring as a method of personalised education, based on relationships, as a response to the needs of contemporary education. This paper consists of a theoretical part in which the authors discuss the origins and assumptions of tutoring, placing them in the context of education 4.0, and a research part, in the form of a thematic analysis of statements given during focus group interviews, the aim of which was to identify changes that occur in relation to teachers, students and at the organisational level after the implementation of tutoring in the Poznań University of Economics and Business. The results obtained during the analysis not only enrich the theoretical aspect of education 4.0, but also have practical value, as they show educational solutions whose application strengthens the creation of an environment in which future competences and the learning culture are developed through tutoring.

This paper traces the dramatic fate of Maria Konstantinova, who oversaw the Studios for Chronicles and Documentaries from 1949 to 1951. Her short activity in the archive of Bulgarian cinematography is outlined on the basis of documents from her professional dossier. Some of these documents were required for her appointment while others to provide information about her professional activities, or they are statements of her punishment. She was persecuted for revealing a “state secret” and negligence, delayed delivery of the film “The Long Way of a Cigarette” (dubbed in Russian), and the resulting “delayed production of a copy for the USSR”. Furthermore, in anonymous and signed reports, Maria Konstantinova was accused of financial abuse, immoral behaviour, a “grossly corrupt bohemian past”, “lesbian relationships with girlfriends”, “drunkenness and playing poker with men, and especially with women”...

As the basic technology of human action recognition, pose estimation is attracting more and more researchers' attention, while edge application scenarios pose a higher challenge. This paper proposes a lightweight multi-person pose estimation scheme to meet the needs of real-time human action recognition on the edge end. This scheme uses AlphaPose to extract human skeleton nodes, and adds ResNet and Dense Upsampling Revolution to improve its accuracy. Meanwhile, we use YOLO to enhance AlphaPose’s support for multi-person pose estimation, and optimize the proposed model with TensorRT. In addition, this paper sets Jetson Nano as the Edge AI deployment device of the proposed model and successfully realizes the model migration to the edge end. The experimental results show that the speed of the optimized object detection model can reach 20 FPS, and the optimized multi-person pose estimation model can reach 10 FPS. With the image resolution of 320×240, the model’s accuracy is 73.2%, which can meet the real-time requirements. In short, our scheme can provide a basis for lightweight multi-person action recognition scheme on the edge end.

Personality is one of the utmost important assets of an individual which aids in categorizing the bounds of success, happiness and achievement in our life[1]. The study explores the sensing and intuitive personality dimensions of selected business school students across Gujarat state. Further, the study explores statistical differences in terms of various demographic aspects. NERIS Type Explorer® Scale was used to check the personality type of a total of 1067 management students. 69.5 per cent (742) of the respondents have a Sensing (S) personality dimension compared to 30.5 per cent (325) Intuition (N) personality dimension as dominating type. The conclusions of this research study are also reinforced by past research work which confirms that there are noteworthy differences between Sensing (S) and Intuitive (N) personality dimensions regarding selected demographic variables.

L’obiettivo di questo saggio, intitolato “La cittadinanza digitale e i valori della persona umana”, è investigare come sia possibile progettare una cittadinanza digitale aperta e consapevole adatta a proteggere i valori fondamentali e i diritti della persona umana attraverso i seguenti sei punti: 1) il significato della cittadinanza digitale; 2) i principi della società digitale nelle previsioni dell’Unione Europea: la costruzione di un senso di appartenenza attraverso la rete; 3) i diritti digitali per i cittadini o per le persone?; 4) necessità di separare i principi cristiani dai valori cristiani: vita, la protezione della persona umana, testimonianza della verità come valori “cristiani” e civili; 5) gli aspetti negativi della società digitale; 6) la società digitale e i diritti umani nella chiesa e nelle religioni.
Celem opracowania zatytułowanego „Obywatelstwo cyfrowe a wartości osoby ludzkiej” jest zbadanie, w jaki sposób można zaprojektować otwarte i świadome obywatelstwo cyfrowe, odpowiednie do ochrony podstawowych wartości i praw osoby ludzkiej, przez następujące sześć punktów: 1) znaczenie obywatelstwa cyfrowego; 2) zasady społeczeństwa cyfrowego w prognozach Unii Europejskiej; budowa poczucia przynależności poprzez sieć; 3) prawa cyfrowe dla obywateli czy dla ludzi?; 4) potrzeba oddzielenia zasad chrześcijańskich od wartości chrześcijańskich: życia, ochrony osoby ludzkiej, świadectwa prawdy jako wartości „chrześcijańskich” i obywatelskich; 5) negatywne aspekty społeczeństwa cyfrowego; 6) społeczeństwo cyfrowe a prawa człowieka w Kościele i religiach.
The goal of this essay, entitled “The digital citizenship and the values of the human person”, is to investigate how it is possible to design an open and aware digital citizenship suitable for protecting the fundamental values and rights of the human person through the following six points: 1) the meaning of digital citizenship; 2) the principles of the digital society in the forecasts of the European Union; the construction of a sense of belonging through the network; 3) digital rights for citizens or for people?; 4) need to separate Christian principles from Christian values: life, the protection of the human person, witness to the truth as “Christian” and civil values; 5) the negative aspects of the digital society; 6) digital society and human rights in the Church and in religions.
