Opis:
Synchronization signals are requisite for calibrating electrical measurement devices with digital output when using conventional calibration methods. However, since the signal sampling process of the analogue merging units (MUs) operating in an intelligent substation does not rely on external synchronization signals, accuracy calibration without the use of synchronization signals is of particular importance in order to guarantee the measurement accuracy in practical situations. So far, very little research on calibration systems independent of synchronization signals has been performed. This paper presents a design of the calibration system without dependence on synchronization signals. To verify the feasibility of the proposed design, the designed system and a conventional calibration system have been employed in testing the accuracy of the same analogue MU of a 0.2 accuracy class. The comparison of the test results shows that the differences of ratio errors are below 0.02%, and the maximum difference of phase errors is about 4′. This paper also provides a new efficient and significant calibration method which does not require any external synchronization signals.

Opis:
W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono koncepcję wymiany informacji pomiędzy domenami w systemie ochrony sieci federacyjnych. Zaproponowano architekturę systemu ochrony sieci federacyjnych, a w szczególności omówiono zasadę działania Modułów Decyzyjnych (MD).
In this paper a concept and architecture of the Federated Networks Protection System (FNPS) are presented. The system components and, particularly, the Decision Module are described. The major contribution of the paper is the concept of P2P (Peer to Peer) based information exchange between federated networks. Communication between Decision Modules (DM) in each of the federated domain is based on P2P in order to inform about network status, detected attacks or anomalies and distribute General Decision Rules (GDR) describing specific reactions. The presented system is dedicated for federated networks and systems used by the public administration and military sector. Such systems can increase their overall security and resiliency by sharing and exchanging security related information and general reaction rules. There is also presented a sample scenario (SQLIA - SQL injection attack detection) to show how the proposed system can detect complex attacks and benefit from information sharing between federated domains.

Opis:
The efficiency of peer-to-peer data connection for mobile applications is still an issue, and an essential problem for their users. The newest 4G LTE networks, though offering high throughput, still do not allow a direct peer-to-peer communication. Moreover, the users of cellular networks are still charged for each megabyte of data transfer. Much better connection parameters and smaller latencies are ordered by Wi-Fi networks. However, setting up hotspot Wi-Fi networks still requires some effort, as it must be done manually in most cases. In this paper, we propose a solution based on a technique of automatic switching between a Wi-Fi hotspot and a cellular network. Our method allows one to minimize latency and maximize throughput. It also lowers the time and effort needed to establish a Wi-Fi connection.

Opis:
This paper proposes a novel peer-to-peer communication framework to implement geographical location oriented networks, called G-LocON. Location-based services have been gaining in popularity, as proven by ridesharing and mobile games. Although these services have to construct geolocation oriented networks based on their users’ geographical locations, they completely rely on client/server models to communicate with neighboring terminals. G-LocON provides geolocation oriented device-to-device communication only with the current wireless technologies, such as LTE and Wi-Fi, cooperating with the global positioning system and peer-to-peer overlay networking. G-LocON will serve as a type of a mobile ad-hoc network in which devices located within the focusing area are capable of communicating directly. We developed a primitive Android application to implement the GLocON framework. Evaluation of the solution’s performance has verified the usefulness of the proposed system that offers an admissive transmission delay. Moreover, to confirm the application-related potential of the G-LocON framework, we also show a practical map software in which all neighboring mobile devices present in the focusing area are displayed.

Opis:
Blockchain-based cyber-physical systems (CPSs) and the blockchain Internet of things (BIoT) are two major focuses of the modern technological revolution. Currently we have security attacks like distributed denial-of-service (DDoS), address resolution protocol (ARP) spoofing attacks, various phishing and configuration threats, network congestion, etc. on the existing CPS and IoT architectures. This study conducts a complete survey on the flaws of the present centralized IoT system’s peer-to-peer (P2P) communication and the CPS architecture’s machine-to-machine (M2M) communication. Both these architectures could use the inherent consensus algorithms and cryptographic advantages of blockchain technology. To show how blockchain technology can resolve the flaws of the existing CPS and IoT architectures while maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and availability (the CIA triad), we conduct a holistic survey here on this topic and discuss the research focus in the domain of the BIoT. Then we analyse the similarities and dissimilarities of blockchain technology in IoT and CPS architectures. Finally, it is well understood that one should explore whether blockchain technology will give advantages to CPS and IoT applications through a decision support system (DSS) with a relevant mathematical model, so here we provide the DSS with such a model for this purpose.

Opis:
Research background: There are widely recognized benefits of sharing economy for entrepreneurs and consumers. The European Commission emphasizes the importance of European countries being open to new opportunities that sharing economy brings. In order to promote the development of sharing economy, it is important to understand what factors contribute to its development. Purpose of the article: The presented paper aims to identify the main factors relevant for the growth of sharing economy and to determine whether there are factors which are more significant for the development of the sharing economy than others. Based on reviewed literature, the Authors compiled a set of indicators and employed them for research purposes. The selected indicators were assigned into four main groups: technological, political and regulatory environment, economic and social-cultural environment. Methods: The authors used two multicriteria methods (SAW and APH), which were applied to the set of indicators and modeled five different situations by attributing significance to the indicators. The Authors have applied this set of indicators for assessing the following selected countries:  Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and the United Kingdom. The data covers the years 2011-2015. Findings & Value added: The results of the research show that technological readiness and social-cultural environment are significant for the development of sharing economy. For further research the Authors recommend the creation of a composite Sharing Economy Index (SHEI).
