Opis:
Stability of silver nanoparticles strongly influences the potential of their application. The literature shows wide possibilities of nanoparticles preparation, which has significantly impact on their properties. Therefore, the improvement of AgNPs preparation plays a key role in the case of their practical use. The pH values of the environment are one of the important factors, which directly influences stability of AgNPs. We present a comparing study of the silver nanoparticles prepared by „bottom-up“ methods over by chemical synthesis and biosynthesis using AgNO3 (0.29 mM) solution. For the biosynthesis of the silver nanoparticles, the green freshwater algae Parachlorella kessleri and Citrus limon extracts were used as reducing and stabilizing agents. Chemically synthesized AgNPs were performed using sodium citrate (0.5%) as a capping agent and 0.01% gelatine as a reducing agent. The formation and long term stability of those silver nanoparticles synthesized either biologically and chemically were clearly observed by solution colour changes and confirmed by UV-vis spectroscopy. The pH values of formed nanoparticle solutions were 3 and 5.8 for biosynthesized AgNPs using extract of Citrus limon and Parachlorella kessleri, respectively and 7.2 for chemically prepared AgNPs solution using citrate. The SEM as a surface imaging method was used for the characterization of nanoparticle shapes, size distribution and also for resolving different particle sizes. These micrographs confirmed the presence of dispersed and aggregated AgNPs with various shapes and sizes.

Opis:
The depression effect of corn starch on the surface of muscovite mica powder at different pulp pH value was investigated. The experiments were performed on single mineral, and its flotation performance was studied by flotation tests, adsorption quantity measurement, zeta-potential technique and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR). The results indicated that the depression effect was varied with the pulp pH value when dodecylamine chloride (DDA) was used as collector, the strongest inhibitory effect appeared at pH 2 and the zeta-potential of muscovite mica increased overall after conditioned with corn starch solution. It was confirmed by the FT-IR spectra that the corn starch indeed adsorbed on the surface of muscovite mica powder and physical adsorption was occurred between muscovite mica and corn starch. This study leads to a better understanding of the depression effect of corn starch on the surface of muscovite mica powder.

Opis:
Flotation of copper-bearing shale in aqueous solutions of NaCl at their different pH values was investigated. The tests were carried out in a laboratory flotation machine. The pH range was between 5 and 10 while NaCl concentrations were 0.5M, 1.0M and 2.0M. It was observed that the flotation recovery of the copper shale was increasing with the increase of pH and concentration of the salt solution. On the basis of thermodynamic and hydrodynamic considerations it was postulated that the increasing surface tension was responsible for better shale flotation observed with increasing salt concentration. The observed improved shale flotation caused by increasing pH is most likely due to changes in the properties of the thin film between particle and bubble including mosaic structure of water on the surface of shale. It was shown that the zeta potential of shale particles, zeta potential of air bubbles, solution surface tension, and shale hydrophobicity were not responsible for the increasing with pH recoveries.

Opis:
Sulphates occur in waters mainly as a simple anion (SO)42-. In waters with high sulphate concentration also ion associate anions with some cation occurrence is possible. Together with bicarbonates and chlorides they form a major part of anions in natural waters. In common groundwaters and surface waters sulphate content ranges in tens to hundreds of milligrams/liter. Particularly rich in sulphates are some mineral waters. The article describes options of desulphurisation of real mine water. After the stage of aluminium compound using in previous research we examined using of barium compounds, namely BaCO3 and Ba(OH)2. After application of these compounds on an artificial model solution we focused on the real mine water from a flooded mine Smolník. The tests were conducted at various values pH, at 12, 8, 4.5 with pre-treated real water and at pH 3.9 with untreated real water. From the results it can be concluded that there was high efficiency of desulphurisation at all levels of pH. In terms of the selection of a particular compound barium hydroxide Ba(OH)2 was confirmed as the best.
Siarczany występują w wodach głównie jako anion (SO)42-. W wodach o wysokim stężeniu siarczanów możliwe jest również występowanie anionowych wiązań jonowych z pewną liczbą kationów. Wraz z wodorowęglanami i chlorkami stanowią one znaczną część anionów w wodach. W wodach gruntowych i wodach powierzchniowych zawartość siarczanów wynosi od dziesiątek do setek miligramów na litr. Szczególnie bogate w siarczany są niektóre wody mineralne. W artykule przedstawiono opcje odsiarczania wody kopalnianej. Zbadano możliwości wykorzystania związków baru, mianowicie BaCO3 i Ba (OH)2. Przeprowadzono badania na próbkach wzorcowych i próbkach rzeczywistych - wodzie kopalnianej z zatopionej kopalni Smolník. Testy prowadzono przy różnych wartościach pH = 12; 8; 4,5 za pomocą wody o pH naturalnym i przy pH 3,9. Na podstawie wyników można stwierdzić, że na wszystkich poziomach pH uzyskano wysoką skuteczność odsiarczania. Najlepsze wyniki uzyskano dla wodorotlenek baru Ba (OH)2.

Opis:
The purpose of this research is to determine the best concentration and effect of garlic extract incorporated on tilapia skin gelatin-based edible coating to preserve and extend the shelf life of fish meatball at cold storage. This research was conducted from May 2018 until October 2018 on Fisheries Product Processing Laboratory of The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. The garlic extract conducted with maceration method with ethanol 96% was performed at Organic Chemical Laboratory FMIPA Universitas Padjadjaran, and for TPC test, inhibition test of edible coating Tilapia’s fish-skin with garlic extract was conducted in Microbiology and Molecular Biotechnology Laboratory of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Universitas Padjadjaran. The method used is experimental method with 5 treatments which is meatballs without edible coating. The addition of garlic extract was done with various concentration at 0%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%. The observations were Total Plate Count (TPC) test, inhibition zone test against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and pH value. The results showed that the best treatment is 2% garlic extract with TPC value 1.1×105 cfu/g during 14 days of storage and concluded that it could extend the shelf life of meatball until 14 days, pH value was 7.03 and inhibition zone against P. aeruginosa was 7.01 mm. The addition of garlic extract on tilapia skin gelatin-based edible coating could extend the shelf life of fish meatballs until 14 days on cold storage.

Sodium chloride is the most often used chemical to malt ice and snow on the roads and has negative effects on the roadside environment. The main is soil erosion, changes in mineral composition of the soil and negative impact of the growth of trees. This study described differences in electrical conductivity values in soil with increasing distance from the road. Leaf sodium contents in roadside trees have been determined to assess the uptake of this element by plants. Soil samples for EC (electrical conductivity) determination were collected in the spring and autumn 2009 and 2010 from the roadside environment every 1m started at 2m to 11m from the road edge, and every year at the same place. Leaf sample for sodium content were collected in the end of August 2009 and 2010 from Acer platanoides, Acer pseudoplatanus, Tilia cordata and Fraxinus excelsior, every year at the same trees. For comparison, samples of the leaves were also collected from trees grown in the park in Skierniewice, were no salting during the winters is provided. The composition of roadside salinity varies, mostly according to the roads, but generally, at the studied roads, the EC of the soil solution followed an exponential-like decrease with distance from the road curb, reaching background levels at 7 to 10mdistance. The exponential-like EC decrease seems to be strongly slowed at 5mdistance from the road curb. Very important information is that the level of EC in the upper layer of the soil during the season decreases rapidly. Trees grown on the roadside accumulated considerable amount of sodium ions in their leaves helping to neutralize the excess of sodium in soil. However, this had negative effect on their growth. Acer platanoides and Tilia corada uptake the greatest amount of sodium ions in comparison to the same species grown in the park. Less amount of sodium ion were noted in the leaf sample of Acer peseudoplatanus and Fraxinus excelsior. Soil salinity near the studied roads had any visual effect on the trees.
