Opis:
The Poisson-Modification of Quasi Lindley (PMQL) distribution is a newly introduced mixed Poisson distribution for over-dispersed count data. The aim of this article is to introduce the Zero-modified PMQL (ZMPMQL) distribution as an alternative to the PMQL distribution in order to accommodate zero inflation/deflation. The method of obtaining the ZMPMQL distribution jointly with some of its important properties, namely the probability mass and distribution functions, mean, variance, index of dispersion, and quantile function are presented. Furthermore, some of its special cases are discussed. The maximum likelihood (ML) estimation method is used for the unknown parameter estimation. A simulation study is conducted in order to evaluate the asymptotic theory of the ML estimation method and to show the superiority of the ML method over the method of moments estimation. The applicability of the introduced distribution is illustrated by using a real-world data set.

The influence of higher order fiber dispersions (like chromatic dispersion and dispersion slope) on the optical millimeter-wave generation is studied. Optical sideband suppression ratio and radio frequency spurious suppression ratio are given and discussed. Moreover, the mathematical results of the proposed model are verified by experiments and numerical simulations.

Opis:
A 100 km long dense wavelength division multiplexed optical network design with a capacity of 1.28 Tbps is proposed in this paper. The novelty of this work is the use of a dispersion compensating fibre as a Raman amplifier in the S-band for a high-capacity dense wavelength division multiplexing network. The transmission is accomplished auspiciously in the wavelength range from 196 THz to 202. 35THz. The coupling of a Raman amplifier made the realisation of the S-band possible in the network, as the erbium-doped fibre amplifier is competent for amplification in C- and L-bands only. Further, a pump coupler is used for multiple pumping to enlarge the gain spectrum for a high-capacity optical network. The performance analysis of the network is carried out systematically in terms of bit error rate (BER), eye diagram, Q-factor, and optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR). The results demonstrate that the proposed set-up shows adequately low BER, sufficient Q-factor values, wide eye-opening, and commendable OSNR for all receiving channels.

The problem considered in this paper is the derivation of properties of edge waves travelling along a submerged horizontal shelf. The problem is formulated within the framework of the linearized theory of water waves and Havelock expansions of water wave potentials are used in the mathematical analysis to obtain the dispersion relation for edge waves in terms of an integral. Appropriate multi-term Galerkin approximations involving ultra spherical Gegenbauer polynomials are utilized to obtain a very accurate numerical estimate for the integral and hence to derive the properties of edge waves over a shelf. The numerical results are illustrated in a table and curves are presented showing the variation of frequency of the edge waves with the width of the shelf.

Statistical examination of the aerosols loading over Kano – Nigeria: the Satellite observation analysis. The problem of underestimating or overestimating the aerosols loading over Kano is readily becoming a global challenge. Recent health outcomes from an extensive effect of aerosols pollution has started manifesting in Kano. The aim of the research is to estimate the aerosols loading and retention over Kano. Thirteen years aerosol optical depth (AOD) data was obtained from the Multi-angle imaging spectroradiometer (MISR). Statistical tools, as well as analytically derived model for aerosols loading were used to obtain the aerosols retention and loading over the area. It was discovered that the average aerosols retention over Kano is 4.9%. The atmospheric constants over Kano were documented. Due to the volume of aerosols over Kano, it is necessary to change the ITU model which relates to signal budgeting.

Opis:
The processes of admixture diffusion in a two-phase stratified semispace with random disposition of syblayers are studied by the approach where internal random nonhomogeneities are considered as inner sources and the solution is found in the form of a Neumann series. The diffusion equations are formulated for one-connected regions of each phase and non-ideal contact conditions for the concentration on interphases are imposed. By the theory of generalized functions the contact problem is reduced to the equation of mass transfer in the whole body, which operator includes explicitly jump discontinuities of the concentration function and its derivatives. The obtained initial-boundary value problem of mass transfer is reduced to the equivalent integro-differentual equation. The solution is constructed in the form of a Neumann series and averaged over the ensemble of phase configurations with Erlangian and exponential distributions of inclusions. Dispersion and the two-point correlation function of the concentration field for diffusion are determined taking into account the probable distribution of inclusions, pair interaction of sublayers and the function of phase correlation. The dependence of the behavior of the averaged admixture concentration, field dispersion and the correlation function in the semispace with Erlangian and exponential distributions of inclusions on different medium characteristics is investigated and established.

Opis:
The present study aims to investigate Rayleigh wave propagation in an isotropic sandy layer overlying an isotropic sandy semi-infinite medium, with interface considered to be imperfect (slide contact and dislocation like model). Expressions for displacement components are obtained using the variable separation method. The dispersion frequency equation for the Rayleigh wave propagating in sandy media is derived using suitable boundary conditions. Particular cases, such as when the interface is in smooth contact and when sandy media are replaced by elastic media, are also discussed. Using MATLAB software, the effects of the imperfectness parameter (slide contact and dislocation like model) and sandy parameter on the Rayleigh waves’ phase velocity are investigated and compared with the already obtained results of the dislocation like model. The present study may find useful applications in geophysics, civil engineering and soil mechanics.
