Ogłoszono, że starcie ideologii zakończyło się triumfem liberalizmu, pojawiały się zapowiedzi „końca historii” oraz świata bez wojen i konfliktów. Te założenia, sformułowane po upadku systemu dwublokowego upadły jednak tak szybko, jak powstały. W niniejszym artykule poruszono tematykę konfliktów zbrojnych. Przeanalizowano ich ewolucję oraz teorie i podejścia badawcze do tego zagadnienia.
    The end of the Cold War gave hope for a new world order and an era of „peace dividend”. It was announced that the clash of ideologies had ended in the triumph of liberalism, and there were predictions of „the end of history” and a world without wars and conflicts. However, these assumptions, formulated after the collapse of the block system, collapsed as quickly as they arose. This article deals with the subject of armed conflicts. Their evolution and theories as well as research approaches to the issue are analyzed.

    The end of the twentieth century wars initiated a paradigm shift. Conflicts that emerged at the end of the last century and developed in the early 21st century revealed new aspects of the armed struggle. The classic perception of war has been blurred. In place of the bipolar symmetry appeared asymmetric threats. The former state monopoly on the use of force was lost. Some new members of armed conflict appeared, traditional battlefield setting disappeared and progressive imbalance between the parties for the disposition of potential violence leads to inequality and instability in the world. Asymmetry became a main factor in determining the image of modern warfare.

    The aim of the article is to find the answer to the following question: how does literary fiction in German literature present the character of a war reporter who reports on new wars? The article presents an analysis of perception and medium/transfer of war and terror by war reporters. In this article, the scheme of war incidents (events) is presented– transmission, in which there is no place for feelings, emotions, kindliness, humanity, but only the wish to survive, will to fight, victory and financial benefits really matter. One of the main assumptions of this article is an attempt to make the recipient realize that what individuals should do is analyse the information obtained from mass media in their own specific way. The topic of the article is very comprehensive and often raised, because it concerns the present and the future, and war has accompanied, accompanies and will accompany man at every stage of their life. The purpose of the article will also be to present the image of New Wars and terror from the perspective of the reporter and the influence of mass media on the work of the war correspondent, who seeks to blur the fragile border between truth and lies, reality and fiction in relation to German literature. It also important to present the profile of a war reporter in literature, also the specificity of the work of a war correspondent, as well as the impact of technological development on practicing the profession and linking collected facts with the events that have been recorded in the pages of history.

    The article aims to present the issue of ‘old’ versus ‘new’ wars in relation to their specific features. It focuses on the characteristics of both phenomena, as well as providing an analysis of the causes and sources of armed conflicts and their changing dimensions. Methods of waging war have changed along with the political, economic, social and technological developments which have been observed over the years. The very philosophy of war has undergone changes in a similar way. The article aims to identify the direction of changes in the dimensions of war. It also provides an insight into the privatization of warfare and the constantly growing importance of non-state actors in shaping the international order, and therefore their role in post-modern wars.

    The main aim is to present the historical and political conditions of NATO’s attack on Yugoslavia and to show the consequences of this operation, the main effect of which was the creation of the so-called the independent state of Kosovo, which is essentially an unstable controversial territory, constituting the basis for the development of organized crime and other asymmetrical threats. The air operation codenamed „Allied Force” began a new chapter in the history of the Alliance, which for the first time undertook military action without the mandate of the UN Security Council, thus creating a dangerous precedent for the future. The Serbs were forced to leave Kosovo under the supervision of the UN as a result of this operation. However, it is hard to talk about the defeat of the Serbs, because the army was not defeated, and the soldiers did not give up and could fight further. Their involvement could, however, lead to the total economic extermination of the country by the coalition of NATO states, which proved that it has no scruples in destroying civilian (also economic) purposes. The author emphasizes that the developed structures of organized crime and corruption of the so-called Kosovo states do not give hope for positive forecasting in the development of its statehood.
    Głównym celem jest przedstawienie uwarunkowań historycznych i politycznych ataku NATO na Jugosławię oraz ukazanie konsekwencji tej operacji, której głównym efektem było powstanie tzw. niezależnego państwa Kosowa, będącego w istocie niestabilnym terytorium spornym, stanowiącym bazę dla rozwoju przestępczości zorganizowanej i innych zagrożeń asymetrycznych. Operacja powietrzna o kryptonimie „Allied Force” rozpoczęła nowy rozdział w historii Sojuszu, który po raz pierwszy podjął działania zbrojne bez mandatu Rady Bezpieczeństwa ONZ, stwarzając tym samym niebezpieczny precedens na przyszłość. Serbowie w wyniku tej operacji zostali zmuszeni do pozostawienia Kosowa pod nadzorem ONZ. Trudno jednak mówić o porażce Serbów, bowiem armia nie została pokonana, a żołnierze nie poddali się i mogli walczyć dalej. Ich zaangażowanie mogłyby jednak doprowadzić do całkowitego wyniszczenia ekonomicznego państwa przez koalicję państw NATO, która udowodniła, że nie ma skrupułów w niszczeniu celów cywilnych (także gospodarczych). Autorka podkreśla, że rozwinięte struktury przestępczości zorganizowanej i korupcja przywódców tzw. państwa kosowskiego nie stwarzają nadziei na pozytywne prognozowanie w zakresie rozwoju jego państwowości

    This research explores the transition towards the modern era from the brutal scenario of World Wars I &II. Different kind of fiction was produced in this context and every writer has tried his/her level best to present that dilemma in his/her own way. It presents a clear picture that which sort of elements were there to bring that specific change and transition towards the modern era in 20th century. It has brought the ur-ban settlements and rapid growth in the industrial deeds. During that specific time, fascism, consumer culture, surveillance, anti- intellectualism, media influence communism and totalitarianism were on the peak. All these factors lead the writers to create dystopian fiction and it formed a striking literary movement. This research is limited to the three dystopian novels of 20th century including Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, Lord of the Flies by William Golding and 1984 by George Orwell. This research is qualitative in nature, Marxist, Althusserian and Freudian theories support this research as a primary theoretical framework. This research is helpful to know about the Pre and Post World Wars scenario and to know about the socio-political scenario of the present day world.

    Opis:
    The book My Father’s Wars by Alisse Waterston is a structural expression of the need for a new anthropological orientation in history. Waterston chooses to gradually weave the narrative through the methodological directions of intimate ethnography. More precisely, it is a story about the importance of the relationship between micro-history and the fluidity of historical particularisms, between the relations of matrixes of power and reflections on anthropocultural systems of the higher kind. It is here that the value of the complex focalization point in the work is accommodated; it lies in the question in what grammatical person to tell an individual story (which at the same time leaves a strong seal the identity of the descendants) embedded in Jewish cultural history as part of the larger history of war(s) and migration trajectories in the 20th century.
    Książka My Father’s wars [Wojny mojego ojca] autorstwa Alisse Waterston jest wyrazem potrzeby nowej orientacji antropologicznej w historii. Waterston decyduje się na stopniowe splatanie narracji, wykorzystując metodologiczne kierunki etnografii intymnej. А dokładniej, jest to opowieść o znaczeniu związku pomiędzy mikrohistorią a płynnością historycznych partykularyzmów, między centrami władzy i refleksją zawartą w systemach antropologicznych wyższego rzędu. Właśnie na tej sferze jest skoncentrowany cel tej książki; zawarty jest w pytaniu, w jakiej kategorii gramatycznej opowiedzieć indywidualną historię (jednocześnie naznaczoną przez tożsamość potomków), osadzoną w żydowskiej historii kultury jako części szerszej historii wojny (wojen) i trajektorii migracyjnych w XX wieku.

    The article is devoted to the issue of the impact of the new media on the mass culture. Authors have explored community portals using modern methods of quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The results show that belief in the more democratic, egalitarian character of the new media compared to the traditional corporate model of the mass-media industry may be a delusion as large mass media corporations have also had a great impact on the functioning of social networking sites.

    Artykuł prezentuje narzędzia i metody do badania nowych mediów. Autor opisuje programy stworzone przez nowy nurt w nauce zwany humanistyką cyfrową. Główną tezą jest stwierdzenie, że największym problemem współczesnego medioznawstwa jest badanie wielkich kolekcji danych – czyli big data. W artykule przedstawione nowe sposoby badania filmów na przykładzie analizy Gwiezdnych wojen. Główną metodą interpretacji i prezentacji wyników badań była wizualizacja.
    The article presents the tools and methods for the study of new media. The author describes the programs created by the new trend in science called digital humanities. The main thesis is that the biggest problem of the contemporary media studies is the study of the great collection of data – which is the big date. In the article presented new ways to study films on the example of analysis of Star Wars. The main method of interpretation and presentation of research results was the visualization.
