This paper presents information on the methods of construction and selection of materials, for the manufacturing of a medical device – a syringe filter. The main scope of the research was numerical simulation made in order to optimize the injection process. This simulation comprised of two parts: the first in which the chosen optimal number and position of injection points on the surface, and a second with the chosen optimum wall thickness, using a pre-selected injection points.

The aim of study is to assess the technology review of plastic mold parts and to propose the modification of its production. Analyzes were performed by simulation program Moldflow Plastic Advisor (MPA) and two alternative constructional solutions were proposed. Results of the simulation are technologically optimized mold parts and technological parameters for its production.
Celem badań jest przeprowadzenie oceny przebiegu różnych sposobów otrzymywania wtryskiwanych wyprasek z tworzyw polimerowych i zaproponowanie technologii ich produkcji. Zostały przeprowadzone analizy komputerowe dwóch alternatywnych rozwiązań konstrukcyjnych wypraski za pomocą programu do symulacji Moldflow Plastic Advisor (MPA). Otrzymane wyniki symulacji optymalizują technologiczność konstrukcji wyprasek, jak i parametry technologiczne ich wytwarzania.

In this paper, we construct infinite families of tight regular tournaments. In particular, we prove that two classes of regular tournaments, tame molds and ample tournaments are tight. We exhibit an infinite family of 3-dichromatic tight tournaments. With this family we positively answer to one case of a conjecture posed by V. Neumann-Lara. Finally, we show that any tournament with a tight mold is also tight.

This is a study of the effects of temperature of injection mold on the injection molded article. By supplying water of the proper temperature in the cooling line of mold in the cooling process, the mold was the appropriate temperature, and the deformation of the injection molded article was examined according to the mold temperature. In this study, we conducted simulation analysis and experiments, and the results were analyzed. The minimum deformation of the injection molded article model obtained by supplying 50°C water in the cooling line is 0.003 mm, and the maximum deformation was 0.813 mm. Injection molded article models obtained by supplying 20°C water were found to be a minimum of 0.002 mm, with deformation of up to 0.761 mm. When comparing both conditions, the error rate of injection molded article obtained by supplying 20°C water in the mold cooling line was lower by about 0.18%.

Opis:
Production of defect free castings requires good understanding of casting characteristics like mold filling ability and volume deficit characteristic. Pin test piece with cylindrical cores proposed by Engler and Ellerbrok was used to study the mold filling ability. Volume deficit characteristics experiments were conducted using the method designed by Engler. Alloy composition, Mold coat and Pouring temperature were considered as process parameters for the present study and experimental plan has been taken up through design of experiments. The alloy composition is most significant in influencing the mold filling ability, where as pouring temperature is for volume deficit. The Correlation Co-efficient value obtained is -0.98901 indicating strong a negative relation between mold filling ability and volume deficit characteristics. Negative values indicate a relationship between mold filling ability and volume deficit such that as values for mold filling ability increase, for volume deficit decrease.

Opis:
The solidification process involving small periodical perturbations due to the system of mold delaminations is considered. Imperfections at the mold wall are modelled by non-ideal thermal contact conditions. It leads to the small perturbation in the solid-liquid interface and in the temperature distribution in the solid phase. With the help of approximate technique, known as the heat-balance integral method, the problem is reduced to the sequence of ordinary differential equations in amplitudes of the Fourier series of the solidification front. The shape of solid-liquid interfaces is shown.
W pracy rozpatruje się zagadnienie dwuwymiarowego niestacjonarnego przepływu ciepła w półprzestrzeni ze zmianami fazowymi. Uwzględniono zaburzenia przestrzenne wywołane delaminacjami pomiędzy falą stałą a ścianką formy. Imperfekcje mają rozkład periodyczny i powodują małe periodyczne zaburzenia zarówno w polu temperatury jak i w ruchomej powierzchni rozgraniczającej fazy stałą i ciekłą. W oparciu o przybliżoną metodę znaną jako metodę całek bilansu ciepła, zagadnienie nie sprowadza się do ciągu równań różniczkowych zwyczajnych dla makro-grubości krzepnącej warstwy oraz amplitud zaburzeń frontu krzepnięcia. Rozwiązania analityczne otrzymano pominąwszy kwadraty pewnych małych wielkości. Na wykresach przedstawiono zmiany zaburzeń w czasie dla różnych wartości wyjściowych parametrow.

Electromagnetic stirrer generates swirling fluid flow, boosts the mixing of molten steel near the solidification front and enhances the quality of the continuously cast products. In the present investigation, attention is paid towards studying the effect of in-mold electromagnetic stirring on fluid flow and solidification. A three-dimensional coupled mathematical model of solidification and magnetohydrodynamics has been established for billet caster mold. The alternating magnetic field is applied to the solidification model where fluid flow, heat transfer, and electromagnetic equations are solved simultaneously. It has been found that an increase in field frequency decreases the length of stirring and the liquid fraction of the steel at the center of the mold exit. Tangential velocity near the solidification front increases with the magnetic field frequency or flux density, due to which, a break in solidified shell near stirrer position is predicted whose width increases accordingly.

An assessment of susceptibility of bacterial cellulose films to fouling by mold fungi. The article presents the results of research on the degree of fouling of films made of bacterial cellulose by selected mold fungi. The degree of fouling of the cellulose film was compared with the degree of fouling of pine wood samples. On the basis of the obtained results, it was found that the cellulose film is covered by mold fungi. At the same time, it was found that T. viride grows on wood much faster than bacterial cellulose.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań stopnia porastania folii wytworzonych z celulozy bakteryjnej przez wybrane grzyby pleśniowe. Stopień porastania folii celulozowej porównano ze stopniem porastania próbek drewna sosny. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników stwierdzono, że folia celulozowa ulega porastaniu przez grzyby pleśniowe. Jednocześnie ustalono, że grzyb T. viride znacznie szybciej porasta drewno niż celulozę bakteryjną.

The objective of the study was to present the results of research on the thermoforming process using a patented, original male mold vibrating with the adequate frequency during the stretching of a polystyrene sheet. The research included determining the influence pertaining to the frequency of the mold vibration as well as other selected conditions of the thermoforming process, such as the temperature of the heater and heating time on the irregularity of the wall thickness of the formed product. The research was conducted using the DOE methods – central composite design. The thermoforming process was conducted using the vacuum stretching method with initial forming by high-pressure air. The analysis of the results obtained showed that the frequency of mold vibration has a significant statistic influence on the thickness of the walls of a finished product, both in the area of their bottom as well as the bottom’s edge. The thickness of the product wall on these areas is also significantly influenced by the other above-mentioned factors. No interaction, however, was detected between those and the frequency of the mold vibration. Using the vibrating mold in the presented process proved favourable, since the walls of the obtained finished products showed lesser irregularity in terms of the wall thickness than the products manufactured using a fixed mold.

The European Commission's ambitious plan to reduce CO2 emissions has a significant impact on the global automotive industry. Recent development of new diesel and petrol engines with direct injection is aimed at improving fuel efficiency while maintaining (or enhancing) engine performance. This naturally also increases the demands on the properties of the most stressed engine components (e.g., cylinder heads, engine blocks, pistons), which leads to the development of new materials. Presented work analysed the effect of different mold temperatures (60; 120; 180 °C) on mechanical, physical properties and microstructure of AlSi5Cu2Mg aluminium alloy. This alloy is currently being used for the production of cylinder head castings. The results showed that the changing mold temperature had an effect on mechanical properties (ultimate tensile strength and Young modulus values). SEM with EDX analysis of intermetallic phases revealed there were no size and morphology changes of Cu, Mg and Fe intermetallic phases when the mold temperature changed. No significant effect of different mold temperature on physical properties (thermal and electrical conductivity) and fracture mechanism occurred during experiment. Optimal combination of mechanical and physical properties of AlSi5Cu2Mg alloy was achieved using a permanent mold with temperature ranging from 120 to 180 °C.

This paper presents the rotational molding process. The general principles of this polymer processing technology have been described. The main applications have been introduced and leading advantages and typical disadvantages of rotational molding process have been discussed. Based on the conducted experimental tests, the influ¬ence of changing one selected technological parameter, which characterized rotational molding process, on selected geometrical features of the polymer cast has been deter¬mined. Rotational mold’s speed around axes was changed and a thickness of cast walls has been measured. Laboratory test stand, processing properties of polymer, also test program and experimental test methodology have been described.

The presented contribution points out the possibilities of solving the inlet system, as one of the important factors influencing the final quality of the castings. Due to its design and function, the sprue system influences the process of filling the mold cavity. With the correct design of the sprue system, we achieve the continuity of filling the mold cavity and the elimination of qualitative and quantitative errors caused by non-observance of basic principles in the design of sprue systems. When conducting the experiments, we monitored the mold inlet system, modeling the process of filling the mold cavity and the speed of the liquid metal in the notch and the mold cavity. The results of the experiments show that the speed of the liquid metal when filling the mold is approximately half of the calculated theoretical value.

Towards the end of June of 1997 a massive outbreak of blue mold caused by Peronospora tabacina on the experiment plots of the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation gave an opportunity to observe and record the response to that disease of 192 different N. tabacum genotypes held at the institute’s tobacco germplasm collection. Both the date of the onset of the first symptoms and the intensity of the symptoms varied. Symptoms were from very severe (e. g. Virgin Mutant A, Burley White) to severe, moderate, mild and none. Less than 10% of the accessions scored for blue mold were symptom-free. They belonged to the flue-cured type (15 out of 71) and dark air-cured (5 out of 49). All the remaining entries including orientals and semi-orientals, burleys and cigar tobaccos were affected to some extent. Except the very susceptible Virgin A Mutant systemic symptoms were rare probably because the fungus attacked relatively late in the season when the majority of accessions had already grown out of the most vulnerable stage and were at either budding or flowering.

Effect of the essential oils addition on the rate of bacterial cellulose surface overgrowth by mold fungi. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of protecting films made of bacterial cellulose with essential oils against overgrowth by mold fungi. The cellulose film produced by microorganisms forming a pellicle called SCOBY was modified by introducing into the cellulose pulp essential oils: cinnamon and manuka. Samples of the protected film were treated with mold fungi: Chaetomium globosum, Aspergillus niger and Trichoderma viride. On the basis of the tests conducted, the rate of film overgrowth by mold fungi and the effectiveness criteria of cellulose film protection with essential oils were determined. The addition of cinnamon oil protected the film against the growth of Aspergillus niger and Chaetomium globosum fungi. Manuka oil slowed down the growth of Chaetomium globosum microorganisms on the surface of the bacterial cellulose film sample, but did not protect the samples from overgrowth. The essential oils tested were ineffective against the fungus Trichoderma viride.
Wpływ dodatku olejków eterycznych na stopień porastania powierzchni celulozy bakteryjnej przez grzyby pleśnie. Przedmiotem badań było ustalenie skuteczności zabezpieczenia folii wytworzonej z celulozy bakteryjnej olejkami eterycznymi przed porastaniem grzybami pleśniowymi. Folia celulozowa, wytworzona przez mikroorganizmy tworzące konsorcjum zwane SCOBY została poddana modyfikacji poprzez wprowadzenie do pulpy celulozowej olejków eterycznych: cynamonowego i z manuka. Próbki zabezpieczonej folii zostały poddane działaniu grzybów pleśniowych: Chaetomium globosum, Aspergillus niger i Trichoderma viride. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań określono stopień oceny porastania folii przez grzyby pleśniowe i kryteria skuteczności zabezpieczenia folii celulozowej olejkami eterycznymi. Dodatek olejku cynamonowego zabezpieczył folię przed rozwojem grzybów Aspergillus niger i Chaetomium globosum. Olejek manuka spowolnił rozwój mikroorganizmów Chaetomium globosum na powierzchni próbki folii celulozy bakteryjnej, ale nie zabezpieczył próbek przez porastaniem. Badane olejki eteryczne okazały się nieskuteczne wobec grzyba Trichoderma viride.

Engineering neo-biomimetics, i.e. imitation models based on body structures and behavior of living organisms, relied upon to solve complex problems, have been studied in various fields. In distributed networks, such as ad-hoc networks and wireless sensor networks, the behavior of a variety of true slime molds which are capable of constructing multipath flow networks based on the amount of body, has been studied. Ad hoc networks only consist of mobile terminals (nodes) that can relay packets along an established route. However, link relations and the available bandwidth of the nodes change dynamically due to the mobility of nodes. In addition, the speed of communication between nodes also varies due to node positions and their communication-related quality. Thus, practical use of ad-hoc networks still remains an issue, because it is difficult to establish stable routes under such environments. This study aims to propose an adaptive load balancing routing technique that adaptively diversifies the transmission paths based on the available bandwidth, residual battery life, and the data transmission volume, by applying a mathematical model of slime mold routing, known as the physarum solver. We confirm the effectiveness of its adaptive behavior in dynamic environments using computer simulations.
