    This article attempts to analyze the problems arising at the junction of two social institutions: the army and military families. It shows, in the face of the transformations taking place in the area of family life and in the face of professionalization of the Polish Armed Forces, how complex relationships between these two worlds are created. The article raises the issue of dual loyalty and „greed” of these institutions. A feature that modern family and the army share is the fact that each of these institutions would like to focus the attention and energy of its members and involve them in their actions as much as possible, which would secure their operations. Such a demanding attitude, however, has a negative impact on the performance of social roles outside the institution. The empirical analyses on the topic conclude with the condition and problems of modern military family. They also show how the duties and requirements for the profession of a soldier affect the organization, structure and functions of the family, the course and the rhythm of their life, homely atmosphere, the content and scope of the role played, the manner of satisfying their needs and the lever of the satisfaction. This text is a contribution to further research of the presented issue.

    Going on a mission undoubtedly constitutes a real threat to the stability of a military family. The fact of being temporarily separated, together with all the related emotional problems, seem to cause a number of dysfunctions in the partners’ relations. The departure of the spouse for a mission is an important social phenomenon which creates a new situation in which the widely acknowledged patterns of family behavior do not guarantee the fulfillment of the family’s needs. Hence, there is a necessity to renegotiate family roles and their scope. In the families of soldiers who go on a mission it is the wife who takes over all the duties and the responsibility for the family’s general wellbeing. They have to face the dull reality: paying the bills, making renovations and bringing up children. When back home, the soldiers take over the man’s responsibilities. From one moment to the next, they have to became fathers, husbands and the heads of their families again. Unfortunately, it is difficult for both spouses to cope with such a situation.

    Opis:
    Stowarzyszenie „Rodzina Wojskowa” zostało powołane jako organizacja społeczna, której zadaniem miała być samopomoc ekonomiczna oraz różne formy aktywności związane z kulturą fizyczną w środowisku wojskowym, obejmujące oficerów, a później i podoficerów Wojska Polskiego. Przez cały okres działalności największą wagę przywiązywano do otoczenia opieką dzieci i młodzieży szkolnej, także ze środowisk cywilnych, poprzez organizowanie kolonii, półkolonii i, w mniejszym wymiarze, obozów, najczęściej związanych z przysposobieniem wojskowym. Duże osiągnięcia Stowarzyszenie zanotowało w dziedzinie ochrony zdrowotnej dzieci i młodzieży, przez organizowanie kolonii leczniczych w miejscowościach uzdrowiskowych, przede wszystkim Ciechocinku i Rabce, gdzie z możliwości leczenia skorzystało ponad dwa tysiące osób. Dopełnieniem działalności na polu kultury fizycznej było krzewienie krajoznawstwa i turystyki wędrownej, co w praktyce przejawiało się w organizowaniu wycieczek krajoznawczych, obejmujących swoim zasięgiem nie tylko miejsce zamieszkania i najbliższe okolice, ale i cały kraj, a w mniejszym wymiarze –także wycieczek zagranicznych.
    The ‘Military Family’ Association was established as a social organisation predominantly aiming at ensuring economic support and to promote various forms of physical culture in the military milieu, including officers, and later also non-commissioned officers of the Polish ‘army. Through the entire period of its activity, it focused on taking care of kids and school children, as well as civilians by organising holiday camps, semi-camps, and – to a smaller extent – military training camps. The Association had major achievements in the field of children’s healthcare by organising therapeutic camps in health resorts, mostly in Ciechocinek and Rabka, attended by well over 2000 individuals. Complementary initiatives in the field of physical culture included the propagation of sightseeing and hiking tourism, i.e. the organisation of sightseeing tours of not only the place of residence and its immediate vicinity, but of the entire country, or – to a smaller extent – also foreign trips.

    In an Old Polish period a family house had a very significant role in education and military preparation. Due to lack of military schools it was the only source of patriotic and military education. The atmosphere of constant thread evoked by ceasless wars caused that the youth was prepared to defence and military service sińce the earliest years. Patriotic and defensive education was supervised by father and appointed tutors. It was shaped also by the traditios of the noble house, interior decoration and fumishings, as well as specially prepared and selected military playthings and games. A father was a first person who introduced a son into the depths of military art.

    The article describes the history of Polish line of the Livonian family Toedwens (Tödwen). The ancestor of the part of the family who settled in Poland, in Podlasie was Dorpat chamberlain Jan Henryk. In the seventeenth century for dozens of years he served in the infantry and later in dragoons during the Cossack, Swedish, Turkish and Moscow wars. Moreover, his career included an episode of the service for the Habsburgs in the 80s of the seventeenth century. Jan Henryk reached the rank of general. Toedwens who lived in the eighteenth century did not evince particular activity as regards the military field. It was not until the next century when the significant number of members of this family served in the Polish army, the day of the Duchy of Warsaw, the Polish Kingdom, November Uprising and the Crimean War. The members of the light cavalry are particularly famous – cousins Tadeusz and Wincenty, participants of Somosierra charge.
    В статье описывается история польской линии ливонского рода Тедвен. Родоначальником ветви, осевшей в Польше, в Подляском воеводстве, был под коморий дерптский Ян Генрих. В XVII в. на протяжении нескольких десятилетий он служил в пехоте, затем драгуном, во время Казацкой, Шведской, Московской и Турецкой войн. В его карьере был также период службы у Габсбургов в 80-е гг. XVII в. Ян Генрих дослужился до звания генерала. Тедвены, жившие в XVIII в., не проявляли активности в военном деле. Лишь в следующем столетии появилось немало представителей этого рода, служивших в польской армии периода Польского княжества, Польского Царствa, восстания 1830-1831 гг. и Крымской войны. Наиболее известны шеволежеры – двоюродные братья Тадеуш и Винцент, участники атаки при Сомосьерре.

    The history of major Alexander Iwanski is associated with Tarnow and its neighbourhood for almost 150 years. First documented sign of his family, left in the birth certificate books, occurred in the Matrimony Register in 1805 and it was connected with Jan Kanty Iwanski and Franciszka Loszowska's wedding. The oldest son of this marriage Jan Kanty Junior and the grandson Franciszek Ksawery were on duty for many years as forest rangers. The first of them was a ranger in Jastrzabka Nowa near Zasow and the second one in Leki Gorne below Tarnow. Alexander Iwanski was born in 1892 in Dabie (near Mielec). His parents were Jan Tadeusz (the son of Franciszek Iwanski) a teacher in Tarnow and Rozalia from the Jaklinski family. After graduating from the Junior High School in Tarnow and beginning legal studies at Jagiellonian University in Cracow in 1914, Alexander Iwanski was conscripted to Austrian army. He served military service in the 56th Austrian infantry regiment fighting on a Russian, Romanian and Italian front. He also trained the soldiers in a reserve reeve in Kielce. Alexander Iwanski took part in gorlicka campaign in which the 56th Austrian infantry regiment fought for the Pustka Hill. At the end of May 1915, near Krakowiec, Alexander was seriously hurt in head and stayed in hospital in Vienna. For his military service and bravery he was honoured with Austrian distinctions: the Great Silver Bravery Order of the First Class and the Charles Military Cross. In 1918 he was on the Italian front as an officer and took part in the creation of the 12th Infantry Regiment of Wadowice. After returning with his army to Wadowice he was appointed to be the first aide-de-camp in the headquarters district Wadowice. After marrying Zofia Waligorska – the daughter of Franciszek Waligorski (retired post office cashier) his later duty was connected with the commissary. Zofia and Alexander Iwanscy had four children: Krystyna, Adam, Danuta and Andrzej. In the years 1919-1939 Alexander Iwanski took active part in the military service of the Officers Corps Commissary in Brzesc by the river Bug, in Grodno, Lodz, Warsaw, Bialystok, Katowice and Kielce. He had directional functions in all of the commissary divisions. After finishing the Commissary High School in 1925 in Warsaw, he had the military service in Lwow for six years. His brother Franciszek often visited him at that time. Franciszek was a pilot-observant and served in the 6th air regiment in Sknilowo near Lwow. For the last four years before the World War II Alexander Iwanski was the Director of the Receiving Group with the degree of the Major Commissary. His family spent a lot of months and sometimes even years with his grandparents Waligorscy in Wadowice. In 1937 the Iwanski family moved to Wadowice forever and their children Danuta and Adam continued learning in the local schools. After the broke out of the World War II and the evacuation to the West, major Alexander Iwanski served military service in France and in England (Scotland). In 1946 he returned home to his family. He died on 11th June 1965 in Krosno.

    Nikephoros Bryennios the Younger has a place in the history of Byzantium as the author of one of the works devoted to the Komnenos family coming to power. This outstanding observer and talented leader, who was fascinated by the person of his father-in-law Alexius I Komnenos, came from a family whose ambitions were no less than the those in the one into which Nikephoros himself married. His father and grandfather, also his namesake, were those who dreamed of an imperial crown for themselves and tried to reach for it armed. Apart from defeat, they both faced punishment which was blinding. One of those who captured and ordered the father of Nikephoros the Younger to be blinded was his future father-in-law. Like the later marriage with Anna Komnene, this had an impact on the respect he had for the new dynasty. However, the question is whether this respect should be explained by the man’s reluctance to participate in a plot against his brother-in-law that his ambitious wife and her mother planned.

    Tło: Od około dwudziestu lat Polki mają możliwość dostępu do służby wojskowej w pełnym wymiarze. Oznacza to, że mogą podobnie jak mężczyźni uczestniczyć w rozwoju kariery postrzeganej w kategoriach awansu na wyższe stanowisko/stopień wojskowy. Z drugiej jednak strony nie ulega wątpliwości, że wojsko pozostaje typowo męską przestrzenią zawodową. Tym samym wymaga od kobiet wykraczania poza tradycyjnie rozumiany podział ról społecznych bądź – w przypadku zamężnych kobiet – umiejętnego ich łączenia. Cel: Celem artykułu jest przybliżenie specyfiki funkcjonowania kobiet na ścieżce wojskowej kariery zawodowej w perspektywie dylematów rodzinno-zawodowych. Szczególna uwaga zostanie zogniskowana wokół kategorii macierzyństwa. Metodyka: Niniejszy artykuł ma charakter przeglądowego. Autorka przywołuje dostępne w literaturze przedmiotu wyniki badań poświęconych tematyce kobiet w przestrzeni militarnej, w tym badania własne. Z uwagi na niewielką ich liczbę, w ramach uzupełnienia dokonuje też analizy tekstów internetowych – ściślej wywiadów prasowych z żołnierkami. Wnioski: Charakter trudności na linii służba wojskowa-rodzina, wskazuje na potrzebę regularnego monitorowania partycypacji kobiet w przestrzeni militarnej. Przytoczone badania wskazują, że proces równoważenia roli macierzyńskiej z rolą zawodową żołnierki jest złożony i zależy zarówno od czynników pozazawodowych (relacji z mężem, w tym podziału ról w rodzinie), jak i organizacyjnych. Te drugie wynikają ze specyfiki służby (wymogu mobilności i dyspozycyjności) oraz postaw przełożonych. Okazuje się, że dla części kobiet macierzyństwo staje się obiektem wykluczenia i stereotypizacji ze strony żołnierzy. Brakuje też instytucjonalnych (przynależnych wojsku) form opieki nad dziećmi. W wybranych przypadkach macierzyństwo samo w sobie uruchamia proces samowykluczania się z kariery na rzecz spełnienia się w roli matki.  
    Background: For about twenty years, Polish women have been able to access military service full-time. It means that they can, like men, participate in career development perceived in terms of promotion to a higher military position/rank. On the other hand, there is no doubt that the military remains a typically male professional space. Thus, it requires women to go beyond the traditionally understood division of social roles or - in the case of married women - to combine them skillfully. Objectives: The article aims to present the specificity of the functioning of women on the path of a professional military career from the perspective of family and professional dilemmas. Particular attention will be paid to the category of motherhood. Methodology: This article is an overview. The author mentions the research results on women in the military space available in the literature, including her research. Due to the small amount of research, as a supplement, the author also analyzes Internet sources - more specifically, press interviews with female soldiers. Conclusions: The nature of the difficulties between military service and family indicates the need for regular monitoring of women's participation in the military space. The cited studies indicate that balancing the maternal role with the professional role of a soldier is complex and depends both on non-professional factors (relations with the husband, including the divisions of roles in the family) and organizational ones. The latter results from the specificity of the service (the requirement of mobility and availability) and the attitudes of superiors. For some women, it turns out that motherhood becomes an object of exclusion and stereotyping on the part of soldiers. There is also a lack of institutional (belonging to the military) forms of childcare. In selected cases, motherhood itself triggers the process of self-exclusion from the career in favor of fulfilling the role of a mother.

    Jednym z niezbywalnych zadań państwa i jego struktur jest zapewnienie nienaruszalności terytorium oraz bezpieczeństwa zamieszkujących je obywateli. W otaczającym nas środowisku, na różnych poziomach życia, spotykamy się z zagrożeniami, które próbują zakłócić oraz zakłócają nasze gwarantowane prawo do spokojnego życia. Jednym z zagrożeń obecnego świata jest niewątpliwie przemoc domowa, która przez wiele lat w Polsce nazywana była zwyczajowo „awanturą domową” lub „kłótnią”. O zjawisku tym mówi się nieczęsto, a dowiadujemy się o nim głównie wtedy, gdy dochodzi do tragedii. W zakresie, trybie i na zasadach określonych w przepisach zadania przewidziane dla Policji wykonują w Siłach Zbrojnych Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej oraz w stosunku do żołnierzy Żandarmeria Wojskowa i wojskowe organy porządkowe. Żandarmeria Wojskowa uczestniczy w programach prewencyjnych, realizując czynności profilaktyczne w Siłach Zbrojnych RP, z zakresu przeciwdziałania m.in.: alkoholizmowi, narkomanii oraz środków psychoaktywnych, przemocy w środowisku pracy, bezpieczeństwa w sieci oraz korupcji. Po blisko sześciu latach, z dniem 1 lipca 2015 r., zwiększają się uprawnienia procesowe Żandarmerii Wojskowej, a tym samym przestępstwa popełnione również poza terenem jednostki (bez związku ze służbą) podlegać będą ŻW. Policja nie może być jedyną instytucją, na której barkach spoczywa ciężar przeciwdziałania przemocy w rodzinie, a zjawisko rozpoznawania i przeciwdziałania tej patologii w środowisku wojska – w tym procedura Niebieskiej Karty – musi znajdować się w jurysdykcji Żandarmerii Wojskowej.
    Ensuring inviolabilities of territory and the safety inhabiting them is one of inalienable tasks of you and his structures of citizens. In the environment surrounding us, on the different standards of living, we are encountering threats which they are trying out as well as are disrupting our guaranteed right to the calm life. Undoubtedly a home violence which for many years in Poland was called the „home row” according to custom is one of threats of current world or with „quarrel”. In the scope, mode and under the terms of separate laws and regulations are performing predicted tasks for Police in military forces of the Republic of Poland and towards soldiers the Military Police and military ordinal organs. The Military Police is participating in preventive programs, carrying preventive activities out in military forces the Republic of Poland, from the scope of the counteraction among others: for alcoholism, drug addicts and psychedelic centers, violence in the workplace, of the network security and the corruption. After nearly 6 years, on the day of 01 July 2015 procedural entitlements of the Military Police, and hence offences committed also outside premises of the unit will increase (disconnected with the service) will be subject to a Military Police. Police cannot be an only institution, on which bars a weight of the counteraction of the violence is sitting down in the family, and the phenomenon of recognizing and counteractions of these pathological changes in the environment of the army – including the procedure of the „Blue Card” – must be located in a territory of jurisdiction of the Military Police. With one of basic means of adapting the potential of the military police to planned changes of the procedural property designing statutory processes should constitute Military Police so that she is effective, must have full fan of tools for the detection and preventing of all signs the corruption of living in the family. In the presented article were directed attention to the need to adapt statutory documents to action predicted for the military police for the prevention of violence in the family.

    Przeprowadzone ostatnio badania w archiwach amerykańskich, rosyjskich, polskich i ukraińskich pozwoliły przesądzić datę i miejsce narodzin Ryszarda Bolesławskiego, reżysera o międzynarodowej sławie: 4 lutego 1889 r., Mohylów Podolski (obecnie Mogiliw na Ukrainie). Metryka wyjawia tylko jedno imię: Ryszard. Jego służba oficerska w armii carskiej podczas I wojny światowej trwała od października 1915 do maja 1917 r. Autor przywołuje w artykule nowe fakty o pierwszych pracach reżyserskich Bolesławskiego w Hollywood dla przedsiębiorstw filmowych Josepha P. Kennedy’ego i Glorii Swanson. Amerykańska żona Bolesławskiego Norma Drury oraz syn Jan Boleslawski pracowali w hollywoodzkich wytwórniach filmowych i telewizyjnych do lat 60. XX w. Autor postuluje dalsze prace nad spuścizną Bolesławskiego: przetłumaczenie na język polski jego nieznanej w Polsce powieści Lances Down: Between the Fires in Moscow oraz zaprojektowanie badań nad wykorzystaniem jego pism o sztuce aktorskiej w światowym szkolnictwie artystycznym.
    The paper reports on recent findings regarding the biography of Richard Boleslavsky, a director of world renown. Research done in American, Russian, Ukrainian and Polish archives finally determined the place of his birth (Mohylów Podolski, present-day Mogiliv Podil’skij in the Ukraine), the date (February 4, 1889), and his single given name: Ryszard. The research identified the actual timeframe of Boleslavsky’s military service during World War I: he served as a cavalry officer in the Russian Army from October 1915 until May 1917. The paper offers original insights into Boleslavsky’s first assignments in Hollywood, i.e. his directing work for Joseph P. Kennedy and Gloria Swanson. His American wife Norma Drury and their son Jan Boleslawski worked in Hollywood movie and TV industry until 1960s. Finally, the author propounds an in-depth study on the worldwide appreciation of Boleslavsky’s essential writings on the art of acting.

    The main intention of my paper is to show that the careful interpretation of inscriptions may help us in our understanding of certain historical situation usually treated only superficially by the classical (literary) sources. To achieve such an aim it is necessary to understand such testimonia not as isolated exempla but as parts of much broader historical tradition. I tried to achieve this by integrating the epigraphic sources from other parts of the empire (e.g. Asia Minor) in my study. As a first result we can say that the weakening of the imperial authority in not a local phenomenon of Roman Mauretania, but a phenomenon found in many other regions of the empire. Without the existence of strong local authorities that could act in the place of the emperors the whole empire might have collapsed. The emergence of separate empires (e.g. the imperium Galliarum of Postumus or the regnum Palmyrenorum) may be understood as another facette of this time.

    All around the world the armed forces observe negative impact of stress experienced by soldiers on their psychosocial functioning. If you create the system of aid to veterans and their families, you must take into account the needs. The empirical study conducted by Wojskowe Centrum Edukacji Obywatelskiej in 2013 has showed, that 31% soldiers returning from Afghanistan suffer from different symptoms of emotional disorder (it certainly is not neutral to the functioning of their families), 14% note worse relations with spouse(s)/partner, 14% note worse relations with children. The study has confirmed that the severity of these problems correlates with the degree of exposure to traumatic situations. You must note that some of the soldiers informed about the positive effects of soldiers’ deployment on their family relationships, spouse(s)/partner or children.

    In this edition we would like to present three enlistment letters (listy przypowiednie) issued by the Royal Chancellery to Marcin Zamoyski: for enlisting cossack (cavalry) banner (company) in 1656, taking command of foot regiment in 1679 and strengthening of the (winged) hussars banner in 1683. All three sources came from Zamoyskis’ Archive (Archiwum Zamoyskich), currently part of the Central Archives of Historical Records (Archiwum Główne Akt Dawnych) in Warsaw, from the archive no 463, containing correspondence between Polish kings and Marcin Zamoyski, 4th owner of Zamoyska’s fee tail (Ordynacja Zamoyska) and Grand Crown Under-treasurer (podskarbi wielki koronny) in the period 1685–1689. Next to the original letters we have added introduction with description of the mechanisms behind Marcin Zamoyski’s political-military career, with special emphasis on the aspect of keeping military units as the part of Crown standing army (komput koronny).
    Przedmiotem edycji źródłowej są 3 listy przypowiednie wystawione z kancelarii królewskiej Marcinowi Zamoyskiemu na zaciąg chorągwi kozackiej w 1656 r., na objęcie regimentu pieszego w 1679 r. oraz na powiększenie chorągwi husarskiej w 1683 r.     In many scientific studies, the soldier is treated as a socially isolated person; the researchers’ interest is mainly focused on the psychophysical health of representatives of this social group. The article, based on a literature review, analyses the emotional, health and social costs incurred by other members of military families both during and after the soldier’s operations abroad. The article looks at the functioning of military families. Sources of difficult situations that may arise in soldiers’ families are listed, and parental attitudes characteristic of such families are discussed.

    W zasobie Archiwum Państwowego w Warszawie, oprócz materiałów archiwalnych wytworzonych przez rozmaite urzędy warszawskie i wojewódzkie, instytucje wymiaru sprawiedliwości i szkoły, kryją się też niewielkie zbiory, będące pozostałościami po bardziej lub mniej znanych rodzinach. Ze Zbioru Jeziorkowskich 1898–1935, liczącego zaledwie 5 jednostek archiwalnych, wyłania się życiorys młodego żołnierza, odważnego mężczyzny, a przy tym kochającego i oddanego syna i brata. Ignacy Jeziorkowski (1898–1921) swą wojenną drogę rozpoczął w Rosji u Kozaków, po stronie „białych”, potem zaciągnął się do tworzących się polskich oddziałów w Rosji („Błękitnej Armii”), następnie służył już w Polsce. Pracował w wywiadzie. Uczestniczył w ryzykownych działaniach dywersyjnych na tyłach wojsk sowieckich w 1919 i 1920 r. Liczne rany i przebyty tyfus odcisnęły tragiczne piętno na jego zdrowiu. Zmarł po kilku miesiącach cierpień, niedługo po ukończeniu 22 lat. Żył krótko, ale podczas swej żołnierskiej drogi przeszedł, zarówno dosłownie, jak i w przenośni, długą drogę, wiodącą z Warszawy, przez Petersburg, na Przedkaukazie, następnie do Odessy, a potem przez Rumunię, Węgry, Austrię, Czechy do Polski, a później w okolice białoruskiego Mińska. Jego życie było wypełnione walką o niepodległość Ojczyzny, a śmierć stanowiła ogromny cios, przede wszystkim dla rodziców. Niewielki rodzinny zbiór z Archiwum Państwowego w Warszawie jest znakomitym przykładem materiałów zaliczanych do Archiwów Rodzinnych Niepodległej.
    Apart from archival materials produced by various Warsaw and voivodeship offices, justice institutions and schools, the State Archive in Warsaw also contains small collections which are legacies of more or less known families. In the Jeziorkowski Collection 1898–1935, which consists of only 5 archival units, a story of a young soldier, a brave man, and a loving and devoted son and brother captures attention. Ignacy Jeziorkowski (1898–1921) began his war journey in Russia with the Cossacks, on the "white" side, and then enlisted with the Polish troops being formed in Russia (the "Blue Army"), afterwards he served in Poland. He worked in intelligence. He participated in risky sabotage operations at the rear of the Soviet army in 1919 and 1920. Numerous wounds and typhoid fever left a tragic mark on his health. He died after several months of suffering, having barely reached the age of 22. He lived a short life, but during his military career he walked, both literally and figuratively, a long path, leading from Warsaw, through St. Petersburg, North Caucasus, then Odessa, and then through Romania, Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic to Poland, and later to the vicinity of Minsk, Belarus. His life was devoted to the fight for the independence of Poland, and his death was a huge blow, especially to his parents. A small family collection from the State Archive in Warsaw is an excellent example of the materials comprising the Family Archives of the Sovereign Poland.

    Bl. Fr. Michael Sopocko is a fascinating figure, particularly because of his zealous involvement in everything that he did, especially in his pastoral ministry. This article discusses Bl. Michael Sopocko’s pastoral achievements based on three biographical and chronological stages of his life, pastoral activity, and academic work. The first stage involves his early life in his family home as well as his work at the parish in Taboryszki, where he served until 1918 when he went to study in Warsaw. The second stage took place when he returned to Vilnius after completing his intermittent studies at the University of Warsaw (from 1918 until December 8, 1924) and until he met St. Faustina who introduced him to the mystery of Divine Mercy in 1933-1934. In the third phase of Bl. Michael Sopocko’s pastoral and academic ministry, the mystery of Divine Mercy dominated his thoughts and views on both the Church’s activities and pastoral ministry.
    Błogosławiony ks. Michał Sopoćko to postać fascynująca swoim zaangażowaniem i gorliwością we wszystkie dzieła, których dokonywał, a zwłaszcza te z dziedziny duszpasterskiej. Gdy zaś mówimy o bł. ks. Michale Sopoćce, o jego działalności duszpasterskiej i jego pracy naukowej to można rozróżnić trzy wyraźne okresy biograficzno-czasowe. Pierwszy okres obejmowałby jego życie w domu rodzinnym i praca w parafii Taboryszki aż do roku 1918, kiedy to wyjechał na studia do Warszawy. Drugi okres możemy rozciągnąć od powrotu do Wilna ze studiów, które miały miejsce na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim i trwały z przerwami od 1918 roku do 8 grudnia 1924 roku. Okres ten trwał aż do czasu zapoznania się z tajemnicą Miłosierdzia Bożego poprzez objawienia św. Faustyny w latach 1933-1934. W trzecim okresie działalności duszpasterskiej i naukowej ta tajemnica zdominowała jego poglądy zarówno na działalność Kościoła, jak i w ogóle na duszpasterstwo. Według tego schematu przedstawimy jego dokonania na polu duszpasterskim.
