Opis:
Circular economy (CE) is an interesting approach by many countries to address global environmental problems while gaining economic benefits. The implementation of CE is expected to minimize the use of resources and materials, thus contributing to sustainable development. Much literature has discussed CE assessment indicators and their evaluation, however to date, no single indicator has been proposed that can comprehensively measure the macro level of CE implementation. This study aims to develop a CE index to measure CE implementation at macro levels. In addition, it provides an overview of the impact of CE implementation on the financial, social, and environmental aspects of the economy. To this end, first, an in-depth literature review and descriptive analysis is conducted to identify existing global CE indicators and classify them into financial, social, and environmental categories based on available primary and secondary data. Then, the CE index is constructed using a mathematical equation by considering the CE framework, a single indicator of each aspect as a variable, and the variable’s weighting. Finally, the CE index is applied to evaluate the level of CE implementation of CE in Indonesia at macro level. This index is expected to be a valuable tool for measuring CE implementation and therefore improving CE performance.

1. Introduction. It is well known that methods of algebraic geometry and, in particular, Riemann surface techniques are well suited for the solution of nonlinear integrable equations. For instance, for nonlinear evolution equations, so called 'finite gap' solutions have been found by the help of these methods. In 1989 Korotkin [9] succeeded in applying these techniques to the Ernst equation, which is equivalent to Einstein's vacuum equation for axisymmetric stationary fields. But, the Ernst equation is not an evolution equation and, due to this fact, one is in this case usually confronted with boundary value problems which have not been considered there. On the other hand, Neugebauer and Meinel [10] were able to transform the boundary value problem for the rigidly rotating disk of dust into a scalar Riemann-Hilbert problem on a hyperelliptic Riemann surface and gave the solution to this problem in terms of theta functions. The methods they used were suited to the particular problem and one may ask to which extent algebro-geometric methods are useful for the solution of boundary value problems of the Ernst equation. In order to tackle this problem one should at first develop the Riemann-Hilbert technique on Riemann surfaces in detail and then apply this method in order to find solutions to the Ernst equation. The first of these two papers is devoted to the brief introduction into Riemann surface techniques (for a more detailed exposition see the cited literature). The second paper shows how the developed methods apply to the Ernst equation.

In this paper, we study the nonoscillatory behavior of three classes of fractional difference equations. The investigations are presented in three different folds. Unlike most existing nonoscillation results which have been established by employing Riccati transfor mation technique, we employ herein an easily verifiable approach based on the fractional Taylor’s difference formula, some features of discrete fractional calculus and mathematical inequalities. The theoretical findings are demonstrated by examples. We end the paper by a concluding remark.

Opis:
In this work, a design equation was presented for a batch-recirculated photoreactor composed of a packed bed reactor (PBR) with immobilised TiO2-P25 nanoparticle thin films on glass beads, and a continuous-flow stirred tank (CFST). The photoreactor was studied in order to remove C.I. Acid Orange 7 (AO7), a monoazo anionic dye from textile industry, by means of UV/TiO2 process. The effect of different operational parameters such as the initial concentration of contaminant, the volume of solution in CFST, the volumetric flow rate of liquid, and the power of light source in the removal efficiency were examined. A rate equation for the removal of AO7 is obtained by mathematical kinetic modelling. The results of reaction kinetic analysis indicate the conformity of removal kinetics with Langmuir-Hinshelwood model (kL-H = 0.74 mg L-1 min-1, Kads = 0.081 mg-1 L). The represented design equation obtained from mathematical kinetic modelling can properly predict the removal rate constant of the contaminant under different operational conditions (R2 = 0.963). Thus the calculated and experimental results are in good agreement with each other.

In this study we propose a simple mathematical model based on the equilibrium equation for the materials deformed elastically. Owing to the turgor pressure of the cells, the peripheral walls of the outer tissue are under tension, while the extensible inner tissue is under compression. This well known properties of growing multicellular plant organs can be derived from the equation for equilibrium. The analytic solutions may serve as a good starting point for modeling the growth of a single plant cell or an organ.

This paper presents the effects of dispersion on predicting longitudinal tracer concentration profiles in an activated sludge bioreactor located at the Wschód Waste-Water Treatment Plant in Gdansk. The aim of this study has been to use the one-dimensional advection-dispersion equation to simulate a non-active substance flow (based on the measured tracer concentration). The simulation results were compared with those obtained in the traditional tanks-in-series approach, commonly used in designing biological reactors. The dispersion coefficient was calculated from a statistical formula based on differences in the tracer concentration distributions at two sampling points. The study has shown that the numerical simulation using the one-dimensional tracer migration equation yields better results than the tanks-in-series model in predicting longitudinal tracer concentration profiles. This paper is an in-troduction to the study of reactive substances in activated sludge bioreactors.

The paper presents results of theoretical analysis of the finite amplitude plane wave propagation problem. The case of harmonic plane wave propagation in non-dissipative medium was considered. The mathematical model and some results of numerical investigations are presented. The mathematical model was built on the basis of one-dimensional continuity equation, equation of motion in differential form and state equation. The finite difference method was applied to solve the problem numerically. The pressure changes and harmonic pressure amplitude changes were analysed. The results of computer calculations were compared with solution of the Burgers equation.

The issue of using the physical method in economics is no longer an innovative idea. However, nowadays the methods of mathematical quantum mechanics are also applied to economic sciences. This is the natural result of the fact that as applicable in quantum mechanics, mathematical spaces and tools turn out to be useful in other fields of science. Then it is possible to assume that the problem of the choice of the space is a universal question that is associated not only with mathematics and physics but also with economics or social sciences. In this paper the author considers various formulations of Hilbert space in relation to finite-dimensional quantum mechanics which constitutes a fundament to also apply my outcomes in economics. On the basis of mathematical considerations the author puts forward the hypothesis that the complex Hilbert space is characterized with numerous advantages in relation to its real and quaternionic alternatives.

In this paper, the effect of a fractional order of time-derivatives occurring in fractional heat conduction models on the temperature distribution in a composite sphere is investigated. The research concerns heat conduction in a sphere consisting of a solid sphere and a spherical layer which are in perfect thermal contact. The solution of the problem with a classical Robin boundary condition and continuity conditions at the interface in an analytical form has been derived. The fractional heat conduction is governed by the heat conduction equation with the Caputo time-derivative, a Robin boundary condition and a heat flux continuity condition with the Riemann-Liouville derivative. The solution of the problem of non-local heat conduction by using the Laplace transform technique has been determined, and the temperature distribution in the sphere by using a method of numerical inversion of the Laplace transforms has been obtained.

The model analyzed in this paper is based on the model set forth by V.A. Kuznetsov and M.A. Taylor, which describes a competition between the tumor and immune cells. Kuznetsov and Taylor assumed that tumor-immune interactions can be described by a Michaelis-Menten function. In the present paper a simplified version of the Kuznetsov-Taylor model (where immune reactions are described by a bilinear term) is studied. On the other hand, the effect of time delay is taken into account in order to achieve a better compatibility with reality.
