Opis:
In this investigation, the analogy between thermal and mass diffusive effects of a free convective flow in a rectangular enclosure is emphasized. The upwind finite volume method is used to discretize the governing equations of the continuity, momentum, energy and mass transfer. The novelty in this exploration is to appropriately modify the well-known Semi-Implicit Method for Pressure-Linked Equations (SIMPLE) algorithm so that it suits to the present problem and thereby, the new flow variables such as the temperature and the concentration are computed. An empirical correlation for the average Sherwood number (Sh) that does not exist in literature is suggested in this work. The average Sherwood numbers for distinct fluids (gases and liquids) are calculated, and mass diffusion effects within the horizontal rectangle are analyzed. The average Nusselt numbers (Nu) are calculated for distinct fluids such as liquids (Pr ≫1), liquid metals (Pr≪1) and gases (Pr < 1) for different Rayleigh numbers in the range of 3x105 ≤ RaL ≤ 7x10 9 from relevant empirical correlations existing in the literature. Accordingly, the thermal diffusion effects within the horizontal rectangle are analyzed.

Opis:
Thermal radiation effects on an unsteady free convective flow of a viscous incompressible flow of a past an exponentially accelerated infinite isothermal vertical plate with uniform mass diffusion in the presence magnetic field are considered. The fluid considered here is a gray, absorbing-emitting radiation but a non-scattering medium. The plate temperature is raised to Tw and the concentration level near the plate is also raised to Cʹw . An exact solution to the dimensionless governing equations is obtained by the Laplace transform method, when the plate is exponentially accelerated with a velocity u= u0 exp(aʹtʹ) in its own plane against gravitational field. The effects of velocity, temperature and concentration fields are studied for different physical parameters such as the magnetic field parameter, thermal radiation parameter, Schmidt number, thermal Grashof number, mass Grashof number and time. It is observed that the velocity increases with decreasing magnetic field parameter or radiation parameter. But the trend is just reversed with respect to a or t .

Opis:
A theoretical solution of flow past an exponentially accelerated vertical plate in the presence of Hall current and MHD relative to a rotating fluid with uniform temperature and mass diffusion is presented. The dimensionless equations are solved using the Laplace method. The axial and transverse velocity, temperature and concentration fields are studied for different parameters such as the Hall parameter (m), Hartmann number (M), Rotation parameter (Ω), Schmidt number, Prandtl number, thermal Grashof number (Gr) and mass Grashof number (Gc). It has been observed that the temperature of the plate decreases with increasing values of the Prandtl number and the concentration near the plate increases with decreasing values of Schmidt number. It is also observed that both axial and transverse velocities increase with decreasing values of the magnetic field parameter or rotation parameter, but the trend gets reversed with respect to the Hall parameter. The effects of parameters m, M, […], Gr and Gc on the axial and transverse velocity profiles are shown graphically.

A mathematical model for MHD blood flow through a stenosed artery with Soret and Dufour effects in the presence of thermal radiation has been studied. A uniform magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the porous surface. The governing non-linear partial differential equations have been transformed into linear partial differential equations, which are solved numerically by applying the explicit finite difference method. The numerical results are presented graphically in the form of velocity, temperature and concentration profiles. The effects of various parameters such as the Reynolds number, Hartmann number, radiation parameter, Schmidt number and Prandtl number, Soret and Dufour parameter on the velocity, temperature and concentration have been examined with the help of graphs. The present results have an important bearing on the therapeutic procedure of hyperthermia, particularly in understanding/regulating blood flow and heat transfer in capillaries.

Opis:
An exact solution of the combined study of Hall effects on a vertical plate with a rotating fluid in the presence of a homogeneous chemical reaction of first order has been analysed. The dimensionless governing coupled partial differential equations are tackled using the usual Laplace transform technique. The sway of the Hall parameter, Hartmann number, Grashof number, Prandtl number, Schmidt number, chemical reaction parameter on the axial velocity and concentration of the fluid has been depicted graphically. When the non-dimensional angular velocity, Ω=2M21+m.2, the transverse velocity component vanishes, thereby the axial velocity of the fluid attains the maximum value. It is noted that with increase in the Hall parameter, thermal Grashof number and mass Grashof number, the axial velocity of the fluid increases significantly.
