Higher education institutions (HEIs) play a significant role in modern economies, and it is worthwhile to analyze the factors that affect their effectiveness. To our knowledge, few studies have focused on the attitudes of students in Poland to their work environment. The purpose of this paper is to present differences in the perception of current and desired organizational culture in public and non-public HEIs in Poland from the perspective of students. A synthetic review of the literature on organizational culture at HEIs was conducted and presented. Research in the form of a survey based on Cameron and Quinn’s model was conducted in two public and two non-public HEIs in Poland. A sample of opinions of 402 students was gathered and analyzed. According to students from public and non-public schools alike the present culture was clan culture. Both groups also pointed at clan culture as the desired one, with adhocracy culture following closely. The findings may be useful for higher education decision makers in their attempts to create an effective working environment at HEIs. A further, more comprehensive research into the subject will be worth conducting.

Türkiye has a wealth of foundations and their properties, assets managed by the General Directorate of Foundations (GDF) through its geomatics engineers. This article aims to identify the misconceptions of senior undergraduate geomatics engineering students (sample group) about the relationship between foundations and land ownership registered as cultural heritage. It will develop and implement materials to eliminate these misconceptions and evaluate their effectiveness. This study consists of a preliminary, a pilot and the main application. The data collection instruments are an open-ended questionnaire, a semi-structured interview form and conceptual understanding tests. As a result of the analysis of the pre-study and the pilot study, guidance materials on information deficits and misunderstandings in the application of Article 30 of the Law on Foundations were developed. In the analysis of the quantitative data, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test is used, a non-parametric analysis methods. In the light of the data obtained from the study, it is recommended that materials be developed in other areas of land management to investigate their effectiveness.

The objective of this study was to identify the relationship between personal, business, management, and social skills and the entrepreneurship program of students from an educational institution with an entrepreneurial profile in the creation of micro and small companies. The type of research was quantitative, correlational, and non-experimental. The subjects were 320 students from the field of economic and administrative sciences. The instrument was validated by four professors from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, Autonomous University of Coahuila, Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Ecate-pec, and the Technological Institute of Sonora and had two sections. In the first, there were 17 general information questions, and the second contained 45 questions on a Likert scale ranging from 1 to 5. Regarding the results, it was demonstrated that personal, business, management, and social skills as well as skills developed in educational programs are significant and have a positive relationship with the entrepreneurial profile for the creation of micro and small businesses. The study provides the basis for other studies that seek to assess the skills of entrepreneurs and the creation of micro and small businesses.

The main goal of education at a maritime university is to provide students with knowledge and practical skills necessary for future work on a ship. To receive the diploma of merchant navy officer, students are required to complete a 12-month maritime internship. During the internship, as well as during the entire course of studies, students' expectations regarding their future professional work are developed, related to, among others, working and living conditions on a ship, employment conditions and cooperation with the shipowner. These expectations determine the students’ subsequent choices towards a given shipowner as a potential employer, as well as their decisions about further professional development in this field. From the point of view of operational management, it is therefore important for the shipowner to know the requirements that must be met in order to have a motivated and competent staff. This article aims to classify the requirements for students relative to their future work on a ship based on assessing the impact of the requirement fulfilment level against the level of their satisfaction. The results obtained made it possible to indicate those requirements regarding working conditions, the fulfilment of which should be treated by shipowners as a priority, because they determine the students’ satisfaction to the highest degree.

Aim. The objective of the article is to present selected aspects of digital hygiene as well as methods and tools that can help with time management in a virtual space, especially among students and the professionally active. Methods. For the sake purpose of the article the authors have conducted a throughout analysis of the literature addressing the concept of digital hygiene and time management in a virtual space. Results. As a result of the research, it can be concluded that several users are unaware of the risks associated with technology and are also incapable of efficient time management. The article demonstrates tools and methods which can be applied to improve one’s digital hygiene and enhance their one’s skills as far as managing the time in a virtual space, such as blocking distractions, priority setting and time management, as well as breaks and physical activity.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wybranych aspektów higieny cyfrowej oraz sposobów i narzędzi, które mogą pomóc w zarządzaniu czasem w przestrzeni wirtualnej, szczególnie uczniom i osobom aktywnym zawodowo. Metody. W artykule została przeprowadzona analiza literatury dotyczącej zagadnień związanych z higieną cyfrową oraz zarządzaniem czasem w przestrzeni wirtualnej. Wnioski. W wyniku przeprowadzonej analizy można stwierdzić, że wiele osób nie jest świadomych zagrożeń związanych z korzystaniem z technologii oraz nie umie efektywnie zarządzać czasem w przestrzeni wirtualnej. Artykuł przedstawia wybrane narzędzia oraz sposoby, które mogą pomóc w poprawie higieny cyfrowej oraz zarządzaniu czasem w przestrzeni wirtualnej, takie jak: blokowanie rozpraszaczy, wyznaczanie priorytetów i planowanie czasu, a także przerwy i ćwiczenia fizyczne.

Celem artykułu jest ocena percepcji wdrażanych w Krakowie projektów na rzecz rozwoju miasta inteligentnego. Uzasadnieniem dla podjętych badań jest to, że większość empirycznych analiz mechanizmów wdrażania koncepcji smart city koncentruje się na aspektach technicznych, rzadziej podejmowana jest diagnoza postaw, opinii i oczekiwań mieszkańców, pomimo że w świetle badań teoretycznych partycypacja obywateli wpływa na te procesy. W opracowaniu zaprezentowano wyniki ankiety przeprowadzonej na reprezentatywnej próbie studentów krakowskich uczelni. Ankieta dotyczyła m.in.: znajomości koncepcji smart city, opinii na temat postępów w jej wdrażaniu oraz oczekiwań co do kolejnych innowacji. Z przeprowadzonych badań wynika, że znajomość koncepcji smart city jest słaba. Osoby zorientowane w tej tematyce pozytywnie oceniają efekty zmian w poszczególnych wymiarach inteligentnego miasta. Optymistycznym spostrzeżeniem są wysokie oczekiwania respondentów co do aktywności innowacyjnej władz miejskich.
The aim of the article is to analyze assess the social perception of projects implemented in Krakow for the transformation towards a smart city. The justification for the undertaken research is the fact that most empirical analyses of the mechanisms of implementing the smart city concept focus on technical aspects, less often the diagnosis of attitudes, opinions, and expectations of residents is undertaken, despite the fact that in the light of theoretical research, citizens’ participation significantly affects these processes. The study presents the results of surveys conducted on a representative sample of students of Krakow universities, i.e. representatives of one of the most numerous and potentially the most innovation-oriented groups of urban public service recipients. The survey concerned, m.inamong others: knowledge of the smart city concept, opinions on the progress in its implementation in the city, and expectations regarding further innovations in public space. Research shows that knowledge of the smart city concept is surprisingly poor. People familiar with this subject moderately positively assess the effects of changes in individual dimensions of a smart city. An optimistic observation is the high expectations of respondents regarding the innovative activity of municipal authorities.

Zagadnienie sztucznej inteligencji (AI) będącej efektem dynamicznego rozwoju technologii informacyjnej jest przedmiotem badań od kilkudziesięciu lat. Jednym z systemów inteligentnych, który generuje odpowiedzi na dowolnie postawione pytania jest ChatGPT, którego jednym z obszarów zastosowania jest edukacja. Artykuł przedstawia wyniki badań sondażowych przeprowadzonych w ramach zajęć dydaktycznych z zarządzania wśród studentów Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego w Krakowie. Badania miały na celu identyfikację opinii studentów na temat możliwości wykorzystania platformy ChatGPT w rozwiązywaniu konkretnych problemów decyzyjnych i były prowadzone podczas zajęć dydaktycznych w semestrze letnim roku akademickiego 2022/23. W artykule opisano powstanie i rozwój systemu ChatGPT, zaprezentowano metodę badawczą oraz wyniki badań. Dokonano również dyskusji uzyskanych wyników z wnioskami zaprezentowanymi w literaturze naukowej. Z przeprowadzonej analizy wynika, że większość badanych studentów jest pozytywnie nastawiona do wykorzystania systemu ChatGPT na zajęciach. W odpowiedziach na pytanie otwarte pojawiły się jednak różne opinie. Z jednej strony wskazano na korzyści wynikające z jego stosowania jako narzędzia wspomagającego naukę, takie jak ułatwienie wyszukiwania informacji, parafrazowanie tekstu czy generowanie planów pracy. Z drugiej strony pojawiły się obawy dotyczące możliwości popełnienia plagiatu, a także ryzyko utraty umiejętności poszukiwania informacji przez studentów w sposób rzetelny i efektywny.
Artificial intelligence (AI), the result of the dynamic development of information technology, has been the subject of research for several decades. ChatGPT is an intelligent system that generates answers to arbitrary questions, and one of its fields of application is education. This article presents the results of a survey conducted as part of a teaching course in management among students at the Krakow University of Economics. The research was aimed at identifying students' opinions on the possibility of using ChatGPT in solving specific decision-making problems and was conducted during the didactic classes in the summer semester of the academic year 2022/23. The article describes the origin and development of ChatGPT, presents the research method and the results of the research. A discussion of the results obtained with conclusions presented in the scientific literature is also made. The analysis shows that the majority of the students surveyed were positive about the use of the ChatGPT system in their classes. The students' responses to the open-ended question revealed different opinions. On the one hand, the benefits of using ChatGPT as a learning support tool were pointed out, such as facilitating information retrieval, paraphrasing text or creating work plans. On the other hand, concerns were raised about laziness, plagiarism and the loss of the ability to search for information reliably and efficiently.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between coping strategies, perceived stress and depression risk assessment in a group of students in the Polish-Czech borderland. 173 students from the University of Silesia participated in the study. The participants completed the Perceived Stress Scale, the Kutcher Adolescent Depression Scale and the Multidimensional Inventory for Measuring Coping with Stress. The correlation analysis showed that strategies described as adaptive (e.g., active coping, positive reappraisal and development) are negatively related to the perceived stress and severity of depressive symptoms. In contrast, strategies that can be described as non-adaptive (e.g., disengagement, denial) presented opposite (i.e., positive) relationship effects with the perceived stress and depressiveness. In the light of the obtained data, it seems that the repertoire of coping methods presented by individuals to deal with stress may be reflected in their perception of situations as aggravating and in their assessment of the risk of depression. Thus, future psychopedagogical interventions should focus on building personal resources by shaping adaptive (and minimizing those nonadaptive) coping strategies to improve mental health among borderland students.
Celem badań była analiza związków między strategiami radzenia sobie a odczuwanym stresem i oceną ryzyka depresji w grupie studentów na pograniczu polsko-czeskim. W badaniu wzięło udział 173 studentów cieszyńskiego Wydziału Sztuki i Nauk o Edukacji Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach. Uczestnicy wypełnili Skalę Poczucia Odczuwanego Stresu, Skalę Oceny Ryzyka Depresji Kutchera dla Młodzieży oraz Wielowymiarowy Inwentarz do Pomiaru Radzenia Sobie ze Stresem. Analiza korelacji wykazała, że strategie określane jako adaptacyjne (na przykład aktywne radzenie sobie, pozytywne przewartościowanie i rozwój) są negatywnie związane z odczuwanym stresem i nasileniem objawów depresji. Natomiast strategie, które możemy określić jako nieadaptacyjne (na przykład zaprzestanie działań, zaprzeczanie) prezentowały przeciwstawne (to jest dodatnie) efekty związków z postrzeganiem stresu i depresyjnością. W świetle uzyskanych danych wydaje się, że prezentowany przez jednostki repertuar metod radzenia sobie ze stresem może znajdować swoje odzwierciedlenie w postrzeganiu sytuacji jako obciążające oraz w ocenie ryzyka depresji. Tym samym przyszłe interwencje psychopedagogiczne powinny koncentrować się na budowaniu zasobów osobistych poprzez kształtowanie adaptacyjnych (i minimalizowanie tych nieadaptacyjnych) strategii radzenia sobie w celu poprawy zdrowia psychicznego wśród studentów pogranicza.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced higher education students to change their academic functioning, as well as the process of their social integration. This study focuses on the impact of the pandemic on student well-being, engagement and commitment to the university. The research group comprises 184 students from two universities (Poland and Germany). The research has shown that engagement with the university and the sense of commitment are negatively related to students’ well-being before the pandemic. It has also been revealed that females show higher commitment and engagement regardless of the country. Findings contribute to understanding student engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Advancements in the educational sector are vital in developing students’ intellectual skills and worldwide requirements and gaining the attention of researchers and regulators. Thus, the present article aims to examine how teaching style and leadership skills impact the educational environment and students’ intellectual skills at universities in UAE. The current study also discusses the mediating role of the educational environment in teaching style, leadership skills, and students’ intellectual skills in universities in the UAE. The study’s novelty also lies here as no such research has been conducted using the selected variables worldwide, especially in UAE. The survey questionnaires have been used to collect data from the respondents. The results indicated that teaching style and leadership skills significantly impact students’ intellectual skills, and teaching style significantly impacts the educational environment of universities in UAE. The findings also revealed that the educational environment significantly mediates the links between teaching style and students’ intellectual skills at universities in UAE. This research is helpful for the policymakers regarding the formulation of policies about the educational environment in universities that improve student learning skills.
Postępy w sektorze edukacyjnym mają kluczowe znaczenie dla rozwijania umiejętności intelektualnych uczniów i wymagań na całym świecie oraz przyciągania uwagi badaczy i organów regulacyjnych. Dlatego niniejszy artykuł ma na celu zbadanie, w jaki sposób styl nauczania i umiejętności przywódcze wpływają na środowisko edukacyjne i umiejętności intelektualne studentów na uniwersytetach w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. Obecne badanie omawia również pośredniczącą rolę środowiska edukacyjnego w stylu nauczania, umiejętnościach przywódczych i umiejętnościach intelektualnych studentów na uniwersytetach w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. W tym również tkwi nowość badania, ponieważ nie przeprowadzono takich badań z wykorzystaniem wybranych zmiennych na całym świecie, zwłaszcza w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. Kwestionariusze ankiety zostały wykorzystane do zebrania danych od respondentów. Wyniki wskazują, że styl nauczania i umiejętności przywódcze znacząco wpływają na umiejętności intelektualne uczniów, a styl nauczania znacząco wpływa na środowisko edukacyjne uniwersytetów w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. Wyniki ujawniły również, że środowisko edukacyjne znacząco pośredniczy w powiązaniach między stylem nauczania a umiejętnościami intelektualnymi uczniów na uniwersytetach w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. Badanie to jest pomocne dla decydentów w zakresie formułowania polityk dotyczących środowiska edukacyjnego na uniwersytetach, które poprawiają umiejętności uczenia się studentów.

Creative behavior development is one of the most important aspect of modern education. It can be achieved using university creative management therefor this study seems to be very promising for the practice. The paper examines the impact of efficient teachers, and creative management on the enterprising performance of the universities students in Indonesia. This research also investigates the mediating impact of student involvement among the association of efficient teachers, creative management and enterprising performance of the universities students in Indonesia. This article adopted the questionnaires to obtain the data and also employed the smart-PLS to check the nexus among understudy variables. The results indicated that efficient teachers, and creative management have a significant association with the enterprising performance of universities students in Indonesia. The findings also revealed that student involvement positively mediates among the relations of efficient teachers, creative management and enterprising performance of the universities students in Indonesia. This research guided the regulators regarding developing the policies related to the creative university involvement that improve the students enterprising performance.
Twórczy rozwój zachowań jest jednym z najważniejszych aspektów współczesnej edukacji. Można to osiągnąć za pomocą uniwersyteckiego kreatywnego zarządzania, dlatego niniejsze badanie wydaje się być bardzo obiecujące dla praktyki. Artykuł analizuje wpływ skutecznych nauczycieli i kreatywnego zarządzania na wyniki przedsiębiorcze studentów uniwersytetów w Indonezji. Badanie to analizuje również pośredniczący wpływ zaangażowania studentów wśród stowarzyszenia skutecznych nauczycieli, kreatywnego zarządzania i przedsiębiorczych wyników studentów uniwersytetów w Indonezji. W artykule przyjęto kwestionariusze do uzyskania danych, a także wykorzystano smart-PLS do sprawdzenia powiązania między zmiennymi w badaniu. Wyniki wskazują, że wydajni nauczyciele i kreatywne zarządzanie mają istotny związek z przedsiębiorczymi osiągnięciami studentów uniwersytetów w Indonezji. Wyniki ujawniły również, że zaangażowanie studentów pozytywnie pośredniczy między relacjami skutecznych nauczycieli, kreatywnym zarządzaniem i przedsiębiorczymi osiągnięciami studentów uniwersytetów w Indonezji. Badanie to pokierowało regulatorami w zakresie opracowywania polityk związanych z kreatywnym zaangażowaniem uniwersytetów, które poprawiają wyniki przedsiębiorcze studentów.

Aim. The aim of the research is to determine what role management and schools play in the organisation of students” free time, and what activities it undertakes to educate for leisure time. Methods. This study used methods of theoretical analysis, survey research methods, and questionnaires, in which 1410 subjects such as principals, teachers, parents and students from 150 primary schools in Bosnia and Herzegowina (B&H) participated. Results. The results show that principals and teachers have positive attitudes about the rational use of students’ free time in order to prepare them  for continuing self-education with the use of various sources of knowledge. Conclusion. Conclusions show that for a better understanding of the role of school management it is necessary to do more research about this issue on the territory of B&H, because the proper organisation and implementation of students’ free time can be successful if all participants in education work together. Research restrictions. Since it is not possible to make comparison with results of the previous research on this topic on the territory of B&H,  the study compares results with results from other countries. Practical application. The practical goal is to examine the education and to increase the understanding and awareness of the free time of young people. Originality. This study is original and creative, and it contributes to better understanding of the role of management in leisure activities on students’ emotional, social, cognitive and work competencies.

In the past few years, wireless devices, including pocket PCs, pagers, mobile phones, etc, have gained popularity among a variety of users across the world and the use of mobile phones in particular, has increased significantly in many parts of the world, especially in India. Cell phones are now the most popular form of electronic communication and constitute an integral part of adolescents' daily lives, as is the case for the majority of mobile phone users. In fact, mobile phones have turned from a technological tool to a social tool. Therefore, the influence of cell phones on young people needs to be thoroughly examined. In this paper, we explore the attitude of young adults towards cell phones and identify the hidden classes of respondents according to the patterns of mobile phone use. The Latent Class Analysis (LCA) serves as a tool to detect any peculiarities, including those gender-based. LCA measures the value of an unknown latent variable on the basis of the respondents' answers to various indicator variables; for this reason, a proper selection of indicators is of great importance here. In this work, we propose a method of selecting the most useful variables for an LCA-based detection of group structures from within the examined data. We apply a greedy search algorithm, where during each phase the models are compared through an approximation to their Bayes factor. The method is applied in the process of selecting variables related to mobile phone usage which are most useful for the clustering of respondents into different classes. The findings demonstrate that young people display various feelings and attitudes toward cell phone usage.

The development of Covid-19 pandemic forced mass use of distance learning in the school system, including higher education. The rapid change and related consequences may contribute to the so-called academic burnout. The fol- lowing research questions are stated in the article: to what extend did management courses students experience academic burnout while distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic? How did distance learning change their academic burnout? Did the mode of study (full-time/external) differentiate students’ opinions? The subject of the study comprised of 172 randomly chosen students of management courses, i.e. Management, Economics and Logistics. A technique of an online survey was made use of, using a compartmentalised and standardised survey questionnaire, including The Oldenburg Burnout Inventory questionnaire – student version (The OLBI-S). It was demonstrated that in the majority of subjects academic burnout increased while distance learning during Covid-19 pandemic. A slightly higher level of burnout was detected in the case of ‘exhaustion’ than ‘disengagement’ scale. Moreover, differen- ces between full-time and external students were noticed, as in general a higher level of burnout characterised the former category of respondents.

Introduction/background: Nowadays realities of social life create the need for unified, fundamental mechanisms of forming the motivation of future managers for their comprehensive understanding of not only the economic processes, but also the peculiarities of human life. That’s why the particular importance becomes to improving the professional training of future managers in the context of forming their health-oriented management skills. Aim of the paper: To substantiate the neediness and features of formation the health-oriented management skills of students-future managers in Ukraine. Materials and methods: The research was conducted during 2020-2021. The study involved 345 persons from Lviv region (Ukraine): 320 persons aged from 25 to 55 years, who work in the organizations and 25 students of the third and fourth years of study, which are trained in the specialty “Management”). The following research methods were applied: theoretical analysis and synthesis of professional scientific literature, analysis of Internet resources, pedagogical observation, surveys (questionnaires). Results and conclusions: The research data indicate the neediness to change not only the structure, content, forms, and methods of the system of professional training of future managers for the formation of their competence in health-oriented management issues, but also to search the new, non-standard motivational factors. The educational system of training of future managers, which includes the mechanisms of formation their readiness for health- oriented management, should be specially structured and include certain motivational parts, components and indicators. Management which is based on a human-centred approach, focused on the fact that the highest value of the organization is not just human resources, but the health of each individual employee, we define as health-oriented management. Using of substantive theories of motivation for the training system in health-oriented management for the future management is a necessary condition for their successful future professional activity.
