ehT aim of this article is empirical exploration of the dependence of the status of a 'stranger' on the local and social context. In that context s/he acts as a partici of migration process that represents dynamics of the locally relativised attrib of the environment / 'localisation'. eTh thesis statement concerns the interference of constitutive ecological, organizational, cultural and symbolic dimensions i the social space. uThs the paper verifies validity of the subsequent hypotheses that 'environment' (coexistent attributes, fields, characteristics) that constitute the confi uration of the 'homological structures' as defined by Pierre Bourdieu and specific for particular local communities inuflences perception and attitude towards a strang ehT operationalisation of such complex constructs, along with the contextualisation o the migration phenomenon involving the stranger-environment relationship, leads t the adoption of an interdisciplinary research perspective that in addition to sociol includes geographic economy, demography and spatial statistics. eTh analysis of the aforementioned dependencies requires a multi-source database from various survey and administrative data (the Local Data Bank of the Statistics Poland). eTh result of the analyses confirm that the main determinant of the attitude towards a stran (as a migrant) and their status in the changing environment is the local social spa (interpreted in a homologous way).

Opis:

The purpose of this investigation is the determination of a simple criterion of local space charge effect in conventional avalanche counters at moderate specific ionization. Parallel-plate avalanche counters (PPAC) with an electrode spacing d from 0.1 to 0.4 cm have been used to register low-energy alpha particles at n-heptane vapour pressures of p ? 5 Torr. The criterion determined is a simple h/pm function describing the variability of the product of effective gas amplification and actual particle energy loss, where both the numerical h coefficient and the exponent m assume different values for the various values of d. The product variability at higher gas pressures in PPAC detector – having regard to practical side of criterion determined – can be relatively well described by a single linear function. The results obtained are discussed from their veracity point of view.

Opis:

European integration impacts the perception and symbolism of space, and the resultant transformation seems to be linked to changes in memory. Both of these factors belong to the deep, although not always conscious effects of integration. Memory is rarely stable. The biographical events in an individual’s life, along with changes in the meaning of the broad European space, affect the symbolism of a local space as developed in both individual and collective memory. This also transforms the memory and symbolism of even the most intimate experience of a local space-and again, this takes place both in the memory of individuals and in the collective memory of local communities. Its form greatly depends on the variety of agents involved in public discourse, such as the media and the arguments made by political and religious leaders. One of the factors involved is the change in social and cultural perspective created by the expanded area of easily accessible space, which in today’s EU includes countries once separated by physically experienced borders. In the article I will attempt to identify and describe the mechanisms involved in transforming the symbolism of local space. One of the issues addressed will be the confrontation between advancing cosmopolitanism and the rise of attachment to localities.

The article treats about a cultural landscape of the Nowy Dwór housing estate in Wrocław. Since its formation in 1938, the very estate has undergone deep topographic and ideologic changes: from the “racially elite” community at the time of national socialism, an “industrial colony” in socialism to the tower block it is nowadays. The aim of considerations on the past and present landscape of the housing estate is to understand the co-relations happening between people and the place of their inhabitance as a cultural phenomenon, and including it in a broader trend of cultural studies dealing with the places of memory, collective memory and cultural landscape.

Opis:

Fast development of Wroclaw city at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century was related to its expansion to the neighbouring area. Smaller localities attached to the city kept their rural or provincial character. After the Second World War management and building of many settlements were subject to principal changes. Near the city centre high buildings were localized, the rule of complex and close buildings around the settlement squares was abandoned, multi-family buildings with more than 4 floors above the ground were built in peripheral areas. Buildings of this type spread as an effect of the de-urbanisation process on neighbouring communities, levelling their character. Some of the urban areas changed their appearance because of the new utilisation of the industrial area, solving waste and sewage management problems and protection of water-bearing territories. The precious agricultural lands disappear irretrievably. Disintegration and uncoordinated guidelines to the plans of space management allow for dissonance in roof constructions, breaking the harmony of the arrangement visible from a bird's eye view.

Opis:

This article is devoted to analyzing how lifestyles typical in the modern world, related to migration and work, modify one's perspective on the local space in the context of a bor¬derland and become the basis for constructing a specific concept of locality. Such a concept, recognized in the researched cities of southern Poland, seems to be a regional (i.e. Central European) form of circumstances identified by R. Robertson as glocalization. The analysis of empirical material is preceded by a description of the theoretical sociological context of the researched phenomena, i.e. different ways researchers have framed space, with special attention given to relational concepts of space (M. Castells, J. Urry), which find their analogies in the empirical material. The analysis of individual interpretations of local space focuses on the issue of such representations of physical space, which underline its relational, network character. Next, the consequences of such an understanding of space for the interpretation of locality, i.e. all that can be described as close, homely, related to place, are analyzed. These consequences, termed as the extension and transgression of locality, do not follow solely from the assumptions concerning the nature of space made by the respondents. A factor responsible for reshaping their representation of locality is, first of all, migration in all its aspects and forms, i.e. emigration from the researched communities, immigration from the outside, internal and international migration, from rural to urban areas. In the specific conditions of the borderland it is possible to see that locality in the eyes of the respond¬ents crosses national and state boundaries. A vision of locality is reflexively confronted with an absolutist understanding of national and state space. In the testimonies there are visible attempts at lifting the border, contesting such an understanding of space. The choice of a relational, postmodern narration resembles the specific situation of borderland-ness of migrating persons.

The paper ponders over the issue of memory and urban space. It shows how these categories have been discussed in the literature and how they are connected to the problem of place identity. The paper also highlights the need to appreciate and assess the physical aspect of objects, which act as memory markers in the urban space. The author argues that what is being memorialised and conveyed as meaning is the past lived experience. As a case in point, two memory acts are analysed in the paper, clearly showing the interdependence of various temporalities in the anniversary celebrations. In the festivities celebrating the 100th (in 1881) and 150th (in 1931/2) anniversaries of the consecration of the Lutheran church in Warsaw, the capital of the Kingdom of Poland in the Russian partition and later the capital of a resurrected independent Polish state after 1918, the different present-oriented needs were mirrored in the narratives and commemorations of the past. Idiosyncratic visions of the past help make the small and vulnerable community of Lutherans in an otherwise primarily Roman Catholic environment more coherent, as its members may lay claim to history and construct and stabilise their identification process as descendants of past generations. Moreover, the material fabric of the church seems to be an indispensable factor. The parishioners’ lived experience appears to be a crucial component of commemorations in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Due to the emergence of Internet-based media channels the character of local information spaces in the Czech Republic has undergone a remarkable change. Traditionally, dominant information sources: daily newspapers and municipally-owned media have become challenged by a variety of online sources run by groups of active citizens. Based on a systemic analysis of the local media sector and interviews conducted with representatives of local activist groups this paper discusses the consequences of these processes for local political communication. From the activists’ perspective, the new communication environment has significantly influenced the character of the mutual relationship between different participants in local political communication. Trust between journalists and activists: the basis for their cooperative relationship, faces decline, whereas the self-confidence of activists in negotiations with politicians has increased. Online media also allow the activists to break the existing information monopoly and engage citizens in public affairs. These changes have resulted in the professionalisation of communication skills for the activists, who are thus able to become more important participants in political communication.

Tożsamość religijna w społeczeństwach Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej ulega aktualnie silnym przemianom związanym zarówno z konsekwencjami transformacji systemowej, zmianami kulturowymi, jak i przemianami wewnątrz Kościołów. W nowych demokratycznych warunkach w państwach takich jak Polska, Słowacja i Ukraina tożsamość religijna staje się także jedną z tożsamości zbiorowych manifestowanych w sferze publicznej i istotnych nie tylko w kontekście dyskursu publicznego, ale także w kontekstach lokalnych, tj. tożsamości lokalnej i tożsamości miejsca. Autorka przedstawia w artykule refleksje dotyczące znaczeń religijnej tożsamości zbiorowej w lokalnej przestrzeni publicznej. Są to spostrzeżenia wyłaniające się z prowadzonych badań jakościowych. Zarysowują się tutaj trzy istotne konteksty znaczeń tożsamości religijnej w lokalnej przestrzeni życia publicznego: 1) specyfika roli religijności i religii w życiu publicznym w tej części Europy, 2) kulturowe i instytucjonalne znaczenia identyfikacji religijnej w odniesieniu do tożsamości lokalnej i tożsamości miejsca, 3) problematyka narracji wokół wieloreligijnego dziedzictwa sakralnego w społecznościach lokalnych, która wprowadza nowy sposób percepcji religijnej tożsamości jako kulturowego zasobu związanego z miejscem i pamięcią.
Religious identity in the societies of Central and Eastern Europe is currently undergoing strong changes associated with the consequences of systemic transition, cultural changes and alterations within the churches. In the new democratic conditions in countries such as Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine, religious identity becomes one of the collective identities manifested in the public sphere and important not only in terms of public discourse but also of local contexts, i.e. local identity and identity of the place. In the article, the author presents some reflections on the meanings of collective religious identity in the local public space. These are insights that emerge from qualitative research. The article outlines three important contexts of meaning of religious identity in the local space of public life: 1) specificity of the role of religion and religiosity in public life in this part of Europe, 2) cultural and institutional significance of religious identification in relation to local identity, 3) issues of the narrative concerning the multireligious sacred heritage in local communities, which introduces a new way of perception of religious identity as a cultural resource associated with the place and memory.

Opis:

This paper includes analysis of modern filesystems performance in multidisk storage space configuration. In performance testing only popular open source filesystem types were used in GNU/Linux operating system: BTRFS, EXT4, XFS. Base file operations were tested in various local multi-disk storage configurations using Logical Volume Manager, that differentiated due to disk number, allocation policy and block allocation unit. In multi-disk storage configurations managed by LVM many allocation policies were used like various RAID levels and thin provisioning. The obtained filesystem performance characteristics allow to choose parameters of multi-disk storage space configuration, which provides the best performance for file operations. Research result show also which filesystem type is the efficient in storage space configuration with locally connected disks.

We provide a number of either necessary and sufficient or only sufficient conditions on a local homeomorphism defined on an open, connected subset of the n-space to be actually a homeomorphism onto a star-shaped set. The unifying idea is the existence of "auxiliary" scalar functions that enjoy special behaviours along the paths that result from lifting the half-lines that radiate from a point in the codomain space. In our main result this special behaviour is monotonicity, and the auxiliary function can be seen as a Lyapunov function for a suitable dynamical system having the lifted paths as trajectories.

W artykule podjęto problematykę przestrzeni jako istotnego elementu kultury niematerialnej i materialnej w budowie tożsamości społeczności lokalnej. Problematyka ta jest umieszczona na gruncie przestrzeni społecznej. Przestrzeń rozumiana jest socjologicznie, nie tylko jako wytyczony obszar, lecz głównie jako obszar, który oddziaływuje na społeczność go zamieszkującą. Obszar ten jest nacechowany wytworami kultury tej społeczności, są to wytwory materialne i ich niematerialne konotacje w umysłach ludzkich. Wpływa to bezpośrednio na percepcje przestrzeni przez mieszkańców społeczności lokalnej. Kreuje to produkt lokalny, będący charakterystycznym dla danej wspólnoty, tworzący jej tożsamość i wachlarz kapitałów.
In article space issues have been taken as an important intangible cultural element immaterial and material in the construction of the identity of the local community. This issue is placed on the ground of social space. Space which is sociologically, not only as a delimited area, but mainly as an area that affects the community living in it. This area is characterized by cultural creations of this community, they are creations of their tangible and intangible connotations in the minds of men. This affects directly on perceptions of space by the inhabitants of the local community. Creates a local product, which is characteristic for a given community, creating its identity and of capital.

The author’s consideration concerns 15 years’ existence of The Departament of Ethnoculturology and Regional Education at Paweł Włodkowic University College. It is shown the base of ethnology and methodology of research in the term of local, regional and ethnic studies against the general problems of contemporary humanities. It contains practical implications and the current situation of Polish regionalism. The text presents the discussion material.

Opis:

State celebrations, anniversaries of important historical events and their observance are one of the main channels of communication between ruling elite and society that shape the state symbolic space. In addition to establish ing memorial sites, erecting monuments, founding institutions focused on remembrance, they are the most important way to create a narrative of the state’s past. In Poland - regardless of time and political system - special attention was paid to creating a calendar of holidays and anniversaries, and the manner they were celebrated. These festivities were and are still considered to be fundamental tools used in Polish politics of history, both at statewide and local level. Their importance in the regions can - depending on how the local elites exercise their powers - vary from much larger in relation to the central state level to entirely negligible. The aim of this study is to present mechanisms and tools used by local authorities in building an appropriate historical narrative using just those tools.

Opis:

Immeasurable symbolic values of a local space constitute the basis and motive for designing mental maps. Mental maps consist of universal elements (e.g. communication paths, area borders) and particular geographical categories (e.g. world directions, known and characteristic towns). The latter are the centre of connotations, and the source of metaphors for characterising local cultural areas at the level of mental maps. The analysis of Bielsko-Biała reveals representations of this town as Manchester, Vienna, and Berlin, as well as the representations of the fragments of spaces of other town such as Paris and New York. In each scale and in each case, mental maps reflect the socio-cultural characteristic of the local space.

Artykuł dotyczy roli zaufania w życiu społecznym. Autorka powołuje się na prace R. Hardina, E. M. Uslanera i P. Sztompki. Rozważa problem zaufania w kontekście interesów i korzyści, a także ryzyka. Analizie zostały poddane dwa rodzaje zaufania: strategiczne i normatywne. Zdaniem autorki, moralny wymiar zaufania przywiązuje nas do wspólnoty i pozwala rozwiązywać problemy związane z podejmowaniem działań zbiorowych.
The article pertains to trust in social life. The author refers to works of R. Hardin, E. M. Ulsner and P. Sztompka. She considers the problem of trust in the context of interests and profits as well as risks. Two kinds of trust have been analyzed, namely strategic and normative trust. In the author’s opinion moral aspect of trust binds us to the community and allows to solve problems related to undertaking collective actions.

Opis:

In Poland, for several years strong expansion of cities into a rural areas has been observed. The pace and scale of these changes create a lot of spatial conflicts, as well as the cultural landscape of rural areas being irreversible transformations. Currently, most of the decisions relating to the shape and landscape protection is taken within the municipal planning documents. The aim of the study is identification of factors integrating and disintegrating space of single-family residential in the Poznan suburban area. The objective is realized by analyzing the records of local plans and verification of their performance based on the specific case of two housing complexes.
W Polsce od kilkunastu lat obserwuje się silną ekspansję miast na tereny wiejskie. Tempo i skala tych zmian powoduje wiele konfliktów przestrzennych, tym samym kulturowy krajobraz obszarów wiejskich ulega nieodwracalnym przekształceniom. Obecnie większość decyzji dotyczących kształtowania i ochrony krajobrazu jest podejmowana w ramach gminnych dokumentów planistycznych. Celem opracowania jest rozpoznanie czynników integrujących i dezintegrujących przestrzeń jednorodzinnej zabudowy mieszkaniowej w strefie podmiejskiej miasta Poznania. Wyznaczony cel był realizowany poprzez analizę zapisów MPZP oraz weryfikację ich wykonania w oparciu o przypadek dwóch konkretnych zespołów mieszkaniowych.

Artykuł porusza problematykę dostosowania przestrzeni terapeutycznej do potrzeb i możliwości dzieci z umiarkowaną i znaczną niepełnosprawnością intelektualną. W oparciu o bioekologiczną teorię systemów Bronfenbrennera omówiona została rola przestrzeniarchitektonicznej, lokalnej, domowej, w jakiej funkcjonuje dziecko w jego stymulacji rozwojowej. Wyjaśniono terminy aranżacja przestrzeni i projektowanie uniwersalne wraz z zasadami towarzyszącymi kreowaniu bezpiecznej i dostępnej dla osób z niepełnosprawnością przestrzeni. Szczególne miejsce poświęcono budowaniu przyjaznego środowiska lokalnego z uwzględnieniem architektury krajobrazu, budynku, wnętrza, ale też społecznego wymiaru funkcjonowania dziecka.
This article addresses the issue of adapting therapeutic space to the needs and abilities of children with moderate and severe intellectual disabilities. Based on Bronfenbrenner's bio-ecological systems theory, the role of the architectural, home and local space in which the child functions in his/her developmental stimulation is discussed. The term space arrangement and universal design are explained together with the principles accompanying the creation of safe and accessible space for people with disabilities. Special attention is paid to building a friendly local environment taking into account the architecture of the surrounding, building, interior, but also the social dimension of the child's functioning.

Obecnie w prężnie rozwijających się miastach, obserwowany jest problem tzw. „Miejskiej Wyspy Ciepła”. Problem przegrzewających się przestrzeni zurbanizowanych wymusił niejako stosowanie rozwiązań służących poprawie lokalnych mikroklimatów. W rozwiązaniach urbanistycznych i architektonicznych XXI wieku zarówno zieleń, jak i woda coraz częściej wpisuje się na stałe w nowoczesne rozwiązania. Mają one istotny wpływ na projekty zwłaszcza te, które ubiegają się o certyfikaty energooszczędności oraz służą poprawie warunków życia lokalnych społeczności. W wielu krajach, zastosowanie tych rozwiązań wiąże się też z kulturą i tradycją. Na przykład w Syrii wewnętrzne ogrody z elementami zbiorników wodnych na stałe wpisane są w historyczne rozwiązania. We Włoszech czy Francji, też trudno sobie wyobrazić przestrzenie miejskie czy obiekty bez zastosowania zieleni i wody. Zmieniający się klimat na Ziemi spowodował, że i w Polsce coraz częściej stosuje zieleń i wodę w nowoczesnych rozwiązaniach.
In many urbanized and developing cities we are observing the overheating of urban spaces commonly referred to as the Urban Heat Island effect. This pattern is forcing the development of innovative urban and architectural microclimate based solutions using both greenery and water to meet the energy efficiency certifications and to improve the living conditions of the local communities. The use of greenery and water elements in the design of cities and other public spaces has been commonplace in many civilizations and often associated with local cultures and traditions. As an example internal gardens using water reservoirs are used commonly in historic buildings and spaces in Syria. In Italy or France, it is difficult to imagine public places without the use of greenery and water. As a reaction to the mounting evidence of the effects of the Earth’s climate change, Polish designers are called to consider the use of greenery and water as part of present urban and architecture solutions.

Źrodłem rozważań są etnograficzne obserwacje, ktore poczyniłam w Lanckoronie, jednej z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych i popularnych miejscowości Małopolski. Do ich tworzenia i interpretacji wybrałam autoetnograficzną perspektywę jako najbardziej adekwatną do mojej sytuacji badawczej – etnologa mającego osobiste związki z analizowaną rzeczywistością społeczno-kulturową. Lanckorona jest przykładem ścierania się przychodzących z zewnątrz elementow nowoczesnych z tradycyjnymi, ktorych wypadkową jest odmienne doświadczanie, przeżywanie i wartościowanie przestrzeni lokalnej. Prowadzi to do kulturowych napięć ujawniających się w relacjach: autochtoni – przybysze – turyści. W tym kontekście rozważam swoj status w Lanckoronie.
The source of my considerations are the ethnographic observations I made in Lanckorona, one of the most recognizable and popular localities in Małopolska. For their creation and interpretation, I chose the autoethnographic perspective as the most appropriate to my research situation - an ethnologist having personal connections with the analyzed socio-cultural reality. Lanckorona is an example of a clash of modern elements coming from the outside with traditional ones, the result of which is a different experience, feeling and evaluation of local space. This leads to tensions that appeared in the relations: autochthons – strangers – tourists. In this context, I consider my status in Lanckorona.

In the 1990s in Poland a reform of local administration was implemented. As a result of this reform, territorial division of the country was from now on of a three-stage nature, with local government units on each of the mentioned stages. Local government encompasses municipalities and counties, whereas regional government encompasses voivodeships. Local government in general is nonhierarchical as each unit’s independence is protected by law. By introducing such a division into two levels of local government an inefficient, problematic and halting local development system was created, through which the managing of local public space became scattered. Its structure goes against the Polish and the European tradition of forming local government, as well as against currents in local government changes in modern European countries. The system was criticized even before its final implementation. Numerous empirical studies and systemic-legal analysis prove its irrationality. Over 15 years of functioning of said division point to the need of another reform.

W przestrzeni miasta szczególną rolę pełni przestrzeń publiczna, wokół której skupione są funkcje najważniejsze dla społeczności lokalnej. W artykule przedstawiono różne formy takiej przestrzeni oraz kształtującej ją architektury, na przykładzie trzech warszawskich dzielnic o bardzo odmiennej historii i architekturze – Ursynowa, Wilanowa i Pragi Północ. Analiza porównawcza została oparta na studium przypadku, związanym z programem Warszawskich Centrów Lokalnych, rozpoczętym w 2015 roku. Do pogłębionych badań wybrano 3 spośród 17 ujętych w programie dzielnic. Wyniki analizy pozwalają na wyciągnięcie możliwych do uogólnienia wniosków dotyczących wpływu architektury i układów urbanistycznych na funkcjonowanie przestrzeni publicznej i jej rolę w życiu lokalnych społeczności. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na kwestie estetyki oraz potencjału rozwoju lokalnej aktywności społecznej i gospodarczej.
Public space plays an important role in the cities, especially a space concentrating the functions important for local communities. In the paper, the author presents various forms of such space and of the architecture which is shaping it, located in three Warsaw districts (Ursynow, Wilanow, North Praga) very different in regard to their urban form and their history. The presented case studies represent part of the municipal programme Warsaw Local Centres, initiated in 2015 comprising 17 districts. Findings regarding the three chosen districts allow to propose more general conclusions about the influence of the architecture and urban form on local public space and life of local communities. Main findings concern aesthetics and ground for local social and economic development.

Shaping a safe space is an extremely complex and multi-faceted process. To large extent, it is based on the cooperation with various entities of the local community, participating in mutual interdependencies within local economies and above all, in the local socio-economic development. In modern realities, activity geared toward making changes in physical space and initiating programs to promote mobilization of society to improve safety takes on particular importance. Crime prevention strategies through shaping space are presented from the perspective of typical bodies which are to ensure safety and the local government as the main entity coordinating these processes in the local section. The article assumes the thesis that spatial conditions determine safety. The objective of this article is to show the importance of a safe space in the local context.

Zwraca uwagę na organizację harcerską, ochotnicze straże pożarne, kluby sportowe, lokalne stowarzyszenia, grupy działające przy kościele, a także na organizacje funkcjonujące w ramach instytucji publicznych i grupy nieformalne (koleżeńskie). Charakterystyka organizacji poprzedzona jest definicją pojęć oraz krótkim opisem regionu. W podsumowaniu autor wskazuje na warunki sprzyjające przygotowaniu młodych ludzi do aktywnego uczestnictwa w życiu społecznym: odpowiednią przestrzeń, lokalnych liderów oraz sprzyjające aktywności młodzieży władze lokalne.
The article contains characteristic of formal and non-formal youth organizations in selected municipalities of Malopolska. The author wonders how NGOs are preparing young people for an active adulthood. He notes various organizations: scouts, voluntary fire fighters, sport clubs, associations open to youth, church organizations, organizations functioning in the public institutions and non-formal groups. There are definitions of key words and description of the region in the beginning of the text. In summary the author points out conditions for the preparation of young people for active participation in social life: adequate space, local leaders and promoting youth activity local authorities.

Due to rapid urbanization, urban open spaces are becoming increasingly significant, both in the inhabitants’ daily and societal lives. This significance is even more applicable for the densely populated city of Dhaka, which has historically overseen numerous urban migrations. Regretfully, the inhabitants of Dhaka can access only a few urban recreational facilities, public open spaces in particular. Due to illegal encroachment, low maintenance, and rigid policymaking, those limited number of open spaces are becoming gradually deteriorated and are in the potential danger of greater extinction soon. The Hatirjheel wetland area inside Dhaka has recently been restored as an important public open space to connect the city’s green-blue network. Accessibility is a significant spatial parameter to judge its potential success. This research analysed how accessibility would optimize the multi-scalar relationship between neighbourhoods and urban activities. With use a series of syntactic analyses, it was also searched for the Hatirjheel wetland’s potentials as an active urban open space to accelerate local and global activity. The possible weaknesses behind those open spaces’ inactiveness were investigated both theoretically and practically. Finally, some recommendations were suggested by analysing these circumstances in aim to improve the current conditions and obtain optimum benefits from the existing open space.

In this paper a small time local controllability, naturally defined in a configuration space, is transferred into a task-space. It was given its analytical characterization and practical implcations. A special attention was put on singular configurations. Theoretical considerations were illustrated with two calculation examples. An extensive comparison of the proposed construction with the controllability defined in an endogenous configuration space approach was presented pointing out to their advantages and disadvantages.

Celem pracy jest ocena koncepcji rewitalizacji przestrzennej i społecznej osiedla Stary Fordon w Bydgoszczy w nawiązaniu do historii tego miejsca oraz zmian społecznych, a także ukazanie wszelkich działań, które zostały już w tym kierunku poczynione. Zakres czasowy pracy obejmuje lata 2014–2016. Główne prace polegały na kwerendzie materiałów źródłowych oraz przeprowadzeniu ankiety z mieszkańcami. W efekcie stwierdzono, że Stary Fordon to obszar o dużej wartości i potencjale, który dotyczy zarówno zasobów przestrzeni, jak i lokalnej społeczności. Ogólna ocena obecnie obowiązującej koncepcji rewitalizacji jest pozytywna. Trzeba jednak przyznać, że projekt nie spełnia wszystkich potrzeb mieszkańców. The aim of the work is to evaluate the concept of spatial and social revitalization of the Stary Fordon housing estate in Bydgoszcz in reference to the history of this place and social changes, as well as to show all activities that have already been undertaken in this direction. The time frame of the work covers the years 2014-2016. The main tasks consisted in carrying out a query of source materials and conducting a survey with residents. As a result, it was stated that Stary Fordon is an area of high value and potential, which concerns both the resources of space and the local community. The overall assessment of the current revitalization concept is positive. However, it must be admitted that the project does not meet all the needs of the residents. It appears that it is mainly soft social activities which should be developed.

We study the local structure of a separated point \(x\) in the generalized Orlicz-Lorentz space \(\Lambda ^{\varphi }\) which is a symmetrization of the respective Musielak-Orlicz space \(L^{\varphi }\). We present criteria for an \(LM\) point and a \(\mathit{UM}\) point, and sufficient conditions for a point of order continuity and an \(\mathit{LLUM}\) point, in the space \(\Lambda ^{\varphi }\). We prove also a characterization of strict monotonicity of the space \(\Lambda ^{\varphi }\).

Odpowiada na dwa pytania: Jakie jest zróżnicowanie ocen znaczenia wskazywanych elementów dla jakości życia mieszkańców? Jaka jest faktyczna hierarchia zindywidualizowanych potrzeb mieszkańców sześciu miast w zakresie zagospodarowania ich przestrzeni mieszkaniowej? W opracowaniu wykorzystano wyniki badań ankietowych na temat wartościowania przestrzeni mieszkaniowej, przeprowadzone wśród 1 500 mieszkańców sześciu miast o zróżnicowanej organizacji przestrzeni mieszkaniowej.
The study contains information about evaluation of components in/of development of public housing space – in the opinions of urban residents. It provides answers – How different are assessments of selected elements, essential for quality of inhabitants’ life? What is the actual hierarchy of individualized needs of the residents of six cities in the subject of residential space development of their cities? The results of questionnaire surveys about the valuation of residential space, conducted among 1,500 inhabitants 6 cities with diverse organization living space, were used in this study.

Zarządzanie przestrzenią jest kluczowe dla właściwego planowania rozwoju miast. Z kolei planowanie przestrzenne służy skutecznej gospodarce przestrzenią, która jest podstawowym, lecz ograniczonym w wielkości zasobem naturalnym. Narzędziem, które z powodzeniem może być wykorzystane w obu przypadkach jest lokalny program rewitalizacji – dokument wyznaczający kierunki kompleksowej odnowy przestrzenno-gospodarczo-społecznej, pozwalający władzom samorządowym oraz innym uprawnionym beneficjentom pozyskać środki z Europejskiego Funduszu Rozwoju Regionalnego. W celu wdrożenia lokalnego programu rewitalizacji konieczny jest monitoring efektów rzeczowych projektu oraz wydatków ponoszonych na ich realizację. W proces rewitalizacji powinna zostać także włączona lokalna społeczność. Kluczowa jest właściwa komunikacja, zapewniająca dostęp do pełnej informacji o programie i umożliwiająca społeczności lokalnej wyrażanie własnych opinii.
The management of urban space can be a key factor in the process of development of towns/cities. Spatial planning – being a factor that decides about achieving permanent and sustainable development – serves to cautiously manage the space, which is a basic but limited resource. One of the tools for the above-mentioned activities is a local revitalisation programme – a document showing directions of the complex spatial, economic and social renovation/restoration of the area. The document allows local authorities and other entitled assignees to obtain funds from European Regional Development Fund. In order to implement a local revitalisation programme, the monitoring of project effects and costs spent on their realization is necessary. A local community should be included in the process of revitalisation. Communication, ensuring the access to the information on the local revitalisation programme and serving a local community to express its opinion, is a key element.

The theory of economics comprises a variety of approaches and schools of thought that result from the range and manner of analyzing economic reality. The diversity of methods used to asses economic processes encourages one to specify a certain number of research methods from the perspective of their essence and significance in the economic theory. The aim of the paper is to characterize selected aspects of economics in terms of the way in which economic processes are presented. The authors mention three perspectives: institutional, Austrian and neoclassical – all of them crucial for presenting the most important issues in the theory of economics. Obviously, the presented assessment of the importance of these approaches is selective and focuses solely on certain issues. It, nevertheless, seems interesting both because of the used instruments and of its theoretical value.

Opis:

This research aims at introducing a clear, sustainable framework for brownfield regeneration that focuses on the role of community in urban regeneration. The town of Al-Fuheis, Jordan, is losing its shine under clouds of dust and chemical emissions. It needs regeneration so that social and economic struggles can be simultaneously addressed through innovative regeneration. In order to reach this goal, a qualitative analysis was presented to introduce the general framework of brownfield regeneration. The structure of the framework depends on the researcher’s interpretation. Purposive sampling was used in this part of the study to involve the local community in taking decisions concerning regeneration. Their decisions must be considered during the master plan development. The brownfield regeneration model is summarized in a clear diagram. The results of a questionnaire analysis show the effective role of community to participate in urban regeneration. Applying the brownfield regeneration framework enhances the social, environmental, and economic value.

Artykuł stanowi opis przedsięwzięcia, które należy określić mianem warsztatów partycypacyjnych przeprowadzonych w celu stworzenia, a następnie wyboru najlepszej koncepcji zagospodarowania przestrzeni publicznej w Krakowie. Casus ten jest wielce pouczający z kilku powodów. Pierwszym, jest forma i konstrukcja przedsięwzięcia, która w Krakowie nie miała najlepszych doświadczeń. Drugim, i w kontekście niniejszej pracy najważniejszym powodem, jest ujawnienie się zarysów potrzeb oraz oczekiwań mieszkańców i użytkowników przestrzeni miejskiej i ich artykulacja w postaci pomysłów zgłaszanych do projektu. Ich analiza podpowiada, jakie koncepcje i rozwiązania estetyczne są pozytywnie widziane przez społeczność, która na co dzień nie zajmuje się profesjonalnym projektowaniem przestrzeni publicznych. Jak wykazały badania, mieszkańcy i użytkownicy pragną przestrzeni charakteryzującej się rozpoznawalnym i wyróżniającym się na tle innych obiektów krajobrazem, przy jednoczesnym nie odcinaniu się od korzeni kulturowych i tradycji lokalnej. Artykuł tworzy źródło wiedzy opartej na doświadczeniu, a odnoszącej się do zagadnień związanych z projektowaniem krajobrazu miejskiego, szczególnie przestrzeni publicznych o miejskim charakterze. Tym niemniej wnioski mają charakter uniwersalny i mogą służyć także w innych przypadkach oraz skalach.
The paper is a description of the project, which should be described as participatory workshops carried out in order to creation and then selection the best development concept of public space in Kraków. The case is very instructive for several reasons. The first is the form and construction of the project, which in Kraków was not the best experience. The second, and in the context of this work the most important reason is to reveal the outline of the needs and expectations of residents and users of urban spaces and their articulation in the form of ideas contributed to the project. Analysis of case suggests that concepts and aesthetic solutions are positively seen by the community (not engaged in professional design of public spaces). Research has shown that residents and users want space characterized by a recognizable and distinctive from while not cutting off the roots of culture and local tradition. Article creates a source of knowledge based on experience and relating to the issues related to the design of the urban landscape, especially the public spaces of the urban character. Nevertheless, the findings are universal and can be used in other cases, and scales.
