In the paper a possibility of in-process inspection of gear and spline shafts during forming was discussed. Different methods of forming toothed elements were discussed as well as the other technologies were mentioned. Coordinate measurement technique as a way of post process inspection was presented. However, it is not possible to use it for checking features during forming process. To do it different sensors were used and their combinations were described.

When a frequency domain sensor is under the effect of an input stimulus, there is a frequency shift at its output. One of the most important advantages of such sensors is their converting a physical input parameter into time variations. In consequence, changes of an input stimulus can be quantified very precisely, provided that a proper frequency counter/meter is used. Unfortunately, it is well known in the time-frequency metrology that if a higher accuracy in measurements is needed, a longer time for measuring is required. The principle of rational approximations is a method to measure a signal frequency. One of its main properties is that the time required for measuring decreases when the order of an unknown frequency increases. In particular, this work shows a new measurement technique, which is devoted to measuring the frequency shifts that occur in frequency domain sensors. The presented research result is a modification of the principle of rational approximations. In this work a mathematical analysis is presented, and the theory of this new measurement method is analysed in detail. As a result, a new formalism for frequency measurement is proposed, which improves resolution and reduces the measurement time.

For a bounded linear operator on a Banach space, we study approximation of the spectrum and pseudospectra in the Hausdorff distance. We give sufficient and necessary conditions in terms of pointwise convergence of appropriate spectral quantities.

W artykule omówiono doświadczenia z dwóch lat prowadzenia przedmiotu „Arytmetyka finansowa” dla studentów wybranych kierunków na Wydziale Budownictwa, Architektury i Inżynierii Środowiska Politechniki Łódzkiej. Przedstawiono trudności i pomysły na ich przezwyciężenie, przede wszystkim w kontekście pracy zdalnej. Podano sposoby motywowania studentów pokolenia Z (ery cyfrowej) do aktywnego udziału w procesie zdalnego uczenia się.
In the article the experience of two years of teaching the "Financial Arithmetic" course for students of selected faculties at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering of the Łódź University of Technology is discussed. The authors were teaching this subject for two consecutive years. Due to the pandemic, the learning was conducted remotely. This resulted in many additional difficulties, including keeping students engaged and fair verification of their achievements. On the other hand, the fact that each of the students had their own computer with an accessible spreadsheet let the teachers to expand the practical part significantly. In the article difficulties and ideas for overcoming them were presented, mainly in the context of remote work. Some ways of motivating students of "Z generation" to actively participate in the process were given. Between them the project of the construction of student's own business plan was tested and described. The last part of the article presents plans for future improvements.

W ciągu ostatnich dekad powstało około 100 różnych wskaźników służących do oceny wpływu warunków meteorologicznych na samopoczucie człowieka. W 2009 roku, wysiłkiem międzynarodowego zespołu badawczego, powstał nowy wskaźnik termiczny - UTCI (Universal Thermal Climate Index). Wskaźnik ten jest przejawem nowego podejścia w badaniach biometeorologicznych, gdyż w odróżnieniu od tradycyjnych wskaźników, uwzględnia skomplikowane procesy termoregulacyjne organizmu człowieka. Niniejsze opracowanie stanowi jedną z pierwszych prób oceny klimatu odczuwalnego Warszawy z zastosowaniem wskaźnika UTCI. W opracowaniu wykorzystane zostały codzienne dane meteorologiczne ze stacji Warszawa-Okęcie z wielolecia 2000-2009.

Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, że zarówno w czasie produkcji, jak i składowania następuje migracja metali ciężkich, w tym ołowiu i kadmu z maszyn, aparatów i opakowań do produktów spożywczych. Problem ten jak dotychczas jest słabo poznany, stąd też prowadzenie badań w tej dziedzinie jest ze wszech miar celowe.
The research undertaken has demonstrated that there occurs the migration of heavy metals, including lead and cadmium, from machinery and packagings to food products both in the time of processing and storing. This issue has not been thoroughty analyzed so far. Thus, the attempts to carry out further research in the field are well justified and purposeful.

It can be taken for granted that the names of Polish companies quite clearly indicate the era in which they operate. Enterprises were called differently in the years 1944-1970, when marketing was considered both as an obstacle and economically not necessary. In 1971- 1989, the naming of Polish companies was something intermediate between recognition of marketing principles and bureaucratic principles of a centrally planned economy. After 1990, many Polish companies try to be as similar as possible to Western fashions, with particular emphasis on the Anglo-Saxon circle. They often give up the attractions of regionalism.

Overexertion and pain of the musculoskeletal system may occur partly owing to load application by the equipment. Both the weight of equipment and the duration of loading are relevant. The aim of the present study was to examine the extent of loading and resultant strain in the trunk muscles. Therefore, the trunk posture of soldiers and muscular activity in reaction to different equipment components (helmet, load-carrying equipment, gun and backpack) were evaluated. Electromyography was performed and a visual assessment of body axis was conducted based on standardised planar images. Data indicate that the activity of the trunk muscles examined (latissimus dorsi, trapezius and pectoralis major) is dependent on the weight and distribution of the equipment components. Activity in the trapezius muscle, for instance, was doubled during specific load application. Moreover, the method of carrying the rifle had a significant influence on the activity of the trapezius muscle (one-sided decrease of activity by 50%). Subjects were able to stabilise the body axis in the coronal plane through increased muscle activity, however, in the sagittal plane a compensatory ventral inclination of the body was observed. Uneven load distribution can lead to an irregular strain on the musculoskeletal system.

In their recent paper "The spectral norm of a Horadam circulant matrix", Merikoski, Haukkanen, Mattila and Tossavainen study under which conditions the spectral norm of a general real circulant matrix C equals the modulus of its row/column sum. We improve on their sufficient condition until we have a necessary one. Our results connect the above problem to positivity of sufficiently high powers of the matrix CTC. We then generalize the result to complex circulant matrices.
