W artykule autor zaprezentował wyniki swoich badań poświęconych ocenie rozwoju szwedzkiego handlu detalicznego. Szczególnym przedmiotem zainteresowania autora był wpływ polityki finansowej państwa na kierunki rozwoju handlu detalicznego w Szwecji, a zwłaszcza na kształtowanie jego form. Autor omawia rolę planowania sieci detalicznej oraz niektóre metody porównań alternatywnych rozwiązań służących optymalizacji sieci detalicznej z punk tu widzenia konsumenta oraz innych ogniw dystrybucji. Podkreśla, że ocena systemu dystrybucji winna być dokonywana nie tylko w aspekcie wykonywanych funkcji i zadań, ale winna również uwzględniać warunki, w jakich system ten działa.

Opis:
An inequality, which generalizes and unifies some recently proved Carlson type inequalities, is proved. The inequality contains a certain number of "blocks" and it is shown that these blocks are, in a sense, optimal and cannot be removed or essentially changed. The proof is based on a special equivalent representation of a concave function (see [6, pp. 320-325]). Our Carlson type inequality is used to characterize Peetre's interpolation functor $⟨⟩_{φ}$ (see [26]) and its Gagliardo closure on couples of functional Banach lattices in terms of the Calderón-Lozanovskiǐ construction. Our interest in this functor is inspired by the fact that if $φ = t^{θ}(0 < θ < 1)$, then, on couples of Banach lattices and their retracts, it coincides with the complex method (see [20], [27]) and, thus, it may be regarded as a "real version" of the complex method.

There are given necessary and sufficient conditions on a measure dμ(x)=w(x)dx under which the key estimates for the distribution and rearrangement of the maximal function due to Riesz, Wiener, Herz and Stein are valid. As a consequence, we obtain the equivalence of the Riesz and Wiener inequalities which seems to be new even for the Lebesgue measure. Our main tools are estimates of the distribution of the averaging function f** and a modified version of the Calderón-Zygmund decomposition. Analogous methods allow us to obtain K-functional formulas in terms of the maximal function for couples of weighted $L_p$-spaces.

Opis:
Mitochondrial respiration is considered to provide reactive oxygen species (ROS) as byproduct of regular electron transfer. Objections were raised since results obtained with isolated mitochondria are commonly transferred to activities of mitochondria in the living cell. High electrogenic membrane potential was reported to trigger formation of mitochondrial ROS involving complex I and III. Suggested bioenergetic parameters, starting ROS formation, widely change with the isolation mode. ROS detection systems generally applied may be misleading due to possible interactions with membrane constituents or electron carriers. Avoiding these problems no conditions reported to transform mitochondrial respiration to a radical source were confirmed. However, changing the physical membrane state affected the highly susceptible interaction of the ubiquinol/bc1 redox complex such that ROS formation became possible.

The objective of this article is to further examine Nordic media systems beyond the tenta- tive Democratic Corporativist Model introduced by media scholars Daniel C. Hallin and Paolo Man- cini in their important work Comparing Media Systems. Three Models of Media and Politics. Further- more, the article discusses distinct features of media and politics-relations in the Nordic countries and attempts to identify key factors constraining or promoting a possible liberalization or hybridization of the media systems in Nordic countries. The empirical data is based on a secondary analysis of avail- able media statistics in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. A comparative approach is used to analyze whether the Nordic countries actually meet the standards of the Democratic Corporativist Model or if they are drifting towards a more liberal media model. The main conclusion of this article is that the Nordic media systems are becoming more liberal due to diminished influences from gov- ernments and political parties. However, traditional Nordic media institutions remain strong and have been successful in adapting to new conditions thus creating new hybrids of the Nordic and the Lib- eral media models.

As a result of the general growth in the interest in narratives different conception of what a story is and how to analyze has emerged. One especially interesting and methodological relevant difference is between the conception of narratives as textual objects and narratives as part of a storytelling event. The paper discusses the theoretical differences between these two analytical approaches to narratives. An example from my own research on Alzheimer’s patients telling stories illustrate the possibilities of using a performative and micro ethnographic approach to the study of storytelling in order to understand the functions of narratives – especially in relation to identity work. If stories not only are thought of as representations of events it becomes possible to view stories and story telling as social action: social states are both established, negotiated and changed through stories. This is especially important in the field of health and illness where diseases almost always are embedded in conversations and the telling of why and how symptoms were discovered or traumas received. For many patients and persons with especially communicative disabilities story telling is a challenge, but also an opportunity to actually master, maintain and often transform their identities.

This article discusses the development of election campaign communications in Sweden. The article analyzes whether political campaign communication in Sweden is heavily influenced by international trends, and if some distinctive national features still prevail. The mixture of liberal and social responsibility media system traditions in the Swedish society is used as a theoretical point of departure. Additionally, empirical data from the latest Swedish national elections on party communi- cation, media coverage and web communication are presented and new communication trends are analyzed.

Public Service Broadcasting has been a distinct feature of the media systems in the Nordic countries. In the perspective of media policy the Nordic countries have shared common features such as universality regarding content and reach independence from government, funding by licence fee and no advertising. A press run in accordance with free market principles has been an equally important feature, making the systems highly mixed regarding governance and control. The last decades the PSBs have faced competition from an increasing number of purely commercial broadcasters as well as hybrid PSBs. Even more recently the PSBs are facing challenges from multimedia technologies and markets. Are these new challenges and opportunities changing media policy and the PSBs position in the media systems? Or is new technology being shaped to fit traditional public service ideas? The results from this analysis indicate that the PSBs to some extent have flirted with the commercial aspects of new multimedia technologies, but partly these experiments have been called off by widening the concept of PSBs to public service media, and partly the financial payoffs have been miniscule and also have produced heavy criticism. What has come out of these processes seems to be a confirmation of the basic values of the public service mission.
