    Opis:
    Le mot désignant la première boisson de notre vie paraît peu original comme objet d’intérêt. Mais puisqu’il est des plus courants et connu de tous, nous présentons son fonctionnement dans le sens premier et dans d’autres acceptions dans le registre standard, dans la langue technique, dans le sens figuré ; nous observons les formations dérivées et composées et les expressions phraséologiques françaises et polonaises avec lait / mleko. Nous évoquons le lien entre le lait et le vin, présent uniquement en français et visible à travers quelques expressions. Nous essayons d’en tirer une image sémantique du mot et son emploi dans les expressions à partir des dictionnaires anciens et modernes français et polonais. Ce substantif concret, pouvant être compté parmi les universaux de la langue, ne présente pas de champ synonymique développé mais seulement quelques emplois métonymiques et métaphoriques qui nous paraissent néanmoins mériter une réflexion relative aux deux langues.
    The name of what is usually the first drink in our lives does not seem to be a very original object of interest. However, it belongs to a group of well-known and widely used words, and, therefore, I would like to look at its functioning. I intend to look into its basic general meaning and linguistics behind it, but I also want to explore the meaning of figurative (metaphorical) compositions and phrase expressions connected with the word ‘milk’ in French and in Polish respectively. I will try to outline the meaning of the word ‘milk’ / ‘mleko’ based on both old and contemporary French and Polish dictionaries. I will refer to the link between wine and milk, which is present in French only and visible through some of the expressions. This concrete noun, which can be classified among language universals, does not offer any sophisticated synonymy. However, several metonymic and metaphorical applications deserve attention.

    Opis:
    The article proposes to analyze the semantic network of the noun “milk” in the corpus comprised of seven novels by Claude Simon wrote after 1957, in a period of his fascination with formal experiments, and published by Editions de Minuit. Interest of the paper is focused on the representation of human being (especially of women) as an organism with milky traits which connects it closely to the aquatic element. The reflections on the watery character of man are based on the work of French philosopher Gaston Bachelard and his conception of the four elements.

    Dans cet article nous analysons des collocations qui constituent la suite DET N1 de N2 et servent  à exprimer habituellement une (très) petite quantité ou une quantité minime de liquide. Les paraphrases de ce type de collocations données par les dictionnaires de langue comme ‘petite quantité de N’, ‘un peu de N’ ne renvoient qu’à une partie du sens apporté par ces quantifieurs nominaux dont le sens exact est beaucoup plus complexe et nuancé. Par exemple, une pointe de whisky indique non seulement une petite quantité d’alcool mais désigne aussi une intensité faible de son goût. De même, la combinatoire de ces collocatifs attestée par les dictionnaires de langue n’est pas aussi large que celle confirmée par l’usage écrit récent dans les textes provenant des données numérisées. Ces données permettent de distinguer quelques types de N2 d’après la nature des objets de référence qu’ils désignent (cf. toutes sortes de boissons (y compris les alcools) ou toutes sortes de produits liquides mais aussi les produits massifs alimentaires ou non alimentaires et les idées abstraites – sentiments, émotions, etc. et même, ce qui peut paraître surprenant, les styles musicaux).
    In this paper, I wish to present the analysis of collocations DET N1`de1` N2 in French, which is usually used to denote small or minimal amounts of a liquid. Dictionary paraphrases of the collocation referring to a ‘small amount of N` (fr. `petite quantitè de N) ) or ‘some N`(fr. `un peu de N) do not always describe the meaning and value of these expressions accurately. For example, ‘une pointe de whisky’ indicates not only a very small amounts of alcohol, but also a delicate touch of taste and, thus, a low degree of its intensity. Also the connectivity of DET N 1`de` with N2 described in dictionaries differs from the one found in the actual contemporary text use. DET N1`de` connects not only with nouns that mean different types of drinks (including alcohol/alcoholic) or liquids, but also with nouns denoting non-countable solids or abstract concepts referring most often to feelings and emotions as well as, surprisingly, music.
