    The world of nature, understood as a space for human existence, is perceived in different perspectives and categories. From an economic point of view, it can be treated as a source of raw materials and monetary profits, while in a humanistic or ethical perspective as a space for the implementation of human aspirations and expectations. In parallel, concepts of the natural environment have their three perspectives: global, national and local. Each of them reflects different communities, needs, and possibilities of action. In this context, the forest in the perspective of a big city, due to its location between the independence of nature and the influence of human civilization, appears as a specific creation of the natural world. It is more a part of the human life environment than a fully autonomous creation of nature. The proximity of the city, functioning within its borders or borderland makes it dependent on human activities. Even if a person does not shape themselves for their recreational needs, they are exposed to the influence of factors that destroy nature. The integration of the forest with the everyday space of man causes the need to adapt the forest space to the needs of residents. Even if these are ‘forest−friendly’ interventions, from a human point of view (such as thematic paths, boards, trails, viewpoints), they are a disturbance to the natural environment. The scope of the article includes a review of various concepts and visions explaining the nature of the human−natural environment relationship. The main objective was to show the special role of the forest functioning in the space of a big city. The adopted assumptions also allowed to outline the framework of a specific structure of forest perception, which was presented in the final part of the study.

    Почти во всех сферах современной жизни обнаруживаются трансформации, которые стимулируют далеко идущие социальные изменения, вызывая уменьшение национального, культурного и, наконец, религиозного единообразия постмодернистских обществ. Двадцать первый век приносит с собой идеи и явления, способствующие окончательному разрыву с досовременным миром, который, казалось, был создан и дан людям раз и навсегда. Постмодернистские общества, отвергающие религию, по крайней мере, в институциональном измерении, движутся в направлении, которое трудно понять однозначно. Ставя под сомнение моральные нормы, относящиеся к религии до современных обществ, нелегко построить аксиологию, которая позволила бы пересечь горизонт «эсхатологии» потребления.

    U podstawy współczesnego sporu o dopuszczalność przerywania ciąży leży de facto niepewność co do ontycznego, moralnego i prawnego statusu embrionu ludzkiego. Ustalenie kryteriów jakie powinna spełniać istota ludzka nie jest tylko czysto teoretycznym zagadnieniem, ale również palącym problemem mającym swoje odzwierciedlenie praktyczne. Prowadzenie refleksji nad dopuszczalnością przerywania ciąży wyłącznie na bazie najnowszych danych z zakresu embriologii wydaje się być pozbawione szerszej perspektywy. Tytułowy spór jest jednak tak stary, jak ludzka wiedza dająca możliwość przerwania rozwijającego się życia ludzkiego na etapie prenatalnym. Spojrzenie historyczne na byt znajdujący się w łonie matki pozwala na uchwycenie kluczowych akcentów tej dyskusji, które wywierają wpływ na kształt współczesnego dyskursu w tym zakresie. Odwoływanie się do źródeł refleksji filozoficzno-teologicznej ma również swoje implikacje normatywne. Formuła programowo-tematyczna periodyku wymaga także zwrócenia uwagi na edukacyjno-świadomościowe aspekty sporu o dopuszczalność przerywania ciąży w kontekście historycznym.
    The foundation of the contemporary contention of acceptance of aborting pregnancy is, de facto, the uncertainty concerning the ontic, moral and legal status of a human embryo. Setting the criteria that a human being must fulfill, is not merely a theoretical question but also a burning issue that has its reflection in practice. Reflecting upon the acceptability of aborting pregnancy exclusively on the basis of the latest data concerning embryology seems to be deprived of wider perspective. The given contention is as old as the human knowledge allowing to cease the developing human life at prenatal stage. The historic view on the being existing in mother’s womb allows to grasp the key aspects of the contention which influence the shape of the contemporary discourse in this field. Referring to the sources of philosophical - theological reflections has also its normative implications. The program and the ground of the periodical requires also drawing one’s attention to the aspects of education and awareness concerning the discourse, in historical context, on the acceptability of aborting pregnancy.

    Przedmiotem moich rozważań jest pytanie, czy wielokrotnie ogłaszana śmierć człowieka (podmiotu) przypieczętowała jego rzeczywisty kres, czy wręcz przeciwnie, zmusiła do gruntownego przemyślenia i zreorganizowania strategii obronnych w obrębie trwającego sporu. W tym celu analizie poddaję dwa główne paradygmaty pojmowania podmiotowości: monadyczny oraz relacyjny (dialogiczny). Następnie staram się wyjaśnić, na przykładzie koncepcji podmiotu dialektycznego Paula Ricoeura oraz filozofii Innego Emmanuela Lévinasa, powody, dla których należy zrezygnować z części prerogatyw, jakie przypisała podmiotowi nowożytność, jeśli chcemy, by dyskusja o subiektywności mogła w przyszłości się rozwijać. W artykule bronię tezy, że powrót do idei podmiotu nie oznacza powrotu podmiotu, lecz odejście od starych form myślenia na rzecz nowych ujęć. Waga konsekwencji usunięcia idei podmiotu znacznie przewyższa doniosłość satysfakcji płynącej z ostatecznego zamknięcia sporu.
    In the paper, the author asks whether what we have all heard over and over again of the “end of man” means the real end of man or, on the contrary, it has given rise to profound and necessary reevaluation of self-transparent subjectivity. The debate on the notion of selfhood has not been closed yet. The author analyzes two different approaches to the problem. One pertains to the “self ” that is taken as a monad. The other refers to dialogical theory of selfhood which, as she tries to explain, one may regard as a way of overcoming the essential problem with the constitution of ourselves. According to this, the author claims that it is necessary to reconsider the claims of modern philosophy. She suggests that many of the objections that have been made against subjectivity derive from the narrow view of philosophy in the 17th century.

    In the postmodern period we are dealing with many manifestations of marginaliza-tion, the understanding of which requires the use of a different language and different categories than those employed during the high phase of modernity. Giving an axiological meaning to the manifestations of marginalization in art is a comparatively recent phenomenon, a product of modernity. Divisions of art before and after its autonomization occur according to different rules. The article recounts the views of J. Habermas, C. Greenberg, and J. F. Lyotard on the central and the marginal in art, and it asks the question about their usefulness today in analyzing the phenomena of the marginal. To understand the ongoing paradigmatic change it might be advisable to consider the reflections of D. Mersch, who points out the ambivalent status of the concept of art and the avant-garde, which permits us to vindicate other concepts, for example that of the rearguard (arrière-garde). The age of modernity produced and already partly overcame the totalizing discourse on art, which condemned whole areas of artistic activity to exclusion. The size of the margins seen from this perspective turns out to be variable and dynamic, which calls into question the practice of giving an axiological meaning to the concept. The arguments for the change in thinking that take place in late modernity is the positive appreciation of events and individual experiences, the phenomena of the ephemeral as understood by G. Böhme, and the return to the idea of the whole built on different foundations.
    W epoce ponowoczesnej mamy do czynienia z wieloma przejawami marginalizacji, których zrozumienie domaga się użycia innego języka i innych kategorii niż w latach rozkwitu moder-nizmu. Nadanie aksjologicznego znaczenie przejawom marginalności w sztuce jest zjawiskiem stosunkowo młodym i jest wytworem modernizmu. Podziały w sztuce przed jej autonomizacją i po jej przekroczeniu przebiegają według innych zasad. W tekście przypomniano poglądy J. Habermasa, C. Greenberga, J.F. Lyotarda na temat tego, co w sztuce centralne i marginalne, by następnie zadać pytanie o ich przydatność do analizy zjawisk marginalności obecnie. Do zrozumienia dokonującej się zmiany paradygmatycznej pomocne być mogą refleksje D. Mer-scha, który zwraca uwagę na ambiwalentny status pojęcia sztuki i pojęcia awangardy, co po-zwala rehabilitować inne kategorie, jak na przykład pojęcie ariregrady. Epoka modernizmu wytworzyła i częściowo już przezwyciężyła totalizujące dyskursy o sztuce, które skazywały na wykluczenie całe obszary działalności artystycznej. Obszar marginesów widziany z tej per-spektywy okazuje się zmienny i dynamiczny, co stawia pod znakiem zapytania nadawanie znaczenia aksjologicznego pojęciu marginesów. Argumentami za dokonującą się zmianą w myś-leniu w okresie późnej nowoczesności jest pozytywne dowartościowanie zdarzeń i doświad-czeń jednostkowych, zjawisk efemeryczności, jak u G. Böhme, a także powrót do zbudowanej na innych podstawach idei całości.

    The theme of the article aims at interpreting the artistic creativity of Lidia Sztwiertnia – the sculptress from Bielsko-Biała – in the context of the philosophy of ‘multiplicity and unity of arts’. Multidimensional character of Sztwiernia’s sculpture has been underlined here along with its variety rooted in many disciplines – literature, philosophy and music – that results in creating a kind of ‘poetic spectacle’ of form and meaning.     The text develops selected aspects of the philosophical-existential issues evoked by the quotation from K. Gąsiorowski's poetry contained in the title of the article. First of all tautology of the poetic quasi-definition of the world presented in the fragment is a problem. Secondly, the impression of the triumph of philosophical context (especially of E. Husserl and M. Heidegger) of the meaning of the word “world” evoked in the analyzed phrase over its semantic content in the aesthetic dimension (over the reduction of the poetic function, bordering on banality) is a contentious issue. In the discussion of the latter of these problems – limited because of the requirement concerning the brevity of the article – the category of “the third man” as a social construct formulated by Gąsiorowski – will prove helpful.

    Der Artikel handelt über das Problem der philosophischen Kontexte im in Dresden geschriebenen Werk Dziady. Der wesentlichste von ihnen ist der Gedanke von Jakub Boehme. In manchen Fragen sind die Zusammenhänge grundlegend für die Auslegung der zweiten Szene des Dramas. Mein Endziel ist es jedoch nicht auf sie hinzuweisen, denn sie dienen einer mehr detaillierten Beschreibung der Gestalt des Konrad, seines Verhältnisses zu Gott und der Betrachtungen des Helden zum Problem des Bösen in der Welt. Eines der Hauptprobleme im III. Teil des Werks Dziady ist nämlich ein Konflikt, der aus der Schwierigkeit hervorgeht, den Glauben an die Obhut der Vorsehung mit dem empfundenen Bösen in Einklang zu bringen. Die Frage nach dem Sinn des Leidens der Polen wird hier zu einer Frage nach der Berechtigung des Bösen. Konrad wird zu einem metaphysischen Rebell in dem er dem Schöpfer mit dem Gottesmord droht, da er vermutet, dass Gott das Geschöpf instrumental behandelt. Angesichts der von mir geschilderten philosophischen Kontexte, wird die Empörung des Helden zu eine luziferischen Natur, da sie – in Konrads Meinung – zu einer Katastrophe mit kosmischem Ausmaß führen kann. Zugleich ist die Empörung des Helden eine Rebellion, die im Namen des menschlichen Gerechtigkeitssinns verwirklicht wird. Sie folgt daraus, dass es unmöglich ist, das Bild Gottes als das höchste Gut und Vater des Geschöpfs verstanden und die Tatsache in Einklang zu bringen, dass er das Bösen in der Welt existieren und wirken lässt.
