Opis:
Since 2011 the authors have been researching the regional features of rural construction in the region of Kolska Structural Basin and in its vicinity. The specific nature of this region involves a high share of buildings erected from the local building stone – upper-Cretaceous limestone silica building stone. The material, common in the area about 1000 km2 in size, is used for outcropping in the region of the village of Rożniatów, the Uniejów commune, where such formations appear on the surface in the upper layer. The article presents the results of research referring to the Uniejów commune, in which there has been listed about 30% of the total of more than 2000 buildings made from limestone silica building stone. Such a considerable distribution of that material not typical of lowland facilitated the study of the technology applied in the regional rural construction, as well as the architectonic solutions used. The buildings made from limestone silica building stone represented by housing and livestock structures, barns, churches and special structures, due to their unique character, provide a very characteristic element of the local landscape. Unfortunately, from year to year the number of structures demonstrating the regional specific nature in the commune has been decreasing. The deteriorating technical condition of the buildings results in launching maintenance works where the stone is replaced with today’s building materials. More and more structures get demolished. It is necessary to initiate the protection of that unique heritage of material culture. In such actions a special role should be played by local government.

Opis:
This article presents a comparison of the real amount of structural bending of a traditional residential building on curved mining ground with the bending results from an elastic model of the system: building + ground. Thanks to surveying measurements conducted during the exploitation front, the relationship between the curvature of the building and the curvature of the area in its direct vicinity was determined. The measurement work lasted one and a half years. Observation results collected in nature verify the deformation results of the modelled structure in the approach proposed by the guidelines for designing buildings in mining areas in Poland. Building Research Institute Instructions, Guidelines, Guidance 416 (2006) allows the adoption of an elastic model for the structure, and for the ground, it allows the adoption of linear elastic features characteristic of Winkler elastic ground. The main purpose of the work was to determine the overestimation of stress in the modelled building resulting from the use of a simpli-fied, computational engineering approach.

Opis:
Masonry arches are regularly used in construction. The main purpose of this work was to perform numerical calculations using the Finite Element Method to estimate the load capacity of the designed masonry arch and to identify optimal locations for sensors on a real structure to aid advanced structural analysis. The model was implemented in two computer programs - Autodesk Robot and DIANA, and the results were compared. The arch was analysed statically and dynamically in the elastic range. A preliminary 2D static analysis was performed in Autodesk Robot, while in DIANA both flat and spatial models were analysed using both static and dynamic analysis. Numerical estimation of the load capacity of the masonry structure gave the opportunity to show the basic failure mechanisms together with the character of the stress distribution as well as the eigenfrequencies and eigenmodes. Satisfactory results were obtained, after a review of the literature.

Opis:
The article concerns the diagnosis of the technical condition, as well as the possibilities of renovating, the Leaning Tower located in Zabkowice Slaskie in Lower Silesia, Poland. Damage to the structure of the facility, which occurred in 2015, constituted the basis for carrying out tests and measurements in order to enable the causes of the damage to be determined. The resulting damage is cracks in brick walls. Cracks were formed in the place where the proper structure of the Tower was connected with the staircase constituting the extension of the building. Therefore, it was necessary to carry out diagnostic work. The conducted diagnostic works resulted in the obtaining of knowledge about the technical condition of the facility, and the possibilities of the necessary repair works, which will ensure the further safe operation of the facility. It was considered necessary to stabilize the ground under the staircase by making micropiles. Cracks in the walls were stabilized by making steel ties, rebuilt and reinforced with steel bars. The Leaning Tower, as a historic and unique building in Europe, requires special technical supervision, which will guarantee that it remains in its prime for many years to come and continue to be one of the key tourist attractions of Zabkowice Slaskie.
