Introduction: Because of the fact that detailed data on the physiological characteristics of Pencak Silat are still limited. The primary purpose of this study to assess the physiological responses of Pencak Silat athletes and a secondary aim is to compare the physiological responses of Pencak Silat athletes with physiological responses of Taekwondo athletes. Material and Methods: This study has included 17 male junior martial art athletes (aged 15-16 years). This study requires all participants to completed one familiarization session and two experimental sessions. During the first session (laboratory condition), anthropometry was measured in the laboratory, and during the second session (on-court condition), the participants completed tests for anaerobic capacity (sprint test 60-m, vertical jump, push-ups, and sit-ups) and VO2max test. Results: The statistical analysis revealed no significant differences in anthropometry, vertical-jump, sit-ups, push-ups, and 60-m sprint results among TKD and PKS groups. Furthermore, the TKD group had significantly higher VO2max (p=0.015), when compared with the PKS group. Conclusion: The present investigation describes similar physiological characterizes, such as weight, height, BMI, BMR, body fat and also performances of vertical jump, situps, push-ups, and 60-m sprint tests among Taekwondo and Pencak Silat athletes. However, in comparison with junior Pencak Silat athletes, the junior Taekwondo athletes have better VO2max.

Opis:
Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a functional screen test of the motor system which is steadily gaining recognition and popularity among individuals interested in prevention of sports injuries. The FMS test battery includes seven mutually related motor activities to analyse the quality of basic movement patterns. An in-depth interpretation of the performed test design provides good conditions to determine the weakest links in the kinematic chain and to estimate the risk of injury. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of the FMS test results on frequency of sports injuries in soccer players. With the main objective of the study in mind the following research hypothesis was formulated: “a group of players in the lowest interval (14–17 FMS test points) will have a high frequency of injuries in comparison to a group in the upper interval (18–21 points in the FMS test)”. The tests were carried out on a group of 102 younger and older junior soccer players representing the Soccer Academy of KKS Lech Poznań. For that the test design with FMS test procedure was used, followed by a six month period in which the injuries of the individuals in the study group were recorded. The research hypothesis was not confirmed. In the analysis of the results no statistical significance was noted between the total number of points obtained in the FMS test and the number of injuries. It was noted that the number of injuries was statistically significantly correlated with the results of the Shoulder Mobility test of the right side (for all participants and for the players in the lower interval), Hurdle Step test of the left side (for a group of players in the lower interval), and the In-line Lunge test of the left side (for upper interval players). The results of the single variable logistic regression showed that injuries occurred more often in players of the lower interval. A forest plot indicates the direction of the increased risk of injury in players in the lower interval of points: OR = 1.14 (95% CL; 0.71 : 1.83).

Opis:
Background. Numerous studies show that in addition to football’s physical and cognitive requirements, there is an increasing emphasis on acquiring a high level of technical skills at an early age. The aim of the research is to investigate an innovative football delivery machine used for technical skill development under two different training systems. Material and methods. Physiological parameters and locomotor skills were examined with a Polar Team Pro device during the study. Results. Significant differences were found in the results for maximum heart rate (p=0.015), number of sprints (p=0.009), time-proportionate running distance (p=0.000), and highintensity accelerations (p=0.002) and decelerations (p=0.001). Conclusions. The football delivery machine provided a more intense training session for athletes in terms of micro-movements. However, in terms of physiological parameters, the intensity did not reach the values measured during a traditional technical training session.
Wprowadzenie. Materiał i metody. Podczas badania parametry fizjologiczne i zdolności lokomocyjne były sprawdzane za pomocą urządzenia Polar Team Pro. Wyniki. Stwierdzono istotne różnice w wynikach dla maksymalnej częstości akcji serca (p=0,015), liczby sprintów (p=0,009), dystansu biegu proporcjonalnego do czasu (p=0,000) oraz przyspieszeń (p=0,002) i spowolnień (p=0,001) o dużej intensywności. Wnioski. Stwierdzono, że urządzenie do podawania piłek nożnych zapewniało sportowcom bardziej intensywną sesję treningową pod względem mikroruchów. Jednak pod względem parametrów fizjologicznych intensywność nie osiągnęła wartości mierzonych podczas tradycyjnej sesji treningu technicznego.

Eurofit test battery
Opis:
Rugby is a popular sport and requires participants to have commensurate physical attributes for effective participation. One physical fitness test battery which enjoys extensive use contextually is the European Test of Physical Fitness (Eurofit). However, the psychometric properties of the test battery have not been explored and documented in the local context. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the test-retest reliability of the Eurofit test battery items among elite schoolboy rugby players in Harare, Zimbabwe. Thirty-two (32) players with the mean age of 17.2 (SD=1.03) years completed all the tests during the in- season period. Anthropometric and Eurofit test measurements were obtained twice with seven days separating the assessments. The Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) estimated the reliability test items. The global ICCs for the Eurofit test items ranged from 0.59 to 0.98. The Sit-and-Reach test yielded the highest temporal reliability (ICC=0.98). The Plate Tapping test, Flamingo Balance test and 10×5m Shuttle Run test showed ICCs < 0.7. Cognisant of the study limitations, some component test items of Eurofit test battery can be recommended for reliably evaluating aspects of physical fitness in junior rugby players in Zimbabwe whilst others still need consideration and test modification.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to present research findings focused on exploring effective methods for coping with challenging situations experienced by gamers during gameplay. The identification of difficulties associated with the occurrence of antisocial behaviors in the form of electronic aggression (e.g., retarding, chat-based verbal abuse) aligns the conducted research with the positive concept of prevention- resilience. According to this concept, the development of an individual’s social competence determines their positive functioning in society. The study used the cognitive-behavioral method of Aggression Replacement Training, respecting its high effectiveness in other countries. Equipping gamers with social skills (e.g., dealing with accusations of cheating in games) appears to be an efficient method in supporting the development of their resilience. The experiment was conducted among junior high school computer gamers (N=48), selected from a pool of 114 individuals; and it explored the role of ART in students’ coping strategies during challenging situations.
