    This article describes new conditions that must be fulfilled to provide sufficient degree of electrical safety in industrial buildings. The most significant step is monitoring of all nominal and fault currents in individual parts of electrical installation and continuous checking neutral and protective wires continuity.     This report addresses selected methodological aspects of proactive reliability, functional safety and cyber security management in life cycle of industrial automation and control systems (IACS) in hazardous plants and oil port critical installations based on the analysis of relevant hazards / threats and evaluation of related risks. In addition the insurance company point of view has been also considered, because nowadays the insurer, interested in decreasing risks to be insured, offers the expertise how to limit effectively risks in life cycle from the design conceptual stage of hazardous plant, through its reliable and safe operation, until decommissioning. Therefore, the risk evaluation model for insurance related decision making for the period considered, e.g. one year, should be plant specific with some predictive properties due to changing environment and business conditions, and usually considerable uncertainty involved. The objective is to evaluate and mitigate risks, and control them proactively, through undertaking appropriate activities within a process based management system according to elaborated policy and strategy that includes organisational and technical aspects, including preventive maintenance activities of sensitive equipment and updating in time the training programmes. Careful evaluating and controlling risks is also crucial for the insurance company. Basic activities of the risk engineers and underwriters in the insurance process are outlined in the context of identified hazards/threats and defined factors that significantly influence risks to be considered in evaluating the insurance premium in the context of terms and conditions specified.

    The aim of the article is to present the expectations of industrial enterprises towards suppliers related to quality, environment, occupational health and safety management systems (QEOH &SMS). The article presents the results of empirical research conducted in 151 companies operating on the Polish B2B market. The study was commissioned to a specialised research agency that conducted a targeted selection of companies registered in the Bisnode database, which is a business directory search platform. The expectations of production companies towards their suppliers regarding the implementation of QEOH&SMS were assigned a rank on a scale from one (the least important criterion) to five (the most significant). The methodological apparatus in this study was set so that it was possible to fulfil the research goal based on empirical data. A questionnaire was used to verify the characteristics of the operational process after the implementation of particular managerial systems. This article examines the relationship between the requirements for suppliers and the implementation of management systems by manufacturing companies. The results of the conducted research indicate that expectations of industrial enterprises towards suppliers related to QEOH&SMS are strongly focused on their development. Research shows that companies that adhere to the requirements of standardised management systems have a greater requirement for suppliers than companies that do not implement QEOH & SM requirements. In particular, the implementation of quality and environmental management systems by the surveyed organisations translates into increased requirements for suppliers. The article contributes to the existing scientific literature by analysing the impact of the implementation of individual management systems on the expectations towards suppliers. This study shows which of the 18 examined aspects are particularly important for manufacturing companies. Additionally, the expectations towards suppliers were classified into four groups (Corrective, Preventive, Improvement, Innovation).

    The approach addresses selected technical and organization aspects of risk mitigation in the oil port installations with regard to functional safety and security requirements specified in standards IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and IEC 62443. The procedure for functional safety management includes the hazard identification, risk analysis and assessment, specification of overall safety requirements and definition of safety functions. Based on the risk evaluation results the safety integrity level (SIL) and security assurance level (SAL) will be determined for consecutive safety functions. The proposed approach will be composed of the following items: process and procedure based safety and security management, example of procedure based safety management including insurance, integrated safety and security assessment of industrial control system (ICS) of the oil port pipelines, tanks and critical infrastructure.

    Maintenance involves a large amount of data management. Although many tools, strategies, and systems, have been developed to organize the maintenance information resources, SMEs have not found the same benefits as large companies due to their inherent characteristics and, above all, the maturity level of the maintenance department. Maturity models are useful tools for assessing the maturity of maintenance information practices; however, existing models are not suitable for any type of business context, as they required companies to have a clear organizational structure and definite informative infrastructure. Moreover, they do not assist in identifying and defining actions to reach the highest level. This paper proposes a model for assessing and improving maintenance management information practices. It allows a clear measure of the maturity of the maintenance information management practices in industrial contexts and provides improvement actions identifying the information and data needed to enhance maintenance management information practices.

    Background: There are many studies on software development teams, but few about the interactions between teams. Current findings suggest that these multi-team systems may have a significant impact on software development projects. Aim: The objective of this exploratory study is to provide more evidence on multi-team systems in software engineering and identify challenges with a potential impact on software quality. Method: A non-participatory approach was used to collect data on one development project within a large telecommunication organization. Verbal interactions between team members were analyzed using a coding scheme following the Grounded Theory approach. Results: The results show that the interactions between teams are often technical in nature, outlining technical dependencies between departments, external providers, and even clients. Conclusion: This article hypothesizes that managers of large software project should (1) identify external teams most likely to interfere with their development work, to (2) appoint brokers to redirect external requests to the appropriate resource, and to (3) ensure that there are opportunities to discuss technical issues at the multi-team level. Failure to do so could results in delays and the persistence of codebase-wide issues.

    The work is devoted important issues of the management in maritime critical infrastructure of functional safety analysis, in particular the safety integrity level (SIL) verification of safety functions to be implemented within the distributed control and protection systems with regard to cyber security aspects. A method based on quantitative and qualitative information is proposed for the SIL (IEC 61508, 61511) verification with regard of the evaluation assurance levels (EAL) (ISO/IEC 15408), the security assurance levels (SAL) (IEC 62443), and the number of protection rings described in the Secure Safety (SeSa-SINTEF) methodology. The proposed approach will be composed of the following items: process and procedure based safety and cyber security management, integrated safety and security assessment of industrial control system (ICS) of the maritime critical infrastructure. Proposed methodology is illustrated on case study that based on the part of installation critical maritime infrastructure.

Ilustruje logikę powiązań zasobów informacyjnych przedsiębiorstwa i przykładowe narzędzie praktycznego sankcjonowania trwałości tych relacji. Problematykę artykułu autor prezentuje na przykładzie kopalni węgla brunatnego. Wybrany podmiot ilustruje przypadek dobrej praktyki przygotowania firmy do wdrożenia wysoko zaawansowanej technologii informatycznej, wykorzystywanej do wspomagania zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem wysokiej specyfiki w warunkach turbulentnego otoczenia oraz konkurencji branżowej na rynku globalnym.
    The article focuses on the use information resources of industrial informatics in managerial decision-making processes. The Author emphasizes particularly the multiple aspects of the quality of information generated in industrial informatics systems as well as information deposited in the systems. Technical values of such information are indicated, and its economic and managerial nature is displayed, which is demonstrated by specific examples. The subject matter is dedicated to practitioners of economics who fail to appreciate the economic aspect of technical information, particularly in the process of integrating the enterprise information systems achieved through integrated informatics technology, including the implementation of technologically advanced systems. The Author considers the stage of preparing an enterprise for the implementation of integrated informatics technology, equipped with the capacity to support managerial decision-making processes with industrial informatics resources, as critical to the possible uses of information characteristic for technical aspects of the enterprise production process. The logic of interrelations of the enterprise information resources is shown and a sample tool for practical sanctioning of the lasting nature of such relations is demonstrated. The subject matter of the article is presented in the example of a lignite mine. The entity selected illustrates the case of good practice in preparing an enterprise to the implementation of advanced informatics technology used to support highly specific enterprise management in turbulent environment and competitive global market.

    Research background: The nature of bankruptcy has been the subject of interest for economic theories, both positive-identifying relationships between bankruptcy and other economic categories - and normative, shaping the rules for the proper regulation of bankruptcy. In turn, the functioning of an enterprise in conditions of risk, financial threat, and finally a crisis that could lead to bankruptcy, are of interest to management. The interpenetration of these two dimensions provided the motivation for this study, which assumes a bottom-up approach: from individual results to summarised multi-sectional comparisons. Purpose of the article: The purpose of the research was to evaluate the level, directions of change, and structure of the degree of financial threat in industrial enterprises. The period under analysis was 2007-2018 and the whole population of industrial enterprises in Poland (15,999 entities) was examined. The enterprises were small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as large enterprises (LEs). The financial analysis covered macro-, meso-, and microeconomic levels. Methods: The analysis was conducted using a comparative approach and financial threat predictions obtained from the original multivariable logit model. Heat maps were used to evaluate the intensity of changes in financial threat. The displacement of objects in structures was studied, ordered, and classified. Four normative standards of threat scenarios were defined and then used to evaluate similarities in the profiles of the structures examined, using the similarity measure. The ranking and its variability were analysed in the assessment of profiles. Findings & value added: As the result of the research, properties were described and profiles were determined for the structures in terms of the degree of threat and its correlation with rate of bankruptcy and creating added value. The originality of the research comes from the use of novel dynamic logit models. The added value is a unique study on the entire population of industrial enterprises in the national economy and a methodology for identifying financial threat profiles and their similarity at subsequent aggregation levels (the micro-, meso-, and macro-levels). This made it possible to derive patterns and regularities for economic policy and guidelines for business management.

The procedure for functional safety management includes the hazard identification, risk analysis and assessment, specification of overall safety requirements and definition of safety functions. Based on risk assessment results the safety integrity level (SIL) is determined for consecutive safety functions. These functions are implemented within industrial control system (ICS) that consists of the basic process control system (BPCS) and/or safety instrumented system (SIS). Determination of required SIL related to required risk mitigation is based on semi-quantitative evaluation method. Verification of SIL for considered architectures of BPCS and/or SIS is supported by probabilistic models with appropriate data and model parameters including security-related aspects. The approach proposed is illustrated on example of oil port installations. In final part of the article the insurance aspects are discussed in managing risks, as some risks are to be transferred to an insurance company.

    In the conditions of computing the human society, the operational management activities can be improved by using artificial intelligence. Therefore, an expert system is proposed, for the metallurgical industry, for the casting activity for parts necessary in mining industry.
    Sztuczna inteligencja może przyczynić się do poprawy działań związanych z zarządzaniem operacyjnym w przypadku informatyzacji społeczeństwa. W związku z powyższym, w artykule zaproponowano wykorzystanie systemu eksperckiego w przemyśle metalurgicznym, szczególnie w procesach odlewania części niezbędnych w przemyśle kopalnianym.

    Opis:
    Purpose – to investigate the problems of implementing a strategic planning system in industrial enterprises.  Design/Method/Research approach. A theoretical approach based on the generalization of available research, analysis, and comparison to identify obstacles to the strategic planning implementation in industrial enterprises Findings. It is substantiated that the strategy development and strategic planning system implementation are necessary conditions for a modern industrial enterprise's functioning due to the dynamism and instability of the economic environment. One of the most important factors influencing the economic entity's efficiency is the awareness of the need to implement a strategic planning system because it allows the company to achieve dynamic development and strengthen its market position. It is argued that among the problems that affect the strategic planning implementation in industrial enterprises, external factors of influence, internal factors of the organization, and factors related to the enterprise owner's motives. Theoretical implications. The research's theoretical significance is to change the research focus in strategic planning from external factors to the enterprise owner's motives research.  Practical implications. Owners and top managers can use the research to prevent problems with the enterprise's strategic planning implementation. Originality/Value. The paper's originality is because, for the first time, the relationship between the dynamics and problems of strategic planning system implementation in industrial enterprises is considered by the personal motives of the enterprises' owners. Research limitations/Future research. Further research forecasts further analyze the relationship between external and internal factors influencing strategic planning system implementation problems in industrial enterprises.     Мета роботи – дослідити проблеми впровадження системи стратегічного планування на промислових підприємствах. Дизайн/Метод/План дослідження. Теоретичний підхід, що заснований на узагальнені існуючих досліджень, аналіз та порівняння для виявлення перешкод впровадження системи стратегічного планування на промислових підприємствах. Результати дослідження. Обґрунтовано, що розробка стратегії та впровадження системи стратегічного планування – це одна з необхідних умов функціонування сучасного промислового підприємства, що обумовлено динамічністю та нестабільністю економічного середовища. Доведено, що одним з найголовніших факторів, котрий впливає на ефективність функціонування економічного суб’єкту, є усвідомлення необхідності впровадження системи стратегічного планування, оскільки, воно дає можливість підприємству досягати динамічного розвитку та посилювати ринкову позицію. Аргументовано, що серед проблем, які впливають на впровадження системи стратегічного планування на промислових підприємствах є не тільки зовнішні фактори впливу і внутрішні фактори організації, а й фактори пов’язані з особистісними мотивами власника підприємства. Теоретичне значення дослідження. Теоретичне значення цыэъ статты полягаэ у зміны фокусу досліджень у сфері стратегічного планування з зовнішніх факторів на дослідження особистих мотивів власника підприємства. Практичне значення дослідження. Дане дослідження може використовуватись власниками та топ-менеджерами для запобігання проблем пыд час впровадження стратегічного планування на підприємстві. Оригінальність/Цінність/Наукова новизна дослідження. Оригінальність статті зумовлена тим, що вперше розглянуто взаємозв’язок між динамікою та проблемами впровадження системи стратегічного планування на промислових підприємствах з боку особистих мотивів власників цих підприємств.     Цель работы – исследовать проблемы внедрения системы стратегического планирования на промышленных предприятиях. Дизайн/Метод/План исследования. Теоретический подход, основанный на обобщении существующих исследований, анализ и сравнение для выявления препятствий внедрения системы стратегического планирования на промышленных предприятия. Результаты исследования. Обосновано, что разработка стратегии и внедрение системы стратегического планирования – это одно из необходимых условий функционирования современного промышленного предприятия, что обусловлено динамичностью и нестабильностью экономической среды. Доказано, что одним из главных факторов, который влияет на эффективность функционирования экономического субъекта, является осознание необходимости внедрения системы стратегического планирования, поскольку оно дает возможность предприятию достигать динамичного развития и усиливать рыночную позицию. Аргументировано, что среди проблем, которые влияют на внедрение системы стратегического планирования на промышленных предприятиях, следует выделять не только внешние факторы влияния и внутренние факторы организации, но и факторы, связаные с личностными мотивами собственника предприятия. Теоретическое значение исследования. Теоретическим значением данной статьи является изменение фокуса исследований в области стратегического планирования с внешних факторов на исследования личных мотивов собственника предприятия. Практическое значение исследования. Данное исследование может использоваться владельцами и топ-менеджерами для предотвращения проблем при внедрения стратегического планирования на предприятии. Оригинальность/Ценность/Научная новизна исследования. Оригинальность статьи обусловлена тем, что впервые рассмотрена взаимосвязь между динамикой и проблемами внедрения системы стратегического планирования на промышленных предприятиях со стороны личных мотивов владельцев этих предприятий. Ограничение исследования/Перспективы дальнейших исследований. Прогнозы дальнейших исследований –дальнейший анализ взаимосвязи внешних и внутренних факторов влияния на проблемы внедрения системы стратегического планирования на промышленных предприятиях.     The article describes activities, which consist of reducing the amount of polymer wastes generated in the production cycle of the installation system. The main goal of the described case is to find a method to reduce the amount of polymer waste generated in the process of production. Minimization of the waste is one of the most important elements of introducing the Clean Production rules for enterprises. The Clean Production is a good background for the implementation of legislation which is binding in Poland and European Union and which concerns evaluation of environment management system.
    W artykule opisano działania polegające na ograniczaniu ilości odpadów polimerowych powstających w cyklu produkcyjnym systemów instalacyjnych. Głównym kierunkiem w opisywanym przykładzie było znalezienie metody zmniejszającej powstawanie ilości odpadów w samym procesie produkcyjnym. Minimalizacja odpadów jest jednym z ważniejszych elementów wdrażania zasady Czystszej Produkcji w przedsiębiorstwie. Czystsza Produkcja stanowi dobre przygotowanie do wprowadzenia regulacji prawnych obowiązujących w Polsce oraz Unii Europejskiej, dotyczących oceny systemu zarządzania środowiskiem.

Przedstawiono także opracowane działania, procedury i instrukcje, dzięki którym wprowadzono system zarządzania BHP w przedsiębiorstwie.
    The presented article is an attempt of the optimization of the HSW management system in the industrial enterprise, with the aim of reducing the number of events potentially causing occupational diseases, accidents at work and, hence, of raising the job security on every position. Action, procedures and instructions were drawn up thanks to which, a system of HSW managing in the enterprise was implemented.

    Opis:
    Background: The aim of this study is to introduce a framework, which describes a customer-oriented approach for developing data-driven services by the Internet of Things (IoT), also known as "Smart Services" in manufacturing business. Methods: A literature review presents a background for IoT, data and digitalization of services, as well as the role of simulation technologies for the development process of Smart Services. For the empirical study, an agricultural tractor manufacturer case company was analyzed utilizing Customer Needs Assessment tools to determine the new service requirements. Results: The agricultural industry is also adopting the IoT related technologies to deliver services which are able to track crop environments in order to optimize crop yields and develop sustainable outcomes. The results obtained from the Need Interpretation Table and the Trace Matrix show that farmers need Smart Services to be able to connect their tractors and implements to the Internet for a better understanding of agricultural operations. They also demand a personalized everyday working plan based on data analyzed on previous work shifts. From the case company side, it is important to collect and analyze usage data, such as temperature, humidity and pressure of tractor environment, as well as data related to determine root causes and failure rates. Conclusion: The scientific contribution demonstrates the relationship between Product Lifecycle Management and IoT, and how it can leverage Smart Services. The practical contribution was based on the empirical study results by delivering smart service propositions in a tractor company, such as operation and remote failure tracking, showing customer demands for machine productivity, time saving and sustainable resource optimization.
    Wstęp: Celem pracy jest wprowadzenie struktury, opisującej, zorientowane na klienta, podejście do rozwoju usług związanych z Internetem rzeczy, określanych jako usługi typu smart w działalności produkcyjnej. Metody: W przeglądzie literatury zaprezentowano ideę Internetu rzeczy, usługi związane z digitalizacją jak również rolę technologii symulacji dla procesu rozwoju usług typu smart. W części empirycznej, na podstawie przykładu producenta ciągników rolniczych określono zapotrzebowanie na nowe usługi poprzez zastosowanie narzędzia oceny potrzeb klienta. Wyniki: Technologie oparte na Internecie rzeczy zostały zaadaptowane również w przemyśle rolniczym w celu dostarczania usług umożliwiających śledzenie środowiska uprawianych plonów e celu optymalizacji uzyskiwanych plonów uprawianych zgodnie z zaleceniami gospodarki zrównoważonej. Wyniki otrzymane z tabeli analizy potrzeb oraz matrycy śledzącej wskazuje na zapotrzebowanie wśród rolników na usługi typu smart w celu lepszego wykorzystania swoich maszyn w różnych pracach związanych z rolnictwem. Oczekiwana była również przez nich dostępność codziennego planu roboczego opartego na analizowanych danych oraz wcześniej wykonywanych pracach. Z punktu widzenia tego typu przedsiębiorstwa, istotne jest zbieranie oraz analiza takich danych jak temperatura, wilgotność i ciśnienie otoczenia, w którym pracuje ciągnik jak również danych dotyczących wypadków i awarii. Wnioski: Wykazano zależność pomiędzy zarządzaniem cyklem życia produktu a Internetem rzeczy oraz jego wpływu na usługi typu smart. Praktycznym rozwiązaniem było przygotowanie propozycji wdrożenia tego usług typu smart w analizowanym przedsiębiorstwie, takich jak śledzenie operacji oraz awarii, określanie zapotrzebowania na wydajność maszyn, oszczędność czasu oraz optymalizacja zasobów uwzględniająca rozwój zrównoważony.
