Opis:
A famous Rabbi of Kotzk surprised his guests with a question “Where is God’s dwell-ing?”. When their thoughts started to wander off towards too speculative and abstract formula of God’s “dwelling place”, the Rabbi surprised them for the second time, giving the answer himself, the answer which is generally well known to us: “God dwells where man lets Him in”. Avoiding the answer which would be situated in a spatial paradigm, the hero of Buber’s existential treaty about a dialogic nature of human existence in the world (The Way of Man According to the Teaching of Hasidim) skillfully shifted the focus on anthropological dimen-sion of the issue of God’s transcendence and immanence. Perhaps prima facie well practiced and subject-oriented metaphysical reflection is not our primary necessity, but that does not mean that it is totally redundant and that it is enough to pause on a certain surface of witty retorts. It is worth noting that metaphysical assumptions are hiding behind existentially compelling retorts. The author in his article, starting from the above mentioned controversy, wants to point out several issues: paradoxicalness of God’s presence in the world, possibility of ideologizing the category “transcendence – immanence” in relation to God and neo-anthropomorphism in statements about God.

Abstract mathematical formulae are our “mother tongue”, thanks to which we are able to develop a creative dialogue with our physical environment. The application of the language of mathematics gives us access to valuable information about events which occurred billions years ago and so allows us to reconstruct the history of the universe. This amazing property of nature inspires a non-trivial philosophical question: Why are there the mathematically described universal laws of physics at all, when nature could have been only an uncoordinated disorder? The existence of the universal laws of nature seems to constitute the essence of the ontological structure of the world. Various authors call this basic field of formal structures – the matrix of the universe, the field of rationality, the formal field, the Logos, the Absolute, etc. Jan Łukasiewicz, the well-known representative of the Polish School of Logic, argued that the reality of ideal mathematical structures independent of human experience could be regarded as an expression of God’s presence in nature. Regardless of our terminological preferences, this structure can be regarded as a basic level of physical reality where the necessitarian interpretation of the laws of nature is confirmed and the astonishing effectiveness of mathematics could be explained.

Opis:
The Islamic dogma of the One and Unique God introduces the concept of a transcendent God, the true being, the absolute Lord of the worlds to whom everything will return at the Last Day. The denial of this truth and associating with Him partners is idolatry, and it is an unpardonable sin. Such a concept of God guarantees the unity of the material and spiritual world. Man, discovering the Law of Unity, acquires a knowledge of the one God and consciously submits to His will according the innate Religion of Islam. God who is Almighty, Hidden, and full of wisdom (transcendence) is close to His creation and reveals himself through His “remnant” (immanence), which are the “Excellent Names of God”. The man answers to His presence with the love that he feels in mystical experience. In this way, the mystic frees himself from the world of multiplicity in order to be annihilated in Unity. Everyday life of a Muslim is the praise of the One God for His transcendence, thanksgiving for His immanence and mercy, and worship for His greatness.

Opis:
The paper presents the idea of transcendence of God as depth of being in the philosophy of Józef Życiński (1948–2011). This idea has two main interpretations: moral (searching for the meaning of life by man and discovering it in the world of values) and ontological (the presence of some formal structures in the being of the world as the expression of the divine Logos). The paper consists of three parts: 1) a presentation of those aspects of human existence whose main feature is the question of the meaning of life, and the role of ethics, aesthetics and religion in answering it; 2) a presentation of the idea of God as the depth of the world and structure of laws, ideas and values; 3) a presentation of the aspiration of man to the harmony of life through the openness to the depth of existence in the moral and ontological aspects.

Opis:
Cyril of Alexandria did not treat the problem of God’s transcendence and immanence as extensively and profoundly as did John Chrysostom, due to the fact that the question was not as relevant in Cyril’s time as is was in the time of Chrysostom. However, the ideas of the latter are present in the writings of Cyril, who draws a distinction between the inner being of God and His work. This similarity can be traced in two main points. First, God in His essential nature surpasses everything. This inner life of God is above and beyond any knowledge and reach, any concept and reasoning. All that we know about the nature of God is that He acts in the world and this action is performed by the Father through the Son in the Spirit. Second, in order to outline God’s action, Cyril uses the terms „power” and „energy” indistinguishably. For both authors the method of antinomy is a primary system of coordinates in which they combine the two fundamentally opposite poles of God’s being: the transcendent and the immanent. So, in this point the Oriental Theological Schools of Alexandria and Antioch are internally consonant.
