Opis:
An innovative propulsion and power supply topology for Personal Rapid Transit is presented. The concept is based on application of linear induction motor for propulsion and hybrid power supply using Contactless Energy Transfer supported by a supercapacitor energy storage. Proposed solution is based on the application of linear induction motor as a propulsion and inductive contactless energy transfer.
Zaprezentowano topologię innowacyjnego napędu i zasilania Personal Rapid Transit. Koncepcja opiera się na zastosowaniu liniowego silnika indukcyjnego do napędu i hybrydowego zasilania z użyciem bezstykowego przenoszenia energii wspieranego przez kondensator magazynowania energii. Zaproponowane rozwiązanie polega na zastosowaniu liniowego silnika indukcyjnego, jako napędu i indukcyjnym bezstykowym przekazie energii.

Opis:
A universal controller for brushless direct current (BLDC) motors was designed in the presented article. The system is controlled from the user console where operating parameters are set by the user. Signals are transmitted by cables to microcontrollers which control and monitor electric motors. Microprocessors communicate via a data bus. The controller contains the user console module and the motor control module. The user console module generates commands, and motors are controlled and monitored by the control module. Motor control modules operate independently, and each brushless motor has a dedicated control module. Brushless motors can be controlled in bipolar or unipolar mode. The control method is selected by the operator. The user console and motor controllers communicate via the I²C bus.

Vehicles powered in alternative ways have an increasing share in the car market. Their use is becoming more and more justified considering the ever more stringent standards for the emission of harmful substances from the exhaust systems of internal combustion engines and the introduction of restrictions on vehicle traffic in city centres. The possibility of using in the propulsion systems only an electric motor or its simultaneous use with the internal combustion engine enables a significant reduction of emission of harmful exhaust gas pollutants. This applies in particular to urban areas, where there are numerous exceedances of acceptable air quality standards. This problem is most noticeable in larger cities in Poland, where there is a lot of traffic. It is therefore legitimate to promote alternative vehicles powered in alternative ways. Their dual power system gives the opportunity to significantly reduce the emission of harmful substances. Therefore, the article presents own research, carried out on a chassis dynamometer, using two passenger cars, one with a spark-ignition combustion engine and the second with a hybrid drive system containing a spark-ignition engine and an electric motor (system without the possibility of recharging batteries from external sources). Vehicles were characterized by similar mass and the same displacement volumes of internal combustion engines. The results of the tests made it possible to compare cars in terms of exhaust emissions. For testing purposes, a chassis dynamometer was used, on which the WLTC homologation cycle was repeatedly reproduced. This is a new driving cycle, which replaces the NEDC cycle used so far in the type approval procedure in the European Union.

In this article, both problems of the internal combustion-engine’s thermal equilibrium as well as improving the DC-DC converter’s operation in the hybrid-electric vehicle’s propulsion system. The purpose of the proposed amendments is to increase the energy efficiency of the hybrid-electric vehicle’s propulsion system. Such a hybridelectric vehicle in city traffic is characterized by intermittent operation of the internal combustion engine with long pauses, which causes difficulty in obtaining and maintaining the desired operating temperature of the internal combustion engine, especially at low outdoor temperatures and intensive use of the heating system inside the hybridelectric vehicle. The result is the increased emission of noxious exhaust gas components and increased fuel consumption. The proposed solution to this problem is to apply heat accumulator in the cooling system. It is stored in the waste heat from the cooling system used to obtain and maintain the internal combustion engine’s nominal operating temperature. The paper presents the results of simulation analyses the impact of applying heat accumulator in the hybrid-electric vehicle driving in city traffic, at different ambient conditions, such as: air temperature, internal combustion engine’s load and the frequency and length of stops. The proposed algorithm for controlling the circulation of the cooling liquid ensures as soon as possible to achieve and maintain the internal combustion engine’s temperature. Furthermore, the temperature of the operating medium can be adjusted depending on the operating conditions of the internal combustion engine. Experimental studies, on the example of the Toyota Prius and Yaris, confirmed the desirability of the use of the proposed solution. Improving the DC-DC converter’s current is to change the configuration by the use of a two-phase DC-DC converter – instead of a single-phase DC-DC converter, supplying a DC-AC inverter of the DC motoring the hybrid-electric vehicle’s propulsion system. This article also includes waveforms for comparison of the properties of both DC-DC converters.

The project was upgraded in successive stages of development, and it ultimately evolved into a small computer with a motor controller. The designed system automatically adjusts the motor’s rotation and speed. The user is tasked only with conveying operational commands. The entire system is based on a single microcontroller. The designed optoelectronic system receives user commands (the program can be modified to support free-space optical communication networks conforming to all communication standards). The system activates the motor, counts the number of rotations and adjusts the motor’s position.The designed system operates on the following principle: the user sends commands to the motor via a remote control with an infrared diode. The keys on the remote control have been programmed with different commands. The transmitted data are processed by the system which activates the motor and sets the desired motor speed. The task is completed, and the system is ready to process the next command. If the number of rotations differs from the preset value, the motor’s position is adjusted. If the physical position of the rotor axis is altered, the system corrects the offset to the last programmed position. The designed system can be easily adapted to various types of motors and IR controllers.

W artykule omówiono budowę cykli ze względu na zapis funkcji prędkości w czasie. Przedstawiono cztery kieleckie cykle podmiejskie, mające posłużyć do dalszych badań symulacyjnych nad doborem najlepszego zasobnika energii dla autobusu hybrydowego, poruszającego się po kieleckich liniach podmiejskich. Opisano procedurę gromadzenia danych, dzięki którym zbudowano cykle zastępcze wielosegmentowe mieszane oraz przeprowadzono analizę porównawczą tych cykli. Wskazano cechy podobne oraz różnice występujące między czterema cyklami.
The article describes the construction of cycles due to the data collected on the vehicles as some functions of the time. The contribution presents four suburban cycles determined for Kielce public transport buses. The cycles are to be used for further simulation studies to choose the best energy storage system for hybrid buses. The procedure of the data collection and evaluation, used to build multisegment suburban cycles has been described. The comparative analysis of all cycles has been presented. Some characteristics comparing all cycles and their differences have been shown.

In order to improve the safety and comfort of autonomous vehicles passing through the expressway, relevant departments of expressway construction often design and lay consecutive speed control humps (SCHs) with cross-sections of different shapes according to different road conditions, such as the combination of trapezoidal and sinusoidal SCHs. In this paper, we conduct a study about the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the autonomous vehicle passing through hybrid SCHs. Firstly, a four-degree-of-freedom (4-DOF) nonlinear model of the vehicle suspension and the speed coupling excitation model under hybrid SCHs are established. Then the fourth-fifth order Runge–Kutta method is used to simulate the nonlinear system, and its nonlinear dynamic characteristics are analyzed. The results show that chaotic motion occurs when the vehicle passes through hybrid SCHs, and the speed range of chaotic motion is obtained. Then, a direct variable feedback control method is used to suppress the chaotic vibration of semi-active suspension vehicles, and the effect is verified by simulation experiments. Finally, this paper presents a multi-objective optimization model based on a genetic algorithm (GA) for active suspension vehicles. The optimization model selects the vertical displacement and pitching angle of the vehicle body as the objective function. The research results of this paper can provide information on the ride comfort’s optimization for autonomous vehicles passing through hybrid SCHs and on the design of vehicle suspension system.

The pursuit of fuel consumption reduction by vehicles leads to a sudden increase in the share of hybrid and electric drives in the vehicle market. Replacing hybrid vehicles with electric vehicles requires long-term technological solutions, both for the infrastructure and the vehicles themselves. Therefore, one of the leading types of passenger car drives is currently the hybrid drive. The generated work share of electric drives used to power hybrid vehicles is a determinant of the viability of using electric drives. The article estimates the operating time share of electric and hybrid modes operation in real driving conditions (RDC) based on the latest Toyota hybrid model. The research object was a vehicle from the crossover group equipped with a fourth generation hybrid drive. Analysis of the drive's operation allowed to determine the conditions of energy flow and determine the work share of the electric drive in the total driving time.

In a regular drive system, with an internal combustion engine, vehicle braking is connected with the unproductive dissipation of kinetic and potential energy accumulated in the mass of the vehicle into the environment. This energy can constitute up to 70% of the energy used to drive a vehicle under urban conditions. Its recovery and reuse is one of the basic advantages of hybrid and electric vehicles. Modern traffic management systems as well as navigation systems should take into account the possibility of the energy recovery in the process of regenerative braking. For this purpose, a model of a regenerative braking process may be helpful, which on the one hand will enable to provide information on how traffic conditions will affect the amount of energy dissipated (wasted) into the atmosphere, on the other hand will help to optimize the route of vehicles with regenerative braking systems. This work contains an analysis of the process of the regenerative braking for the urban traffic conditions registered in Gdańsk. A model was also presented that allows calculating the amount of energy available from the braking process depending on the proposed variables characterizing the vehicle traffic conditions.

Strict emission standards mean that the internal combustion engines used in means of transport must meet the standards for the emission of harmful compounds. For this reason, there is an increase in the use of alternative sources of propulsion, including rail transport. The article presents unconventional solutions of drive systems in rail vehicles using hybrid systems and fuel cells. The concept of the realizing project of a specialpurpose rail vehicle, which is to be able to be driven from three different sources, was presented. Considerations concerning the selection of the internal combustion propulsion system, which is to be used as an auxiliary in the vehicle, are described. The possibilities of installing the power unit on the vehicle were also presented.

Opis:
Limitation of the toxic substances emission into the atmosphere in transport is one of the main priorities of the European Commission. The transport is increasingly contributing to air pollution. The alternative sources of energy and popularization of the sustainable ways of traveling and freight transport are the solution to this problem. This will allow not only to limit the pollutant emissions and reduce the fuel consumption, but also to reduce the operating costs of rail vehicles. In this article the authors analysed the structural solutions of hybrid drives in the rail vehicles and carried out an assessment of these solutions in terms of functionality and operation. As a result of the carried out analysis, the concept of hybrid drives for the basic series of diesel locomotives operated in Poland was presented.
Ograniczenie emisji toksycznych substancji do atmosfery w transporcie jest jednym z głównych priorytetów Komisji Europejskiej. Coraz większy udział w zanieczyszczeniu powietrza ma transport. Rozwiązaniem tego problemu są alternatywne źródła energii oraz popularyzacja zrównoważonych sposobów podróżowania i transportu ładunków. Pozwoli to nie tylko na ograniczenie emisji zanieczyszczeń i zmniejszenie zużycia paliwa, ale również na obniżenie kosztów eksploatacji pojazdów szynowych. W niniejszym artykule autorzy dokonali analizy rozwiązań konstrukcyjnych napędów hybrydowych w pojazdach szynowych oraz przeprowadzili ocenę tych rozwiązań pod względem funkcjonalności i eksploatacji. W wyniku przeprowadzonej analizy przedstawiono koncepcję napędów hybrydowych dla podstawowych serii lokomotyw spalinowych eksploatowanych w Polsce.

Opis:
Continuously increasing share of the hybrid and electric vehicles in the global automotive market justifies the need for detailed analysis of the operational effectiveness of these drive systems. The aim of the study was to assess the operational conditions of the combustion engines and electric motors in hybrid drive systems – full hybrid – of the motor vehicles in urban traffic conditions. Variety of designs of such drive systems is related to the high voltage batteries used and the way of charging them. The road tests were conducted in Warsaw (urban traffic conditions) by recording the operational parameters of three vehicles and their driving systems. The conditions of operation of the combustion engine and electric motors along with the values of their high voltage battery charge level were related to the test routes. The analysis of the relative shares of engine and motor operation time in the total time of vehicle operation in urban traffic conditions was conducted. The scope of operation of the hybrid drive system utilizing only electric propulsion system was determined. The relations between the operational indexes of the hybrid propulsion (combustion engine and electric motor) in real traffic conditions and the charge level of batteries, current speeds and accelerations were shown.
Zwiększająca się liczba pojazdów hybrydowych oraz elektrycznych w światowym rynku motoryzacyjnym wskazuje na celowość szczegółowej analizy efektywności pracy tych napędów. Celem badań opisanych w artykule była ocena warunków pracy silników spalinowych i elektrycznych w układach napędu hybrydowego – full hybrid pojazdów samochodowych w warunkach ruchu miejskiego. Różnorodność konstrukcji takich napędów jest związana z zastosowanymi akumulatorami wysokonapięciowymi oraz sposobem ładowania tych akumulatorów. Badania drogowe prowadzono na terenie Warszawy (warunki miejskie), rejestrując parametry ruchu trzech pojazdów i ich układów napędowych. Warunki pracy silników spalinowych i elektrycznych wraz z wartościami stopnia naładowania akumulatorów wysokonapięciowych odniesiono do tras przejazdu. Dokonano analizy względnych udziałów czasu pracy silników (spalinowego i elektrycznego) w całkowitym czasie eksploatacji w warunkach ruchu miejskiego. Określono zakresy pracy układu napędowego hybrydowego wykorzystującego tylko układ napędu elektrycznego. Wykazano zależność wskaźników pracy napędu hybrydowego (silników spalinowego i elektrycznego) podczas rzeczywistych warunków ruchu od stopnia naładowania akumulatorów oraz od aktualnych prędkości i przyspieszeń pojazdu.

In this project, a system was designed there was designed a system for charging batteries in electric vehicles using photovoltaic panels. Low cost of operation, cheap reliable construction and simple user interface were among the main criterias taken into account. Each energy source was carefully selected and, modules were used so that they could in the way to power the microcontroller and charge the energy storage source. This article is a part of a project related to the design of digital control devices with electric drives carried out at the UWM.
