Opis:
Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) has been commonly used to reinforce concrete structures. The kinds of FRP demonstrate an effective alternative to various methods of reinforcement in concrete structures subjected to bad environmental conditions which cause corrosion and damage to concrete. Due to their lightweight, high strength, and high corrosion and fatigue resistance, Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites have been widely applied in steel substitution during revitalization interventions. This paper presents numerical three-points bending tests on different models to investigate the effect of the reinforcements; Carbon, Glass, and Aramid fibers to find the corresponding cost of each one. Also, there is an available experimental model for verifying the results of the FEM that demonstrated broad agreement with the experimental statement, concerning the load-displacement curve. After validating the models, alternative designs such as type of the FRP, position of the FRP, and amount of the FRP usage were numerically tested to study the influence of each on the load-bearing capacity. The results showed that the best configuration would be one with GFRP and the load-bearing capacity is around 9kN in the optimum design.

Opis:
Rubberized concrete is made up of scrap tyre rubbers where the fine aggregate is partially replaced by it, as the waste rubber is being a threat to the environment. It is estimated that only 4% of the waste tyre is used in the application of civil engineering and also there is shortage of fine aggregates. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the preliminary concrete properties of M25 and M30 concretes. The fine aggregate is replaced by pre-treated crumb rubber with 10, 15 and 20 % of total weight. Various tests are conducted on the rubberized concrete specimens such as compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength and slump test. The investigation is carried out to determine the impact load behavior of hybrid rubberized composite slabs. In addition 0%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% of replacement of rubber fibers for total weight of coarse aggregate is also made. The specimen of size 300 mm x 300 mm x 50 mm thickness is subjected to drop hammer test to find its performance against the impact loads. The number of blows for the first crack and complete failure of slab was found and the characteristics were studied.

This research aimed to gain a better understanding of how the addition of fiber influences the punching shear capacity of two-way slabs by conducting an experiment into the structural behavior of flat slabs with and without a square opening using different volume fractions of hybrid steel-polypropylene fiber (0%, 0.9%, 1.05% and 1.8%). Ten 700 × 700 × 70 mm slabs were divided into five pairs, with two samples used as control samples (with and without openings), and eight other samples with different volume fraction of fibers. Results showed that an increase in fiber content enhanced the shear strength of the slabs. For example, as the volume fraction of hybrid fiber increased from 0.0 to 1.8%, the ultimate load increased by 52% for slabs without an opening and up to 42% for slabs with an opening.

Opis:
The growth in high-rise building construction has increased the need for hybrid reinforced concrete and steel structural systems. Columns in buildings are the most important elements because of their seismic resistance. Reinforced concrete (RC) columns and steel columns were used herein to form hybrid structural systems combining their distinct advantages. Eleven 3D building models subjected to earthquake excitation with reinforced concrete beams and slabs of 12 floors in height and with different distributions of mixed columns were analyzed by the SAP2000 software in order to investigate the most suitable distributions of a combination of reinforced concrete and steel columns. Top displacements and accelerations, base normal forces, base shear forces, and base bending moments were computed to evaluate the selected hybrid structural systems. The findings are helpful in evaluating the efficiency of the examined hybrid high-rise buildings in resisting earthquakes.
