Opis:
Abrasive Waterjet technology is one of the fastest growing metal cutting technologies. Even so, very little published material is available on hybrid processing where abrasive waterjet cutting is one of two or more metal cutting methods. There is also limited published material on thin-walled components cut with abrasive waterjet technology. This paper makes a comparison of conventional metal cutting methods to the more unconventional abrasive waterjet technique. It will serve as a stepping stone in building knowledge aiding in hybrid machining development. It will show the possibilities and limitations during milling of thin-walled Aluminum components and then compare this to the capabilities of abrasive waterjet cutting the same components. Differences in material removal and revert control as well as in vibrations and force requirements will be reviewed. In addition, the environmental issues will be discussed and it will be determined which of the methods is more sustainable. The paper also includes a large section on process methodology.

Opis:
The assessment of flood embankments is a key component of a country’s comprehensive flood protection. Proper and early information on the possible instability of a flood embankment can make it possible to take preventative action. The assessment method proposed by the ISMOP project is based on a strategy of processing huge data sets (Big Data). The detection of flood embankment anomalies can take two analysis paths. The first involves the computation of numerical models and comparing them with real data measured on a flood embankment. This is the path of model-driven analysis. The second solution is data-driven, meaning time series are analysed in order to detect deviations from average values. Flood embankments are assessed based on the results of model-driven and data-driven analyses and information from preprocessing. An alarm is triggered if a critical value is exceeded in one or both paths of analysis. Tests on synthetic data demonstrate the high efficiency of the chosen methods for assessing the state of flood embankments.

Opis:
Dążenie ludzi nauki do uzyskania coraz większego uproszczenia struktury modeli, a jednocześnie do coraz większej dokładności i wymiarowości, przynosi rezultaty w postaci tworzenia nowych modeli. Modelowanie ma zasadnicze znaczenie w działalności naukowej i inżynierskiej. Efektywne funkcjonowanie istniejących systemów nawadniania zależy od dokładności i precyzji modelowania. Przedsięwzięcie wielokierunkowe, jakim jest proces modelowania dla potrzeb inżynierii rolniczej wymaga połączenia wiedzy z różnych dyscyplin przyrodniczych: agrometeorologii, agrofizyki, gleboznawstwa, fizjologii roślin, uprawy roślin i wielu innych. Także wymaga interdyscyplinarnych zespołów badawczych. Wiodącym czynnikiem podnoszącym efektywność modelowania jest implementacja do istniejących modeli symulacyjnych pozyskanych za pomocą odpowiednich technik informacji. Ma to na celu minimalizację błędów symulacji. W pracy przedstawiono poglądowy zarys systemów hybrydowych.
The desire of scientists to obtain an ever increasing simplification of the structure of models, whilst increasing the accuracy and dimensionality results in the creation of new models. Modeling is crucial in research and engineering. The efficient functioning of the existing irrigation systems depends on modeling accuracy and precision. The project which is a multidirection modeling process for agricultural engineering purposes requires a combination of knowledge from different disciplines of natural sciences: agrometeorology, agrophysics, soil science, plant physiology, cultivation and many others also requires interdisciplinary research teams. The leading factor in increasing the efficiency of modeling is to implement the existing simulation models obtained using the corresponding techniques of information. The aim is to minimize the minimize the errors of the simulation. The paper presents a pictorial overview of hybrid systems.

Opis:
A new methods of selecting efficient project portfolios in the presence of hybrid uncertainty has been presented. Pareto optimal solutions have been defined by an algorithm for generating project portfolios. The method presented allows us to select efficient project portfolios taking into account statistical and economic dependencies between projects when some of the parameters used in the calculation of effectiveness can be expressed in the form of an interactive possibility distribution and some in the form of a probability distribution. The procedure for processing such hybrid data combines stochastic simulation with nonlinear programming. The interaction between data are modeled by correlation matrices and the interval regression. Economic dependences are taken into account by the equations balancing the production capacity of the company. The practical example presented indicates that an interaction between projects has a significant impact on the results of calculations.

Opis:
The full-fledged processing of temporal information presents specific challenges. These difficulties largely stem from the fact that the temporal meaning conveyed by grammatical means interacts with many extra-linguistic factors (world knowledge, causality, calendar systems, reasoning). This article proposes a novel approach to this problem, based on a hybrid strategy that explores the complementarity of the symbolic and probabilistic methods. A specialized temporal extraction system is combined with a deep linguistic processing grammar. The temporal extraction system extracts eventualities, times and dates mentioned in text, and also temporal relations between them, in line with the tasks of the recent TempEval challenges; and uses machine learning techniques to draw from different sources of information (grammatical and extra-grammatical) even if it is not explicitly known how these combine to produce the final temporal meaning being expressed. In turn, the deep computational grammar delivers richer truth-conditional meaning representations of input sentences, which include a principled representation of temporal information, on which higher level tasks, including reasoning, can be based. These deep semantic representations are extended and improved according to the output of the aforementioned temporal extraction module. The prototype implemented shows performance results that increase the quality of the temporal meaning representations and are better than the performance of each of the two components in isolation.

Dane te można wykorzystać do modelowania rozkładu energetycznego obiektów.
Knowledge of measurement scene energetic parameters is very often a key element during measurements. Hybrid modelling stand which uses vision and thermal cameras is capable to visualize a 3D thermal model of the measurement scene. This data are envisioned to be used in object energetic modelling. Connection of images acquired using different acquisition methods can deliver information invisible for traditional imaging technique. Visible and thermal images connected in one image give information about shapes and temperature map of objects seen by cameras. If we connect a stereoscopic visible image and thermal image we will have a three-dimensional object model covered with the temperature map. Dividing the three dimensional object into elementary surfaces we can model this object energetically. Energetic modelling of the measurement scene allows verifying the measurement data. This method requires many measurement scene parameters to be registered.

Opis:
In this study, a hybrid surface composite of AA5083/SiC-Gr was produced by Friction Stir Processing (FSP). Reinforcement material each in 50:50 proportion was filled in the base matrix using holes method. Three different hybrid reinforcement volumes of 301.6 mm3, 452.4 mm3, and 603.2 mm3 were prepared for surface composite. Optical and Scanning Electron Microscopy was used to check the quality of the prepared surface composite and homogeneous distribution of reinforcement was observed in the images. It was observed that due to better uniform distribution of reinforcement particles during 3 pass FSP, specimens with 301.6 mm3 reinforcement volume showed enhanced microhardness and wear properties in comparison with the other specimens.

Power quality disturbances have adverse impacts on the electric power supply as well as on the customer equipment. Therefore, the detection and classification of such problems is necessary. In this paper, a fast detection algorithm for power quality disturbances is presented. The proposed method is a hybrid of two algorithms, abc-0dq transformation and 90ırc phase shift algorithms. The proposed algorithm is fast and reliable in detecting most voltage disturbances in power systems such as voltage sags, voltage swells, voltage unbalance, interrupts, harmonics, etc. The three-phase utility voltages are sensed separately by each of the algorithms. These algorithms are combined to explore their individual strengths for a better performance. When a disturbance occurs, both algorithms work together to recognize this distortion. This control method can be used for critical loads protection in case of utility voltage distortion. Simulation and analysis results obtained in this study illustrate high performance of the strategy in different single-phase and three-phase voltage distortions.
