We discuss an apparent paradox (and conjectured resolution) of Jacobson and Venkataramani concerning 'temporarily toroidal' black hole horizons, in light of a recent connectivity theorem for spaces of complete causal curves. We do this in a self-contained manner by first reviewing the 'fastest curve argument' which proves this connectivity theorem, and we note that active topological censorship can be derived as a corollary of this argument. We argue that the apparent paradox arises only when one dispenses with the invariant viewpoint provided by the connectivity theorem in favour of an observer-dependent description. Finally, we discuss an alternative to fastest curve arguments, which can be used to construct a self-contradictory null line in certain spacetimes violating topological censorship. These arguments may shed light on the relationship between topological and cosmic censorship.

In contrast to traditional coal separation, dry separation does not require water and does not cause water pollution. Dense phase gas–solid fluidized beds are used for dry separation. The plugged holes in the air distributor should be tested to ensure the stability of these beds for particle separation. The pressure fluctuation is sensitive to these plugged holes. This sensitivity can be tested and diagnosed by determining the standard deviation of the pressure fluctuation. In areas with partial blockage, that is the areas with weak fluidization, a decrease in the volume fraction of the particles and in the pressure differences in the transverse of the bed results in an increase of the standard deviation of the pressure fluctuation, thereby stimulating the lateral mixing of medium-sized particles. The standard deviation and the mixing intensity decrease axially. The value of sensitivity of the plugged holes in the air distributor decreases as the height of the bed increases. The features of air distributors affect the surrounding areas. The distribution law determining the influence of plugged holes on the beds is symmetrical. As the blockage of the fluidized bed distributor region increases, the mean square error of the pressure fluctuation in the related regions increases. The intensity of the effect is proportional to the distance to the plugged holes.

Two-mass model of bitool chambering was introduced. Build on its basis mathematical model of deep holes chambering was used to conduct numerical analysis of the system. By optimizing parameters of machine-fixture-part-tool system one can reduce the time of transitory processes, increase dynamic rigidity and decrease tremblings level during deep hole chambering, what allows to increase their accuracy and machining efficiency.

Burnishing technology is a technology of surface plastic forming of machine parts. The paper presents experimental research of burnishing process of the steel tube holes. Used tools to burnishing technology are hard and smooth surface. Burnishing elements are of ball, roll and disk. Burnishing be flat surfaces, and cylindrical shape. Burnished surfaces are cylindrical outer and inner. Because of the type of the force can be divided into static and dynamic burnishing. Due to the kinematics can be divided into sliding and roller burnishing. Occurrence of moving parts in direct contact with the material qualifies for the group process of burnishing rolling. The sliding burnishing design element property is part of the work surface burnished permanently attached to the handle. Burnishing is used as a finishing strengthens and smoothness can be realized on the universal machine tools and machining centres, effectively replaces the machining operations, such as grinding, reaming, honing and lapping. The precise tube holes are made mostly methods abrasive machining. Machining these methods can usually maintain a within the tolerances established by the constructor size and shape and surface roughness. However, there is not achieved a satisfactory state surface layer of tube holes. Improve the properties of the surface layer can be obtained after application, as finishing, broaching the slide burnishing. It consists in pushing through the machined hole tool in the shape of a sphere or a special plunger mandrel. After burnishing broaching is increased diameter, reduced roughness surface and improve the physical properties work piece surface layer of the tube holes. Burnishing broaching process can increase the dimensional accuracy of tube holes, reducing the surface roughness, the strengthening of the surface layer, compressive residual stresses constitution. Compressive internal stresses substantially influence the fatigue life of machine parts. A burnishing broaching is carry out by a ball. In the paper presents results measurements roughness and impact of the relative strain ratio on the surface layer after burnishing broaching process.

Eksploatacja złóż węglowodorów ciekłych i gazowych ma już długoletnią tradycję. Dlatego coraz częściej spotykamy się z negatywnymi skutkami tej działalności przede wszystkim po zaprzestaniu eksploatacji. Do skutków tych zaliczyć można zanieczyszczenia występujące w środowisku naturalnym, w warstwach powierzchniowych, zanieczyszczonych wodach po niekontrolowanych ucieczkach ropy naftowej w procesie eksploatacji lub przeróbki. Problemem są zlikwidowane przed laty odwierty ropne czy gazowe. Z powodu industrializacji terenów, a także długiego czasu, jaki upłynął od zakończenia eksploatacji, ich stan techniczny pozostawia wiele do życzenia. W pracy przedstawiono niektóre zagadnienia dotyczące prognozowania stref zagrożenia związanych z nieczynnymi już kopalniami ropy i gazu oraz podziemnymi magazynami gazu.
The exploitation of oil and gas has long lasting tradition. Therefore, more and more often there can be found negative results of this activity, above all so called ecologic loads. To these loads belong: a contamination of natural environment, contamination in superficial layer and contamination of water after uncontrolled leaks of rock oil during the mining or processing. Major problem are long closed gas and oil wells. Because of the industrialization of the areas, and also because of the long time, which passed since the end of exploitations, their condition leaves a lot to desire. This paper presents some of the problems concerning technical forecasting of out of operation oil and gas mines contamination zones.

Opis:
New technology with sliding burnishing of holes with cylindrical surface, made of hardened steel (60 HRC), is presented in the paper. Burnishing process was applied with specially designed tools. These tools can be used in CNC lathes and machining centres. After burnishing operation on hole ø 30 mm in satellite gear wheel the surface roughness parameter Ra = 0,02-0,04 mm was obtained. The method and results of research as well as technological conclusions are presented.
W artykule przedstawiono nową technologię otworów o gładkiej powierzchni, wykonanych w elementach maszyn ze stali hartowanej o twardości 60 HRC z zastosowaniem nagniatania ślizgowego. Obróbka wykończeniowa otworów odbywa się z użyciem specjalnych narzędzi nagniatających stosowanych na tokarkach CNC i centrach obróbkowych. Po nagniataniu otworu ø 30 mm w kole zębatym przekładni satelitarnej uzyskano powierzchnię o parametrze Ra = 0,02-0,04 mm. Podano przebieg i wyniki badań doświadczalnych oraz wnioski i zalecenia technologiczne.

Considering the analogy between classical thermodynamic parameters and black hole parameters, the four laws of thermodynamics are reinterpreted for Kerr and Kerr-Newman black holes. A simple model for the dynamic relationships was obtained by considering the surface area of the outer horizon of a Kerr and Kerr-Neumann black hole as the area of a perfect black body. Finding the conditions these black holes should satisfy, the equations were numerically solved and simulated for the Hawking temperature, Hawking radiation and entropy variations of Kerr and Kerr-Newman black holes. The Hawking temperature and Hawking radiation of a given rotating black hole drastically increases at the final stage of the black hole evaporation. In the meantime, the entropy of a rotating black hole drastically decreases through the time. The additional angular momentum and the charge effects gain high Hawking temperatures and high Hawking radiation values for the black holes while these effects reduce the entropy of the black holes.

Finite element and response surface methods were utilized to investigate the stress concentration factor induced in isotropic rectangular plates with two identical countersunk rivet holes due to uniaxial tension. In this investigation, the finite element model was constructed using ANSYS software and used to produce stress concentration factor (SCF) data. Additionally, the response surface method (RSM) was implemented to characterize the influence of the problem geometric parameters on the SCF. Besides, RSM combined with least squares regression methods were employed to formulate a simple and effective equation to mathematically compute the stress concentration factor […] value. This equation was consequently verified with finite element analysis (FEA) results. Lastly, an optimum plate and holes configuration that minimizes the SCF was suggested and hence recommended.

The article presents the possibilities++ of using Rapid Prototyping (RP) technology in the manufacturing of turbine blades with small diameter holes. The object under investigation was gas turbine blade with small diameter cooling holes and holes for generating longitudinal vortices. A turbine blade model was produced by means of Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) technology and subsequently validated in terms of detection and accuracy of the obtained holes. The application of the computer tomography and digital radiography technique resulted in obtaining a series of cross-sections of the turbine blade model with a series of holes. Particular attention was pointed out at the investigation of the locations of micro-holes with a diameter of 0.3 mm. It turned out that it was impossible to make such small holes by the RP method. In the following part the results of the study on the possibilities of making the micro-holes using electrical discharge method have been presented. In addition, proposition of further works such as the development of the considerations and issues discussed in this article, has been offered.

The paper presents an analysis of the influence of the fuel injector nozzle holes diameter on parameters of the brake-up, evaporation and combustion process in the cylinder of the marine 4-stroke Diesel engine. Presented analysis was prepared in the basis on computational fluid dynamic model. Initial and boundary conditions of the model as well as data used to model validation were collected during the laboratory study. Calculations were conducted for nominal fuel holes diameter equals 0.375mm and diameters increased and decreased by 50μm and 100μm respectively. According to presented results the increase of the diameter of fuel nozzle holes causes the increase of fuel Sauter’s mean diameter in the initial stage of the injection process and the decrease of fuel process evaporation. The result of this phenomenon is the slowdown of the initial stage of the combustion process and the decrease of both pressure and temperature of combustion.

One of the possible ways of formulation of an information loss paradox refers to an entanglement of the two particles created in a vicinity of an event horizon. Evolution of the entangled particles and an interaction with their own environments should lead to a decay of the entanglement. In this article effective approach of the study of high-stress concentration at closely placed holes in wing bearing area (in anisotropic plates) is proposed. It is based on the boundary integral equation method with the additional use of the asymptotic method. The simplicity, precision of the approach and the stability of the solution are illustrated in the calculation of stresses in the plate with a circular hole, an elliptical hole, elongated holes, a plate with two closely spaced elliptical holes.

Kettle holes are very characteristic elements of the landscape of the Kujawy. In 21 localities all together 26 species of caddis flies were collected. Two of them (Ylodes conspersus and Limnephilus auricula) are new for the area. Investigated holes had different species diversity. In some of them the number of species and specimens indicated their high value for conservation.

Opis:
The results of numerical investigations of flow through axial thrust balance holes in impeller of low specific speed pump were presented. The results were compared with available empirical investigations. It is a lack of numerical analyses in foregoing literature on flow through rotating holes. The issue is important for designing rotodynamic pumps. There are difficulties in solving the problem of precisely computing the flow in balance holes analytically.

Opis:
Design creativity is constrained by the limitations of knowledge of a given designer or even of a design team. Also, each design process is a dynamic process because novel design ideas may emerge spontaneously and their occurrence is unpredictable. One way to increase the probability that novel ideas are produced is to provide designers with additional knowledge, which will expand their design space. The other way is to create an environment stimulating generation of novel ideas. Such an environment should allow and encourage reflection, relaxation, formal and informal interaction among people, and knowledge sharing. The concept of structural hole in sociology is introduced and extended by distinguishing three classes of structural holes: domain, thinking, and working structural holes. It is postulated that an environment with abundance of structural holes can be created by proper public places. Such places should be comfortable to stay and easily accessible and they could be, for example, entrance halls, restaurants, activity centers, or corridors, which are discussed in the paper.
