Opis:
Distributed Arithmetic (DA) plays an important role in designing digital signal processing modules for FPGA architectures. It allows replacing multiply-and-accumulate (MAC) operations with combinational blocks. The quality of implementations based on DA strongly depends on efficiency of methods that map combinational DA block into FPGA resources. Since modern FPGAs have heterogeneous structure, there is a need for quality algorithms to target these structures and the need for flexible architecture exploration aiding in appropriate mapping. The paper presents a modification of DA concept that allows for very efficient implementation in heterogeneous FPGA architectures.

A heterogeneous Bertrand duopoly game with bounded rational and adaptive players manufacturing differentiated products is subject of investigation. The main goal is to demonstrate that participation of one bounded rational player in the game suffices to destabilize the duopoly. The game is modelled with a system of two difference equations. Evolution of prices over time is obtained by iteration of a two dimensional nonlinear map. Equilibria are found and local stability properties thereof are analyzed. Complex behavior of the system is examined by means of numerical simulations. Region of stability of the Nash equilibrium is demonstrated in the plane of the speeds of adjustment. Period doubling route to chaos is presented on the bifurcation diagrams and on the largest Lyapunov characteristic exponent graph. Lyapunov time is calculated. Chaotic attractors are depicted and their fractal dimensions are computed. Sensitive dependence on initial conditions is evidenced.

Opis:
The functional decomposition has found an application in many fields of modern engineering and science, such as combinational and sequential logic synthesis for VLSI systems, pattern analysis, knowledge discovery, machine learning, decision systems, data bases, data mining etc. It is perceived as one of the best logic synthesis methods for FPGAs. However, its practical usefulness for very complex systems depends on efficiency of method used in decomposition calculation. One of the most important steps in functional decomposition construction is selection of the appropriate input variable partitioning. In case of modern heterogeneous programmable structures efficiency of methods used to solve this problem becomes especially important. Since the input variable partitioning problem is an NP-hard, heuristic methods have to be used to efficiently and effectively search for optimal or near-optimal solutions. The paper presents a method for bound set selection in functional decomposition targeted FPGAs with heterogeneous structure. This heuristic algorithm delivers optimal or near optimal results and is much faster than other methods.

In this paper we build and solve a heterogeneous-agent dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) model with incomplete markets in the spirit of Krussel and Smith (1998). We expand this model to account for search and matching labour market frictions, using the classic Mortensen and Pissarides (1994) framework. The model, therefore, combines two important strands of economic modelling and presents a numerical challenge in terms of solving the model due to the inclusion of additional dimensions in the optimization problem. Despite the addition of additional state variables and higher dimensionality, we show that we are able to efficiently solve it numerically using value function iteration and we document basic properties of the model.

A concept of unifying the communications interface between heterogeneous ITS subsystems was presented in this paper. Then it goes to present methods developed to counteract that phenomenon through the seven layer OSI model and the CORBA standard. In latter parts, two data exchange protocols in heterogeneous ITS networks were presented. In the context of their limitations, an original concept was developed using a shared database as a universal communication interface between different ITS systems.

Distributed arithmetic is well known technique of designing FIR filters in FPGA devices. The quality of such filter implementation strongly depends on synthesis results of the DALUT block. Heterogeneity of modern FPGA structures introduces new possibilities into implementation process, that may lead to better results, but also makes it more complicated. This paper presents the simple mathematical model for estimating the necessary FPGA resources to implement DA-LUT using decomposition-based approach. The model takes into account the type of logic cells or memory blocks used for decomposition process. The proposed model is help ful to determinate the DALUT decomposition strategy for further automation of modified distributed arithmetic decomposition method.

In turbulent flow, the Reynolds stress provides an understanding of the shear dispersion within the flow. Turbulence can be said to have an effect equivalent to the Reynolds shear stresses and are indicators of turbulence transport. This paper examined the characteristic of vertical Reynolds Shear stress in a patchy heterogeneous open channel using two experimental conditions for flexible and rigid vegetation interaction with gravel bed. The results show the value of vertical Reynolds stress decreases downstream along the channel section and as the distance from change in roughness increases. This is attributed to the effects of the bed roughness configuration (due to the preceding vegetated bed roughness) on the vertical Reynolds stress distribution. However, the position of maximum vertical Reynolds stress is located near bed over the vegetated zone. This provides an indication that the vegetated bed serves as the primary source of turbulence for the flow.

A dynamic programming-based algorithm adapted to on-board heterogeneous computers for simulation-based trajectory optimization was studied in the context of high-performance sailing. The algorithm can efficiently utilize all OpenCL-capable devices, starting the computation (if necessary, in single precision) on a GPU and finalizing it (if necessary, in double-precision) with the use of a CPU. The serial and parallel versions of the algorithm are presented in detail. Possible extensions of the basic algorithm are also described. The experimental results show that contemporary heterogeneous on-board/mobile computers can be treated as micro HPC platforms. They offer high performance (the OpenCL-capable GPU was found to accelerate the optimization routine 41 fold) while remaining energy and cost efficient. The simulation-based approach has the potential to give very accurate results, as the mathematical model upon which the simulator is based may be as complex as required. The black-box represented performance measure and the use of OpenCL make the presented approach applicable to many trajectory optimization problems.

This article deals with the model of the locally heterogeneous elastic body. The model accounts for long-range interaction and describes near-surface non-homogeneity and related size effects. The key systems of model equations are presented. From the viewpoint of the representative volume element, the boundary condition for density and the limits of applicability of the model are discussed. The difference of mass density in the near-surface body region from the reference value (near-surface mass defect) causes a non-zero stressed state. It is indicated on the strong dependence of the surface value of density from the curvature of the surface of thin fibres. The effect of the near-surface mass defect on the stressed state and the size effect of surface stresses have been investigated on an example of a hollow cylinder. Size effect of its strength has been studied as well.

We have used dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) to study glass transition temperatures and crystallinity as a function of the nucleating agent concentration. Isotactic polypropylene samples showed a strong dependency on amount of α nucleating agent used. An increasing content of sorbitol based nucleating agent led to an increase of crystallization temperature upon cooling from the melt at constant rate and a decrease of the glass transition temperatures.

As of today, most of the data processing systems have to deal with a large amount of data originated from numerous sources. Data sources almost always differ regarding its purpose of existence. Thus model, data processing engine and technology differ intensely. Due to current trend for systems fusion there is a growing demand for data to be present in a common way regardless of its legacy. Many systems have been devised as a response to such integration needs. However, the present data integration systems mostly are dedicated solutions that bring constraints and issues when considered in general. In this paper we will focus on the present solutions for data integration, their flaws originating from their architecture or design concepts and present an abstract and general approach that could be introduced as an response to existing issues. The system integration is considered out of scope for this paper, we will focus particularly on efficient data integration.

It was shown that impedance characteristics are informative to determine some parameters of the quality of honeycomb optical tables and are correlated with the thickness of the pipe's inner sediment layer. Therefore it is possible to choose typical resonance frequencies and according to their changes, the decision about inner layer presence and its value can be made.

Multiple models are recognised by their abilities to accurately describe nonlinear dynamic behaviours of a wide variety of nonlinear systems with a tractable model in control engineering problems. Multiple models are built by the interpolation of a set of submodels according to a particular aggregation mechanism, with the heterogeneous multiple model being of particular interest. This multiple model is characterized by the use of heterogeneous submodels in the sense that their state spaces are not the same and consequently they can be of various dimensions. Thanks to this feature, the complexity of the submodels can be well adapted to that of the nonlinear system introducing flexibility and generality in the modelling stage. This paper deals with off-line identification of nonlinear systems based on heterogeneous multiple models. Three optimisation criteria (global, local and combined) are investigated to obtain the submodel parameters according to the expected modelling performances. Particular attention is paid to the potential problems encountered in the identification procedure with a special focus on an undesirable phenomenon called the no output tracking effect. The origin of this difficulty is explained and an effective solution is suggested to overcome this problem in the identification task. The abilities of the model are finally illustrated via relevant identification examples showing the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Distillation boundaries originate from saddle azeotropes, dividing the composition space into distillation regions. In heterogeneous mixtures distilled in packed columns, distillation regions overlap. The common area of distillation regions is parametrically sensitive, and it determines the possibilities of crossing (at a finite reflux) the distillation boundaries defined for a total reflux or reboil ratio. This work is an extended research of the paper (Krolikowski et al., 2011) conducted to scrutinize whether the distillation regions overlapped in heteroazeotropic systems distilled in staged columns. Presented studies were performed by finding such composition points of the products, for which the rectifying profiles of staged columns were ended in different distillation regions. Calculations were executed for the heterogeneous mixture classified under Serafimov's topological class as 3.1-2: ethanol - benzene - water. Distillation regions for staged columns were found to overlap each other in the heterogeneous systems. As a result, their common part was parametrically sensitive.

This paper proposes a zone-based three-level heterogeneous clustering protocol (ZB-TLHCP) for heterogeneous WSNs. In ZB-TLHCP, the sensor field/region is divided into zones where super, advance, and normal nodes are deployed uniformly and randomly. The performance of the proposed ZB-TLHCP system is compared with that of zonal-stable election protocol (Z-SEP), distributed energy efficient clustering (DEEC), and threshold-based DEEC (TDEEC) protocol by varying the number of super and advance nodes, their energy levels for the fixed sensor field, and the total number of nodes. Matlab simulation results revealed that the proposed ZB-TLHCP solution performed better than Z-SEP, DEEC, and TDEEC protocols, as it increased the instability period, prolonged the network's lifetime, and achieved higher throughput values.

Opis:
This contribution deals with the modelling and analysis of stability problems for thin composite annular plates interacting with elastic heterogeneous subsoil. The object of analysis is an annular plate with a deterministic heterogeneous microstructure and the apparent properties smoothly varying along a radial direction. The aim of contribution is to formulate two macroscopic mathematical models describing stability of this plate. The considerations are based on a tolerance averaging technique. The general results are applied to the analysis of some special stability problems. The obtained results of critical forces with those obtained from finite element method are compared.
