Opis:
Design and construction of hydrogeological information systems is now a necessity. For proper functionality of these systems, it is necessary to create them in accordance with widely accepted international standards regarding geospatial information. Geomatics research tools allow for creation of basic models of hydrogeological data, consistent with these standards. The models can be based upon classification of types and subtypes of hydrogeological features, as well as upon basic and derived classes of hydrogeological objects. The basis for this classification can be differentiation between features and objects, as well as between fuzzy features (objects) and fiat features (objects), or the analysis of their spatial dimensionality.

Opis:
The paper deals with the problem of selection of the most informative features. A new effective and efficient heuristic possibilistic clustering algorithm for feature selection is proposed. First, a brief description of basic concepts of the heuristic approach to possibilistic clustering is provided. A technique of initial data preprocessing is described and a fuzzy correlation measure is considered. The new algorithm is described and then illustrated on the well-known Iris data set benchmark and the results obtained are compared with those by using the conventional, well-known and widely employed method of principal component analysis (PCA). Conclusions and suggestions for future research are given.

Opis:
Biometrics is the science of human recognition by means of their biological, chemical or behavioural traits. These systems are used in many real life applications simply from biometric based attendance system to providing security at a very sophisticated level. A biometric system deals with raw data captured using a sensor and feature template extracted from raw image. One of the challenges being faced by designers of these systems is to secure template data extracted from the biometric modalities of the user and protect the raw images. In order to minimize spoof attacks on biometric systems by unauthorised users one of the solutions is to use multi-biometric systems. Multi-modal biometric system works by using fusion technique to merge feature templates generated from different modalities of the human. In this work, a novel scheme is proposed to secure template during feature fusion level. The scheme is based on union operation of fuzzy relations of templates of modalities during fusion process of multimodal biometric systems. This approach serves dual purpose of feature fusion as well as transformation of templates into a single secured non invertible template. The proposed technique is irreversible, diverse and experimentally tested on a bimodal biometric system comprising of fingerprint and hand geometry. The given scheme results into significant improvement in the performance of the system with lower equal error rate and improvement in genuine acceptance rate.

Opis:
Proper fingerprint feature extraction is crucial in fingerprint-matching algorithms. For good results, different pieces of information about a fingerprint image, such as ridge orientation and frequency, must be considered. It is often necessary to improve the quality of a fingerprint image in order for the feature extraction process to work correctly. In this paper we present a complete (fully implemented) improved algorithm for fingerprint feature extraction, based on numerous papers on this topic. The paper describes a fingerprint recognition system consisting of image preprocessing, filtration, feature extraction and matching for recognition. The image preprocessing includes normalization based on mean value and variation. The orientation field is extracted and Gabor filter is used to prepare the fingerprint image for further processing. For singular point detection, the Poincaré index with a partitioning method is used. The ridgeline thinning is presented and so is the minutia extraction by CN algorithm. The paper contains the comparison of obtained results to the other algorithms.

The paper is devoted to a survey of work done in fuzzy clustering, mainly during the first decade of the 21st century, and that with emphasis on various approachesto the problem, as well as various formulations of the very problem. That is why not only the classical formulations are treated, but several other problems, related to (the use of) clustering, like feature selection, inference systems, three-way clustering, and, on the other hand, such formulations of clustering as the possibilistic one or the one involving intuitionistic fuzzy sets. These are treated as the background for presentation of some specific ideas of the main author, concerning definite heuristic algorithms for effective solving of some of these problems.

Opis:
Mobile vehicle identification has a wide application field for both civilian and military uses. Vehicle identification may be achieved by incorporating single or multiple sensor solutions and through data fusion. This paper considers a single-sensor multistage hierarchical algorithm of acoustic signal analysis and pattern recognition for the identification of mobile vehicles in an open environment. The algorithm applies several standalone techniques to enable complex decision-making during event identification. Computationally inexpensive procedures are specifically chosen in order to provide real-time operation capability. The algorithm is tested on pre-recorded audio signals of civilian vehicles passing the measurement point and shows promising classification accuracy. Implementation on a specific embedded device is also presented and the capability of real-time operation on this device is demonstrated.

Opis:
Nowadays, Customer’s product reviews can be widely found on the Web, be it in personal blogs, forums, or ecommerce websites. They contain important products’ information and therefore became a new data source for competitive intelligence. On that account, these reviews need to be analyzed and summarized in order to help the leader of an entity (company, brand, etc.) to make appropriate decisions in an efective way. However, most previous review summarization studies focus on summarizing sentiment distribution toward different product features without taking into account that the real advantages and disadvantages of a product clarify over time. For this reason, in this work we aim to propose a new system for product opinion summarization which depends on the time when reviews are expressed and that covers the sentiments change about product features. The proposed system firstly, generates a summary based on product features in order to give more accurate and efficient information about different features. secondly, classify the product based on its features in its appropriate class (good, medium or bad product) using a fuzzy logic system. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system to generate the real image of a product and its features in reviews.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of application two data mining coming from the chemical soils state observations, within the unorganized heavy metals emission. Soil pollution concentration standards classification with the use FSM networks, and also classifications committees (in this case: FSM + IncNet + decision trees, and FSM networks Committee which consists of elements differing by transfer function) show a considerable predominance of single FSM classifier. Additionally it has the possibility to extract the classification rules from the data basis which might be in future applied as macroinstruction for preparing the soil digital maps, and actively participate in SIP construction. In both cases the main restriction and also the algorithm application effectivity was a very little amount of data used in the analyses. This brought to the decision of using the cross validation method, during creating the classification model, and thereby imposes to treat very carefully, even very optimistic results obtained by this model.

Opis:
Automated detect detection in woven fabrics for quality control is still a challenging novelty detection problem. This work presents five novel fractal features based on the box-counting dimension to address the novelty detection of fabric defect. Making use of the formation of woven fabric, the fractal features are extracted in a one-dimension series obtained by projecting a fabric image along the warp and weft directions, where their complementarity in discriminating defects is taken into account. Furthermore a new novelty detector based on fuzzy c-means (FCM) is devised to deal with one-class classification of the features extracted. Finally, by jointly applying the features proposed and the FCM based novelty detector, we evaluate the method proposed for eight datasets with different defects and textures, where satisfying results are achieved with a low overall missing detection rate.
